Essentially, this page is for any interactions that takes place on any border or outside either territories. Have an excursion to the small town down by the coast? Rp it here! A battle at the gorge? Write out your fight scenes with dignity here! Wanna have your character explore the fields to the east? Well this is the place for it! The only thing you should not rp here is "in territory exploration" or within territory patrols. The border patrols can rp here, but not hunting patrols/cats going on walks within the territory/etc. IF your cat is on a border walk, just lone patroling the border then that's fine! Just as long as it is AT THE BORDER. Because this is a border page. Not the Clan page.
Anyway, have fun!

Post Limit We are a semi-advanced clan, and so we expect posts that reflect this. Please post a minimum of three lines while roleplaying (not including OOC comments). We want to discourage too little substance for a proper reply, while at the same time, we do not want to force filler where none is needed. Three lines is the minimum Inactivity For members less than a month: Absence without prior explanation will result in removal after a week of inactivity. They will be tagged in a post here as a warning 24 hours prior: if it goes unanswered, they will be deleted. For members proven reliable in the past, more leniency is granted. Absence without prior explanation will result in a removal after two weeks of inactivity. They will be receive two tagged warnings: one at the end of the first week, and again at the end of the second. Should 24 hours pass after the second with no answer, they will be deleted. Deleted members can rejoin if they choose to. Remember Yourself It's important to take the time and evaluate how your post might affect others in the roleplay. Are you spotlighting (hogging plot attention)? Are you controlling a character that does not belong to you? How realistic are your cats' actions, thoughts, or abilities? Characters Like most clans, we have limitations in what we allow in character. Unrealistic pelt/eye colors or detailed shapes (such as a star) on their fur are not allowed. Take into account what is common in the clan: for instance, black cats are uncommon amongst ashcats but prevalent in swampcats. No special powers. Just keep it realistic, y'all. Try to keep an even ratio of genders if possible. Reach Out Don't sit in your own bubble inside the roleplay. Few things are more boring then members who create their own little world between their own characters, but ignore others. Reach out to other RPers and see if they'd be interested in creating a connection between your cats: siblings, mates, friendships, rivalries. It creates a more complex and compelling story. Seek Permission If you have an idea for a plot point, ask the administrator first before enabling it. It might contradict our intended outline, or we may love it and restructure our story around it! Keep it Appropriate It's alright if it strays a little into the PG-13 territory every now and then, but remain mindful that not every roleplayer enjoys graphic scenes. As such, in fight scenes, describe an appropriate amount of information to be clear without unnecessarily gory details. Sexual scenes are not allowed. Take care with sensitive subjects. Side Note No kit-stealing/styling or herb stealing please. If you want to have a battle, please private message the admins in a group message so we may talk about the possibility.

Redstar was tired, down to his bones. As he led his patrol, which wasn't a smooth one and if he could be honest with himself for one minute then he could admit he was never good at organizing them– even in his approximate three days of deputyship before he was given leadership, which, by the way, were three horrible days. Saphiresky had been a good deputy, organized and firm. She did her duties admirably and she did them efficiently. Redstar would miss her– he paused in his stride. The trees thinned, the ground started to soften. They were at the Gorge. "Right. Everyone spread out, if you find something or smell something unusual, shout."

"What do you smell, Mattedpaw?" Redstar asked kindly, as he examined the log, noting the claw marks on the ground near it. Remainders of a fight, but they already knew that. "Close your eyes and focus in on that one sense." Redstar didn't take apprentices, though he might– someday. For now he'd advise any and all who came to him.

With a rather smug grin, Seedspeck trotted north, spring in her step. Dragging himself beside her was a ragged, tired Tigerpaw, wheezing his way alongside her. He had never been out on a patrol that took him this far before, and he had underestimated how far he'd have to walk. He had always had some difficulty with breathing, and it was hard for him to travel long distances because of this. Nevertheless, the ruddy tom continued by his cousin's side. "Stop following me around, furball," she growled, her whiskers quivering in annoyance. "If I find anything, you're not going to take half of my credit for finding it. This is a job for warriors, not apprentices that know jack-squat about being a true Clan member." She sped up and ran off, far enough that Tigerpaw could only see a silhouette of her. He huffed angrily at his cousin's egotistical attitude and turned the other way, heading east.

redstar is so cute omg matted x red best friends ]]
The apprentice flicked his ear, his whiskers twitching as he listened to Redstar's instructions. His ears flattened, Jaws parting a bit more than before. He breathed in, the scent of the mixing clans flooding his senses. Redstar's scent, the other's. A hint of mouse. Mattedpaw flicked his ear, fur fluffing up before he let his voice pipe up. "Mice, the patrol, the scent markers," he reported, ears flicking as he closed his eyes, inhaling again. "Nothing out of the ordinary, sir."

[ Too bad Red is a horrible father XD He pretends Squirrel and Light don't exist 98% of the time ]
Redstar scented the air as well– getting the same results. Nothing unusual, which wouldn't be a concern if it was any other circumstance. Someone has tried very hard to make it seem like there is nothing wrong here... he thought with a grim smile. "Good work, Mattedpaw. Lets see what Tigerpaw has found–" he turned and called out to the weaker kitten, who he saw had been left in the dust by his cousin. Scowling, he would be sure to have words with Seedspeck. They were not BayouClan, they didn't leave the weaker behind. Large fires pulled all smaller blazes into it, protecting them. Weaker embers were fed and maintained by larger blazes, and in turn larger blazes stayed alive by the weaker embers. That is how CalderaClan would run under his leadership, and there would be no excuses for abandonment. Not under his reign. "Tigerpaw can you see anything unusual?" Gently, Redstar reminded himself. Do not be harsh. The apprentices are learning, relax.

"Nothing yet," admitted the russet apprentice, still slightly miffed from this cousin running off. He lowered his voice and pawed the ground. "That iss, unlesss you count the abandoning ritual of an ignoramuss." He might have had a lisp, but he did have an extensive vocabulary (which he did use to his advantage). His anger at his cousin soon died out and was replaced with an awe for his leader- he was obsessed with the ways of the Clan, and the leader fascinated him with his close connection to StarClan and the fact that he was the heart and soul of CalderaClan. He couldn't help but feel humbled beside him.

"Is that unusual though?" Redstar joked lightly, nudging the much smaller cat. "Never mind her. Seedspeck will have to learn patience or she won't be chosen for any serious duties" Though that was more to himself than to the apprentices. "Come on boys, lets have a look around. Stay close." The leader continued east a bit, not too far from the log. In truth he was following the tracks left by Sapphiresky and the cat she fought. Whoever they were, they were large and definitely CalderaClan. The paw prints left in the dirt were so obviously left CalderaClan ground fighting techniques, a rooted stance that kept the cat balanced and ready to spring into the air at a moment's notice. "Who ever did this managed to break Sapphiresky's root." He muttered, brow furrowing. Echocavern was definitely capable of that– for no matter how clumsy he was, the large male could definitely pack a punch. One that even an experienced and versatile warrior like the former deputy could not defend against easily. He turned to look at the two young cats, face grave, "One thing I need you both to know, what all you apprentices need to know, is that the root is very important. How you stand in a fight is how you live. Breaking your root, even to go into the air, leaves you vulnerable. And that is how whoever did this got Sapphiresky. Never break your root unless you need to. And know your basics, know them so well you can do them in your sleep. A great fighter may only know the basics but they will be a master in them."
He felt as if he'd lectured enough for the day, turning back to examine the prints more.

Redstar slipped into a typical fighting stance, paws spread so his weight was evenly distributed between his back legs and haunches. "Like this. If you feel like the wind can topple you over, or if you feel even slightly unbalanced– you're not rooted. You need to be– well, the best example would like a bird waiting to take flight. Ready. Waiting. Then you lunge. There are many different techniques that can be launched from a steady, even root." Redstar stepped out of a steady root, putting his paws slightly closer together, and his left side alignment slightly stretched too far, "Something like this leaves you easily knocked over." He flicked his tail, motioning for one of them to take a swing at him.

Chills crawled Tigerpaw's spine, itching into his heart as he started upon the dead deputy's tracks. These were the last impressions- physically and metaphorically- the former deputy had left on the Earth. This was the dying moment of Sapphiresky, illustrated with nothing but a pawprint here and a claw mark there. It spoke of nothing and everything. Cautiously, he ignored the sense of dread that coursed through his blood. Tigerpaw then saw Redstar was giving his fellow apprentice a lesson, and paused as he realized the leader was setting an example of a bad root. He put together that Redstar wanted someone to pounce on him, and a quick vision of glory flickered through his mind as he lunged for the much taller leader. He figured he was probably going to botch it up somehow- as he felt he always did- but it would be at least worth the try.

Though Tigerpaw was small, when he pounced, Redstar still stumbled. Straightening his stance, back into a steady root he smiled warmly at Tigerpaw, eyes crinkling with pride. "That was a good pounce, Tigerpaw. Do you see how having a good root is important? Even if you're small and your opponent stronger– if their root is unsteady then you have a chance" Nodding towards the paw prints, "See how Sapphiresky must have slipped in her stance–" he pointed to where a paw skidded back and then the marks got closer together and more frantic– eventually ending with deep claw marks into the earth at the edge of the gorge, as if Sapphiresky had tried to scramble back up to safety. "Echocavern must have been very determined" After the words left his mouth, he wished he could have called them back. The blood rushed from his face, shame flooding his nerves. Have I already made a decision? I haven't even seen all the evidence- he thought miserably.

Echocavern? Tigerpaw felt his mind begin to fluster as he pondered what Redstar had said, his face displaying a tinge of betrayal. He had thought of the tom as a decent Clan member and a wonderful mentor to other apprentices- but was it a facade? Horror slowly entwined itself around his heart as he wondered if Echocavern was going to kill an apprentice like him. Like Lionpaw. "Would Echocavern kill an apprentissce?" asked Tigerpaw, his voice quivering and faltering, his tail nervously next to his back leg and his lisp somewhat worse than it usually was. A murderer was definitely on the loose here- and an apprentice would be an easy kill like hawks plucking young rabbits from the ground.

"We don't know if Echocavern did it." Redstar meowed quickly, "It is just a.. suspicion. An accusation." He wasn't sure anymore, looking at these tracks– so few CalderaClan cats could manage to out think and over power Sapphiresky– at least, few who had the motive. "And no, he wouldn't hurt apprentices." Echocavern would not, even if he was the murderer. Of that, Redstar was certain. I'm too young for this he thought grimly. For a moment, a pulse of hate for the former leader rushed through him but it subsided as quickly as it came. "Come. Let us collect Seedspeck and go home. We have other things to do today."
