I have a black-and-white female cat who is about as old as I am. And I used to have a female dog named Brownie who died about 6 or so years ago.
But it's pretty sad, because we buried Brownie in our backyard, and sometimes Sparky (the cat) will go and sit on Brownie's grave. Plus, she always looks down like she's upset. I think Brownie was the only four-legged creature who Sparky actually liked, because now she hates every pet. (Too bad we have 4, not including her.)
But even to this day, Sparky will go and sit on Brownie's grave and stay there. I wonder why?

animals experience grief just like humans do. some animals grieve longer than others though.
i used to have a cat named Oscar, and when he was young he had a best friend who was also a cat down the street. they would play together and sit together and were just literally best friends. but later on the other cat was run over by a car and Oscar was depressed for ages. he wouldn't go out at all and my mum was really worried about him (she told me about this i was either not born or a baby at the time.) he did get over it after a while, though. but that cat really was the only other cat he really spent time with, so he probably missed him until the end of his own life a few years ago.
and ive also seen videos of animals crying over one another and their deceased masters - animals do experience grief like people. would you have gotten over the loss of someone close to you completely? your cat probably still misses your dog, it's natural. i personally don't think it's anything major to worry about. with the loss of a close friend to your cat comes grief, some animals don't get over these things as well as others - the best you can do is offer Sparky as much comfort as possible.

Thanks for telling me this! This is useful information. Unfortunately, Sparky doesn't really like me (she hardly ever likes anyone) but I'll try.

I've heard that some owners have to show videos of the desceased animal/human to pets to calm them down. They tend to deal with grief in just as many ways as a human can, though
