Idk why but I'm in my trademark emo mood right now like a callback to the good ol' days, and I feel like I could really get some edgy, possibly actiony gayness up in here. Not entirely sure what I'm craving but I know it's dark and gay. Feel free to just throw some stuff out I guess.
I'm looking for someone who is at least semi-literate (good grammar + a decent-sized paragraph or more most posts) and will be on and active for a while tonight. Not necessarily looking for something real long-term but I'm up for it if it ends up being interesting. Genre/topic-wise I'm thinking Victorian (probably not supernatural, just vaguely historical), modern supernatural or some other type of action (doesn't have to be supernatural, but if it's not supernatural it has to have some kind of action involved. Like, idk, spies or something), near-future sci-fi dystopia of some sort, or far-future sci-fi (probably not with aliens). Also willing to hear out other genres, particularly if it's very interesting fantasy, historical, supernatural historical, or apocalyptic. Or possibly some sort of dark fairy tale theme, Labyrinth or Dark Crystal style. Not really into slice-of-life, might be willing to hear an idea if it's something pretty unique. Not feeling fandoms atm. Kinda wanting some darker type themes, not anything insanely dark but just like... kind of edgy I guess. Combat, maybe some death, tragic backstories, bit of dystopia, that sort of thing. Nothing bubbly happy cheerful, not at all.
Also like I said, kinda want something gay too. Mxm gay not fxf gay. However I am not into strictly romance plots so, like, romance of any sort will probably not be the forefront/main focus of this, and depending on the plot/characters/events, may not even happen. I guess we'll see. But ideally just male characters, or at least male main characters (though I will not stop you from having female secondary characters). I should note that I am not in favor of love at first sight and so there would have to be some build if romance is in fact involved.
I'm in a mood rn where I'm not entirely sure what I want to rp but I'll know when I see it so don't feel bad if I reject some of your ideas, it's nothing personal, it's just that whatever kind of weird rp craving I have I gotta get out of my system and nothing else will do lol. So, any ideas? I'll also note that I'm up for multiple rps for tonight, I'm in an active mood lol. So just because someone's responded doesn't mean this is closed. However, I would prefer to avoid "duplicates." So, like, no more than one Victorian plot, no more than one far-future sci-fi plot, and so on.

Hmm, I have an angsty non-binary character that I could certainly try to use if you want

I got no real ideas, but I'm thinking something like a zombie apocalypse scenario. I'm up for ideas though

Yeah I have a zombie apocalypse concept that I had for an rp a while ago and which I'm now also writing a book of lol. We could use that but it's slightly more complex than "well there are zombies now."

Hey, if that's what makes it interesting, I'm all game for complication

Sure ^^ it's still not SUPER complicated, just, more complicated than generic, mostly-unexplained zombies.
Basically, on one day, everyone on Earth just dies. Those who are left are left without any clear explanation, but anyone with a concept of biology would come to the conclusion- or at least something similar to the conclusion- that the virus or other disease type had spread invisibly and then was triggered practically simultaneously by an unknown force. Globally, in fact, over the span of about an hour, but of course those details aren't necessarily confirmed to our characters.
A few hours (the exact time varies from person to person) after the disease triggers, a very small portion of the population- about 1 in 10,000- actually wake back, since the disease had actually only knocked them out. However, the disease mutated their bodies; again, the exact effects vary from person to person. The mutations can range from positive to benign to negative; they overwhelmingly consist of minor aesthetic changes such as changes to hair or eye color, or to sensory changes in the forms of limiting/removing certain senses or, in rarer cases, enhancing them. Some people might also find themselves affected mentally, generally when it comes to their emotions; they may find themselves more or less emotional than before, or have other small changes, such as an easier time focusing. Mental changes are very uncommon though. Of course, none of this is known to our characters, who have only their own personal experience for reference of the disease's effects, and even then they probably don't understand the full scope of their own mutations, not for a while at least.
About a day or two after that, everyone else starts to wake back up too, but they're not lucky enough to be alive. Instead, they attack the living- including animals- and occasionally even each other. Obviously, it's around this time that our characters start to realize how truly screwed they are. After an undecided amount of time, our two characters happen across each other somehow. They might not necessarily like each other at first, but seeing as at that point they're literally the only living humans left as far as either can tell, they decide it's probably best for them to not kill each other and maybe even stick together. And then who knows where it goes from there.
Lol sorry that ended up being kind of a long explanation, I can't help but narrate rather than just explain XD

You're fine, I like the plot! It gives us something to work with than just the whole "fight zombies" issue. I can see my character having an eye color change and have better eyesight with it... Meh. I like it!

Yeah my character's mutations are fairly extensive. Overall pigment changes, increased senses, which include better night vision and increased visual sensitivity to light, and a slight body temperature change which results in a higher energy requirement, a need for more sleep, and a slightly higher resistance to the cold.

Haha, whereas my character is hella basic, but I do like the slight cold resistance idea, plus I'll explain that their skin changed so they're super pale... XD Want to make forms for them or just start out?

Always a good first impression. Maybe mine bursts into a house or other such building running from zombies and startles yours? And they're both just like waaaaaaat living hoomin?

Lol alright. Hm. Okay final thing. Exact setting. Like, a general part of the country, and level of urbanization at least. Generally I go with rural/suburban Virginia or North Carolina, somewhere between the mountains and sea.

Awesome. I'm semi-familiar with it. Not specifically those states, but that type of semi-Appalachian area. Cool so. You wanna start or should I? Maybe you should just so I know where my character needs to go lol

hey! uh, I'm just gonna,, slide in here so you want angst and gays? I have this ridiculously insane character that's half crazed party animal, half mechanical engineer, and half depressive wreck. (shoot, just realized I used three halves. well he's definitely a 150% type of guy, so,) but he's definitely a little boss, with his attitude and everything, and is the flamboyant but tough and cold type. this might all be a bit contradictory but it'll all make sense once I give you a full, in depth character analysis. anyway! I usually use this dude for slice of life roleplays, so are there any plots/scenarios that you'd like to do?

Heheh, I will try my hardest)
Rei hated feeling like they had no control in their life. If anything, it was one of the things they dreaded the most. Sure, waking up to find everyone unconscious was extremely weird. For at least a day, they had free reign over whatever they pleased. That got boring really fast since they had no idea how to even work a movie in the theaters, they had to sit in the back since their vision was really weird anyway. It was a bit of a shame really. So they had gone into hanging out in the woods until they got the urge to raid a Walmart. Now that had been a fun day. It wasn't until later the next day that people started to wake up and try to kill them. They seemed different and would just try to kill them, of course Rei was terrified and didn't feel like dying. Then they had bothered to look at their own face, finding the skin pale to the point of translucence, and their eyes were bright blue. Great, now they looked like a black-haired blue-eyed beauty. They wanted to grimace. But there was time for that later. For now, they had proceeded to hole themselves up in a decent house with food and water. At least they had the basics. But there was still the matter of boarding up windows and doors. They figured that there would be a time for that. They could only kneel on the floor and occasionally look out the window while keeping the hunting knife close. They made a mental note to try finding a gun store soon.

silvermoonblaze : same
@viridian : I understand perfectly. Sounds awesome lol. As for plot ideas.... like I said, I'm not huge on slice of life, unless you can think of something that's just insanely interesting. Personally, I can't. However, if we just... change the time period... then it could work. I would say probably either Victorian or futuristic. It's up to you really. "Mechanical engineer" might work better with the latter, but of course it could also work with the former, possibly making it a bit steampunk. I'm up for either scenario if you are.
