This has been on my mind lately, this happened back on the old forums many years ago.
I was looking for a mate but found it very difficult to find one, so I just began looking through posts. I didn't understand the concept of mates very well at the time so I became a mate with a girl and pretended to be a "Tom."
After talking for a while, we became mates and were mates for at least a month before she randomly asked me if I was really a guy. I was confused, wasn't the concept of a mate just to have a friend to role play with? I told her yes I was a girl, but I could still be her mate on the forums. She got very distraught and ended up breaking my heart I'm leaving me.
To that girl, I hope you sleep well at night knowing that you broke my heart because I wasn't really a boy.
( This is complete satire, just saying. I remembered it this A few days ago and just wanted to share lol

If you don't mind, may I ask, how do mates work on the forums? I wasn't on the original forums, and despite having had another account on here once, I still don't understand the concept XD

I wasn't on the original forums, and despite having had another account on here once, I still don't understand the concept XD From what I can remember from the long-gone days of late 2015, mates were kind of like an online romance thing. Kind of like Tinder, but with less swiping. People kept finding mates, proclaiming their love for their mate in their signatures, made dens, etc., and it was really weird.

Wow, that does sound weird There are two different ways. Null listed one, the other is that a forum mate is just a really close forum friend. Often times it just means they do a lot of 1x1 rps and usually go to each others topics a lot. Usually they share the same interests, share a den, or rp a family (mates and the kits ect.)

Just want to say.... this has actually happened to me lol. Which was when we became mates, because I saw it as more of a friend thing, then we just decided the term "mate" wasn't needed

On the old forum's, I was stalking a mate threadand this girl (she-cat whateva) she already had a mate (it was a romantic mate relationship) and some other dude really liked her on there he was telling her. And inconveniently, her and her actual mate had just gotten into an argument and she thought it was over. So she told guy #2 that she would be his mate and then guy #1 (her mate) got on the thread and was like 'What the heck? We are still mates, are you breaking it off?' it was full blown chaos. In the end she was told guy #2 that she couldn't be with him and got back with guy #1.
It is for this reason that I avoid the whole mate thing.
Although I still stalk lol just don't participate.
