Because I haven't gushed enough lately about how much I love this not-so-little-anymore guy. His name is Spock, and he is my betta fish of about 7 months now. He was so wee when I first got him from the pet store, thin as a stick and you could pretty much see right through his tail fin. Half of the time I even had to grind up his fish pellets with a pencil because the regular sized ones were too big for his little mouth. Now look how huge and colourful he is! Spread out fully he's about the size of my palm. And he never stops eating, (whole pellets at a time now) lol. He's super smart too, loves to follow fingers and recognizes a few faces/has different reactions to seeing different family members. He loves people. I know he's just a fish but you can actually form such a special bond with these cleveer little guys. To all the other betta parents of teh forums, you da real MVP's. Thank you for taking these little guys in, they deserve so much better than cups in pet stores to swim around in.

I LOVVEEEEE BETTAS
They are my favorite fish of all time because they are so underrated. When kept in the right environment they get such personalities and they are such gorgeous fish.
I think they are almost comparable to the beauty of saltwater fish, but they are so easy to care for.

I love bettas. I had one when I was little that I named Lilac. Then I found out she was a guy. Lucky fish had an entire 10 gallon-tank to himself.

Fish are cool, but surprisingly high-maintenance. They don't tell you that.

Spock's pre-decessor, Watson, was always very stoic and old-man like. Spock himself is very sprightly, and leaps at the first sign of movement/attention in a room.

We have a massive angelfish that is, without exaggeration, easily the size of my palm. He really seems to like attention and will beg for food.
