Does anyone else when they're saving files ever just kinda.... How do you all choose your file names? Are you the neat and orderly type or do you prefer keysmashes and silly comments? (If you are like me please do share the most amusingly named files you got btw I'd love to see them)

I don't have it on this laptop, it's on my school's computer but for a class last year (biostats) we had to make a folder to save all of our coding for the program we were learning to use. I named mine "YAAAAAAASSSSSS" because I was so excited about the course and confused the heck out of my prof

I probably still have keysmash files on my computer tbh Well I have three separate folders called Stuff, Random Stuff, and Things. Descriptive xD No screenshots, sadly, but here's a list. "BananaKing" "VivaLaBanana" "Face" "Portrait" "FreeHim" "AnotherSlightlyBetterFace" "YouDrewALeg" "PortraitAgain" "ReminderToNotBeAScrub" "NightborneDrawing" "AnotherPortrait" "DEATHFunForTheWholeFamily" "SeriouslyThesePortraits" "APortraitFace" "HahaReminderThatYouFailed" "PortraitOfStonerPirate" "ThisWasFromThatYearWhenYouGaveUp" "ThisYearWasn'tBetterBTWItsAPortrait" I can't decide if I'm more amused by "death fun for the whole family", or "you drew a leg" what a good list

It varies for me
Like for example sometimes when saving an edited video I'll name it something neat like "Overwatch #27"
And sometimes when saving an image for use in editing or something like that I'll just name it something like "F R E E Z E" or "BoomyMcSplodey"

It's a portrait. And I don't want to ruin "Death fun for the whole family" with an explanation, so continue at your own risk. It's a family portrait that I drew. The grandfather died in a war, the grandmother went off basically sacrifice herself (even though she's still alive) to kill some demons.
Their daughter had three daughters; the older two then killed her, and her husband ran off and probably is dead.
Then the eldest daughter got married, had two twins who have a crush on a dead guy. The eldest daughter divorces her husband after he pretends to sacrifice himself to demons to impress her with his cosplay skills. Then the eldest dies to the plague, and is brought back as a zombie with pink hair.
The middle child is a stone pirate captain who gets stabbed in the back with a steak knife by her first mate. She's brought back by a demonic necromancer.
The youngest daughter falls out of a tree and into the ocean. She is later found by the middle daughter, the zombie pirate, and is brought back as a zombie too.
Oh, and they're all elves.

a few things my cat has renamed: o;;;;;asp[''''''''']]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]] used to be something like "External Drive" because it was the files from the old computer when it died
\]ghhhhhhhhhhhhh vvvvvvvvvvb used to be something like "sv new one" with "sv" standing for "Sorrel Vivian," the two main characters of the story I was writing
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\e3 used to be called "forums" because it's a folder that contains five forum screenshots
0lkp[;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;.÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷ used to have a normal image url type thing because I had deleted the picture from my computer but found the url in a Word document so I pasted it into Safari and dragged the picture onto the desktop
gt0-]hy/lo;p used to be my sister's name because it's a picture of her
]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]] used to be my name because it was my folder
"}fgrty6777777777777777777777777 I have no idea what this was called but probably something like "photos (whatever date)"
]\''''''''''''''''' used to be called "linearts"
{ again I have no idea this one is a video though
\0000000 is a picture my mom took
≤≥hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyycv 5645 was called "syrinx kurai" because it has the characters from that story in it
bn + was called "tablemouse" because it has the Tablemouse comic
JKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK3........3333333333333333333333330CXΩÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇ I don't remember what this one was called but it's a folder with videos in it
RT$% was probably called "fire ice"
}"""""" was called "kits"
, was called "lynnette story"
\ was called "weird bird creepy"
there's an empty folder called """""
and I have two documents called "come on" and "sorry" because my cat renamed them to things the computer would not allow me to open so I got frustrated (they open again now) edit: this is the same cat who searched 666 on the wcf search tool

ive been saving stuff to this desktop since the beginning of time and its so disorganized but i can't bring myself to go through everything because that would take 20 years. and im usually just saving a lot of things at once in a hurry so i write really bland names like "smilingdog2" and then im clueless when i go back later ha
but like. the spaces in your file names kill me inside

mine are so organised and I don't even know why. for school, my folders are divided by year, month and week. the naming system goes: title-teacher(subject)-type of assignment-date sent(grade received). all except the title are abbreviated, of course. the most recent example reads 'Economic Growth and Social Welfare-MTh(SO)/ES-220417(-)' my file names get so long it's not even funny. I don't even know why I do this. it makes no sense to anyone including me.
things that aren't for school have gone through like 5 systems, but at the moment that system is mostly folder based so it's a lot easier to work with.

I'm surprised those file names can even exist, my computer usually doesnt like me to save files if they have certain symbols xD it might be because he renamed them from the desktop (not all of them still live on the desktop but I'm pretty sure they were all there at the time of renaming)? some of them are weird to me too (especially the omega…I don't even know how he typed that one) this isn't quite file names but one time when I was playing Minecraft my cat managed to close Minecraft, open a picture from the desktop, and print it (he got distracted hunting the printer)
he has also turned on VoiceOver multiple times
once he made everything disappear from the desktop and I didn't know how to fix it so I put him back on the keyboard and he fixed it
usually he just stands on one key (often the "raise volume") until the computer starts beeping or whatever you'd call that noise
he's really cute but he loves to be in the way
