She felt the water at her paws and was tempted to jump in. She gained control of herself and looked up. Ashpaw paused and choose to observe the room, first before moving forward.

There is a tunnel near the edge of the cave, but it is almost filled with water. Jagged rocks line the shore, creating a slippery bridge, although it is possible to swim. The water is salty-smelling, like that of the sun-drown place (or ocean, if Ashpaw was familiar with the term). |

Ashpaw noticed the slippery rocks and knew that this path was out of question. She carefully walked forward a few more steps into the water, testing to make sure it wasn't a trap of some sort.

The water is calm... Ashpaw's Sight is tested...She sees nothing but the rocks on the bottom, smooth from the waves. |

Ashpaw got deep into the water and began to swim towards the tunnel. The tunnel's mouth is nearly underwater. There is also a shore on the far side of the cave, even though it is a bit of a far swim. Should she go in the tunnel or head toward the far shore? |

ღℳ𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓼𝓽𝓻𝒆𝓪𝓶ღThe far shore is a longer swim, and with fewer places to rest one's paws, but is more straightforward. The bottom cannot be seen halfway across. The tunnel's mouth is mostly filled with water, but Ashpaw can keep her head above it. That's all she can see of the tunnel at the moment.

ღℳ𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓼𝓽𝓻𝒆𝓪𝓶ღThe only thing she can hear is the gentle lapping of the waves. After a bit of walking/paddling, her head suddenly bumps the ceiling. Ashpaw's Ponder is tested...The tunnel might be getting smaller. That's probably it, nothing to worry about.

ღℳ𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓼𝓽𝓻𝒆𝓪𝓶ღThe tunnel's ceiling gets shorter... wait, no it's not. Ashpaw's having trouble keeping her paws on the tunnel's bottom. The water level seems to be rising as she goes, with more water trickling in behind her.

She reaches the far shore and turns to face the shadow. Its head rears out of the water, revealing its serpent-like shadow form. "We are Nix. You may have passed our domain, but we will not let you break this!" It reaches out its tail and grabs a shadow statue by Ashpaw's feet, tossing it into the water.

The shadowy tail slips out of her grip, but the statue falls towards the bottom. It's a risk to go after it, but Ashpaw remembers the others mentioning breaking statues to escape... |

Ashpaw took a deep breath and dived after the statue. She reached the bottom. Just as her paw touches the statue, Nix shoots downward with a bubbly screech. Ashpaw's Jump is tested...The serpent's tail wraps around Ashpaw's body... but by using her energy, she can wriggle free. |
