Marina nodded in agreement at his explanation of the baked goods.
"Practice makes perfect. If there's literally nothing else I've learned in my past decade of musical training, that would be it." She paused for a moment, and then addressed the second half of Oliver's statement, her face more solemn.
"It was definitely hard at first. I mean, I was 10, my brother Monty was only 5 so in a way I'm at least lucky to have that much recollection of her, y'know? Five year olds barely remember details, so he kind of just recalls her tucking him into bed, a few memories of her during the holidays, but that's pretty much it. I think Dad took it the hardest of any of us, she was really his inspiration. She got really sick, it came on pretty quickly, and the doctors were never really able to tell us what was going on." Stop being a negative Nelly to this guy, you've only just met! her inner voice prodded. She quickly excused herself,
"Sorry, I got pretty dark there, didn't mean to disturb the mood." She cleared her throat. "I definitely owe you for that lunch though, it was fantastic. I'm not much of a cook, but if you ever need help with anything music-wise, whether that's homework, or a free lesson, or getting your hands on some free tickets to a concert, let me know." She smiled kindly and winked. "Being in the up-and-coming local band has its perks sometimes, haha."

"Not everyone can step the boundaries of time like you." Danny nodded and smiled before plopping down. "This is pretty cool." He said and chuckled. "At least that raven can't follow us in here." He added before having another small coughing fit.

"Raven?" Rune tilted his head curiously. Well, there might be ravens around but why one wouldn't enter a forest... "What's this about a raven?" he asked again. Must mean something to Danny, he guessed.

Oliver listened attentively as she talked, then said, "It's fine, you were talking about the death of your mother, you can't make that sound happy. And I asked anyways." He shifted in his chair, trying to think of some way to redirect the conversation since she didn't seem to want to keep talking about this. "Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it sometime. Just remember to bring something to eat next time," he joked, starting to pack up his own empty containers.
"What band did you say you were in?" he asked, finally finding a way to redirect the conversation. "I'll definitely try to make your next show, if I don't have anything important going on."

Marina let out a small inaudible sigh, grateful that Oliver had redirected the conversation. Even though it happened ten years ago, the death of her mother still rattled her to the core, and the usually cool-as-acucumber musician wasn't used to having to open up to others. She was always of the mind that emotions were overrated, anyway.
"Haha, no promises, but I'll try and be responsible and pack something for tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing. As for our band, we're called Great Barrier Reef. We do classic rock covers, mostly, but these days we always try to open and close our shows with new original stuff we're working on." She smiled one of her rare, genuine smiles, happy that Oliver had shown interest. "We're playing at the local park this Saturday at 8! I'll bring you the tickets later this week. Just let me know how many you want."

Oliver noticed that she seemed to relax with his redirection, and grinned slightly. He really hadn't meant to end up with such a deep conversation, and he hoped that he hadn't ruined a future friendship by his initial blunder. "That's a really cool name. I should be free this Saturday. I'll probably just need one ticket though, I'm not sure Maria would want to go, and I'm sure most of the other people I know who'd be interested already have tickets." Oliver shrugged slightly, still grinning. He was pretty excited to see what kind music they'd play. He was tempted to ask, but that'd ruin part of the fun of the concert, the surprise of possibly hearing something he loved, or hearing something totally new.

"Only you can believe all is lost but I know with time, nothing is lost." (OOC)
"Not everyone can step the boundaries of time like you." Danny looked down shyly, "Well, my mom enchanted a raven a 'long' time ago that she uses to now to keep an eye on me. But it can't enter places of magic without her near by." He mumbled hoping that he didn't just give away who his mother is.

(Ayyy I'm back, at least for a little bit!)
Marina smiled kindly, she was excited that she managed to both make a new friend and get a new audience member in the span of the same conversation. This was a good day. "Perfect, one it is then. I'll meet up with you this time tomorrow, and get the ticket to you. We can meet in here, or wherever you usually have lunch. I promise you we won't disappoint." She winked, laughing warmheartedly. She glanced up at the clock.
"I really should get going to class, not to sound like a keener," she explained, grimacing, "-I've not got a...great track record of making fourth period at this point, and getting suspended AND grounded simultaneously basically means the teachers won't rent out the gym to us for the gig, nor will I be able to make it for the performance, heh." She passed her fingers awkwardly through her thick, faux-hawk styled hair. "But it was really cool getting to chat with you, Oliver. I'll see ya around?" She ended the last phrase on a hopeful note, grabbing hold of her trusty guitar again. .

"Here is good, I never really know where I'll be eating lunch before hand anyways. Always seemed to get side tracked talking to some one," Oliver said, matching her laugh with one of his own. Comfortable conversations with new friends were always one of his favorite things to achieve.
"Of course, get going. I wouldn't want to be the reason you got in trouble. I should probably head out anyways, I don't try to make a habit of missing class." Oliver finished packing up his empty containers, saving the chips in case hunger struck again. He stood up from his chair, lunch in the same hand it had been before, though considerably lighter. "See ya," he said, waving slightly with his free hand, and offering her another smile.
(Sorry this took so long, I got distracted by homemade sushi.)

(Hey it's all good, I was shopping for apartment furniture, we cool)
Marina gave him her classic "pirate's salute", Reginald had taught it to her as a friendly kid joke and it had always stuck. Smiling as she said her goodbyes, the tall girl gathered up her things, wheeling Miss Belladonna's chair back to where she found it.
Perfect timing for once, she thought, as the minute hand staggered towards 12:50 pm. Quickly adjusting her red bandana in the mirror, she smeared on another layer of cherry-shaded lipstick before heading out the door. She'd be darned if she was late for one more math class, no matter how much she dreaded the subject.
"You never know what you might need it for in the future," her father had always coached her. Marina was pretty darned sure any aspiring rock star wasn't going to need to understand how parabolas worked, but she figured she and the Captain had had their fair share of spats already, now they were both tired, reluctantly compliant, and trying not to push their luck with each other.
She headed down the hall, guitar case slung carelessly over her shoulder and curls bouncing as she marched purposefully towards fourth period.

"Oh?" Rune could think of a few people his mother might be, but seeing that Danny didn't name her himself he decided to keep quiet about it "That's over protective parenting if i've ever seen it. I don't even see my father these days, much less my mother." considering who his father was it wasn't a surprise.

"Not everyone can step the boundaries of time like you." "I think my mom is just worried that she'll lose me. I mean like my dad died before my mom apparently knew she was pregnant." Danny replied thoughtfully though he didn't want to ad the other ideas he thought of, but he also didn't seem bothered to talk about his father being dead.

Alright let's skip to afterschool then, say right as school gets out? I'll write some quick starters ))
Beau tapped his pencil on his desk impatiently, watching the second hand of the clock tick. He could've sworn that t had actually moved backwards a couple of times. The bell rang and he grabbed his bag, making it out of the classroom first. He jogged down the hall and burst out the front doors, relieved to be finally free. Beau slung his bag over his shoulder and kneeled down to unlock his bike from the bike racks before remembering football practice and groaning.
Starling was startled out of a daydream by the bell ringing, signaling the end of the day. She blinked, surprised by how quickly the first day of school had gone. She slowly gathered her papers and stuffed them in her bag before saying bye to the professor and being the last one out of the classroom. She walked down the near empty hallway- not many had reasons to stay after on the first day of school.
Trixie was already gone when the bell rang- well, she had been "gone" for awhile, as in nobody could see her, but the classroom door quietly opened and shut seemingly by itself a few minutes before the bell rang. It's not like the teacher was going to say anything important in the last few minutes anyway.

Lee wasn't even sure if he had actually declared a spot for them to meet. De-De wouldn't have forgotten, would she? It was a possibility, he supposes. If she did, it was alright. She could have been swamped with first day homework and socializing. He would not hold it against her.
In the meantime, it wouldn't bother him to doodle for a bit- not that he hadn't doodled in the margins of all of his school work for the day. He was wincing thinking about it. He'd gotten plenty of notes, in hindsight, but he could have had more had he actually...been paying attention. Lee pulls out his sketchbook, props it up on his knee and settles down to wait.
~~~~~
Excited to start football practice? An understatement. Mathieu was thrilled! Electrified! Exhilarated! He'd like to think that he made it in by more than the bare skin of his teeth, but he wasn't even sure he understood that sentence. Mathieu had quickly tossed off his school clothes and exchanged them for his work out gear, and he was excitedly bouncing by the door waiting for the other players to get into gear already!
He didn't have to wait. He could go to the field and start stretching, right? He was sure he was right. So he quickly snags the door handle and pulls it open to do just that.
~~~~~
Fluerette had ended up paying for both her lunch AND Trixie's lunch. She'd have to give that girl a peace of her mind whenever they ran into each other again! The drama club didn't start until next week so she was free...until she had to pick Mathieu up, because Talbot couldn't be bothered to grab there their younger brother. So here she was, waiting outside on the bleachers while her little brother waved excitedly from the field. At least he looked like he was having fun... being able to touch people must be great.
She couldn't help the bitter thought, and she couldn't help the guilt that followed afterwards. Not like Mathieu could help it. She leans back and flips through her phone. Maybe someone would walk her way and she could make a new friend to chat with while practice dragged on.
~~~~~~
Talbot was walking through the halls with a binder in his hands. He had spent most of the summer working on the schedule for the school. He just had to get together with the rest of the student body, which was like wrangling cats this year. He huffs and eyes the emptying halls. First day and everything was already falling apart!
(Cool cool, I can work with this)
~ ~ ~ Hattie absentmindedly listened to the drab tone of her English teacher as class drew to a close. Mostly she had spent the class staring out the window, wondering what she would do tonight. She figured her dad might want help at the food mart, but after that she really just wanted to go out and have some fun. All of her extra work hours and assignments had been putting a damper on her social life as of late. As the bell rang, she clutched her small pile of books to her chest, swung her floral-print messenger bag over one shoulder, and hustled out towards the lockers, trying to avoid being knocked into by any of the taller, sturdier students.
~ ~ ~ Marina sat in the back row of Chemistry, obnoxiously blowing a piece of bubble gum. The teacher kept throwing dirty glares her way but since she had only started near the end of class, there wasn't much he could do about it. The girl had already racked up 5 detentions this month, he didn't think another would do anything groundbreaking. At the sound of the bell, she skirted out of her seat and then the classroom, nearly knocking over test tubes on her way. The teacher, Mr. Phospho, yelled in her direction:
"Young lady, it looks like you'll be on eraser clapping duty again this week."
Marina pretended not to hear and attempted to continue on her way. Another student, a slender and well-done-up member of the cheerleading squad, gripped her shoulder tightly ."I think he wants you," she murmured to Marina.
"Nah," Marina sneered loudly, so that Mr. Phospho knew exactly who was being addressed, "He wants you, I may be young, but I'm no lady." She wrenched her shoulder free, spitting on the ground as she left defiantly, but not before flashing the tired-looking instructor a cheeky grin. She headed quickly towards the lockers, being careful not to look behind her or draw any unnecessary attention from the other students.
Aiglentina walked calmly down the hallway and towards her brother's locker. She held her books close, as the textbooks she needed for her advanced classes were too big to fit in her smaller bag. The senior paused before Egon's locker, not seeing her brother in sight. With a sigh, she leaned on the wall, watching the passing students as the left the school, patiently waiting so that her and Egon's could walk to their family's flower shop to pick up their youngest sister before heading home.
Egon might have forgotten about the promise he made to his mother that day. He and Aiglentina were supposed to pick up their youngest sister at the flower shop before they went home, but Egon was focused on asking questions. He accidentally missed most of the lesson and had incomplete notes because of it. At this point, his teacher was used to him asking, and was already prepared to give Egon the well-known "pay more attention" speech.
Ayza took her time getting out of her last class. She slowly walked down the hall and peered into the history class her mother teached. Seeing her mother already at her desk finishing her work, Ayza sucked in a breath and darted away, a little scared to bother her mother. Yzma was known to get too into her work, and Ayza didn't like being on the receiving end of her mother's insults. She seemed more quiet as she walked away from her mother's classroom, walking down the hallway and moving around the other students that were leaving school to head home.
