Ever since MV was released, I didn't understand how ThunderClan could be so harsh on one litter of half Clan kits (Mapleshade's) and be so accepting of another (Windflight.) Then it hit me. What if the reason why they were so accepting of Windflight and his family was because of Mapleshade?
Windflight was already a warrior when GC started. The existence of Nettlebreeze showed us that MV couldn't have been more than ten years before GC. That means that Windflight was born not long after the tragedy of Mapleshade's kits. What if the reason why the Clan accepted Windflight was because they were afraid of what would happen if they didn't? We don't know how old Windflight is. He may have been born during Oakstar's leadership. That would make even more sense if he was.

That could easily be the case. Though it was a little different because Windflight's non-ThunderClan parent joined ThunderClan thus making Windflight not as half-clan. They also didn't have an omen about Windflight, so I'm sure that helped as well.

Why did they allow him to be named Wind-? isn't it against the rules to use the clan name as a prefix?

It is a daily reminder that he is half Clan. Perhaps in the same way Fallowtail requested Graypool and Willowbreeze to be named as such to remind them of their WindClan heritage. |
