After remembering a phrase from Avatar: the Last Airbender:
"Sometimes the shadows of the past can be felt by the present" - Aang.
This made me think of how the shadows in the AVoS prophecy could represent the past. But what part of the past (shadows) would "clear the skies" If we're correct in speculating that this phrase means that SkyClan is coming to live at the lake, then maybe it's the Blazing Star? The prophecy surrounding it and the flower itself played an important role in the past. So basically I think the shadows are connected to the Blazing Star and that this will serve as an item to remind the Clans of it's significance back then and it's significance now.
I'd also like to mention that it was stated that Blazing Star grows in the mountains and considering the pattern of visiting the Tribe once per series since TNP, this pattern could appear again.

Okay, this might seem very far-fetched but maybe The Sun Trail can play a role in this. Both in a metaphorical sense and physical sense. Shadows are caused by being between a source of light, like the sun (trail) and a surface. And now that I just keep thinking about this way too much, there were Blazing Stars in ShadowClan's (shadows) old territory. So they could follow The Sun Trail back to the Forest. But the place is destroyed and inevitably the flowers themselves but it's still interesting to think about. Unless maybe Princess/Hattie can conveniently provide some Blazing Star from her Twoleg's garden. Thoughts?

This is actually an amazing theory and not to far fetched to me I mean it could very well be whats happening!

Now that I think about it, they could've intentionally written DotC before AVoS for this very reason. Now that we know the fourth book may be called The Darkest Night, I wonder how this could interrelate.

We might see Alderpaw or his warrior medicine cat name have visions of the past cats talking about the blazing star I think the kits might very well play a big roll. Since we already know what happens to shadowclan and what happend to Skycaln multiple times. It is just forshadowing that the clans are meant to be five not four since it is starting to show that the clans are unraveling plus with the new code to help a clan in need. It also comes to play of maybe skyclan rejoining the lake and the clans. To right what has been done wrong and to fix what has been broken so to speak.

I, honestly, think that it is Needlepaw.

I believe Alderpaw's medicine cat name has been already been revealed. That'd be interesting to have it mentioned in the fourth book since the flower was mentioned in the fourth book of DotC. And I agree with rest.

I, honestly, think that it is Needlepaw. I never even thought of her being the shadows but since she was the one who suspected the kits to be it and to have it be Needlepaw herself would be cool. She's also a rival of Sparkpaw, who seems to be in the prophecy in HJ blurb so that'd be nice to see how they contrast in their roles in helping SkyClan.
