I'm not even sure if this belongs here, but it does discuss other languages. So, I really want to live in Switzerland one day and I understand that there's a difference between the nation's Swiss languages of German, French, and Italian and their standard counterparts. What exactly is the difference? Examples would be great.

I'm not very knowledgeable about Italian or French- someone else can explain for me- but I know the basics, such as German being a Germanic language along with English and Dutch, and I guess you could consider them distant cousins. Italian and French are Romance languages along with Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Catalan.

Ohhhh I see what you're asking, I know a bit of the difference between Swiss German and Standard German. From what I was taught at Uni, they use the same writing system but have a pretty different pronunciation and accent. I found a video with some good examples comparing the two.
I'm pretty sure the first man speaks Standard German, and the rest speak Swiss German. Mostly because I can understand the first man, the second man I'm not sure, but the rest I can't understand at all- it's all gibberish to me.

From what I've looked up, the Swiss national languages might as well be an entirely different language to their standered counterparts since so many words are different.

The extreme pronounciation is the big difference (to me). The third man said at some point "Mehrwertsteuer" (value-added-tax?) but pronounced it as "Mierwirtstüer".
