you need to be a bit more specific
like HTML5? just basic CC? or maybe just show us something you would like to be able to do so we have some idea of where you want to go

I see a lot of people put pictures as backgrounds instead of just plain color. Also I try to do like have a bar on the top And then something on the side but it never works.mainly just getting better at HTML

And hortizontal div boxes floating above the text div. The reason I ask for specifics is because "get better at HTML" is open to very wide interpretations.

I'll give you a tip for now because I'm super busy and can't really explain it right now Study other forumer's coding. Take their layouts and fiddle with them, adjusting one component at a time to see how it effects the overall result. That's how I learned to HTML code. Study, copy, and manipulate.

Here's an example of a gradient. Here's some more info about how gradients work in CSS. Also, just a bit of a pet peeve as a programmer: referring to HTML and CSS as "coding" is kinda like calling rowing a kayak "sailing". HTML and CSS are markup languages (can just be called "markup"), not actual programming.
