The black and white tom couldn't help but chuckle as his brother chirped. He was more than glad to see that Chillberry had perked up like he had. It boosted Chickenflight's mood up by a lot, it really did. Just seeing a smile on his brother's face...to see Chillberry happy and relieved...it made the whole day seem brighter than it truly was to Chickenflight.
Crushes could certainly turn a cat into a blubbering mess. Chickenflight shook his head in amusement before looking at his brother. "You'll remember how talking works, I'm sure. Even if you don't any cat can see how lucky they are to have you interested in them. Lionwhisker's not a mouse-brain. He knows how lucky he is." Chickenflight could already see it - Chillberry and Lionwhisker forming a trusting and healthy relationship. They would be a cute couple, and Chickenflight was glad to see his brother find a tom such as Lionwhisker. The bicolored tom was essentially ecstatic by now. Knowing his brother supported him and his potential relationship brought him endless joy that he hadn't really expected to get out of this conversation. For now, it helped him forget everything that he was ever stressed about that day, for which he was thankful. For these next few moments, he'd be able to focus on this conversation and his brother rather than stress about, well, everything he'd just vented about minutes ago. When Chickenflight spoke up once again, Chillberry's ears perked up a bit. "Really? Do you really think he thinks that?" he questioned, tipping his head slightly to the side. It wasn't atypical of him to believe he wasn't really anything special. Rather, he almost felt he had something to prove simply due to his size, something he had no control over. He never spoke about it much, though he thought of it more often than he'd like to admit. So, to listen to his brother go on about how Lionwhisker was lucky to have him, well, it was the slightest bit hard to believe. Then again, the other would never lie to him.

Thank you all ^^ Fern: awwww <33 "Uhh," Mottlepaw stalled, shifting his paws. "I mean, I did s-say yes, but I didn't realize the extent of what you're asking." He sounded a little defeated, with his head hung. "Oakkit, you know just how much trouble you could get into by leaving camp. And not just with Mothstar, but real trouble--like getting caught in a monster yourself! Imagine Squirrelpelt--she's a full-trained warrior, and even she couldn't stop such a beast." He trailed off, eyes flashing as he recalled the types of danger lurking in the forest.
"Oh." The mottled apprentice blinked, intrigued, as Oakkit went on. A cat who escaped multiple times from a monster, of all the predators in the forest? He racked his brain for some kind of explanation, but could not offer one. He couldn't imagine how what Oakkit said was true, but... if it was, then evidently Squirrelpelt wasn't really gone for good.
But Mothstar and Cherviltail seemed to be devastated, with an air of finality around them. Didn't they know best?
Then again, this was Oakkit's mother. He deserved to have absolute proof, or the opportunity to reunite with her.
In the end, Mottlepaw ended up gazing down at his paws in deep thought, his fangs protruding from his lips as he frowned indecisively.

Thrushface blinked warmly at the apprentice's grateful glance, and watched him go. For a little while she simply laid down in the clearing, watching the sky with a thoughtful look. Her tail-tip twitched back and forth as she felt the greenleaf air grow blissfully cooler with the onset of nighttime.
A yawn escaped her jaws, and the large warrior was just about to retreat to the warriors' den for the night, when a yowling broke through the camp entrance. Leaping up in shock, Thrushface turned to see... Grasspaw?! She felt as though she'd spoken to the young tom only heartbeats before, though apparently quite a bit of time--and quite a bit of an event, it seemed--had passed. Grasspaw seemed as though he had run quite a distance in the past few minutes.
"A cat?" she repeated, narrowing her eyes, but heading immediately to the camp entrance. She noticed Grasspaw hadn't mentioned said cat by name... "Not someone from our Clan, then?" Briefly, she wondered if whoever it was must be dangerous, or have some kind of association with other cats--but she began to follow the apprentice nonetheless. It might be helpful to have an extra paw for backup just in case, though...
"Hey, Deadeye!" she called over her shoulder, wondering if her friend would be around to take up the task with her.

He yowled to ThrushFace

New relationships in the Clan were always a wonderful thing. It made the Clan stronger and closer as it brought together new family ties and bonds. There was also the fact that many new relationships brought new kits into the Clan as well, but not every couple had kits. Producing offspring was a wonderful thing and very helpful to the Clan, but it was never required. Kits are a blessing to the Clan, but a mated pair is never expected to have a litter or two in their lifetime. Chickenflight had to admit that he gave a quick thought to Chillberry and Lionwhisker becoming parents one day; even if they were both toms they could still raise a family should they put their mind to it, but right now wasn't the time to think about all of that.
A purr rumbled forward from Chickenflight. He nodded with no hint of a lie or deception. He truly believed in what he had said. "I really think so," he answered. Even if Chillberry thought little of himself Chickenflight thought the world of his brother. Just because Chillberry was small didn't mean anything to the black and white tomcat. Chickenflight was sure that his brother could easily make a difference to the world if he set his mind to it, even if that difference was something small like bringing together his and Lionwhisker's family.

Unfortunately for Mottlepaw, Oakkit was persistent.
His tail flicked back and forth as he eyed his mottle-pelted friend. Oakkit was sure his mother was still alive. If she was dead wouldn't he feel it deep down in his bones? A mountain of grief was still looming over him at the fact that his mother hadn't returned with the patrol, but there was a growing valley of hope stretching out before him. Squirrelpelt was still out there, Oakkit was sure of it. It wasn't even the enthusiasm of a kit that made him so sure that she was alive. It was the bond that only a mother and her child had that told Oakkit that his mother was still out there. "I know she's out there," the tabby mewed with confidence. "She escaped that monster, I'm sure of it."
Squirrelpelt would never lie to her son, Oakkit knew that. The gray tabby had told him stories of her friends from outside the Clan, how some would be put into the jaws of a monster and then get out some time later unscathed - shaken, but free from injury. It was intriguing to realize that most of the Clan didn't understand this. Monsters were scary and shouldn't be taken lightly, but from what Squirrelpelt had told Oakkit they weren't all that bad.
Having seen and heard her in a monster, Mothstar and Cherviltail had come back to camp defeated. But they didn't know what Oakkit knew about monsters. He knew the leader and deputy weren't always right just from that so it was time for him to take his chance and bring back his mom.
Looking back up at Mottlepaw, he leaned forward and nudged the other tomcat. "Hey," he mewed softly. "We got this, alright? I just know what we'll bring Squirrelpelt back."

The camp had been solemn from the time Mothstar and Cherviltail had arrived back to camp with the others. They had brought nothing of Squirrelpelt, only news that she had been trapped inside the jaws of a monster. Deadeye could only imagine that they would sit vigil for the gray tabby soon. Tonight or the night after they would, the black and white tom was sure of that. Even if the queen was distrusted by many of her Clanmates they would still hold a vigil for her. Deadeye had always admired the she-cat, even back when he had still been Swallowfur. He had always liked her independent flame, her ability to stick to her plans and see them through. But enough of that. He would have time to appreciate her skills and personality during the official vigil.
Luckily he was able to get those thoughts of his mind just in time to hear a yowling from near the camp entrance. His ears perked up and he instantly shot to his paws. The voice was coming from a young male, one of the Clan's apprentices. After a moment of registering the voice to a name, Deadeye came to the conclusion that the yowling was coming from Grasspaw. Deadeye felt his fur bristle. What had happened now?
The tom was rushing toward Thrushface before she had even called for him. "What's happened?" He asked, his sightless eyes flicking from where Thrushface stood to where he assumed Grasspaw was. Tension was rising in his muscles. What had happened now?

The white and tabby tom purred deep in his chest when his brother answered. It meant a lot to him that he thought that, probably more than others thought to be normal. He didn't care, though - he would forever value Chickenflight's opinion, most likely more than just about anybody else's. Nuzzling his cheek, Chillberry didn't respond for a few moments, simply savoring the moment for what it was without his words.
It was in these moments that the tom realized he didn't have much more to say on the topics he'd brought up. Everything was resolved, he felt much better about both situations, and was now feeling just the slightest bit more confident about trying to talk to Lionwhisker. "Thank you, Chickenflight. You're the best," he purred. It was all he could even think of at this point, and felt it was all he had to say.

A purr continued to ripple through Chickenflight. His purr only grew louder as Chillberry nuzzled his cheek.
After a moment the silence was broken by his brother's comment. "Me? The best?" He cocked his head in question as he eyed his brother as if he had just grown two extra heads. "You can't be serious." While there was a tease to the words, the warrior was being quite honest. He didn't think he was the best at anything, especially life advice. He was good at it, but not the best. Though it did make him feel special to know that Chillberry thought of him as the best.

Chillberry grinned at his sibling when he received the questioning look. As he listened to him, he couldn't help the laugh that bubbled out of him. Of course he was the best! Chickenflight was simply the best and there was nothing he could do to change that. There was no way he'd ever think otherwise of the black and white tom. "Of course I'm serious - you're the best. The best of the best. Just the absolute best." Yes, he was absolutely sure of this. The smaller tom was sure was sure that his opinion was a straight up fact. It was very important that his sibling knew that he was the best, at least to him he was.

Mottlepaw's gaze snapped up after a while, and he heaved a breath of defeat. Oakkit was so certain, so optimistic. Who was Mottlepaw to deny the kit a chance to see his mother again?
"Okay, you win," the apprentice meowed after a stretching moment of silence. Offering a small, hopeful grin to his friend, Mottlepaw got to his paws. "I will help you, but you have to listen to me! I can't have your hide hung, and be blamed because I couldn't win an argument against a kit. I'm the older one, so it was really my job to say no."
He tilted his head a moment, thinking. "But my answer, I guess, is yes." Please, StarClan... let this be worth it.

Thrushface's heart leaped in her chest when she realized Deadeye had come into eyesight a moment before she had called to him. "Not sure!" she responded, her ears flicking to Grasspaw. "A strange cat stuck in a tree on our territory, it seems."
The blue-gray warrior nodded to Grasspaw, not planning on wasting any more time. If some cat was in danger, it was important to find them as soon as time allowed. "Let's go," she murmured to Deadeye.
As the apprentice bounded away through the forest, Thrushface followed close in pursuit. Her large paws pounded the forest floor, likely scaring away all the prey in close proximity. No matter--that wasn't the focus here.
"Alright," Thrushface panted in reply when Grasspaw slowed to check on her, still following. She wondered for a moment why the apprentice had strayed so far in the first place--then pushed the thought down. Focus on getting there first.

The rogue isn't my character, so I don't know where we're going to go with this. But you're free to have your character leave this scene if you wish, especially as you only have one to roleplay with (:

when GrassPaw reached the tree fearing the worst he realized that the mysterious she cat was still up there "she's up there" he said as ThrushFace and DeadEye caught up to him "I have no idea how to get her down i don't even know if we can" He muttered and looked up the tree to the branch where the she cat was with concern in his eyes "do you two have any ideas on how to get her down?"
