I'm creating a role-play with a friend of mine. The idea we have is a bit complicated and would be better suited if there was some restriction regarding to the amount of cats and family ties. [Family ties are very important in this role-play.] We have two ideas of how to "handle" the issue. The first is claim-a-cat. Simple and easy as well as puts more focus on the role-play over people making characters. Of course, this means people will need to use our characters and are limited to how they can customize the character. The other is to restrict the number of cats in the families until we start in. The issue with that is inbreeding and/or lack of cats we need. The Clans are supposed to be decent in size and there is a need for enough cats for conflicts in and out of the Clans themselves.

I'd say Claim-a-Cat purely because restrictions tend to be ignored by joiners sometimes.

I feel like restricting character slots would be a better option honestly, but only because from personal experience, it's always seemed to work better than the "claim a cat" thing.
