I'm actually glad that they killed off Hollyleaf. No, no, keep going. Don't get upset at me, I have a reason to think this.
Recently there's been so many bland characters and litters that have been tossed aside. Cinder x Lion's litter, while Fernsong is decent, we don't know about the others.
People were mad about the Erins killing off Hollyleaf, but think about it. She would have been tossed aside to collect dust.
She was not ready for the Clan to become deputy.
She hadn't entirely gained her Clan's trust back when the "truth" came out about Ashfur.
I was never mad that Hollyleaf had died, and I was very satisfied with how they ended her life. She gave her life up to save someone she hardly knew. If she stayed, who knows how long the real truth would have been kept a secret? And do you think Hollyleaf would have even been truly happy within her own Clan? She lived with guilt when she returned. She even said she didn't deserve to be part of the Three.
I think, for once, the Erins made the right choice. I'm only upset about them killing off Spottedleaf twice, because it was disrespectful to Firestar and they could have developed her better without killing her.

i wasn't really mad either. it made sense for her to die in the great battle.
The Forgotten Warrior probably shouldn't have been the fifth book though.

Well, I'm mad as he-double hockey sticks about it. There was no reason to kill her off. Sure, it could 'complete her character arc', but if the Erins weren't going to use her or were/are too daft to come up with a means to bring her back, it is utterly pointless to do so! There are so many things they could have done with her character arc besides have her show up then kill her off. She could have lived and survived, symbolically overcoming her inner demons and finding hope yet again. She could have become deputy, giving her a reason to return. I recall the reasons I gave as to why she would be perfect as the next leader of Thunderclan, leading herself and ThunderClan to a new legacy and future, essentially unshackling the metaphorical bonds that kept her held in fear and regret. She could have become a sort of outside help like Ravenpaw and Barley were. She's afraid to return, but perhaps Dovewing finds her and she asks her (Dovewing) to keep her existence secret. She might be leave a gift of two that mysteriously appears around camp, before disappearing back into the tunnels. The point is, I'm salty and justified in my sodium capacity. There is no excuse for lazy or weak writing. If you had nothing to make Hollyleaf a story with, she should have never been put into the story. But she has, and I'm furious about her lost potential.
I'm starting to think one of the real reasons why she was killed off is because Kate doesn't like her. Which is stupid if that's the case.

As much as I love her character, I have to admit that I was completely satisfied with her death. She received a bittersweet, emotional sendoff. It could've been a lot worse tbh.

I thought I was the only one who thought this. She sacrificed her life for Ivypool, and it's probably true that if she were still alive, she'd be shoved into the corner and forgotten as just another bland ThunderClan warrior. I loved how she died, it was satisfying and she is peacefully resting on StarClan. Though I can't help wondering how she is in terms with Ashfur . . .

Although I'm glad that Hollyleaf at least had an on-screen death that was emotional, I still wish they hadn't killed her off. She had much more potential.
I really wanted her to keep trying to atone for her actions like she told Lionblaze she wanted to do, when they were out in the forest. I think it could have been a good closure if she had worked her way up to being accepted in her clan again.
Plus Hollyleaf could have talked to the Dark Forest trainees (who were sorry and wanted to still be loyal to their living clan) about what they had done, and help them get on the right track again. I think Hollyleaf would have told them her experiences of trying hard to redeem herself.
And given time, she could have become a strong deputy.
I think she should have given Brambleclaw a life, and they could have had a touching moment.
Hopefully she'll be shown in StarClan.

I'm more angry at how her death was written, than her dying. Jayfeather, and Lionblaze seemed to care less that their sister was dying/dead. They showed little to no care in the world about it, and it really pissed me off.
Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw also should have been there as she was dying, not just Leafpool. It just really irks me how Ivypool grieved more for Hollyleaf than her actual family.
And while yes, in BS it went more into Squirrelflight and Bramblestar's feelings about her death, it was still just poorly executed imho.

I'm glad too . I always thinked that if Hollyleaf was still alive , she was going to become a bland character , with a boring tom , how was happened with Lionblaze .Hollyleaf's death was her save from not becoming a boring character . But , I'm mad about how their brothers accept the thing that THEIR SISTERS WAS DEAD .
But , I think her death could be much more worse , so I'm happy that the Erins write her death in the way how they wrote it .
