Introduction
"Welcome back to Camp Carter Lake, campers!" a staticky voice comes over the camp's speaker system. "This is Jack Larson with some important check in information. After you check in, make sure you prepare for the welcoming assembly tonight. And get ready for a GREAT summer!" the voice continued. The camp swarmed with activity as new and returning campers found their way around and counselors embraced new and old friends.
You took a fresh breath of air and knew this was gonna be the time of your life.
Welcome to Camp Carter Lake.
Description
So, as you can probably tell, this is a summer camp roleplay. It takes place at a large summer camp, allowing us to play a variety of ages and types of characters. I've been excited for this, so I hope everyone has fun!
Camp History
Camp Carter Lake began as a summer camp for boys in 1850. Later on, it became one of the first summer camps to take in both boys and girls. It lived on, strong, for years. Kids were taught to be respectable, adventurous adults. About 15 years ago, camp population was dwindling and the camp was forced to close. Eventually, this news came to George Mason when he traveled out to Minnesota to revisit the place where he spent every childhood summer from 5 to 18. When George, now a successful doctor, discovered it was closed, he bought the camp. With the help of his son, George cleaned up and reopened the camp. For the past 10 years, George's son Kenny has run the camp and brought Camp Carter Lake to its former glory.
Camp Description
Camp Carter Lake is broken up into three sections. Carter lake borders all theee levels of camp. Lower Camp is the smallest. It contains a field, two cabins, and a few picnic tables under a gazebo. One of the two cabins is situated on each side of the field and they get food delivered from the Mess Hall in Upper Camp. The children in Lower Camp range from age 5-8. They spend most of their day in Lower Camp, but go to Upper Camp for Music and Arts and Crafts. Lights out is at 8:00 PM. Middle Camp is the next section. There are four cabins total and a field and flag pole. The whole camp comes here for morning and evening flag ceremonies. The kids here are 9-12 years old. Middle Campers spend most of their day at Upper Camp, and participate in most of the activities. Lights out is at 10:00 PM. Upper Camp is the largest section. There are four cabins and a field. The cabins are situated on each side of the field. Girls are on one side, boys on the other. Upper Camp also has a Mess Hall, riding stables, an archery range, and various buildings for the other activities and sleeping quarters for camp staff. The kids here are 13-16 years old. Lights out is 11:00 PM.

Staff
{Kenny "Mace" Mason} ~ {45} ~ {Male} ~ {Camp Director} {Mace is tall, about 6'0 and once had the build of an athlete. He's still in decent shape, but lost some of his muscle and gained a little weight since his days as a high school football star. He has blonde hair that's beginning to thin and gray a bit, but his blue eyes are always bright and shining.} {Known as Mace by the campers and staff, his laid back attitude has made him popular among kids and teens for years. Mace prefers to have fun and sees himself as a friend rather than an authority figure. That doesn't mean he's against discipline. Mace always tries his hardest to punish each infraction of rules fairly. He also enjoys embarrassing his son.} {Mace grew up helping his father run Camp Carter Lake. When George Mason retired from camp life, Mace was eager to take it over. He vowed to never let his father down.} {His son is Quinn} {equus}
{Quinn Mason} ~ {18} ~ {Male} ~ {Barn Worker} {Quinn is tall, just like his father, but that's where he similarities end. Quinn is built like a twig, with arms and legs that are a little too long for his body. His hair is dark brown, a trait from his mom, and styled in a longer, sideswiept hairstyle. Picture 2007 Zac Efron. His eyes are green, not too light and not too dark. Quinn's skin is pale and there are freckles dotting his nose, a feature about himself that he can't stand.} {Quinn is quiet and prefers to keep to himself. He gets along with animals better than people, which is why he spends his days at the barn, taking care of horses rather than kids. It isn't that Quinn has a bad attitude or dislikes people. He actually likes people. He finds them fascinating and likes to people watch occasionally. He's just shy and doesn't have a good history of being good in social situations. He has a good heart, he just has to learn how to open up.} {Quinn grew up at camp. It was just expected that he attended and he rose through the ranks. It was no surprise that Quinn came back at 18 to be a counselor. He may not be the poster boy for ideal camp counselor, but this is his home.} {Kenny Mason is his dad} {equus}
{Jack Larson} ~ {21} ~ {Male} ~ {Lifeguard} {When you picture a stereotypical high school jock, you probably picture someone like Jack. He's tall, muscular, and well built. His light brown hair is cut short, but always styled in some way, even if it's just spiked up a little. Jack's skin is tan and unmarked and his eyes are dark brown} {With his high school jock appearance comes the high school jock attitude. Jack may be a junior in college on his way to medical school, but that doesn't stop him from acting immature and arrogant. He's good looking and he knows it. While that doesn't affect his caring and somewhat fatherly attitude towards kids, it does to his peers. He tends to avoid those beneath him and he struggles to keep a girlfriend due to his ego.} {Jack grew up in a household where sports and competition were everything. He and his older brother were both football stars in high school, as well as achieving high grades. This has always given Jack an inflated image of himself because he was taught that his achievements mattered more than his personality} {Other} {equus}
Jordan Adler} ~ {23} ~ {Female}~{Outdoor Survival Instructor} {Jordan is a tall, slim young woman, about 5'9" tall. She has dark brown hair, almost always pulled back in a ponytail. Her skin is slightly tan with a few freckles on her face. She has brown eyes.} {Jordan can seem a bit rough on the outside. She claims that the reason for this is because the activity she teaches at Camp is important - a life or death situation - but she can also be this way around her peers.} {Jordan didn't have a very social childhood. Her parents moved around a lot, and their only family time was camping.} {Other} {equus}
{Emily Madden} ~ {25} ~ {Female}~{Horseback Riding Instructor (English)} {Emily is relatively short, about 5'5". She's got a muscular build. Her blonde hair is somewhat long, falling to her shoulder blades. Her eyes are bright green and her skin is pale.} {Emily is a natural born teacher. She knows how to connect to people, whether peers or students, and isn't afraid to use that skill for her own gain. She's confident, and is generally able to get her point across easily.} {Emily grew up practically in a barn and rode saddle seat for the first few years of her career. She switched to jumping and worked with a top instructor.} {Other} {equus}
{Sasha York} ~ {24} ~ {Male} ~ {Music Instructor} {Sasha's tall, standing at around six foot when he's paying particular attention to posture (which he always does). His appearance is very important to him, so he makes sure to work out and never slouch. Soccer is his gift when it comes to athleticism, so he's more lean than muscular. He's got skin on the darker side of the spectrum, being an indigenous man from the west coast of Canada and all, and it only gets more noticeable during the summer. His eyes are upturned and a dark enough shade of brown to just be considered black. He has a solid brow, which makes him either look like he's constantly scowling or in deep thought, like a bird-of-prey. His jawline, nose, and lips are all very typical of a Native American. Strong and defined. His hair is short and jet black, just enough to toy with but not enough for like. A man-bun. But it's usually kept up in a neat, short quiff.} {Sasha's a jerk. Lightly put. Well, he's still very much human and has the capacity for empathy and love but he's still all around egotistical and insensitive. He, of course, has his reasons. People aren't just born obnoxious. But he'd never talk about anything so deep. So everyone kind of just has to deal with him. He's very prideful and his masculinity is nothing short of fragile. He thinks weakness should be considered a sin and has no time for the soft-hearted. Except for his brother. But that's complicated.} {Sasha grew up with both parents on the west coast of Canada. He, predictably, had a rough childhood and left home at fourteen. He moved to the city with the wrong crowd and got himself into different bits of trouble pretty consistently for six years before he made the impulsive decision to return home and meet his ten-year-old brother properly. After discovering that Shafer was being treated much the same way his older brother had been, he made his visits much more frequent. Eventually, after four years of awkward and exhausting mediation, he technically kidnapped the boy and brought him to America. He figured he wouldn't be able to parent the boy properly on his own so he invested into this summer camp he heard good things about and got a job there for good measure. Seemed like a good way to keep track of the boy.} {Younger brother is Shafer.} {Ace}
Upper Campers
{Grace Miller} ~ {16} ~ {Female} {Grace is a tall girl with an athletic build. She has shoulder length brown hair, pale skin, and bright blue eyes. She always wears t-shirts and shorts with tennis shoes. Like all the time. She can count the number of times she wore a dress or skirt on one hand. Grace's face is untouched by acne or freckles, but she has a small scar on her right cheekbone.} {Grace is outgoing and friendly to all. She's trusting, honest, and loyal to her friends. At times, she's too trusting and has been used multiple times.} {Grace grew up in a large family, with four brothers and one sister. Her youngest brother, Colton, is the only sibling that attends camp.} {Brother is Colton Miller} {equus}
{Shafer Haywood York} ~ {14} ~ {Male} {Shafer's very small. He's five foot three and almost feminine in shape. He's got a dark complexion and stereotypical straight black hair that reaches his waist. His almond-shaped dark brown eyes are constantly watery and make it look as if he could burst into tears at any given moment. Which he totally could. He's pretty easily mistaken for a girl, due to the delicate facial features and small build.His facial features are defined but the plush lips, small nose, and squishy cheeks cancel out any possibility of a chiseled face.} {Shafer is a brat. He's incredibly childish, indecisive, pouty, manipulative, and gets just about anything he wants. It's unknown whether this is because he's always gotten what he wanted or because he's never gotten what he wanted. But the fact that he's got some serious mommy issues is blatant. He's had it rough and he knows that, often using his sob story to manipulate and toy with others. Anyone, aside from his brother (again, complicated), is a mere plaything, judged only on their latest actions rather than them as a whole person.} {Shafer had a pretty normal childhood up until the age of four, when his brother left. That's when everything sort of fell apart for him. He doesn't have many memories before the age of ten. After that, it was mostly throwing himself into schoolwork and spending his free time waiting for Sasha to come visit. He likes to think his life started the day Sasha came rampaging into the house and ordered him to pack up his things, all while locked in a screaming match with their mother.} {Older brother is Sasha.} {Ace}
{Astor Namcot} ~ {15} ~ {Male} {Astor is five foot eleven and very, very ethereal-looking. This isn't natural, of course. He puts a lot of time and effort into looking like a literal angel. He's very evenly pale and has long hair that's been bleached to the point of whiteness. He's in the process of growing it out but right now, it only barely reaches his jaw and is the slightest bit shaggy. His eyes are a pure blue, the colour as piercing and unsettling as it is fake. They're contacts, and like his hair colour, no one knows what his natural tone was.} {Astor is dramatic. He's never in the middle of any sort of emotional spectrum, it's always one end or the other. He's very quick to anger, especially when it comes to his divinity. Which he makes a point of bringing up at least once in every interaction of his. As far as he is concerned, he is pure, perfect, powerful, and better than you. He's an angel. Literally. And he is not shy about it. Going on unprompted rants about how difficult it is to go about life without bumping into things with his astral wings is not uncommon. He has a tumblr and a halloween store halo that makes appearances in literally all of his selfies.} {Astor is the son of a powerful weapons manufacturer, which means he can be rich and embarrassing at the same time. His father doesn't pay attention to him and his mother is waiting for this particular phase of his to pass before she bothers. It's something of an ordeal to talk to him at this point. They sent him to camp so they wouldn't have to deal with him this summer. It's his first time.} {Just to clarify. He believes he's a literal angel. One of God's warriors. Sent from Heaven.} {Ace}
Middle Campers
{Colton Miller} ~ {12} ~ {Male} {Colton is about 5'6, tall for his age, and skinny. He eats like a horse, but doesn't seem to gain much weight. His skin is pale and his soft blonde hair is always styled. His eyes are blue and his cheeks are round and pink, giving him the appearance of being an angel.} {Despite his appearance, Colton is more of a troublemaker than an angel. He loves to play pranks and just generally cause trouble. He's a very Class clown type and makes friends easily.} {Colton grew up in a large family.} {Sister is Grace Miller. He also wants to be a filmmaker and likes to record his life.} {equus}

Rules
My rules are pretty basic and there's not a lot of them, so if you could follow them, that'd be great.
1) Respect -- I need you to respect me and others. It's really not cool to bully people or treat them like they're beneath you. Just respect others and we'll be cool. I shouldn't really have to explain this one.
2) Literacy -- This is a literate and semi-advanced roleplay. First of all, that means I'm going to need you to type in complete sentences with correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. I'm not saying the occasional error is not allowed. We all make mistakes, but at least attempt to have correct grammar. Second of all, I'm requiring a minimum of 3-4 paragraphs, about six sentences each. That's not hard to do. It's just that it's hard to reply when someone gives you two or three sentences.
3) Activity -- I'm really relaxed on this one. I can't be here 24/7. I can't be here everyday. I don't expect you to either. Just get on 2-3 times a week and that should be fine. If there's circumstances where you need to be fine longer, just let me know. I don't need a reason, I just need to know. If something comes up and you don't have time to warn me, don't worry about that either. Just let me know when you come back.
4) Be Fair -- By this, I mean avoid the typical long words you see in every set of rules. No Mary Sues, no power playing, no godmoddinng, no spotlighting. Don't create any unnecessary drama. The only exception to this is if it's part of a plot, which will almost certainly happen.
5) Forum Rules -- Again, pretty obvious. Follow all forum rules. Keep stuff at a PG/PG-13 level or below. I don't want this deleted and I don't want anyone reported.
6) Characters -- I'd like to keep genders even. I know the majority of people I've talked to prefer to be girls, but make guys too. If, for some reason, you absolutely refuse to play a certain gender, we can talk about it. I'd ask prefer if you spread your characters out, meaning don't put all of them in a certain level of camp or make your characters all counselors.

They're contacts, and like his hair colour, no one knows what his natural tone was.} {Astor is dramatic. He's never in the middle of any sort of emotional spectrum, it's always one end or the other. He's very quick to anger, especially when it comes to his divinity. Which he makes a point of bringing up at least once in every interaction of his. As far as he is concerned, he is pure, perfect, powerful, and better than you. He's an angel. Literally. And he is not shy about it. Going on unprompted rants about how difficult it is to go about life without bumping into things with his astral wings is not uncommon. He has a tumblr and a halloween store halo that makes appearances in literally all of his selfies.} {Astor is the son of a powerful weapons manufacturer, which means he can be rich and embarrassing at the same time. His father doesn't pay attention to him and his mother is waiting for this particular phase of his to pass before she bothers. It's something of an ordeal to talk to him at this point. They sent him to camp so they wouldn't have to deal with him this summer. It's his first time.} {Just to clarify. He believes he's a literal angel. One of God's warriors. Sent from Heaven.} {Ace}
The first two look good. I just wanted to clarify on Astor - he's human right? Just believes he's an angel? If that's the case, then he looks good too
