Nah...it's not that deep. The Erins were just fan catering tbh. Literally the only development they ever had was the throw away line by Lionblaze when he thought they were mates, but were actually DF trainees and realized he was wrong. It had as much weight as when Bramblestar thought Berrynose wanted Rosepetal as his mate, the Erins forgetting that they're half-siblings apparently. But then Bramble realized he just cared about Rosepetal, cause they lost too many she-cats during rough times, etc. And then skip forward and bam suddenly they're having kits out of no where, with absolutely zero romantic indications. They didn't have to be mooning over one another, but the pure fact that they were both DF trainees seems to be the only real connection that have romantically? Which is dumb, cause Mousewhisker could have been and good option too. And Thornclaw, mature? Yeah....no....he's not mature at all, and being a DF trainee should already speak volumes. He was old enough to be around for Tiger's mess and know a bunch of other bad cats like Hawk, Dark, and Broken, yet still willingly trained there??? Makes even less sense than Birch training there too. And considering his rude and nasty behavior toward Hollyleaf, he's nothing but an immature hot-headed hypocritical old coot. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really care, nor hate his character. I just see nothing appealing about him and Blossomfall being a thing, and honestly there's no real explanation for it except fan catering. Because despite that throwaway line Blossom x Thorn became incresingly popular even before it became canon, even though they had zero romantic development. Sure they're cats, but they act like little humans, maybe some readers are uncomfortable with a young character being with a much much much older character, whether they're cats or not. It's understand able if they don't like it. I understand your points, and I respect them, but I also must add that it's also understandable if other readers do like them. To be honest, I don't think all relationships have to be huge masses of development, nor do they have to have tons of scenes of interaction. And Thornclaw, while showing foolishness in the whole Dark Forest incident, beforehand was shown to be a very active and mature warrior, at least to me. Oh well. If it's fan catering, it seems most people I know didn't like the pairing in the first place? And I mean, it's done and over with, nothing can really change it now. I guess we can just agree to disagree. ^^ I actually don't mind pairings having off screen development as long as their is some sort of implication? Like how Graystripe and Silverstream were flirting right after they met, and Gray began to sneak out of camp sometimes, etc. But there wasn't anything like that with Blossomfall and Thornclaw, just the throwaway line from Lionblaze. I felt like if it made more sense I wouddn't dislike it as much as I do, cause I personally don't care about the age gaps, cause again they're cats and consenting adults. I'm more confused about where it came from as a pairing, because imo it seemed very random. And I know a good bunch of people on here hate the pairing, but on other bigger places like YT or Tumblr it much more popular, including pairings like RaggedYellow, HawkIvy, and TigerDove amazingly. We can agree to disagree though, I know people have different taste, and it's fine if they like the pairing. But I just personally think it's not written too tastefully.

If the characters weren't humans in fursuits, I wouldn't have as much of a problem. However, they do not act like real cats. Even then, the notion that real cats mate with whoever is inaccurate. Cats can get picky just like humans. Some cats don't care who they breed with, others are highly selective. But back to my point. The characters are written with human emotions and morality mindsets. They care about their family, are able to work together in a hierarchy built society to care for one another...This means that our morals, and what we find morally right and wrong pertain to the characters. I do not urge anyone to look at these as just cats. Typically speaking, we are greatly repulsed by large age gaps. It makes logical sense, as an older person is less likely to carry on the gene pool to the next generation. By that same logic, it doesn't make sense to have a younger generation character with someone as old as Thornclaw, who is nearly as old as her father, Graystripe. (Wiki gives me Graystripe at 125 and Thornclaw at 122) Blossomfall is 57 moons. This means that when Blossomfall was born, Thornclaw was 65 moons. In human terms, that is often considered unacceptable and a taboo. Perhaps it wouldn't have back when everyone died younger, but in today's age's, that is akin to a 30 year old with someone at 60 years or more - like someone's daughter marrying someone their father's age. In human morality, it is considered wrong. Considering the characters think like us - humans - it goes to show that we have a valid complaint about this pairing. Thornclaw is about 88 cat years and Blossomfall is a little less than 48.

I think I'm the only who is agree with this . If they are happy , why do all disagree with this ?
But , I want to see some developement , a SE , which cand explain Blossom's choice to take Thorn as mate . ( Maybe , named Blossomfall's choice : Blossomfall is mad because Millie's behaviour , and want to leave the clan , but nobody cares . Thornclaw saw it . Thorn followed her in her journey , and , when she's atacked , he protect her . After it , they continued their journey together , and in final , they will returne to the clan , as mates . I think it could be cute a developement as Gray-Millie to Blossom-Thorn *-* )

honestly it sounded like a rushed way to make new pointless background characters and have something else going on besides whatever Alderheart and Twigpaw do. The Erins are bad about this. Two cats of different genders doing something together, oh they're mates now. We rarely see a platonic friendship between a male cat and a female cat unless one is a medicine cat or apprentice of the other (and even then those get turned into romance) or something, and of course the Erins aren't going to have an explicitly gay romance in their books besides TallXJake (which even then was kind of veiled under "oh they're just very good friends"). I'd prefer the two are good friends and have a mentor-apprentice kind of relationship instead of a romance between a relatively young cat and a cat who should be an elder.
honestly I thought blossom was a lesbian and thorn was gay, but as I said above...
