{ What are stylized textures? :0 }
{ Ooo science What kinda lab }
Up to you? It was almost as if Mika was for some reason afraid of or uncomfortable with the idea of just asserting his purpose. Yoongi couldn't understand it. Hyunsuk had never had any trouble snapping out orders and even the nobleman had been more assertive than this, Yoongi had thought that the prince, of all people, would be used to going around giving orders.
"I'll come with you, sire." He'd never been in a library before and, quite frankly, Yoongi wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to stay here and wait alone, if it would be a good idea to not be with Mika because what if someone came by and asked what he was doing all alone? He could say that Mika ordered him to stay, if only Mika had ordered him to do anything.
It would be better to go.

I modeled them in Maya and painted the textures in Photoshop. We were following a tutorial, but the videos weren't working on my laptop, so I free-handed it. :3 Stylized artwork in games (like Warcraft, Okami, Borderlands, ect) are non-photorealistic assets, so they don't try to look super realistic. They tend to hold up better over time and they often give a unique charm to a game)

(eheheheh not science lab. There are no science classes at my school. My school is focused on visual and audio media/entertainment. I'm here for game art, so its lab for my Stylized Textures class.)
Mika gave a small nod, waving his hand for Jackson to follow. He began walking once again, down the same hallway and past his own room. He led the way to another hall, though instead of walking the entire length of it, he opened the first door on the left.
The library was perhaps twice the size of his own quarters. It was only a one story room, but the shelves were tall enough that there were multiple laters set to slide along the shelves to reach books near the top. The center of the room was set up with multiple chairs and desks. Because the library was built along one of the walls the formed the courtyard, there were large windows to provide a lot of natural light, and even more chairs lined up near the light source.
Mika, having known this place since he was old enough to read, had a general idea of where each section was, though he still didn't know all the books and manuscripts in each area, or how many total there were. He walked forward to where he usually pulled his books from - a shelf closer to the back full of books in other languages. He pulled down three books, one a work of fiction and two others to help him translate it.

{ :0 You made that!? That's so cool oml They look good c': like they could be in an actual game i like it }
{ Oh lol that makes sense Science is a bore anyway }
The sheer size of the library was enough to make Yoongi's jaw drop. It was safe to say that Yoongi hadn't had any idea of what libraries were supposed to look like before now, but he certainly hadn't expected the place to look like this. The shelves were so tall that one would need to use a ladder to get the books that were higher up and there were lots of chairs and desks and the windows were so big...
Yoongi wasn't sure what to think.
He himself couldn't even read. He knew his own name, but that was about it. It had never occurred to his parents to teach a five year old to read and his brother only knew enough about the alphabet to be able to spell out both of their names. And Hyunsuk certainly had not been concerned with whether or not the boy could read or write.
The nobleman had seemed disappointed when Yoongi had explained that he couldn't read, but apparently decided it was no big deal, said something about how the prince probably wouldn't require him to be able to read, anyway. Yoongi suspected that trained servants were supposed to have learned to read.
He looked at the books that Mika had pulled out. He couldn't glean any meaning from the words written on them, but he had the strange desire to understand. He wondered if it would be innapropriate to ask if he could touch the book. He settled for asking, "Do you come here often, sire?"

(We were supposed to use the World of Warcraft style ) (I really like science. I wanted to be a vet but I didn't have the stomach for it.) Mika nodded. "It's usually very quite. My parents don't typically spend a lot of time here unless they need to research something, and even then they'll get the head of staff or someone to look for them. Our collection was accumulated through the generations, and as trade opened with other countries, we started receiving books in other languages. I've been trying to translate this one for almost a week now." He replied with a smile. He paused a moment, trying to calculate how long they might be waiting until Valkoinen would be done training. He guessed another two or three hours. Standing around watching him fuss over translating probably wasn't the most entertaining thing. "You're welcome to look around for anything you might want to read." He offered.

{ They look really good so good job!
And omg I went through a phase where I really wanted to be a vet Also a doctor But honestly I don't think that path is the right one for me }
"Oh." Yoongi frowned, turning to look at the giant collection of books surrounding him. Well, he might look for something to keep himself entertained, if...if only...
"I don't know how to read."
The words just burst out of him, as though he were frustrated with himself for his lack in ability. He turned to Mika, quickly adding on "Sire" to the end of that sentence.
"I never learned."

(>w< I'm happy how they turned out. Unfortunately I didn't get a very good grade on them. I'll just have to do better on the next one.) (I started going to school with vet practice in mind but I very quickly lost a good portion of my soul and I decided I wanted to do what made me happy, and that was art. The best kind of art was video games so i decided 'I'm gonna do that.")
Mika looked a little surprised at that. He knew illiteracy wasn't uncommon, but he hadn't met anyone here who hadn't learned. Sure there were a few dyslexic staff members who had trouble reading, but never anyone who'd never actually learned. Where had he been trained? "Well..." He paused, looking back at the shelves. "It wouldn't take too long to learn, but I don't think I'm the best person to teach you."
He stood up from his seat, going over to one of the shelves and pulling down a fairly large book. "This book has a lot of illustrations of art from the East and from the Islands. You don't need to read in order to enjoy it." He offered, holding it forward to him.

{ Oh my god happy birthday! :0 }
Yoongi shrugged. He hadn't expected Mika to offer to teach him, anyway. That wasn't a task for a prince to complete. He wondered, though, if there would be any problems with him being unable to read. Certainly, the nobleman hadn't thought that it was too big a problem, otherwise Yoongi likely wouldn't be here. But would the royal family think it a problem? He did suspect that most (if not all) staff members working for the family would be literate.
"Thank you, sire." He took the book offered to him, frowning slightly at how large it was. He'd never really handled books before. He'd never had the chance to. In fact, he'd only ever seen one book in person and that was his mother's ancient copy of the Bible. Yoongi himself had never been religious, but his mother was a hard believer in the sacraments. "It looks very...pretty." And indeed just the cover of the book seemed to have more colors than his life had ever had. Quite frankly, Yoongi was amazed.

(>///< Thank you~ we watched Over the Garden Wall with my friends and we bought ice-cream cake for ice-cream cake rootbeer floats. I got a bit of money from mom and we bought a PS4 online)
(If you want, we can move to Valkoinen taking Yoongi around after this)
Mika nodded. "It's really full of wonderful works. I don't really have the knack for art, but it's still something I'd love to see in person. It's a bit of a shame we haven't imported any pieces from the East yet. They're so unique." He replied, offering a smile as he returned to translating. He remained at the desk for some time until coming across a particularly difficult passage. At this point, he had to get up out of his seat and fetch a scroll and writing utensils to try to get this thoughts in order. It had been a while since he'd found something that made him have to translate by hand.
After he'd scrawled nearly three paragraphs on the parchment, he paused to read it over. Some pieces still didn't make sense... Others felt like they required more emphasis. Perhaps a cultural difference? He couldn't be certain. He hadn't gotten to travel yet. In the past generations, the heir would go out to other countries that were considered friendly and learn about the world first hand. This tradition seemed to have stopped after his grandfather hadn't allowed his father the journey, and now he in turn was being in denied his requests.
