Synopsis:
This isn't really the prologue or anything. It's just one of those teasers you'd find at the back of a POT book.
Most of the ideas here are undeveloped. I just wrote this to sort out some of my ideas. Also, I'd like to note that the writing I am about to give you is not really edited. I did do a proof check, but that was it. Also, yes, it's based off of the Power of Three(it's based off a fanfiction that was based off of The Power of Three).

The chapter:
A young queen stretched out on a patch of grass. Moonlight fluttered onto four mewling kits who squirmed at her belly. They were begging for food as they pushed each other aside with itty paws. Despite their juvenile violence, Berrytail didn't care.
Close by, two cats observed them. One was a tense, brown-and-white tom with wide hazel eyes, and the other was a calmer, mostly white tom with cheerful yellow eyes.
There was a growing apprehension in Rowanfang's chest. Each time that a kit shoved another, tumbled over, or let out a single mew, it grew heavier. This father didn't want anything bad to happen to his newborn kits.
"Relax a bit," Shiverleaf meowed. The medicine cat placed the tip of his tail onto his brother's shoulder. "Your kits are fine. Your mate is fine. Anything that they do now is-"
"But what if they hurt each other? Pain each other? What if they die trying to get milk!" Rowanfang worried. "I would be a failure of a father, wouldn't I?"
"Don't worry, we're watching them. If some odd complication happens, I'll deal with it!" There was a low, friendly rumble in Shiverleaf's chest.
Rowanfang's whiskers shivered. "Hopefully nothing will."
Berrytail looked up at the two toms. "Hey! I think I know what I want to name them!"
Shiverleaf took a few steps towards the gray she-cat. "Oh, what?".
Berrytail curled up around her kits. Looking at them with eyes filled with pride, she pointed her tail to a black she-kit. "Hollykit."
Rowanfang interjected. "I don't like the name Hollykit. How about Nightkit?"
"Alright, but this is the only name I'll allow you to change," anger momentarily flashed in the queen's eyes.
She pointed her tail towards a brown tabby tom that looked hauntingly like Rowanfang. "Beetlekit." And then a mottled gray she-kit. "Sorrelkit."
"And the last one?" Rowanfang stared his eyes at a small, mottled brown tom.
"Toadkit," Berrytail purred. "He's my favourite so far."
"I don't think Toadpaw will be happy with that name," Rowanfang remembered the arrogant black-and-white tom.
"Exactly! My little brother deserves everything that comes to him."
"But--" Rowanfang halted himself. There was no point in arguing with his mate. She could never be budged from her solid spot! "I think I'll go to sleep for the night."
"Oh?" Berrytail's gaze hardened. "Don't you want to play with the kits before you leave?"
"Uh," Rowanfang looked at the kits. They barely had a coat, and their eyes were locked shut. "No." He briefly yawned. "Maybe tomorrow? After I finish my duties, of course."
"When do you think you'll be done?" Berrytail inquired.
"The earliest time would be sunhigh," the tom informed. He turned around and headed for his den.
"See you at sunhigh!" Berrytail purred as the brown tom zoomed off.
-
Rowanfang blinked his eyes open to a forest. Mist curled around angular trees and created a haze. However, small, star-like dots were sprinkled in the bushes, in the sky, and in the mist. Despite all of these obvious hints, Rowanfang didn't realize that this odd place was called StarClan.
Well, that was until a cat came and told him.
A cat emerged from nearby bracken. Their red pelt was speckled with lights, and their grass-colored green eyes were sparkling. "Hello, Rowanfang."
Rowanfang calmly nodded in acknowledgment.
"You're in StarClan, but don't be alarmed, you're not dead yet."
The ShadeClan deputy asked a question. "Why am I here, Russetpelt?" Russetpelt was his mentor when he was an apprentice. They had died from some rogues soon after he became a warrior.
"I have some information for you-- a prophecy if you fancy that term," Russetpelt explained, making Rowanfang's paws jitter in anxiety.
As Russetpelt spoke, their voice boomed across the entire forest.
"Bound by blood, four cats will hold power greater than the stars themselves."
"Do you know what it means?" Rowanfang quickly demanded to know. The dream was starting to dissolve in front of his curious eyes.
Russetpelt shook their head. "I'm afraid not. I'm only a messenger."
Before Rowanfang could speak again, the dream disappeared completely, leaving Rowanclaw in the warriors' den with his eyes closed. Groggily, he blinked open his eyes and stood up. The sun was just coming over the horizon; it was time to start working.
-
After organizing several patrols, and participating in one or two himself, Rowanfang headed towards the nursery. Berrytail was definitely waiting for him to come.
All throughout that morning, the prophecy had burned in his mind. There were four cats-- four siblings --that held ultimate power. Rowanfang couldn't help but be intrigued by whom they might be, yet the mystery simultaneously scared him out of his mind. Their abilities could be used for good... or for evil.
Rowanfang slipped into the nursery, seeing his mottled gray mate laying on the ground with the kits. A queen with a swollen belly sat beside her. They had clearly been talking with each other.
"Hey, Rowanfang!" Goosewhisker purred. "Your kits are wonderful!"
"But they're quite a pawful," Berrytail interjected.
"They're nothing we can't handle, however!" Goosewhisker added optimistically. "You know, I'm sure raising my and Adderstripe's kits will be easy!"
Rowanfang approached them as a boggy smell infiltrated his nostrils. When he smelt it, his heart sank in horror. "Berrytail, did you leave camp?" He inquired. "With newborn kits?"
"I left camp-- actually, we left camp," Berrytail admitted. "Just me and Goosewhisker, not the kits."
"Who took care of the kits?" Rowanfang's tail quivered. Other than Berrytail and Goosewhisker, there were no queens in the nursery.
"Kinktail," she replied, smugness flashing behind her yellow eyes. "She was a great mother to me, and she was a good temporary caretaker of our kits."
An image flashed in Rowanfang's mind, one of mewling kits. They were starving, and their high-pitched meows were growing weaker by the second. A she-cat, who was standing nearby, clearly had no idea what to do; she wasn't the kit's actual mother, and thus she couldn't give them the milk they needed.
"But she can't feed them if she doesn't have any milk!" Rowanfang screamed. "And if they can't any milk, do you know what that'll mean?" Rage bubbled under his bristling pelt. "That's right, dead kits!"
"Oh, stop overreacting! You've always been quite the worrier!" Berrytail purred, ignoring her mate's fury. "I'd never allow our kits to die."
Rowanfang's gaze softened as he realized how he must've sounded to the gray queen. "I-I'd hope not," he meowed, sitting down and curling his tail around his paws.
A few little mews emerged from the pile of fur laying at Berrytail's belly. They started to wiggle and squirm. The she-cat looked at them warmly. "You guys want a snack?"
She looked up at Rowanfang. "How about you come back in a bit?"
"Will do." The ShadeClan deputy dipped his head respectfully and headed out of the den. Before he started to crawl through the tendrils comprising it, he looked back at his adorable kits. One of their heads was pointed straight towards him. Nightkit's to be exact. How adorable, he thought with a light purr. He turned back around took a step forwards.
He only took one before looking backwards again.
Did Nightkit just open her eyes? It's way too early! Rowanfang doubted his own sight. He had sworn that he just saw Nightkit's burning hazel eyes open. Thankfully, her eyes were still shut.
As Rowanclaw padded out of the nursery further, he thought about what just happened with his she-kit. The power surging beneath her eyes was scorched into his brain.
An idea passed by his head, right then and there.
What if Beetlekit, Nightkit, Sorrelkit, and Toadkit are the four cats mentioned in that prophecy?
