Signing into the guild had been one of the first things she'd done. It had taken a few odd jobs to get the entrance fee together, but she'd been rewarded well for her efforts so far. She'd gotten her name out there enough that some stronger warriors were willing to work with her. She'd picked up sword fighting quickly, having been in more than just a few scraps in her time in the normal world. She had dodging and mobility down already, adding swords to it wasn't too difficult. She'd gotten good at finding treasure down secret passages, and recognizing when enemies were around the next corner. Her efforts had yielded enough coin for her to live comfortably, and she'd even been able to put aside a bit of money to invest in better armor.
She was returning to the guild with a few other adventurers. They'd been on three missions together so far, and they'd all ended well. No one had been seriously hurt, and they'd found enough loot to split evenly and turn a profit. The brooch she'd been given had come in handy more than just a few times, and she now wore it proudly on her cloak. Finally, they walked back in through the doors. The sun had gone down enough in the sky that she took her hood down. Her hair had only grown longer since her visit, and she'd taken to braiding the lower half. Otherwise, she didn't look any different. She picked a table and sat down, the rest of her group scattering to their own business. She was ready to unwind after spending three days out in the woods taking down beasts twice her size. She set her bag next to her on the bench and she stretched with a wide yawn. She'd place an order for food in a few minutes, but first she wanted to relax.

Hal fought, tooth and nail, every second that they tried to force him into that shuttle. No way in hell he was going down there without a fight. "No! I refuse to die like this! If your people spread the wealth more fairly and made it possible for people to move up in society, there wouldn't have been a need for any of this stuff to happen!" The young man roared as he was eventually forced into the shuttle by four larger men. He glared at the guards as they laughed at his demise and closed the door to the shuttle. The timer on the wall furthest from him, I say that ironically, as the pod could barely fit both he and Kenzie comfortably, read 5:00 minutes and it was counting down. With about three minutes to go, Hal had nearly lost his voice due to all the obscenities he had yelled at and to the wicked men in front of him. With about a minute left to go, he sat down with a soft thud. "You know... I feel bad for you girl. You were merely doing the right thing... and now you've been branded with treason and sentenced to death. All because of me." Hal said with a soft sigh. 20 seconds left. "You know something... if we survive this somehow... I'll dedicate the rest of my life to protecting you. I know that's not much for consolidation, but it's the most I can do at this point." Zero seconds left. The shuttle roared to life and shot down towards the Earth's surface like a cannon. It wasn't long after that, that the parachute went off and they landed safely to the ground. Out of the blue, Hal fell into a laughing fit, wiping tears from his eyes he was laughing so hard. "Forgive me but... I don't even know your name. Would you mind telling me your name?"

"Wait what? Did you say an entrance fee?" Bist asked incredulously. Of course there is an entrance fee, idiot! You think that they're just gonna give you this kind of information for free? Bist sighed softly. "One second please, I need to get my funds in order." He said to the receptionist, who nodded politely. Bist slowly, and lets be honest here, pathetically, made his way towards a bench near the corner of the tavern and sat down with a soft oomph. The young man leaned his spear up against the wall beside him and rested his head on the table. After a short while of doing nothing but wallow in self pity, Bist finally decided to do something! And that was, spin this silver Eris he found in the street on his way over here on the table, while wallowing in self pity.

IC Kenzie on the other hand, hadn't spent near as much time arguing about it, she had given up and been put in the shuttle rather compliantly. She was internally panicking pretty bad though, and was sitting on the floor, hugging her knees when Hal had finally entered. It wasn't fair of course, that she was here with him. She had done nothing wrong and she was certainly not a criminal. However there wasn't much she could do about that now. So she was simply trying her best not to cry. Then he was there, saying he'd protect her and she gave a weak, chocked out giggle. "That's really not necessary..." she said quietly, however she didn't have much time to say anything else, as the shuttle had landed, rather nicely actually, and the man stuck in here with her, was...laughing. It was almost contagious and Kenzie found herself cracking a smile in return. "I'm Kenzie," she introduced herself as she got up, taking a look around the shuttle. "It seems we'll be spending a lot of time together, so I guess it's good to get to know each other," she said as he smiled over at him. Feeling a little better since he seemed to be nice, well nice for a criminal, a lot nicer than Kenzie had previously thought, it was comforting, actually. [/fon

"Most new people I meet are just like me, it's nice to meet someone well, innocent for a change. Though you can thank your wealthy status for that." Hal said with a sigh. "Oh and I'm not like a murderer or anything, I'm just a thief. I'm not gonna like try to wear your skin or anything so like, yeah. You don't have to worry about that." He said trying to appeal to the girl with his rather dark sense of humor, probably not his best idea though. "So, how long do you want to sit in here? I'd say we got another ten, fifteen minutes max before the oxygen in this thing runs out... then we have to go out there." He said, clearly in deep thought. "I've never really felt remorse or regret for ever stealing anything, except for this. I robbed you of a life, Kenzie and for that I'm sorry. You seem like a very nice girl, I'm not asking you to forgive me. You can hate me all you want... Hell I've got a knife in my boot, if you wanted to kill me I wouldn't blame you. An eye for an eye, right? A life for a life."

Valkoinen stood up from her seat, grabbing her pack and walking toward the counter to order. She spoke to the present employee for a moment, telling them what she wanted and passing over a few coins to pay for her dinner. She turned around and looked over the sea of heads a moment. She was a little curious where the others had gone off too... She spotted one sitting with his own friends and eating, and from here she could hear him talking about their last mission. She didn't see the other though. She took a moment longer before she spotted a spear against the back wall. Wait...
She took a few steps toward it, trying to see if it was what she thought it was... It really looked like it. She knew that spear. So the owner had to be nearby... It took a second longer for her to spot a familiar figure at the table next to the spear. Ha! To be honest, she sort of thought he'd gone somewhere else, or that he'd been killed again early on. No one had heard of a warrior or mage by the name of Bist, so she'd slowly stopped searching after the second month. A wide grin formed on her face and she moved up behind him. Since his head was down, she placed a palm on the back of his head to keep him from lifting it. "Well, it's about time you turned up!" She commented. "Where've you been?"

IC Kenzie's eyes widened. "Kill you? Um. No...That's okay. It's not really your fault I'm stuck here anyways," she said and cast a glance towards the door to the shuttle, gulping. "What do you think is out there?" She asked timidly, bringing a hand up to tug at some of her hair, it was a big of a nervous tick with her, to play with her hair when she was anxious...which admittedly, happened a lot. "Do you really think it's as inhospitable as everyone says?" She questioned, eyes locked on the door as it seemed to loom over her intimidatingly. Over all, this situation was very frightening. She was stuck here, in a small shuttle, stranded on the inhospitable ground, with someone she didn't even know the name of. There was no way to go home and she was going to die within the next couple of minutes because their oxygen was running out. It was...it was terrifying, and Kenzie gave her hair another tug as she let out some anxious whines as she tried to keep herself from panicking too badly. It was just really hard to keep herself together in this situation.

Valkoinen laughed at his response, waiting to be put back down before she plopped down on the seat. "I have a few questions, too. Where in the world have you been?" She asked, setting her bag on the table. "I've been asking and asking, but no one in the entire guild's heard of you! I couldn't even find you in any of the guild's records. I thought you'd gone off or something." She have another short laugh, almost not believing she'd actually found him again. It wasn't easy to even remember the room with the goddess, and part of her had worried it had only been a dream or something. Still, the brooch and finding him again only confirmed that it had been real, just like her life in the normal world. Now that they'd found each other, maybe they might actually make some progress with this Demon King thing. She'd learned very little about him other than what Eris had said, and there'd been so little to work with until now.

"Seriously?" Valkoinen looked surprised to hear he'd had such a rough start. "No, I didn't have any such misfortune. I came in on the street, actually, I landed really close to the guild. I only had to work a week or two to get enough gold to enter, and even then I've had a lot of help from other members training and getting stronger. I mean, I suppose if you want to hear about trouble, we were out in this dungeon last week, and I almost caused part of it to cave in after I got thrown into a support beam. Otherwise, it's just been typical monster fighting and stuff. Wait? Have you gotten to leave the city yet?" She asked.

OOC Text
IC Kenzie gulped as he went to open the door. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this yet. "Calm down Kenzie...you can do this. A new chapter in your life, just like a character in a story," she told herself quietly to calm herself down, and luckily it did work and she was able to calm herself. She took a few more deep breaths before she walked over to the door and stood next to Hal, smiling warily at him. "Alright Hal, lets see what's outside," she said, trying to sound more confident than she actually was. "It's nice to meet you, by the way," she added, since that was the polite thing to say and even in situations like this, well at least even like this, she was polite. It was one of her morals, to be polite no matter what.

"I thought you'd have the same start..." Valkoinen admitted. "Well the beam took more damage than I did. I mean, we were fighting some pretty big beasts. It could have ended a lot worse. But forget about all that, things will be easier now that we can work together." She looked at the coin in his hand, shaken her head. "That won't get you more than a drink here. Hey, lets say I sponsor your entrance. I've been going out of the city and selling treasure for almost two months now. I should have enough to cover some basic gear and admission to the guild." She offered. "At least this way you can catch a break."

OOC I imagine she's around 15/16.
IC Kenzie looked at all the wildlife cautiously, however Hal seemed to think it was okay...so maybe, maybe it was. She inhaled and took Hal's hand, jumping on down next to him. Once her feet landed softly on the ground, with minimal clumsiness too, she took her hand back and ran it through her brown hair as he exhaled, looking in awe at all the shrubbery as she took a few steps forward, small twigs crunching under her shoes. "Wow..." she said quietly, reaching a hand out to touch one of the big lofty leaves. "This is nothing like they say it is..." she said in stunned amazement. Maybe...maybe it wasn't so bad down here after all. Of course Kenzie had never been the camping type either. She rather enjoyed her life inside. But now she didn't have a choice. It would take some getting used to, but she wasn't dead. So on the bright side, there was that.

Hal was on high alert, his eyes scanning their surroundings while his ears searched for any noise. "Shh!" He whispered. "Get down!" He added in a hushed voice, crouching down below the underbrush and pulling her down with him. "There's something coming, 2 o'clock..." He put his ear the ground. "And it's moving fast, sounds like it's on all fours." They were too far away from the pod now, as getting up and running towards it would compromise their location. Hal cursed silently, while retrieving the small dagger he kept in his shoe. "Don't know why they didn't search my shoes, but I'm glad they didn't." He whispered, his eyes scanning ahead of them, when all of a sudden he heard a snarling noise from behind him. No way! The noise coming from in front of them was... a decoy? Hal turned his head slowly to see a rather large wolf standing behind him and Kenzie. It was all a blur, but Hal grabbed his knife, stabbing the beast in the neck a decisive killing blow. "Come on, we gotta get outta here. These things hunt in packs... meaning there's more than one of these." He said, grabbing Kenzie's hand and running off to their left.

"I mean, if you don't want me to solve all your problems, I'll respect that, but if you don't have a place to stay, I'm renting. You can stay with me until you've got a place of your own." She offered. She passed a handful of gold coins to him. "Go place a dinner order after you get into the guild. I've already got dinner on it's way, it'll be weird if I'm the only one eating." She added. "Once we're all set up, I'll talk to the others and we'll see if we can get together an adventuring party."

IC Kenzie had not expected that and was currently being thrown into a bunch of emotions. Though right now she was mostly just terrified. Suddenly this place seemed just as scary as everyone made it seem. She didn't scream though, just let out a sort of pathetic whine as Hal grabbed her hand and she started to run. "This may not be-" she paused to pant while she ran. "The best time to mention this...but I haven't ever been-" more panting interrupted her speech. "The best runner. I know I'm small, but I'm just not all that fast..." she explained while they ran. She was more of the type to do yoga for a workout, and if she was going to go outside, she much preferred walks, maybe speed walking. Honestly Kenzie was useless in these type of situations. Well, at least sort of. "Can't we maybe hide...disguise our scent? They've certainly caught onto it by now...but we could use something and...maybe not run so much..."

Bist let out another long sigh before taking the gold coins and walking towards the bar. He decided he'd order his food first, then get all of this adventurer stuff out of the way when he was waiting on his food. He ordered giant frog legs, the cheapest thing on the menu, and an ale. The lady didn't ID him so he figured why not. With that he walked over to the receptionist he talked to earlier. "Here is the entrance fee." A couple of minutes later, Bist came back to the table Val was sitting at and sat down in front of her. "So believe it or not, my intelligence and luck factors are maxed out. The intelligence I get but the luck... really? Maybe it means bad luck is maxed out, who knows." Bist said with a shrug, showing Valkoinen his Adventurer Card. "Oh and I chose the Hunter class, in case you were wondering... also which class did you choose?"

Valkoinen took her card out of her bag and passed it to him. Average stats with a high HP-pool. A little low on the luck side, but the strength made up for it. "Fighter's class. But congrads. I've heard from a few people that a good intelligence means you can learn a few spells regardless of your class. I might be wrong though." She smiled. "Here, let me see the cards. I'll take them around and see if we can get some people to come join us. I'll be back in a few minutes." She said, standing up. She'd be back earlier if she saw the waitresses bring their trays.

Hal rolled his eyes, and stopped, very briefly and picked Kenzie up, throwing her over his shoulder. "Running would be best, we've got a head start on them, I got some of the wolf blood on me from before, so hopefully they'll think I'm him or something. Who knows I certainly don't." Hal huffed, while running full speed. Shortly after, three wolves appeared behind them, and they were gaining ground. He looked around, for anything to escape to, when just ahead of him he spotted a tree with a low hanging branch, just above head height. Alright, I'm gonna throw her in that tree, safe from these wolves and I'm gonna face them head on... not the best but it's what I got. He thought when out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a rusted door, sticking out from under the underbrush. Hal decided to take the risk, and turned towards the door, running full speed towards it. This is boom or bust... if it is bust... Kenzie I'm sorry. He thought. The door itself looked like an old submarine hatch, thank God it wasn't closed because there was no way he'd have enough time to spin the wheel open with these wolves behind him. Hal gently threw Kenzie down the hatch and quickly followed her, however one of the wolves had managed to grab hold onto his left arm. He screamed in pain, before ripping his arm from the wolf's jaws and slamming the lid to the bunker shut. "Gah!" He yelled in pain as blood streamed down his arm, despite not being a mortal wound, in a land like this with no medical equipment, it very well could be.

Valkoinen returned to the table when she saw Bist's summon. She sat down and shook her head. "No. Sorry. No one's really up for the lower challenge areas." She replied. "We can try going to a more dangerous area... but i don't think that's a good idea. Even if the lower challenge doesn't have the best drops, its still important to start within your means. Don't want you to get one-shot on your first mission." She passed him back his card before putting her own back in her bag. "You should try asking around. You might find someone closer to your level. Everyone I've been hanging around is just too reluctant to backtrack." She picked up her own drink - some sort of fruit juice - and took a sip before she started eating her food. She wasn't sure what made up most of this meal, but she'd learned quickly not to ask. If it was safely edible, it was on the menu, no matter where it came from.

IC Kenzie let out a small yelp as she was picked up, and then well, everything was just happening so fast, there was so much to process so fast. So when she landed, and shakily sat up, she was still processing everything that had happened. "A-are you okay?" She asked, noticing Hal's arm. "We should bandage that up," she said and looked down at her clothes, reaching down to take off the sash tied around her waist, quickly she untied it and gestured for Hal to come closer. "We should clean it up too, but the most important thing right now is to stop the bleeding," she told him. They didn't want it to keep bleeding, and now that they were no longer in danger of being eaten by well, wolves, they could calm down for a second and just slow down. Everything had gone too fast for Kenzie to keep up.

"Don't mind me." Hal grunted, clearly in pain, but I mean who wouldn't be after an attack like that? He dismissed her offer, with a wave of his hand. "Let's at least see if there's any first aid kits here or not before we dirty up your little sash thing." He said, fumbling around in the extremely dimly lit room, looking for either a first aid kit or a light switch, but both would be ideal. "Haha, we're lucky we made it away from those wolves alive." He said with a soft laugh. "Should have known you wouldn't be a good runner, what with you bein' a librarian and all." He said with a wink, though he doubt he could have seen it due to the dim light so he told her he was just teasing her, as not to seriously hurt her feelings.
