โก Bun โก ; sorry for making you wait so long. it's not that I meant to, though. :') ] Frostriver padded into camp with the she-cat, ignoring the looks of the other cats. What mattered right now wasn't them, it was the cat infront of him. Naturally he would have to come and speak to those adoring eyes, but now really wasn't the time. He couldn't even find it in him to glance away to face their looks, afraid that if he did look away right now, just as the she-cat went up the stairs, that she would be lost to again. A few moments passed before he did follow up with her to the stairs, making a quick note of the little openings to dens on the sides. An interesting camp the she-cat had found. No doubt in his mind that it somehow felt perfect. It wasn't necessarily traditional as their old home, but somehow it was more fitting. A flood wouldn't take this away. That was a thought that eased his heart considerably. >> Ooc << Don't worry babes I know <3
I just have to say i literally love this post, the way you made him admire the camp... i didn't even realize that a flood wouldn't be able to touch it, i didn't make it like that on purpose lol... Like literally you just kinda blew my mind but I was the one that made the camp so i kinda blew my own mind. lol xDDDD

Mistdream nodded and shuffled her paws, a little embarrassed. For being the spiritual cat for the clan, she must not seem too faithful to StarClan. She believed in them, but didn't rely on them. She accepted the elder's wise words to heart. "I suppose." She said, settling down in the grass nest to the Rainwind. The sun dappled her pelt. It was a perfect combination of cool and hot. She sighed, "StarClan does make some nice weather." With a short laugh, Rainwind turned her face towards the sunlight once again. "They sure do." she purred happily. It felt so nice to simply sit in the sun and rest, especially if she had company while doing so, as she didn't have many interesting things to do up in that treehouse. Down here she could at least be a part of the active clan, even if she was only resting. Oakfrost flicked his gaze over to Mintstream as she asked what type of patrol it would. โI was planning for a border patrol.. Though the clan could use the freshkill if you think we should change?โ He said looking to the other warrior for her opinion. He shrugged his shoulders carelessly since he felt both would equally be helpful to the clan. "I thought we could go on border patrol," Mintstream began thoughtfully, "as the rest of the clan is likely to be out hunting already." The warrior had already been out hunting that day, and she didn't really feel in the mood to go again. If the clan needs more prey I can go in the evening she thought to herself before nodding in support of her previous statement. ( โผ pike trickfoot โผ)

( zero, I just made a med cat apprentice ) Copperpaw sniffed at the fresh-kill pile, using his claw to pick out a vole near the bottom of the heap. He hadn't eaten since before sunrise, and his stomach growled at the thought of taking a bite of the prey. With a quick glance around camp, he picked up the vole and carried it to the edge of the clearing. As he dropped the animal, he settled down and took an eager bite. Within a minute the vole had disappeared, and the young tom swiped his tongue around his lips to pick up the last traces of his delicious meal.

Owlpaw spun around on his heel, You haven't done anything yet he thought to himself before jumping at Pinepaw again. This time he aimed lower, his paws connecting with the she-cats flank and pushing her over. "Aha!" he growled happily as he pinned down one of Pinepaw's back legs. ( โผ pike trickfoot โผ ) ((mornin! so i totally burnt my fingers. typing is hard :c ))
Pinepaw realized at the last minute what the tom was attempting to do. Now just duck- "Ah!" The she-cat squeaked; Owlpaw's speed had simply outmatched hers at that very moment. Before she had the chance to slide underneath, he had connected with her backside and had one of her paws in his grasp. With a playful, yet impatient growl, Pinepaw wriggled out of the apprentice's grasp. She stood herself quickly, in case he were to try anything else. Backing up a few steps, she wanted to try being the attacker this time. Paws outstretched, she leaped in his direction. "Your turn!" She exclaimed.

( โผ pike trickfoot โผ Awww, hope you get better soon <3) Owlpaw jumped up as his opponent wriggled out of his grasp, laughing at Pinepaw's surprise. He was about to comment on his easy defeat when she launched herself into the air and towards him. With his ears brushing the stomach fur of the she-cat as he ducked at the last second, he rolled sideways so that he was out of her way. Bouncing quickly to his paws, he yowled before jumping onto Pinepaw's back as she landed a few mouselengths away.

Silentwillow flicked an ear at the approach of the other warrior. His expression was flat as he shot another glance back at where their leader had gone. "No." The response was blunt. Not that he wanted to appear so harsh with his wording, but he had just tried to disregard the very fact that there was an unknown in their camp. Still, realizing that the she-cat might not be satisfied with such a simply worded answer, the tom soon took a moment to ponder. The gray tail of his swishing lowly near the ground. "It's the first time i've ever laid my eyes on him." He elaborated as he chose to meet her gaze now. Unsure as to what she would respond with. Perhaps she had known something? He himself had brought a cat to camp once, but that was back when they needed more warriors. Today, the situation just didn't seem to be the same.

Fishleap rolled the mouse underneath his paw. Nothing was appetizing to the tom. If the appearance of the woodland prey wasn't enough to ruin his appetite, the musky taste certainly was. How these cats could stand it was beyond him. He pushed the mouse away and back into the pile. He decided a patrol would help him work up his hunger and hopefully, he could pallet a small rodent after. An patrol was much better use of his time anyway. Of course, he would need some kind of protection. Fishleap knew he wasn't a good warrior. Any fox or badger that wanted a cat for lunch would find the tom to be an easy meal. He scanned the clearing for any cat to tag along. The only cat who stood out was Coldnose. Fishleap immediately perked up. The tom was an accomplished fighter, so he did fit the bill. Any beast would have trouble fighting the both of them. Only problem was, the other tom was...rough. Something made the young warrior hesitant when approaching. He lashed his tail. A clanmate shouldn't scare him. Fishleap padded over to Cloudnose and flicked his tail in greeting. "Hello. Have time for a border patrol?" He looked around as an excuse not to look at Cloudnose. "One hasn't gone out in quite a long time." He added, now looking at the other tom.
---
Mistdream cracked an eye open when a familiar scent wafted over to her. A couple foxlengths away sat her apprentice. She smiled at the young tom, feeling a flicker of pride. He was already shaping up to be a fine apprentice. A bit quiet, but she suppose it suited the both of them. The medicine cat hauled herself to her paws, finding it hard to move in while in the sun's warming rays. She lightly tapped the elder's should to get her attention. "I need to speak with my apprentice. Thank you for everything." She dipped her head before turning and padding up to Copperpaw. "What have you been doing?" She questioned the tom with curiosity. She must have sent Copperpaw to do something, but she didn't think it would have taken this long. It wasn't an issue in her eyes. She hadn't needed the apprentice around, right then.
(Ah! Sorry this took so long to get up. )

( zero that's okay) Rainwind opened one eye as she felt a light touch on her shoulder. Once she came to her senses and realized that Mistdream was talking to her, she simply let out a gentle purr. As she watched the medicine cat walk away, she closed her eyes again, letting the clear air calm her mind. _________________________ "You sent me to go fetch some fresh moss for our bedding." Copperpaw explained hastily, wondering if he was in some sort of trouble for being gone so long. To be fair, he had gotten distracted by some juniper bushes that had turned out to be empty of any berries, but he wasn't sure if he should mention it. Probably better safe than sorry he thought to himself before opening his mouth again, "And I saw some Juniper bushes so I went to have a look." Juniper was the first healing herb he had learned about, and one of the only ones he could remember after only half a moon as an apprentice. So, naturally, when he saw the dark green plant he had to go to investigate.

Mistdream nodded, trying to hide a pleased smile. Well, she assumed their stock of Juniper berries would be overflowing now. At least the berries could be used for multiple purposes. No harm done. She had no intention to scold her apprentice for being curious. She would rather fuel his nature. Maybe he will find a new herb or a new use. "Let's walk around the territory. I'll show you a couple of good herb spots." She said. She stood up and shook out her pelt. "I'll tell you their uses as well." She promised before starting to walk out of camp.

With a happy nod, Copperpaw got to his paws and started after his mentor. It had been a busy morning, and he hoped that Mistdream wouldn't have him sprint through the forest. Despite his tired legs, he couldn't help but feel a rush of energy at the thought of learning about new herbs. So far he had learnt about poppy seeds, catmint, juniper and marigold, which he supposed were the basic healing plants. Shaking his head to clear it of his thoughts, he trotted purposefully after the medicine cat, his tail waving in the air. ( zero)

Mistdream legs protested at any quick moment, so she kept her pace slow. The medicine padded through the forest, content to quickly trail down the path she had set in her mind. She was planning to stay in the heart of the territory for a guaranteed peaceful walk. Her mind drifted from the birds chirping to the light scent of cats in the air. It was only when she caught a flowery scent, she abruptly stopped. She flicked her tail to a shrub with tiny yellow flowers. "This is Broom. You can harvest its flowers and leaves for a poultice to speed the healing of a broken bone and wound. I usually pair it together with marigold if a warrior has a nasty scratch." She informed the apprentice. All doubt or worry had left her tone. Right now, she was a confident medicine cat with her powerful knowledge of herbs.

Copperpaw stepped forward, sniffing the bush carefully. "If it heals bones why do you use it for scratches?" The Tom asked curiously with no traces of judgement in his voice. He took a hasty step backwards when he inhaled some pollen from the flower, and sneezed quietly. The apprentice cast a slightly embarrassed glance at Mistdream before sitting down opposite her. He didn't want to seem incompetent in front of his new mentor, so he decided to keep his mouth shut before he said something he'd regret. ( zero)

Mistdream made sure to smile, though it didn't take much effort with the tom's sneeze. The medicine cat tried to not twitch her whiskers. She didn't want the quiet tom to go silent if she made him feel like a mousebrain for asking a question. She settled down, wanting to sit for a minute to rest her aching limbs. "Only if the scratch is deep. If the scratch is deep enough, the bone might have been hurt as well." She explained steadily, "If it is just a scrap from training, you can safely use a bit of goldenrod with marigold. I always try to use a bit of marigold when available. You can never be too careful."

With an understanding nod directed at Mistdream, the young apprentice mewed, "That makes sense." He sat in silence for a few moments, turning over this new information in his mind before speaking again, "What is the difference between goldenrod and marigold?" It sounded to Copperpaw as though the two herbs had the same properties, and he wanted to know which was better in its 'job'. ( zero)

"Marigold will fight infections while goldenrod will help the wound heal faster." She explained before a happy tone entered her voice, "But they do look slightly similar. Both have yellow flowers. Though one's flowers are much smaller and it does have a taller stem..." She trailed off, feeling embarrassed for almost getting caught in her mind. She stood up again and started to pad off. She could heard the distant sounds of scuffling cats. There was no yowling, so she assumed it was a practice session. It did sound lively. She felt a bit bad for Copperpaw and wondered if this was considered boring. The life of a medicine cat was a lot more waiting around and treating splinters than running around and healing major wounds. Thankfully, battles seemed to be rare. She looked back at her apprentice. "Would you like to train a bit with the warrior apprentices one day? A couple of defense moves would help if you come across anything patrolling." She offered, trying to muster up enthusiasm. She never liked fighting and really didn't want to learn, but she couldn't decide for her apprentice.

Copperpaw's eyes lit up with curiosity as the medicine cat explained the properties of the herbs. Since as long as he could remember he had been drawn to plants and berries, and he was excited to finally be learning about them. When Mistdream stopped talking and started to pad deeper into the forest, the apprentice scrambled to his paws and trotted after her. He didn't really understand why she had cut short her explanation, but he decided not to question it. "Maybe one day." he mewed in response to Mistdream's statement a few moments later, "I suppose even a medicine cat needs to know how to protect himself." He wasn't the biggest fan of violence, but he guessed that some fighting moves would be good to know in case he got attacked. ( zero)

She nodded, trying to hold back the grateful feeling rising in her. To her, he did seem a bit young to be learning moves. Honestly, most of the new apprentices were too young in her eyes. She was secretly glad her apprentice didn't seem to have any real interest in battle yet. She wouldn't want her apprentice coming back with scratches and bruises most of the other apprentices held proudly like they were battle scars. Honestly, she was a bit worried about everyone leaving camp. Her ears perked at the sound of the waterfalls approaching. She had veered off course. Her ears twitched back in embarrassment right before she caught a scent in the air. The tangy scent was unmistakable. She flicked her tail in signal to stop. She turned with ears perked. "What can you smell?" She asked with a small smile.

Trotting happily after his mentor, he barely noticed when she stopped in her tracks. He had been too busy looking at all the bushes and trees, and almost crashed into Mistdream's side. "Erm," Copperpaw sat down heavily, his ears twitching with slight embarrassment. The smell of the river flooded his mouth when he tasted the air, alongside some prey scents. "Well, I can smell the waterfall up ahead," he began tentatively, "and I think there's a mouse that passed by here a while ago." The apprentice opened his mouth again and noticed the smell of a plant which he didn't recognize. He tilted his head to the side and gazed into the forest, trying to tell where the smell was coming from. ( zero)

Mistdream couldn't help but to feel a twinge of disappointment. She supposed she couldn't expect the tom to pick up any scents he wasn't use to. He was probably feeling it but then dismissing the scent as something odd. "It's the tangy scent in the air. It isn't strong here, so I understand if you can't pick it up." She tried to reassure the tom. She padded and stopped when the forest broke into the meadow. She stopped at a tiny, leafy plant. "This is comfrey. I like to call it the miracle herb." Her whiskers twitched at her own little joke. "It can treat and soothe wounds, speed the healing of burns, eases stiffness in joins, and to stop itching." She swept the leaves back with a paw. "The leaves or stem are not used. The root is the only part we use. Right now, the plant is too small. We will only get enough root for one cat. We will harvest this in a couple of moons." She removed her paw and let the leaves spring back. "I'm just showing you this now, so you can collect it later."

Copperpaw padded after his mentor, sniffing the air as the strange scent grew stronger. As he stopped beside Mistdream and looked down at the small plant, he mewed, "That's what I smelt earlier," the apprentice bent down to sniff the leaves of the herb, "I just didn't know what it was." As he straightened up and listened to the medicine cat list everything Comfrey could be used for, his large blue eyes widened. 'Treat wounds, heal burns, ease stiffness, stop itches' he repeated in his mind, then out loud he mumbled "That sounds like a really rare plant." Struck with a sudden idea, the apprentice mewed louder, "Wouldn't it be a good idea to keep some of the seeds so we can replant it?" ( zero)

Mistdream seemed struck by Copperpaw's suggestion. It was odd. She hadn't thought about it. Normally, she would just let nature take its course. It may be a small patch, but the plants were strong and hardy. However, the idea of planting made her remember her time in the twoleg garden. She was quickly caught up in her memories of the peaceful home which she left. She felt a sudden but powerful longing to sit in the garden again, surrounded by the scent of fresh earth and listen the female twoleg's soft voice. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. No need to think about these things. Not when she couldn't do anything about it. "We can try to collect a few seeds off of the plants we uproot." She said with a nod. "Great idea." She added, almost as an afterthought. She stood up and started to pad back to camp. She realized she was more tired than she had thought when her tail drooped and her muscles protested each step. Still, she wanted to teach her apprentice more. She was sure the smart tom could handle learning more than two herbs at a time. She scented the air to see if she could catch the scent of another herb on the air.

Copperpaw cast Mistdream a proud glance, his tail sticking up in the air as he followed her back towards camp. He was glad that she had approved of his idea, and extremely happy that he had been able to prove his intelligence to her. With a new spring in his tired legs, he brushed past a clump of ferns to catch up with his mentor. With the sun casting dappled light onto his pelt, and the sounds of the forest surrounding him, he couldn't have wished for a better day. It seemed as though the whole world was at peace. With a small smile, the Tom glanced at Mistdream again. She seemed to be tasting the air, and he realized that she was looking for signs of more herbs. Copperpaw drew in a deep breath, trying to pick up any useful smells, but all he could say for sure was that a squirrel had crossed their path. ( zero)

Thankfully, the first herb she found was a dandelion, sitting right in their path. The aching mediicne cat was glad they would have to go off course again. The herb was a little bit of a let down. It wasn't a rare herb and one of the ones she found to be mostly useless. However, she would feel amiss if she left anything out from the young tom's training. "Last one. This is a dandelion. The stem and bottom part of the flower can be chewed and applied to bee stings. The leaves can also be chewed by the hurt cat and most claim they feel less pain. However, I don't find it very effective. The only time I would give it to a hurt cat was if they needed something do to." She said with a flicker of humor returning to her tone.
