The moonstone itself is a very mysterious stone. It is depicted as a bright, reflective, and blue stone in a great abundance. What type of stone is it? How is it connected to Starclan? Why was the mine abandoned? I would like to hear your opinions on these matters and more!

Knowing the world now, that person would probably take a picture and snapchat it/post it on social media, then it would get on the news and the relocation of the cats would happen extra early. |

I guess the mind was abandoned because the humans found a better mine somewhere else, I have no idea. Maybe it's just magic that connects the stone to Starclan

I would guess it may be a Blue Diamond, Blue Jeremejevite, or possibly even Blue Apatite.

On the twolep version of the map it said that is was called something along the lines of "Devil`s finger or Devils Mine." And, recall it saying that the entrance to the moonstone was very narrow and their pelts were brushing up against the walls. I doubt that the twolegs would`ve abandoned the mine without seeing the moonstone.

So I did a little research, and it appears the Moonstone was confirmed to be a giant quartz crystal. It is stated in Bluestar's Prophecy. As sited here: Link |

I think that it's connection with StarClan is probably the general aesthetic and draw of the place. You go through these dark tunnels for ages till suddenly, you find yourself in this cavern flooded with moonlight and a huge, shining, blue crystal in the middle. Its a highly ethereal type scene when you imagine it, and it's sort of like a cathedral or a church or something. The clans found it, and they must have deemed it an extremely "holy" kind of place, and it became their sort of "place of worship" almost.

Spoiler from Dawn of the Clans below: Especially if you think about the fact that the clans had huge origins from the tribe (At least from the jist I get from the Dawn of the Clans book I've ready) The fact that there is a giant blue crystal in the center of a mountain probably reminded the ancestors and the living cats of the Cave of Pointed Stones from the Tribe of Rushing Water.... That might have something to do with the ties to Starclan. |

Didn't the cats have to crawl through a narrow passage to get to the stone? Maybe the owner of the mine mined what they could and gave up when they couldn't find anything else.
