It's been a while since I've done a good Clan roleplay so I'm feeling like it might be that time again. Usually when I start to become discouraged with roleplay, it's Warriors that I come back to, because it's easy and familiar to rp, and it's a good way to get those creative juices flowing without having to use up all your mental energy.
So, I'm looking to make a couple of Clans. I'm thinking just a couple, two or maybe three. I would just go ahead and come up with one by myself, but I kind of prefer having two or more, since a major part of what makes a Clan a real Clan is that rivalry with those whom it shares its borders with. Inter-Clan interaction is something that is very interesting to me, and the way those relationships and interactions develop in roleplays is something I love to see. Thus, I find single Clans almost a bit boring. But I digress.
For the sake of some kind of centralized conflict, I think I would like to introduce a prophecy. I generally shy away from those for a few reasons: they're difficult to coordinate in roleplay, and they can sometimes be overused. Also, of course everyone wants their character to be "the chosen one" in the prophecy, something that is just not possible. But, I feel like if we plan the Clans out well enough, we could make it work.
Currently, I'm thinking two Clans, perhaps Clans which originated as one and subsequently split, but their precise history can be discussed. The two Clans should either have a very perfect, peaceful relationship, or should have a terrible and violent relationship. The reason for this, of course, is the prophecy, which depending on the CURRENT nature of the relationship would be either to tear the two Clans apart or to repair their bond. How, why, when, and who can, of course, be debated.
As for structure, for these two I want to go entirely with the cookie-cutter Clan model, with no variations. No unique roles, only minor unique traditions. For territory, again, something fairly basic- a temperate location similar to in the series, nothing to extreme. Of course, the locations within the territories can still be interesting and unique, even if the climate is normal. Basically, I want the focus to be on the Clans and its members, and their relationships and development; I feel as though trying to change too much to make the Clans "unique" takes the focus away from that a bit.
I'm wanting the Clan to be a bit more on the literate/semi-literate side. Nothing too intense, but generally good grammar, good character development, and reasonably-lengthed posts, probably a good-sized paragraph (almost) every post, with longer ones thrown in here and there. I wouldn't want anything SUPER literate because I feel as though when it comes to Warriors, making posts too long tends actually hinder the rp more than help it. Past that, I would like the Clan to be at least somewhat active; at least a few posts a day, with more intense bouts of activity here and there hopefully. It doesn't have to gain 5 pages every day, but it should be active enough that the plot keeps chugging along slowly but surely.
And the final thing. Because of the prophecy aspect, I think that the majority of characters should be at least partially planned out beforehand. Not to the degree of a claim-a-cat rp, but I think joining after creation should be fairly limited, and new characters should be fit into existing slots. I like having some sort of structure better than free-for-all for a few reasons, the main one being that it allows all the cats to begin the story with ties to other characters, and some sort of history. A problem with most Clans is that when you start, even though the cats theoretically knew each other their whole lives, they're actually strangers, and that makes beginning interactions difficult. So having some kind of mold- even if just familial relationships- would help that a bit. Also, it should help to sort of spread out the characters over different roles and parts of their lives; after all, in most rps they tend to sort of cluster around the 14-26 moon "promising young warrior" group.
So, anyone interested?
