i know i haven't been around much lately. ive been busy redecorating and cleaning my room (which still isn't technically done but im waiting for a few things to come in so i can finish up and my dad won't be able to help me hook up some new lighting for another week here)
either way, it's always nice to come here and just share my thoughts because i constantly have a lot about many things and i don't have a space to get them out. and although writing helps some, that's mostly for darker and more personal things whereas i like to share some ideas with others. and my girlfriend is good for some things but i enjoy getting a little more back.
that being said, ive been thinking about my fears. i don't know if you know this but i actually have a fear of the dark. it's pretty bad some nights. it's not so bad that i can't function but i do get freaked out when im crossing my room at night since my light switch is all the way on the other side aha.
i have a fear of being trapped in things. i don't lock doors because im afraid i won't be able to unlock them. if im in a new public bathroom that ive never been in, ill always test the lock before actually locking myself in because im afraid ill get stuck in there. but this fear extends to smaller things like rings. i don't like wearing rings because im afraid they'll get stuck on my fingers.
and my last biggest one is a fear of falling over railings. im fine with heights, don't get me wrong. ive been on many tall things. it's just the fear of falling over the barrier that scares me. like especially overlooks on staircases or whatever where there's just a flimsy wooden railing like.... do you want me to die?? so i don't like to be on high things with railings that block the overlook. too much to chance in my opinion. i usually just stand closer to the center.
what are some of your fears?

This might sound weird, but a nightlight might be able to help with the dark thing. They're not just for little kids. I know grown adults who put them in their bathrooms so they don't trip over something in the middle of the night. I have no fears because I'm a courageous knight. I get very uncomfortable around water. I can't swim, so that only makes it worse.
I also hate lights when I try to sleep. I even have extra thick curtains to block out the moon. If the room is lighter than absolute blackness, I start hallucinating freaky shadows everywhere. see that's the thing. i have to sleep in darkness at night. a nightlight would be too much light for me to sleep in. also there's no good place to put one in my room. altho when i was younger i used to sleep with a giant lamp in my room. but that was before my bed was an actual fortress. i have blankets up all around which makes me a lot more comfortable. if i was sleeping out in the open id probably want a little light. but if my gf was with me then id be okay. but any other time i can sleep with the lights on or in the middle of the day. it's just at night.

I'm scared of the dark too, actually. I used to have to sleep with my light on because I was too freaked out to sleep with it off. I now have to sleep with it off, I sleep better in the dark, but I still get really anxious when I have to walk in the dark to flip a light switch.
Heights are no. Screw that, I'm fine on the ground thank you.

I definitely share the whole "falling over a railing" fear. There were a couple at balcony level in the theatre I used to work in and most of the time when we gave tours I'd stay WELL away from them (compared to my two coworkers, who were constantly hanging over them and making me nervous for them).
I'm also scared of darkness combined with alone-ness. If it's a situation where I'm with other people in the dark/can carry on a conversation that's fine, but when I'm by myself most times I have to whistle or sing to myself to calm myself down (even when walking outside alone at night).
Spiders. I'm deathly afraid of spiders. And it's hard to even describe what it is about them, it's just the way they move combined with their shape and the fact that they have so many eyes, ugh. I live in a really old house right now and I'm always concerned that when I clean my room before moving out I'm going to find a ton of them and won't be able to do anything about it.

One of my biggest fears is doing something wrong, and getting told off about it. I absolutely hate it. Like seriously, do people even realize what that does to your self-esteem?
Another one, I guess the biggest one, is the fear of never accomplishing what I strive for in life. I was bullied in both primary and secondary school, and had a load of other issues, including depression, which left me with a burning desire to prove myself to the entire world. So I decided to strive for a career in animation and film, with a wish of one day creating something great for the whole world to see. If I fail to do that, I'll feel like I'll never be able to show everyone what I can do.

I'm definitely not scared of the dark, but after reading an urban legend I've been FREAKIN TERRYFIED of murderers. I get super scared when I'm the only one up at night, but luckily for me my brother usually has big papers to write and has to stay up super late.
And then there's heights, but it depends on how the whole situation is with them. I went to the fifth floor of a building, and I couldn't even look over the rail. After that I went to a building that I think was over thirty stories tall, and they had a little enclosure outside of the building at the top floor, and I was absolutely fine in there.

I find everything about pregnancy and childbirth revolting and scary, so it really annoys me when some of my relatives tell me I'll change my mind about not wanting kids, ever.
I'm also scared of heights and failing other people's expectations. The heights fear would be worse if I were taller, though - I'm so short that any railings come up to my chest, so there's no danger of my falling over them. I still don't like heights, though.

Oh, forgot to mention elevators. I get scared of being in elevators with strangers because I always hear stories of people being murdered in them.

I'm afraid of failing. Letting people down, being late, not doing good enough. Can't stand it.
