im always really excited when an artist comes to my area (Sacramento) bc it's the capital city but it's still small compared to SF and LA and is not the prime tour destination. unfortunately a lot of shows here are 21+, or on nights that clash with pep band events during football season :/ which means driving to San Francisco (which is about 1.5 hrs away) aha :')
but i just bought tickets to see Tennyson in SF in October and im stoked! and Vesperteen there next month
i haven't rly been to any low-capacity shows so i'm excited bc they're more intimate (and affordable) than i'm used to u know
are you going to any concerts this year? what's the best concert you've attended? who do you want to see?

sand dollar for school it's been alright. being home in the summer is pretty awful because i only did my senior year here and don't have any friends here ya know what kind of sound do you like? my personal favorite work of his is the album Michigan, but most people prefer Illinois to it. Carrie & Lowell is probably is most popular, while Planetarium is the newest. Age of Adz is best if you prefer more electronic-y sounds probably. The Avalanche imho is his most underrated album; it's wonderful and it's all the outtakes from Illinois

I don't go to concerts very often because I don't have $$$
But I went to a Boston concert last night. Joan Jett opened for them...she was very underwhelming

@striker that makes sense. are you looking to make new friends there? or are you good with your ca friends for now
idk i'm not too picky when it comes to music; all of that sounds enticing! i think i'll start with The Avalanche and work my way through the other albums from there. tysm

sand dollar not really. i mean i have friends at college. i only talk to 1 cali friend and my xc/track coach anyway so it's not like i have any attachments to cali anymore. i just don't have any friends around home because of only doing 1 year of high school at a really small school where people don't really move away so everyone's known each other a long time. np!! i forgot to include Seven Swans and A Sun Came. Seven Swans is quieter. A Sun Came is suf's first album so it's a bit unpolished sounding but i really like it still

sand dollar yeah it's pretty dull. i also kept this summer clear because i was supposed to have some medical stuff happen but then insurance happened so who knows anymore he has great song titles tbh. i'll admit Illinois and The Avalanche have the best song titles probably

Nothing really happened with her. The crowd was really only there to see Boston and she failed to get those old farts excited xD

I've been to many (mostly local stuff in my hometown), plus I do choir so I've performed in as many as I've attended in the audience, if not more. I can safely say that not counting my own, the best one I've been to by far was just last month when I saw the Young People's Chorus of NYC. YPC is one of the most famous children's choirs in the world but so much more than that. They have children from every socioeconomic background, from all parts of the city. Their founder/artistic director, Francisco J. Núñez, founded the organization because he wanted something to bring together kids from all different backgrounds. He says "children are taught growing up that if you're a different race, or a different religion, you're not good enough. And I want to change that." More people like that need to exist in the world. They have a 100% high school graduation rate - all members go on to college, many being the first in their family to do so. They travel all over the world - 80 of them just got back from a 10 day tour in Spain. They've gotten to perform for people such as Obama and the Pope. I've sung with YPC several times as part of the summer program I've done through last year, and finally last month I got to see them perform in NYC. I could not stop crying. Especially when all 400 members, ranging in age from 7 to 18 were onstage together at the end. It was an example of what this world should be. I heard several songs I knew before and have several new favorites. Within minutes after the show ended, kids from YPC were coming up to me to chat and take pictures and stuff. Then one of them asked if I wanted to see Francisco (like what kind of a question...?) so I went into this back room and as soon as Francisco and his wife Elizabeth (YPC associate conductor, who I've also worked with) saw me, they hugged me and told me how great it was to see me and we took a picture of course. These people are not only incredible musicians, but incredible human beings. Please, if you ever get the chance to see them - do it. I still can't even believe it and I can't wait til whenever the next time is I can see them again. (Not soon enough...)
I don't have any from the concert I went to, but here's a few videos:

sand dollar move in is on the 19th of next month fortunately and i'm going to michigan in early august so i'll be busy until then probably Nice. i don't even think that's his longest title. off the top of my head, i think it might be The Black Hawk War, or, How to Demolish an Entire Civilization and Still Feel Good About Yourself in the Morning, or, We Apologize for the Inconvenience but You're Going to Have to Leave Now, or, 'I Have Fought the Big Knives and Will Continue to Fight Them Until They Are Off Our Lands!

I volunteer at a local theatre so most of the concerts I've seen has been through them.
I'll have to post the link instead of vid embeds since I'm on mobile, but this song is one of my favorites from an artist called Bif Naked. Mind you, she's from like the 80's/early 90's and is about my mom's age xD But she's the sweetest person you'll ever meet and so down to earth. A lot of my "more adult" friends flipped when they found out I got to meet her/chat with her/get a hug and autograph. She's a huge animal advocate and chatted with me about our old dogs for probably half an hour, lol. Her concert was actually an acoustic rendition of all of her traditionally punk/rock/techno music, so it was definitely an interesting take but she did beautifully. Our theatre is also built for quality acoustics so the sound carries so well, ahhh.
