Hello there, fan fiction forum! I have, well, a mini announcement/ a 'how many people would be interested' type thing.
Once we switched to the new forums, I made a conscious decision to quit writing fan fiction based on a combination of my school workload and feeling like it was time to work solely on my own projects. Unfortunately, this meant abandoning my beloved 'Return to Dust'. Almost a year later, however, and it seems I can't quite let it go. I rediscovered the outline and some of the script the other day, and I found myself falling in love (again) with the characters I created. It made me realise that I am not quite ready to let this story go.
Now, many of you may remember me saying that I would work on a humanised version. Despite poking at it, I have been unable to completely capture the same intensity, the same heartbreak, the same atmosphere of the original fan fiction. The more I played with it, the more I felt the humanised draft move away from the source material until it felt like I was writing two seperate stories - lately, I realised that I am.
So, I suppose the crux of this is - I'm not ready to leave RTD behind and am considering writing (and posting) the fan fiction again.
However, there are some drawbacks to this. When I made the original announcement, I also posted the ending, believing that I would never continue the story. This means that a number of you have read, and possibly still remember, the ending, which kind of takes a lot of 'oomph' out of the story. The second thing is that updates would be incredibly slow until November - if I had any sense at all I'd wait until November to actually start, but I'm not that disciplined.
So, uh, is this something people want to see come back?
