He just wondered if he could. It was very hard to tell about his life. He often found himself explaining things out of order and having other cats wondering what went where. |

Larkdapple listened to Rattlesnake. She was relieved that Rattlesnake didn't seem like a murderous cat to her, but she was slightly worried about his group of rogues. "I don't think you would willingly destroy the Clans, but how can I know your rogues won't do something themselves?" There were surely a few rogues who weren't as goodhearted as Rattlesnake.

Rattlesnake nodded to Silverkit before turning to Larkdapple. "All my cats I would trust with my life. They come from other Homes, like this one. Or I have spent many years with them. A few years back I would have doubted some of them, but I will vow to you that they will not kill any of the lake clan cats."

Larkdapple nodded. Rattlesnake seemed genuine to her. "I guess my home will be okay." She figured the medicine cats would receive a sign if one of the rogues was going to stir up trouble. Besides, Rattlesnake knew the rogues best, and the clans could defend themselves if needed. "I just hope there'll be enough prey and herbs for them all."

Rattlesnake chuckled. "One bonus for our power is that we don't get sick often, if ever, in our entire life. We have to be killed by something that will heavily wound us."
He tried to think of an example. "A tree falling directly on us would probably do it. If it was a big tree. And, we also don't have to eat often. Comes from the powers you see, it slows down ageing, need for food, and nearly stops the need for medical attention all together."
"Down side is that you can't have kits. Partly the reason I came to the Home," he added.

Silverkit resisted the urge to look to her paws in embarrassment. That didn't mean he didn't like her, right? He must've just fallen in love with her after deciding to see her. He came to her Home without high expectations only to be surprised by a kit like her, right? He couldn't possibly regard her as just a piece in his plans, not after all they'd been through. ...Right?

Larkdapple was secretly relieved to know they couldn't have kits. The whole slow-ageing part of the powers sounded like a recipe for overpopulation problems to her. Outside that though, she was now intrigued to hear more about the rogues. They had powers, like Snowkit. "That sounds amazing, having those types of powers."

The cats who accepted his offer of power didn't want kits. But there were was that one cat... Kite. He closed his eyes, pained. She'd unknowing been pregnant when she'd accepted the powers. And she'd had her kit as a Gifted. And the kit was more powerful then anyone thought she would be. She had been born Gifted. But it had been more of a curse then a gift. Kite and the kit, Will, had left. Rattlesnake didn't know what had happened to them. ...It was all his fault. He turned his head away from Larkdapple, not wanting to meet the she-cats eyes. |

Silverkit tipped her head in a question, wondering what Rattlesnake was thinking about. Once again she felt jealous of Mistkit. What good could super speed be with a cat like Rattlesnake?

Larkdapple got the sense that Rattlesnake didn't want to say anything else about that, so she looked around for Snowkit, realizing she'd once again completely forgotten about her own kit during the conversation.

(Thank you. And yes, Will's parts are confusing because they go with a comic called Poisoning the Sea (found in the Comic and Manga section). I still need to put it over on the main page. Snowkit looked up at Larkdapple. "Should we leave them be?" she asked, just loud enough for her to hear. The situation was becoming awkward. Snowkit didn't like the feeling.
