Hey everyone, I've got a Wacom for Christmas last year, but I'm not completely happy with the current art program I use. I've just been using Art Rage Lite, as it came with the tablet. I downloaded Krita as well, which I was told is good, but is a bit overwhelming with all the different settings! If you bought a program, let me know how much it was! Thanks!

OOC I use an app called Ibis paint, it's amazing, and free so that's another plus.

Paint tool SAI has a free month trial and is a pretty straightforward and awesome painting program!

I use Pixelmator; I think it's $30? I like it, but virtually no one uses it and there might be a good reason for that? also I think it might only be for Mac but I'm not certain

Photoshop CC. Not gonna lie, I have the full version, but I didn't pay for it so I have no idea how much it costs.

I used Paint Tool SAI until I got my Surface pro, then I started using Paint Tool SAI 2, both are great. Sai 2 has some new features including transparent backgrounds and more brush settings, but because of the way the settings are it can be harder to use custom brushes from DA and stuff since most people only show how to create them in the original program.
Clip Studio's good too, but I don't use it as much anymore, and I have Photoshop Elements 15 but I haven't really used it much yet... I'm still a bit confused by the layout. xD I downloaded Krita to start learning animation (so far it's the only program with animation settings that I've managed to stay focused on) and it seems pretty cool so far.
If you're confused by anything in the programs, youtube seems to have videos on just about everything. ^^

Paint Tool SAI. I bought it about 5 years ago for $70. It's the only program I like. I've used a lot including GimpStudio, Paint XP/MS, Photoshop CC, Photoshop CS, and Photoshop Elements 8, as well as various Wacom programs, but SAI has been the only one to satisfy me.

I use krita and that's been the most comfortable program I've used. if you want simplicity, I used firealpaca for a while and it's also good but also pretty simple so if that's something you're looking for go for it. most paid programs have a free trial so I'd give a good bunch a try. most of it comes down to personal preference.

Oh I forgot to put the prices SAI/SAI 2 $50 (SAI 2 is a free upgrade, so you only have to pay once.) ClipStudio $49.99 for pro (what I have) or $219 for EX, they both go on sale sometimes for like less than half off or something. Elements 15 depends on where you buy it. I think it goes up to $79 but you can find it for less, I just looked it up and it looks like Target has it for $42

I use Paint Tool Sai for digital art but, honestly, I never paid for it. //sweats I've had it for 6 years now, and always stuck with it. I've tried using other art programs, but Sai has always been this... big sister that just gives me a pat on the back, but just a bit too hard -- QvQ

I used sketchbook pro for a long time, but once I get my tablet I switched to photoshop elements. I got it free through school. It doesn't have as many features as the full photoshop, but I love it.

The Adobe Creative Suite is pretty great, but it's got a monthly fee. Clip Studio Paint is a phenomenal program for a relatively cheap price (on Amazon. I got the 5th edition), so if you're not interested in more than one program in the CC, then Clip Studio is the way to go!

depends on what you want it for
Paint tool SAI is cool, and great for a more digital-art like style, I guess? I've seen some cool realism on there and of course once you master a program you can do anything with it, but for SAI I see a lot more digital styles.
Firealpaca is basically a free version of SAI. you'll miss a few nice features (like canvas settings) and lose lots of customization, but I'm using it right now as an inbetween program until I get a better computer and it's not bad if you don't want to do anything really insane.
I have PSE11 from way back when but I lost the CD and haven't used it since I got a tablet. Honestly, if you can afford PS it's probably worth the try if you're into art hardcore because it has everything you really could ask for in a digital program.
and tbh mastering mspaint is always a good goal. It's a difficult program to get right, but you can make some unique and great things with the right settings.
