She was one of his best friends and mate for a long time. Ashblossom lied to him about who he thought were his own kits. He's very hurt and angry. The people he trusted, in his point of view, are all betraying him and while he wants Buckheart to leave, he cares about his clan and wants it to be strong. Buckheart is honestly one of the strongest Toms Thunderclan. I don't agree with his actions but I do understand why he did it |

He feels like Ashblossom will continue to lie and maybe even betray the clan one day. And during that time Ashblossom is the only queen so the kits would starve. Besides, Ashblossom would fight for her kits. She's a very motherly she-cat

He didn't really do that later, so I think this just foreshadows what he plans to do to his clan
