Lucas sucked in a breath as Selena took his hands. While it was reassuring to know that Selena was determined to keep him safe on the mission at all costs, he was still vastly underprepared for the mission, and even with a week of intense training, he had his doubts about being ready in time. “And what if it’s not enough? I don’t know shit about my fire powers, let alone any magic I might have. There’s a lot that could go wrong, and you won’t be able to blow your cover to save me.” He pulled his hands back, uncomfortable with Selena holding them while he was expressing his concerns. “I’ve spent my entire life avoiding my powers, and I never wanted to be involved in anything too serious. Now I’m in the middle of something that’s freaking serious and scary and it’s scaring the hell out of me.” ~~~ Hannah turned to look directly at Dasco. “I promise I will take every precaution that I can.” If she had to play the role of a Flamed Tongue who despised the slightest chill in the air, whose loyalty to Dasco Val was the only reason she still called Embra home, she would. If she had to be irritable because she was outside in the cold rather than inside her warm office at Court, she would - within reason. She couldn’t afford to piss off Elizabeth and her Wolves. The trade meant a great deal to Dasco, especially regarding his future professional relationship with her, and Hannah refused to jeopardize that. “I’ll see you in a few hours, Dear.” She reached for his hand to give it a squeeze before he left. Only after the suite door closed did Hannah finish getting ready. Her makeup was complete, and her favorite parts of it were her winged eyeliner and the lipstick Dasco had selected for her. The lipstick was a deep red that radiated badass vibes, especially when paired with the rest of her makeup. Today, she needed those vibes. Dasco was counting on her for the exchange to be successful while he simultaneously worried about her safely. There was no way in hell the exchange would go to shit because of private issues. She could manage the pain and her temperature. With her heated blanket and purse in hand, she left the suite and headed downstairs to the cars. Hannah arrived as everyone else finished packing the cars. “I’m driving myself,” she announced, leaving no room for objections. She got into her car, taking care to adjust the heated blanket so she would be comfortable and warm during the drive. She also set up her phone so she could listen to an audiobook during the drive. The trip to Embra was uneventful and comfortably warm for Hannah. Upon arrival at the meeting spot, she shoved her arms through her puffy coat and zipped it up, leaving her heated blanket in the car. She would make it through this exchange despite the pain she was in and her fears about Selena being present. She would get through this. featherleg

Aika was about halfway through whisking the cream together when she heard soft footfalls approaching the kitchen. She glanced over her shoulder, ready to say ‘good morning’ to whoever had made their way into the space, but upon seeing Dalton sleepily enter the room, she couldn’t help but turn and stare at him with a look of surprise. His hair was a mess, his glass slightly off placed. The fact that he was still bundled in the blanket reminded her of when he used to do the same thing as a kid whenever she had slept over. They were both early risers, but if Dalton had stayed up later than her, then this scene was likely to occur the next morning. Even with that memory present in her mind, seeing him like this now made those feelings that she usually kept locked away rouse awake. Her face softened as she smiled towards him. “Morning, sleepy head.” Having set the bowl of cream down, she grabbed one of the coffee mugs James had set out earlier for them to pick and choose from and poured him a fresh cup of brew, making sure to add the amount of cream to it that he usually requested whenever she went on coffee runs for the group. Turning back towards him, she reached out and placed the mug on the island table for him to take. “Did you get enough rest?”, she asked as she brought over the bowl of cream to the island table to resume working on it. Rosestar The smell of coffee was a good way to speed up the process of becoming awake. He pulled the mug closer to his chest, as if to huddle around the warmth of it, and his glasses began to fog up. Dalton blinked in confusion, though no one could see it. When he took off his glasses to begin to wipe them off, through his blurry vision, he finally saw Aika in full. Still in borrowed pajamas, her hands carefully working the bowl of cream. Her smile was soft and her eyes were kind. Dalton paused his diligent cleaning to stare at her, despite the lack of glasses. The coffee was exactly as he liked it. He didn't know how long she had been up, probably not much earlier than him, and she had already taken the time to prepare him a drink. Last night, he may have been looking out for her, but no matter what, Aika was looking out for him.
His glasses clean and back to resting on his nose, Dalton grinned at her, probably looking a bit childish, if he was being honest. The wide grin, the messy hair, the blanket draped over him. And of course, his glasses almost immediately fogged up again. He ignored it this time and finally spoke. "Good morning to you too," He took a sip of his drink and smiled at her again gratefully before answering her question. "Kind of. Good thing it's Sunday, we'll have plenty of time to relax anyway."

“If I deem that you’re not prepared to cast on your own, then we’ll have you wear a restraint during the mission to negate you from doing so.” Such precautions were used during her own training years ago. While magical restraints were uncomfortable to wear, they did assist in containing a wearers magical abilities to an extent. Having Lucas withdraw his hands from hers, Selena took a step back, both to give him space and to have a moment to gather her words. “May I remind you that this is a choice you made? That you told me you wanted to start over and attempt to follow through on a plan that was not just for your own good, but someone else's? Even if they aren’t aware, a whole family is relying on us to save them from a fate that could result in what we are now.” Her eyes closed as her head turned downwards, her hands clenched into fists. “I cannot allow that to happen to another family, Lucas.” ------------------------------------ Awaiting the arrival of Dasco’s representatives was a group of seven individuals, all of which were tasked in ensuring that their own sorceress in training, Anna, completed the exchange without issue. The eight sat inside a meeting room, located within The Animus, the embassy of the magic borne community of Embra. Two long tables stood in the center of the room with small couches situated on both sides. At the south end sat Anna and her colleagues from the Den, all dressed in business attire. For Anna, this was the first time she was to be the negotiator and primary representative for the Wolves. Selena usually was tasked with being the figurehead of such exchanges with Anna present as an observer. However, just last night, Elizabeth had contacted her, informing her she would be the one in charge of the exchange today. Which brought her to where she was now, sitting on a velvet couch, surrounded by peers that she deemed more qualified for her role than she currently was, with a medium sized, leather crate sitting in front of her that she was tasked in delivering without issue. Nervously, she fiddled with the ends of her black dress as she attempted to imitate the confidence that Selena commonly held in such settings. Misty

Briefly, her focus returned to her task, but feeling Daltons gaze still on her, her eyes flickered up to meet his, just in time to see him grin at her. Perhaps with his glasses fogging over again he wouldn’t be able to notice the blush that was beginning to frame her cheeks, which only seemed to deepen as he smiled at her with appreciation. Aika stilled momentarily, as if she wanted to inquire further about his night, but instead she let out a breath before beaming back at him as she nodded in agreement. “Of course. We’re just about done with preparing breakfast.” She turned back towards James as she asked, “Is there anything else you need help with or should I start setting the table?” Rosestar

With Tom out the room, Rowlin relaxed a little, nearly sinking to the back of his seat. It's over...for now He wanted to close his eyes and pretend that this was a bad dream, but he knew it wasn't. Celestia addressed him, and this quickly forced him to sit back up, "Ah.." He blinked, "That can-" He bit his lower lip, "Actually yea,I can do that." He agreed. "I can certainly come in to work with you on this."He nodded at the thought. With the gesture, he shifted towards her, extending his arm so that she could inspect the restraints. "Y-Y-Yes actually." He shifted a bit further, even skidding his chair an inch closer. "Only those entrusted may remove the restrictions. To anyone else, it simply wont budge." He lightly nudged the thought, "But, it's also important to remove them with caution, otherwise I can go into shock because of the intense restrictions holding back my heightened senses." He pondered for a second, "I-feel like I'm forgetting something. There wasn't many rules, given that these are intended to restrict me, not the other way around... o-oh.." He snapped his head back briefly. "Removing them, we should take some serious caution, like more than that- I don't feed with these things on, so gods forbid that removing these drive me through a hunger strike." He glimpsed up taking in a sharp breath, "Maybe taking these off can wait another century... by then I'll be dead." He assumed, given the sudden mayhem shocks.
Derrick followed Tom out the room, and down the hallway. He listened cautiously towards the halls, in case there were any stragglers. Thankfully, there wasn't so it was just a matter of making their way out the door along the back of the house. Silently leading the stranger towards the door, he reached for the door and held it opened to allow Tom out. With that he closed it behind him, and quietly waited as the stranger had left. He wanted to speak up, but at this point- there was nothing to be said. With that, he was waiting a good while, until the stranger was out of view before returning into the house.

The waffles were nearly finished, and he had been organizing other various foods they might need. Syrup, butter, a pitcher of orange juice for Lily, whenever the kids got up. There were plates by the waffle maker, untinsels stuffed inside napkins next to them, waiting to be placed. "I think that's everything." With a ding, the last few waffles announced their completion. James nodded to himself and topped off the platter he was arranging. "I might go check on the teens, make sure there's no other requests. Feel free to set up and arrange your plates while I'm there. Shouldn't be long." "I doubt they're awake anyway," Dalton chuckled. "Says the detective still wrapped in a blanket." James acknowledged as he left the room. Dalton blinked, as if he had forgot about the blanket wrap. He debating removing it, and ulitmately decided to keep it on despite James, but he fastened it lower on his body, wearing it almost like a cape now. Satifised, he stood, heading over to the silverware to help Aika set up. "Did you rest well?" he finally asked, softer now.

Celestia arched a brow at Rowlin as she folded her arms across her chest. “I can exercise as much caution as needed, Rowlin, but I cannot say if I’m deemed ‘entrusted’ to remove them. Is there a keyword of sorts that I need to say to cause them to unlock? Or perhaps a spell?” While Celestia had worked with magical restraints before, the ones she usually encountered were more recent models. Even in her past, the ones she had worn were brand new at the time and were meant for general use among magic borne. Rowlins, however, were ancient, outdated, and made specifically to contain him. Taking into consideration the fact that they were malfunctioning, any previous risks were now hazards for both him and anyone who would be removing them. As rowlin brought up the issue of his instincts returning due to a lack of feeding, Celestia simply shook her head, the stubbornness and defiance of a formal general materializing in her stance. “You already prolonged this long enough, and I don’t backpedal on my promises. We’ll find a way to safely satiate your hunger once we find a way to remove your restraints. Besides,” she glanced briefly towards Aika before looking back to Rowlin, “we need your knowledge and expertise.” As Derrick re-entered the house, small but quick footsteps rushed towards him before the short form of Viola crashed into his leg. “Dad, where’s Mama? And Aunt Aika, and Mr. Rowlin? Are you all coming downstairs now?” She asked anxiously with puppy dog eyes. Out of all of their children, Viola was still very much dependent on her parents, and was most likely to complain when their attention was not on her and her siblings. Auransky

Aika couldn’t help but giggle at James' comment towards Dalton as he headed upstairs. While Dalton was busy fastening his blanket into a cape, she had started to gather a few bowls of fruit to bring over to the table. Her gaze returned to his as he stood and inquired about her night. Shyly, she tucked her hair behind her ear as she answered him with the same softness, “Perfectly, actually.” As she tried to find the words to say, her fingers drummed against the island counter, her eyes darting away from his momentarily before gravitating back to them. “Dalt, I…,” she shook her head as she readdressed him, “you tucked me in last night, right? After I, well, you know...”, her voice trailed off nervously. A part of her was scared to not only confront the reality of last night's events, but to see where they stood in the aftermath of it all as well. While she wanted nothing more to follow through on all the promises they made to each other, the feeling of uncertainty still lingered in her eyes as she looked to Dalton for answers. Rosestar

“And even if I get a handle on my fire, who’s to say that some other sort of magic won’t surface if I panic?” Lucas was already intimidated by learning to control his fire, and it would be his horrible luck that another element would surface under the influence of adrenaline. “You don’t need to remind me of what I said,” Lucas started as he took back his hands, “but I’m also worried I might have bitten off more than I can chew. This is a huge-ass mission, and there’s so many things that could go wrong.” He was worried agreeing to the mission had been a big mistake with his lack of training, but he hadn’t been lying about wanting a fresh start. Just... maybe he should’ve picked a different project to mark the beginning of this fresh start. “They don’t deserve what happened to us. I’ll train, Sel, but I still have my concerns about this.” ~~~ Hannah stepped into the meeting room, flanked by two vampires on her right and one on her left. Two came in after her, each carrying one end of a wooden crate. As they set the crate in the middle of one of the tables, she took off her coat and draped it over her forearm. Her gaze swept over the Wolves awaiting them, and she almost let out a sigh of relief when she saw that Selena was not among them. After her encounter with Selena yesterday, Hannah wasn’t sure she would have been able to face her sister, and if it had come out they were related... Her most precious secret would have been revealed to vampires and magic borne she didn’t fully trust. She moved to stand beside the crate and set her coat on the table. “Who is representing Ms. Volkov today?” featherleg

Screen Name: Misty First Name, Middle name{If you want!}, Last name: Ryland Cole Miller Gender: Male Age{15-45}: 25 Team: N/A; freelance agent within the VDA Field of Work: Sector agent with a position in Research Description: Ryland is of average height, with dark brown hair styled as a crew cut, dark brown eyes, a light beard and mustache, and a light skin tone. His lower earlobes are pierced once on each side, and he often wears contacts to correct his poor vision. He currently has no tattoos, though he has plenty of ideas for nerdy ones. Personality: Ryland has been fascinated by the supernatural as long as he can remember - and it all started with an old family story about vampires that was told without any seriousness. He, however, took it to heart and became intrigued by the supernatural, spending most of his free time digging into different supernatural mythologies. As a result, the VDA was a natural fit for him. Beyond his nerdyness about the supernatural, Ryland is a generally good guy whose worldview about criminal justice tends to be more black and white, especially regarding the supernatural. To him, he can’t understand why it would be difficult to follow rules that would keep their supernatural identities a secret in a society that generally doesn’t know they exist. Talents: Generation: N/A Bloodline: N/A Flaws/Disadvantages: Relationship Status: Single Other: Ryland’s family has an interesting story about vampires that has been told and retold for centuries. The story says that there was a close group of siblings, and half of them were turned into vampires. It devastated the siblings who weren’t turned, and they feared it was part of a conspiracy to harm all the siblings. They lived in fear for much of their lives, and their children and grandchildren recall their parents being grateful they could live long lives and watch the children and grandchildren grow up. Rosestar Dalton found himself hesitating at the cabinet of dishware. It was the way her voice was softening. He was grateful James had left the kitchen, because he was positive she wouldn't be approaching whatever question was on her mind otherwise. His mind wasn't quite awake enough to puzzle things out on his own. He forced himself to reach out for the pile of plates, because the table wasn't going to set itself, and he turned back to meet Aika's gaze when her voice trailed off.
"Yeah, that was me," he started, still processing the rest of her statement. Or rather, vague attempt at a statement. There could have been many things she was referred to and unable to say. "You were cold. I... I remember that happening a lot," he added, hoping it got his point across. That he remembered, or was starting too. There were still many questions in his mind, but the sensations were familiar. Her chilled skin; the worry that came with it. Her bright eyes; the joy that came with that. The deja vu did nothing to wake him up further, but the feelings were pleasant. Dalton was smiling to himself as he set out the plates.

(I'm working backwards in replies! I hope that's okay with everyone <3 ) At first, Aika wasn’t sure of what to do with herself besides nod her head to his confirmation. Her hand rested still on the counter for support, the feeling of being stuck in hesitation creeping up on her. That was until he brought up the chills that plagued and haunted her. The mere notion of him remembering made her exhale a breath that perhaps was held far longer than she’d like to acknowledge. “Far more than I would like it to. The chills, I mean.” She said quietly as she assisted him with setting the table. “You made it bearable. Especially on the days where I couldn’t move on my own.” There had been several occasions where Aika had found herself curled in the corner of his bed, waiting for him to return from school. The hours of shivering alone. The confusion it brought every time as she wasn’t aware as to why her body temperature would drop so low. The failed attempts to try to stay warm, and the instant relief of Dalton finally appearing in his room, worry and concern held in his eyes as he rushed to her side. The chills and severity had gotten worse over the years, but despite that, he was always there to keep her warm. Perhaps he didn’t remember all of that. Not right now. Not right away. But it was enough to make Aika feel that they were starting somewhere, wherever that may be. “Thanks for looking out for me, Dalt. And...sorry for falling asleep on you.” Rosestar

“Yes, you did bite off more than you can handle. Agreeing to Elizabeth's proposal was a fool's errand, and now we have to be the ones to sort it out.” She said pointedly. “I understand your concerns. I was--and still am--a student to the arcane. Things could go out of hand, but the chances are higher if you don’t trust yourself, your teacher, or the process itself.” Placing her water bottle down, she started walking towards the center of the field, hands tucked in her jacket. “We aren’t going to get anywhere if we only stand here and talk about hypotheticals. Whether you’re ready or not, practice starts now.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Suppressing the urge to shrink in her seat, Anna nodded at Hannah as she stood and bowed towards her. “I, Scryer Anna Witson, will be representing the Wolves Den and her leader, Ms. Volkov. While it has been a precedent for Sorceress Selena Val to be our organization's representative, circumstances of utmost urgency have drawn her away. That being said, Ms. Volkov trusts me as her lead Scryer to follow through this exchange and wishes to not sully the time of the Embrian Court any longer.” Two of the Dens representatives placed the leather crate onto the table between the parties before stepping back to allow Anna the floor once more. “Unless the representative or formal party from the Embrian Court has any objections, we’d like to proceed with the negotiation.” Misty

“You don’t need to be a smart ass about it. Aren’t you supposed to reassure me that I made the right decision? Isn’t that in the job description for being a sister?” More than anything, Lucas needed reassurance right now. If he didn’t have the confidence that he could do his training, training would go well. “I trust you as my teacher. I have less trust in myself, but I also don’t know how the hell to control my powers.” And that was why he was here with Selena - to learn to control his powers. “Then let’s fricking do this.” ~~~ Hannah was careful to keep her expression neutral as Anna mentioned Selena, and while there was a small part of her that was curious about what could be more important than this trade, there was a much larger part of her that did not care and was grateful her sister wasn’t involved. “My name is Hannah Grey, and,” and if you haven’t yet figured it out, “I represent Sovereign Dasco Val of the Embrian Court. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Anna.” She stepped to the side as the two of the Embrian Court’s vampires repositioned the wooden crate so that it was between the two parties as well. “Neither I nor my associates have any objections to this exchange,” she said as she stepped back toward the table, resting one hand on it. “We are ready to proceed to the negotiations.” featherleg

((GAH, This has been sitting on my iPad for a while. It’s been mostly done, but it’s gone through a ton of revisions… x.x As you read through this, it might be evident as why the revisions were necessary X.X BUT, I will post with Derrick in the morning. Postíng should be more frequent now that I’ve mostly survived the storm of deadlines))
Rowlin listened to Celestia weigh her reasoning to the cause. She had a point- of course she did… His head slightly dropped at the thought. “Yea…” He softly replied to her stance. “You’ve never backpedaled on your promises.” His shoulders dropped as he shifted to the side of the chair, feeling like he was on the edge of a cliff with his feet dangling across the abyss before him. And yet, something about this situation brought him a tiny laugh, like a child who had just been singled out for their wrong doing and was now receiving scolding and yet-in panic they giggle, as he was now. His gaze softened as he rose his head up to meet Celestia’s gaze.
“I’m not worried about what comes after removing them… maybe I’m just afraid of what life without them, could be like.” He confessed the idea.
He fell silent, reaching for his pocket to pull out a set of keys, but amongst the few keys there was a dark green item, it almost looked like an air tag (a tracker), but upon closer inspection the small square item clipped to his keys was made out of pure crystal. He held onto the crystal tag specifically, then hovered another hand over the crystal tag too, focusing intently on the tag itself. The crystal tag began to dim green, at the same time the gauntlets around his wrists also sparked-reacting to the use of magic. Rowlin flinched in reaction to the sparks, shocking him- in the past light shocks were irritating but now it felt just as painful as a strong current. “I guess… We need to ask the source himself…” He had bitten his tongue in pain. With the hand that was hovering over the crystal spawned an item that was out of character-and maybe so familiar.
A letter-likely more as indicated by the very thick filled envelope, cautiously wrapped with a dark blue string. The type of material making the envelope, and its contents inside indicated it was much older then it appeared.
“A while back I received a message from a source in South America, initially I assumed it was a suggestion to study down there-It became a summer consideration-“ He reached out towards Celestia with the massively large enveloped letter to hand her. “-Then I received a message that had me immediately drop what I was doing, and fly down to South America.” His gaze grew distant as his hands were relieved of the letter, yet in a way-feeling like he had lost something, again… “I-I thought I collected all there was but I guess there’s more letters yet to be collected?” His voice had drastically softened. “I haven’t opened it… just like I was tasked to never open them first…”
The letter was turned downside, with the folds in view ready to open-but should the letter be turned where a bow was set with the dark blue string, despite the aesthetics what awaited on the other side was the attention getter. On the other side was distinct writing, one from the past long written and speaking from a different time.
The top of the envelope had writing on it as follows; “My regrets”
The style of the writing was that of a former advisor, and yet the words written words were out of place. Upon untying the bow, and opening the envelope, there was written papers, maps, sketches of landmarks, and a crafted key wrapped within a crimson cloth.
The first letter at the top of the stack was full of writing at a glance structured like a letter…
To the Hakuryuu circle,
I take it you were not expecting to hear from the long forgotten? Perhaps, neither have I, but it appears as lady fate has made her presence. I take it that times have since changed, perhaps for the better if this letter has made its way to the ones whom have been entrusted to care for advisor S(ukaizen) Willow at a much later time. Should you be receiving this letter, rather then hearing it from myself then I take it the worst has come to fruition… nonetheless I am proud to have served for the Hakuryuu as has my circle whom followed me into every battle knowing fully well the burden our people the Solai (Solej) brought upon the world.
I write this out of order, from the expected format of my previous, and most likely upcoming letters. The Solej or as outsiders have come to know, Solai have caused many atrocities that cannot and shall never be forgiven. Despite this unfortunate circumstance, the Solej have taken it upon themselves to uphold this wrong by stepping out of their boundary known once as sole-healers to combat the Solai whom have lost their ways.
If this letter has reached whom its intended recipient then my worst fears have to fruition. I take it the restraints placed upon advisor-My brother are reaching the end of its lifespan and this letter further ponders the fact that the one person least expected to survive has outlived us all. With that in mind, I take it you are looking for a solution to remove them? Of course… it is only natural to assume provided the conditions of my request to relay this letter some time much later.
The conditions for removal are simple…assuming the three whom been entrusted are still of the living.
Celestia Akiyama | Derrick S. Hendrix | Lady Aika Hakuryuu
Should these three still be amongst the living, they must be assembled to complete the ritual as preparations have been prepared prior to assure the process of release goes as intended. When the three involved are present, each must provide a drop of sange, in the presence of my brother-more so on the restrictions which mask what he truly is.
Upon removal, shall the mask of old be no more…
However…
[The writing appeared to stop, on this page but there was more writing on the next page and its style was quickly different then before]
I find myself unable to write this further in a professional manor, something which is expected of us however… this hurts me to write….
The restrictions are not intended to be removed, the fact that I am writing this let alone the idea of this being read-it sickens me to the core. How I hope this letter never reaches the rays of light but should it see the dawns of day, then my worst fears have come to pass.
My brother must have awakened, with it the memories-all suppressed by our mother to assure he live away from this hell, this horror, and at last eventually pass like that of a human.
Regardless, I assume this letter has been retrieved by a favor entrusted through a secret. Now maybe I’m thinking too far into this but there is a method to remove these. I set it ahead of time to respond to the sange, blood as it is called, that belongs to the three individuals whom been working with my brother, as noted in the previous page. Each must willingly provide a drip of their blood onto the restrictions, while Rowlin’s wrists rest in a crossed position. Afterwards, Rowlin too must provide a drip of his own sange to untangle the webs which bind him.
Heed caution, as simple as this sounds it is just as deadly and can kill my brother on the spot should one of the three noted above carry hesitation in their heart. I don’t anticipate forgiveness, not one of us Solej expect forgiveness, nor shall the same be expected of Rowlin; hate and vengeance are to be expected-and another cause for these restrictions to never come off. Until you decide whether to free him from these restrictions, bear in mind that those restrictions will soon end their life cycle, and when they do, they will take his life in a painful manor. If you feel another method be necessary to take his life, I ask … it be done painless or at most immediately.
I-I don’t like the idea of ending his life however he wasn’t meant to outlive these restraints, and our elders passed an initiative to end our existence as a means to uphold our burden. …. ….
Lastly, whichever route is decided, I leave that to fate. However, I do include a key and map to my personal quarters which have more detailed accounts to the events prior to the war, and continuous ongoing logs throughout the war. I assumed that if this letter never see the eyes of day, then this growing archive too be buried in the past. Yet, assuming it is being read-then it is only sufficient I provide what my people are working to erase….
Sincerely, Vincent W(illow). Sukaizen

(It’s a lot of color coding floor plans and calculating square footages. Not too hard, but time consuming.)

And...sorry for falling asleep on you.” Rosestar Back then, Dalton didn't ask questions. Well, he asked one question, and it was when he begged his parents to let him stay home from school to make sure Aika was okay. Those days, he didn't pay attention in class, even though half of the fun of school was making sure he had fun facts or funny stories to bring back home to Aika. She was home-schooled, and seemed fascinated by his private, but otherwise ordinary school. There was more than one hare-brained scheme to get her in his class. But none of it mattered when she got the chills. School was the worst thing in the world when Aika wasn't feeling well. He would rush home, occasionally threatening to call a taxi service if his parents couldn't get there on time (which his mother was always amused by).
Now, while he was still worried of course, Dalton had been a detective for several years. He was used to asking questions now. The one he never asked in his childhood was why is this happening? He didn't recall seeing anything in her employee file either. Perhaps they had gotten less severe over the years to when she didn't need to make note of it for an employer? That still didn't explain the actual aliment itself. He couldn't think of anything that fit that criteria, but he was no doctor.
Luckily, he knew one of those.
For now, they had a relaxing morning ahead of them. "You're welcome. And don't worry about that, you're always welcome to do so again," he added, a light joke, like how he used to as the workplace flirt, but his eyes were serious. If she needed rest, or someone to keep her warm, he didn't know why it couldn't be him again.
(I'm back, sorry y'all <3)
