( I was just about to say Bubblekit's is the cutest too! XD )
"Vigilant and Hunter... but that's besides the point..." He responded with a sigh. "It was a long while ago, and I do not entirely regret coming here. However it is my reason... for coming here... that I have never told anyone. Nor why I didn't become a warrior here. Both my parents were collectors and my brother as well... they liked herbs, and helped Molewhisker all the time with his medicine cat duties, especially after Whitefall's death, and it was family tradition. I didn't become one, I didn't have patience for collecting, or even just helping to heal the sick." He began.

Emberspark purred loudly as she looked over at Timberstone with a small smile. "Who do you think should be Bubblekit's mentor? I think Gingerfoot would be a good fit."

Wildmist listened, struggling to keep up with unfamiliar names. "How were you able to obtain that patience?" She asked softly, knowing a unfortunate story must be coming. She put her tail on his shoulder in preparation.

Owlwhisker frowned. "Guess I spoke too soon again. Let me get that for you." he offered.

"I can see Gingerfoot being suitable," timberstone mewed with a nod and licked her ear. "She'd have the patience and compassion to help Bubblekit."

"Who should my mentor be?" Palekit squeaked out from under her mother's fur.

Haynose blinked and tilted his head. “Why does it matter why I would?” He countered. “Does everything have to have a motive?" (Hi Cardinal c: Want to rp??? I have everyone except Haynose free)

( Cardinal, thank you and Wildmist for saying just that lol. Because I have been trying to finish piecing what happened to Nightglisten's traveling companion during their apprentice's journey and that sorta helped a bit, the patience thing. XD )
Nightglisten was quiet for just a moment. However, his face still serious, he stopped walking and finally said, with another, deep breath. "In PineClan, apprentices are expecting to prove themselves in some way before becoming a warrior. We depend- or rather, they depend on teamwork." He began. "Every clan does I know, but PineClan went a bit further and put a lot of effort into keeping the clan loyal to each other... thus, I was assigned to work with Moonpaw during my apprentice's journey. On the journey we'd have strive out miles away from our clan on our own, with rarely any patrols sent to check up on us- it... depended on the case. Anyways... Moonpaw was a rather out of place tom. His mother died when he was born and he was named after her, and his father died shortly after. He didn't think he thought anyone cared about him and he would say it all too much. The type that always complains for any little thing... We went out on our trip and traveled for several days into a small valley a bit deeper into the mountains. It wasn't clan territory, so naturally, we met some strange cats who lived at a twoleg's barn. They were a little group, but still outnumber us, just being two. They didn't seem hostile... at first." He meowed, then stopped for a minute.

Owlwhisker shuffled his paws, embarrassed. "Sorry about that. How do I always scare more prey than catch with you?"
(I lowkey ship this.)

Sootfur followed behind Ferndapple, waking up as she heard the commotion from the kits outside. "Hey Ferndapple!" Sootfur called out, running up to her. "Want to go on a hunting patrol?" she asked her friend. "I'm starving!"

(Haha I'm glad it worked out!)
Wildmist raised an eyebrow. She thought apprentices going that far out was a mousebrained idea, and appreciated more of the assessments OakClan did instead. "Whatever happened couldn't have been your fault.." Wildmist murmured, trailing off.

"But it was. You haven't heard the entire story." Nightglisten continued, a touch of anger in his voice, but it wasn't directed at her. "The cats there were almost operated like a gang... I think that's the word for it. They were not a clan, and a bit aggressive, but never very much so unless you went to their barnyard without permission. In fact they seemed very friendly at first... Moonpaw went to regularly visiting them. He started slacking on our mission to survive on our own, and got easy meals with these cats that twolegs would give 'em. I would stay back at a cave we were living at and tried to scold him, stop him from talking with them, but eh kept going back. One day I finally caught him chatting with one of their she-cats, mentioning how he wished he could stay there with them. However, by then I had seen how they acted with cats who were not part of their little gang; they would steal prey from a few forest loners, and even attacked an elderly cat just because he drank water at a small stream in the barn vicinity they claimed as their's. They would have killed him if the twoleg hadn't chased them away! I spied on Moonpaw and them one night when I woke up and Moonpaw was still out alone. They were inside the barn, so I watched from a small crack that was towards the ceiling of the structure... he was telling them all about the clan, and then left. I was about to follow him when I overheard them afterwards..."
He kept walking at this, and meowed on. "I know they couldn't have done real harm. I know that now I knew that then! They were only five or so cats. Thats' nothing compared to a clan, let alone PineClan at the time. I overreacted... they had some... sneaking idea on taking advantage of the clan and trying to start trouble with us. So I followed Moonpaw. Back to the mountain cave. He was there ahead of me... I tried to talk to him, but nothing ever got through to him, not then, not before. He trusted these strangers, and I think he even loved the one she-cat he'd admitted he wanted to stay with."
He sounded a touch angered again, although his tone was steadily growing quieter as he walked a bit slower again. "It was ridiculous how he placed such... such trust in these complete strangers and none in me, or PineClan! Who had raised him and fought beside him and took care of him his whole life! I didn't have any patience for him, we argued, but like what sometimes happens it moved from words to a fight. He didn't start it, I was just so tired of hearing his voice... I... I didn't mean for him to die, but I pushed him back and he... fell... down the mountain. It wasn't high and I didn't expect it, I thought he'd be fine, I didn't mean to shove him over the edge, but the rocks... I-I didn't know any healing herbs, that was his job in our mission. He was alive but he didn't last the night." His voice slowed to a stop and he also stopped walking, lashing with a paw at some nearby grass and flicking it with his claws, focusing on that and not daring to look up at Wildmist.

Wildmist stared at Nightglisten in disbelief for a few moments, blinking and trying to process everything. She sighed and walked over to Nightglisten. "Nightglisten... you aren't a murderer." She sat next to him. "Yes, the cats were small in number, but you had years of TimberClan furthering their advance on your territory and killing your cats! Of course you were going to think of them as a serious threat, you didn't want any more unwanted, aggressive cats on your territory. And as for Moonpaw... that was an accident. You had no idea he was going to fall." she lifted his head up with her paw so he could look at her. "I'm sorry you had to live so long thinking it was your fault."

Wolfeyes looked up at her with wide eyes as she lifted his face to look at her. He wasn't crying, although the expression on his face looked like a startled rabbit. He wrapped his bushy tail a bit protectively around his paws and reached one paw towards Wildmist's paw, drawing it away from him. "But it was my fault." He said quietly as he gently left his paw on her's after pushing it away. He looked at their paws for a moment before drawing away again.
"I was upset with him for not thinking things through better, for not being careful, but nor was I. I had days to think about it as I traveled to where I found OakClan. I was more empty headed and even worse than he was. I had a loving family who cared, he didn't, I was considered a great hunter and fighter, he was always pushed aside. But I had never appreciated the things I had while I had them... no. Maybe I'm not a murderer. I felt I was then, but I know looking back it... wasn't intentional. But I was ungrateful for everything I had and far too willing to show aggression than have patience and try and understand others... even if they were more similar to me than I initially thought."
He looked at her now, his eyes seeming to become a bit less frantic as he sighed and rubbed his face with a paw. "... I fear I'll just go back to how I was. I still get angry at others for simple things... when I had Mooneyes as an apprentice I tried to teach her how to defend herself, she's blind, I thought she needed it, even more than cats with sight, but I couldn't teach her anything, she never seemed to get anything right... and I gave up too soon. What if she gets killed because I still was not patient enough to teach her? And what about you? That day, when you where attacked, I should have told you to come with me back to camp, with badgers still in the territory wandering about, but I didn't want to deal with you then and I didn't think. I only thought about myself and my position as medicine cat, not about how you feel. Even now I do not think I'm competent enough to continue with my job but I don't want to give it up for the better of the clan!"

Wildmist sighed. "Now you have a chance to make things right with your family though. To make up for lost time! Ashtail is here, you should talk to him. Even if you don't really know him. He's your family. We've all taken advantage of things before. I always thought Ravenstep would be here. If I knew he would've died when he did... I would've made him feel more self confident, maybe stood up to our father.. But I didn't. We all make mistakes, Nightglisten. But we make a disservice to the ones we've lost if we continue to have that feeling eat at us. I bet Moonpaw would tell you how much you sound like him right now." She stood up, standing to face him. "And Mooneyes has been training with Ravenheart to get better on her fighting. Who's to say you loosing your patience with her didn't push her to have more drive into achieving what she can?" Wildmist ignored his comment about her badger attack. Not because she thought it was his fault, but because she didn't want to revisit him not loving her as much as she loved him. Instead, she thought about his last comment. "Why do you think you're incompetent?"
