I'm still figuring it out myself, but my advice to you is to exploit the heck out of layers. It really helps you to rearrange line work, alter colours, apply effects etc. without disturbing the entire piece. Each one of my digital pieces has 20 + layers. comic pages end up with nearly 50.
Love the pic, by the way.

personally, i kind of... like letting my lines be messy and whatnot and shade on the same lineart layer -- but then again my lineart is sorta like transparent? but not really haha after coloring i tend to go back and touch up the lines. then i saturate it and alter the hues and contrast if need be; i like things to be eyepopping if that makes sense
i don't necessarily think that you need to have so many layers, theres always the undo button, but if thats your cup of tea then by all means go for it lmao :'3 i tend to use like 5 layers at most, usually 3 tho -- a layer for my lines & shade, another for the color, and a third for effects (sparkles, white outline, etc etc)
but i really dig your style. its sketchy and messy and i l o v e

𝓅𝑒𝒶𝒸𝒽man, i haven't even gotten to playing around with saturation and all those other tools yet. and yeah, i totally understand what you mean: i really love art that has bright/contrasting colours since it looks more eyecatching and interesting, but i'm pretty bad with choosing which colours to use together so my attempts don't go too well ... and thank you so much omg. i'm always jealous of other artists' styles even though i know i shouldn't be, so this is a nice change lmao. honestly, the reason why it's so sketchy is because i'm planning on cleaning it up later and fixing up the lines so it's cleaner once i get the facial features right haha it seems like a lot of it is up to artist's personal preferences/habits? i guess the best thing i can do is practice some more. thank you so much for your comment, it helped a lot <3
