Ononoki | living room | no one
There was a pop when Ononoki blinked into the Paradox House, for the first time in a while from the perspective of anyone else there. She was popping a bright green bubble of bubble gum, the same color as her eyes, and it deflated onto her nose and sat there. The little corpse girl couldn't be bothered to do anything about it though, not even chew it back into her mouth. Much like a cat with a foreign object placed on its head, Ononoki stood in place in her usual yellow galoshes while recoiling her head very slowly. Perhaps the popped bubble would remove itself from her face on its own.

"Did I misplace my blue pen? How very irresponsible of me..." He mumbled before directing his gaze to the...rather bizarre looking girl. "Excuse me? Do you need a handkerchief?" He cleared his throat and raised a curious brow. |

| Enjolras | Living Room | To the Lodge! | Enjolras blinked into the House, appearing in the Living Room. His gaze flicked over to the beanbags opposite the hallway to the rooms. Hmm. Those weren't always there. Interesting. But it was as if his attention was being tugged away from it, like looking at them for too long made his gaze a little fuzzy. He turned his attention towards the two other blinkers in the House, neither of whom he immediately recognized. He paused, not wanting to interrupt the two quite yet. |

living room | everyone Madoka showed up in the house a bit ruffled with her school bow slightly crooked and her hair sticking out like she very quickly tied it up without checking a mirror. "Jeez, Sayaka--" her whine cut off when she heard a very different set of voices and found herself right up again the living room's bookshelves when her surroundings came into view, which prompted her to spin on her heel to see that all but one of the current visitors were complete strangers to her, though it was a little embarrassing to say Enjolras was more a face she knew from crowds.
"Oh, hello!" Naturally Madoka's gaze lingered on the girl's bubble gum splattered face, but acknowledged everyone the same with a quick wave before her hand fell onto her head as she remembered her messy hair. |

Ononoki | Living Room | Riddle and Enj
Ononoki swiveled her head when Riddle addressed her. She looked him up and down with what would be a very scrutinizing gaze, if it showed any emotion at all. The bubble gum still stayed on her face while this happened.
"...Handkerchief? ...I said with a posed look." Perhaps she didn't understand what a handkerchief was. Her green gaze shifted over one of Riddle's shoulders to see Enjolras standing there, just watching instead of interacting, looking foolish. Yes, he was the one who looked foolish, not her. "Red... person..." she mumbled, struggling to make up so many nicknames for the blinkers here. It was more difficult without distinct aberrations following them, like in her world.
Then she came up with a new one.
"Pink... girl." Ononoki's eyes seemed to go a little rounder. Wait. Once she looked at Madoka the way everyone else saw her, she wasn't that pink at all. But Ononoki had already said it. Would what she saw count as an aberration? Still making no effort to take the bubble gum off her face, she blinked at Madoka and tilted her head to one side so that her turquoise pigtails fell past her shoulders with gravity.

He blinked his eyes at the bubblegum that remained on her nose, but merely skated his gaze over it and said nothing. "And your name is?" As the girl looked over at Madoka Enjolras nodded in greeting to her, recognizing her from the House, though he didn't know her very well. He didn't recognize the student, but gave him a nod as well. |

Riddle Rosehearts | Living Room | Enjolras, Ononoki and Madoka "Excuse me?" Riddle squinted at Ononoki, trying to decipher her bizarre behavior. 'I said with a posed look'? Why was she speaking as though she belonged in a book? He refrained a sigh as he pulled out a rose embroidered handkerchief, offering to the girl. "Use this to clean your face." He explained before turning his gaze to Enjolras, his eyes widening. He looked so mature and responsible, unlike those other people he interacted with in the House! He was ready to introduce himself, until a certain pink haired girl caught his attention––particularly her school uniform. "You are a student, correct?" Riddle stated as he approached Madoka, his eyes lingering on her crooked bow. Good grief, must everyone here be so disorganized? Shaking his head, he reached out to straighten the bow. "As a representative of the school you attend, you must maintain your appearance no matter what." |

living room | everyone When her eyes locked with Ononoki, Madoka almost made a 'me?' expression at being addressed by a nickname. Enjolras had already asked the girl's name out loud, so rather than repeat, she started, "ah, I'm Madoka--" before stopping when Riddle quite suddenly scolded her. "I'm...sorry?" She stiffened when he reached towards her, but she watched as he fixed her bow and Madoka scuffed a foot. "I-I slept in on accident, I was in a hurry," she offered her excuse in a murmur. She shook her head after a second, feeling like she'd actually been called out by a teacher rather than a boy she didn't even know.
"Anyway!" she wanted to move on from being publicly disciplined like that. "I'm Kaname Madoka." She finally got her introduction out all the way, and as her usual manners she held out a hand. |

It was probably a bad idea to give Ononoki anything and expect her to use it the way it was intended. It was a bad idea to give her anything at all. Without explaining to this confused Riddle the way she spoke, Ononoki slathered the gum all over her face with that handkerchief, instead of using it to rid herself of the gum as she should have. Now her face and hair were full of sticky green mess.
Without missing a beat, she turned back to Enjolras. "Yotsugi Ononoki," she introduced. "You're kind of boring, Redman," she said, starting off on the right foot by insulting him. There was a chance she would get out of it easily enough though, considering she was a kid.
She was quietly trying to figure out Madoka, but made little progress. Eventually she turned for the hallway and started walking. Does it need to be said that yes, the gum was still a mess on her face?

Enjolras briefly narrowed his eyes as the student he didn't know reached out for Madoka, though once his actions showed themselves to be merely rude, not overtly threatening, Enjolras settled on merely a sharp look. "And I don't believe I caught your name." Enjolras said to Riddle. He was distracted by the nickname-giver smearing gum all over her face. The House... was never dull, was it? And after introducing herself, Ononoki immediately called him boring. He wasn't particularly offended, but the whole demeanor of the other blinker sort of threw him off. "Um." "Wait- has someone explained the House to you? It's dangerous to go in rooms alone!" Enjolras called after Ononoki as she left. |

"You slept in? That's no good," Riddle scolded, before a small smile formed on his lips once he straightened the ribbon. "There we go," He murmured before backing away to admire his handiwork. Perfect, now she looked like a model student! Well, maybe except for her hair, but that could be dealt with later.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Kaname," He answered and shook her hand. "My name is Riddle Rosehearts." He told her and Enjolras with a polite nod. Before he could tell them all about his position at Night Ravens College, his attention was seized once more by Ononoki, whose face was still slathered in gum.
"Stop right there!" He barked, "Do you not know how to clean yourself?! Good grief, I should have cleaned your face for you!"

Steve | Living Room | Everyone
Steve blinked into the living room still injured, bruised, but the bleeding ha practically stopped. He'd been wearing the same green sweater, denim jeans, and his red checkered nikes that were scuffed. Dread filled his chest not expecting to see the house for the millionth time today. His surprised look wasn't helped by the fact he was unfortunately surrounded by strangers. Admittedly he knew the revolutionary which he couldn't say for the other blinkers that were present in the moment. To Enjolras, he greeted with a respectful nod. Seeing these many people was becoming normal in the living room even if their hair was pretty weird. The teen had seen better days, as did his natural colored hair when given proper attention. His gaze met that of the glassy eyed Ononoki and the bright eyed Madoka. The young student was facing another young man similar in age judging by looks alone. Steve by all means wanted to blink out when he saw Riddle for the first time in a long time. A mercy had it been the house leaved him alone to see what the hell had been going on in the Byers house once and for all. Regardless of mercy, he needed to be honest with himself just this once. "Hey," He greeted the rest of blinkers. In an odd way it was like talking to the unwanted cousins he never had. Forced but polite, his charisma drained from an embarrassing beat down. That is until, the girl with yellow galoshes walked right out of the conversation. "Can she even do that?" His eyes glanced to Ononoki, away from the rest of the unlikely group. He may not have been the brightest out of any of them at this given moment, even he knew to keep himself away from rooms. He didn't need to voice his concern granted he had Riddle of all people standing right next to him to figure that out. |

living room | everyone So strict! Madoka had already been prepping herself amidst the teasing of friends to be lectured in class, but in the house of all places? While her 'secret' life wasn't a secret here, somehow she felt like her witch hunting reason still wouldn't satisfy Riddle, so she just dutifully nodded as he finished straightening her uniform. Her eyes did brighten back up at the accepted handshake and she smiled politely. "It's nice to meet you, too!"
As both Enjolras and Riddle fixated back on Ononoki as she took charge into the hallway, and with a bit of a laugh at the normal antics of the house, Madoka's attention was drawn to another older teen who was very nonchalantly offering a simple hi while looking like he'd just been beaten to hell and back. She didn't know him at all, but her instincts kicked in as a worried look passed over her face. Forgoing all introductions and greetings, Madoka went straight to asking "ah, hey, are you okay?" |

The Heartslabyul prefect asked, his concerned gaze inspecting the young man's battered appearance. |

Well. The one he was pretty sure he needed to bring was Rue. Pity it wasn't for responsibility purposes. He just thought she was cool. Vincent wasn't wrong about Myrnin tailing him. Though whether he expected the vampire to flounce after him with a comeback half out of his mouth was another matter. "What if y - oh what the heck, I've used that one before." Very literally half of it. He seemed to lose interest, face shifting expression on such a small dime that it was like one Myrnin had blinked in on top of the other. (But seriously 'what if you're the one I want' was something he'd used before. Ish. There wasn't anyone around to hear it though, so what was the point?) Myrnin completely veered off, ignoring Vincent, and tapped Rue on the shoulder. "Come on. We're following Vice into the hallway. You're my buddy on this school vacation. Should we paste a 'kick me' sign to the back of Teacher Vice's shirt when he isn't looking, do you think?" |

The look that Arthur shot Vincent was clearly one made to look like he'd grown two heads. He felt like he had. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Arthur asked, trying to keep his voice even without getting angry. He was a bit confused by the stupidly phrased sentence. He turned away and kept moving. He didn't need Vincent for this. (Whoops, short. X'D ) Vincent leaned back slightly with a raised eyebrow, smiling at the strained response he’d gotten. “Am I...welcome to join you?” He clarified carefully, giving pause as if he were choosing his words gingerly. There was certainly something different about this blinker, or perhaps he had just become incredibly stressed since they’d last spoke. Either way, he was far more entertaining in this state. "Do what you like!" Arthur said over his shoulder, eyeing Vincent very briefly. There wasn't a lot to be said about the inappropriately stiff blond other than the fact that he was the only one around. Sadly, that made him the only pick for whatever was going on here. Arthur supposed that even a gruff man like him was possibly going to produce some sort of insight. "What do you think about ...?" asked Arthur, only nodding toward the hallway and the doors that he could see lining it by way of explanation. |

Myrnin was right. Elaborate was a decent word for it. Some might even say insane, foolish, downright stupid…Kel smiled. Myrnin seemed the type to appreciate the strange genius of a plan that seemed destined to fail, if he was reading the vampire correctly. And he was pretty sure he was. “That would certainly be a start.” He agreed, and his smile turned a shade more mischievous. “The thing about legends is that they’re rarely completely true, and that they were often something else first. Remember, immortal and unkillable...that’s what people say. They call him a god. I won’t.” He nodded, pleased with the misdirection bit. “That’s the plan.” He agreed a little more seriously, his face taking on an intense light. “We’re thieves, Myrnin, my crew and I. Damn good ones, too. There’s a rebellion, of course there is, but they’ve accomplished nothing in thousands of years, and we can do it. We can succeed where they failed, because we’re small, we know how to pull off a heist, and they’ll never see us coming.” He took a breath, and the intense look about him faded a bit as he considered the vampire, then the vampire’s next question. It was a good one. The answer was probably not expected. “Yes.” He said slowly, facing Myrnin. The small smile that hovered against his lips was different than his previous expression, if only in its intensity. “But first, tell me one thing. What do you think of the House? I don’t mean a specific room. I don’t even mean your theory, although I’d be interested in that, too. I mean, what do you think of it as a whole?” |

Scuff marks. Struggle. Fight or victim? Sherlock paused, one gloved hand brushing the wall, as he read the evidence. “Naturally.” He said without looking up. He crouched. “Ash.” He announced, not looking over at his new companion. “Struggle, more than two people. Traces of blood, look at the walls, the floor, the evidence for it is everywhere.” He took out his magnifying glass and looked closer. There was evidence here. Lots of it. |

"Yes, but something doesn't add up," she said energetically, standing up and ramming her back against the wall, bouncing herself off it to propel herself to the other end of the room. "The blood and the scuff marks don't fit together, the puzzle doesn't match - there was a struggle, but not a fight?" Bricks. Arrangement is odd. Pattern??? She waved her hand, erasing that line of thought for now. "What kind of struggle isn't a fight? Climbing? Pushing? Crawling?" Scraping marks? But from what?

“Yes, yes!” Sherlock exclaimed, excited as she voiced the conclusion he’d just come to as well. “They weren’t fighting, not each other.” Something missing. He stepped towards the wall again, running his fingers along it, his bright blue eyes scanning and taking in everything, everything, everything - “Escaping.” He sound aloud as it clicked, and the turned to her, thrilled by the thought. “They weren’t fighting each other because they weren’t their enemy. Look at what isn’t there. Look at where it is, do you see?” He walked forward and stood dead center of the room. “Nothing here, do you see? No blood, no marks, barely any ash, it’s like no one stood here, why?” He paced back to the wall. “Unless...Ah.” He turned, almost frantic in his excitement. “Do you see?” He asked once again. |

Ash piled against the walls...center unused...scuff marks... "That's right!" she said, turning with renewed interest to the walls. "The walls, the walls - they were trying to escape, from - fire, fire. The ash. Some of them didn't succeed. Perhaps all......no.....these marks are specific, they knew they could get out this way or they wouldn't have wasted their time digging to the point of blood. So what gave them the hint..." She paused suddenly, narrowing her eyes at the tiniest thing etched in the brick right across from her. A vertical line. Pointing....down? No, nothing down. Up...? Slowly, she raised her head to the ceiling, and there, etched very subtly into the circular brick pattern, if you were very clever, you could see that there was a puzzle. Information, waiting to be gathered.

Sherlock smiled, pleased as she understood what he was saying almost immediately. “Precisely.” He paced, searching for something, anything there, anything he was missing...there had to be something, his new companion was correct. Desperation could explain it, but he didn’t think that was what this was, there had to be a reason, there was - Then she looked up, and so did he. At first, he saw nothing. He strode over and joined her, pushing himself close enough to see what it was she was looking at...and then he saw it. “Clever, House, very clever.” He said, and turned back to the wall, looking. “Fire, yes, but where did it come from? Did they bring it with them? Are we at the scene of a crime? No, that doesn’t add up, there most be something else....” He pressed his hands to his head, thinking, thinking. “Aha!” He said suddenly, dropping his hands again. |

Sherlock | Mystery room | ®Hawkpath® |Sherlock temporarily switched to ignoring Sherlock, transfixed by the puzzle that had apparently been set for them. "Shut up, I need to think," she said bluntly, grabbing his shoulder and shoving him into the wall to get him away from her. The lines were clearly there for a reason - they were too uniform to be accidental or just a decorative pattern - too perfect, too..... Mathematical. They were numbers. Numbers, but under what coding system...no books in this room, so not page numbers....no. No. Brick numbers. But not yet. It was all deconstructed - where did it begin? She began to walk in a circle, her head tilted up to stare at the ceiling, trying to see the puzzle from every angle. One. Seven. Fourteen. The information was all there, all in her head - she just had to figure out how to put it together. What was the key? Where was it hidden? The puzzle was missing its proverbial decoder ring...but where was it? What was it?

Sherlock stumbled as he was pushed, but he barely noticed, so focused was he on the ceiling now. He spun slowly in place, taking it in, all of it.....it was huge. He too began to walk, slightly faster than she was, his step aided by the knowledge he had of the House. He should probably mention that he suspected they would both be incinerated if they didn’t solve it soon, but he didn’t bother. She was smart, she’d figure it out eventually, one way or another. He began to mutter, numbers, formulas, everything. He could see it, he could see it in front of him, and he needed to sort it, and there was something, something missing, Ceiling. Floor? He looked down. He was in the middle of the room again, where there was no ash, where no one had burned to a crisp...where they had missed something. They had made the mistake of thinking visually, as he had. The way out had to make sense, right? A physical door, and where else but the walls? In their common sense, they had failed. It was a good thing Sherlock had never had much of that. He didn’t know her name, he thought with a twinge of frustration. Then again, he suspected she would notice if he did something.... Too bad he didn’t have any of those nice chemicals on him. That would have been nice, He knelt and brushed his hand over the stone. Dust. And something else. “Of course. Of course.” He muttered. “Obvious.” It was right there. The key. And as much as he appreciated another genius, he had found it first. “Three.” He said out loud, as casually as if he’d been inquiring about the weather instead of saving both their lives. |

Having been turned about half an hour ago meant that Rue was still trying to get used to the fact that she could hear the heartbeats of everyone in the room, not to mention smell them. The guy with blood on his face made her hungry, but she ignored it in favor of Vincent and Myrnin. She blinked in surprise as Myrnin left her side and went after Vincent, and she looked between the two of them, suddenly appraising. She was definitely missing something. She would almost have thought...but that seemed…. What? She shook her head slightly. Maybe she’d ask later, for now, everything was far too distracting, even the feeling of her clothes against her skin, which she had never noticed before, at least not like this. She stayed quiet. Probably best not to call attention to herself if she could help it. Then suddenly Myrnin was back and she looked up at him, startled from her thoughts. So the man’s name was Vice. Sounded like the name of a Career to her, but she could hardly judge someone based on what they were called, now could she? Especially not in the House. She smiled. She couldn’t help it. She’d just been through a huge, completely life changing, possibly traumatic experience, she’d been killed, she’d lost her claim to the title of human, she’d fallen out with one of the only friends she had, and she was tired. But mostly, she found she was grateful that Myrnin wasn’t being awkward around her now. “Are you sure that’s the sign you wanted to give him?” She asked, the mischievous expression on her face all too clear as she tilted her head to look at him. She didn’t elaborate. |

Vincent gave Myrnin a quizzical look as the vampire stumbled over his thoughts, his expression softening as the other blinker abandoned his efforts all together and walked away. He had no idea what Myrnin had been trying to say, though he doubted it had any importance.
The blond leaned against the hallway’s doorframe as he watched Myrnin grab Rue from across the living room, his pale eyes lingering on them momentarily as they spoke. He wasn’t surprised that she was who Myrnin cornered first, considering how the two had been speaking together, but her peculiar first impression had him curious. He rolled his eyes towards the hallway, seeing that Myrnin was taking his damn time with conversation out of earshot, which was probably intentional.

Hook’s gaze had already shifted towards the hallway when Nico spoke, the other blinker’s voice snapping him out of his hesitant silence. “I’d hope to hell not,” he declared, turning his chin to Nico as he spoke. The pirate’s expression was difficult to read, though he seemed earnest in his keenness to get moving.
He stepped backwards a couple paces, lazily contemplating the situation before decisively turning his back to Nico and committing to the hallway. His steps were heavy and flat, very different to the brisk stride he’d blinked in with; although similar in having a deliberate pace. “You leavin’ that thing?” He asked over his shoulder, gesturing back to the object the other blinker had flung to the ground with his hook, glancing back briefly to see the teen’s reaction. Nico had been quick to toss it away, but the flash of magic from it was enough for the pirate to wonder if it was something the boy would regret leaving behind.

“Never want to see it again if I can help it,” Nico replied, shrugging. “I’ll need it when I blink back, but no need to lug it around here.” He watched Hook carefully for a few moments, keeping one eye on the hook and the other on the hallway. He had to admit, he was sort of itching to do a room. Even if they did have a tendency to be dangerous, at least there were usually some feeling of satisfaction when they managed to get out. Usually. If there wasn’t… hey, at least the House didn’t seem to have lasting consequences to the same extent that the real world did. “You wanna pick the door?” He asked, glancing up at Hook. They all felt the same to him, just like they usually did. He mentally shuffled through all of the rooms he had done lately. He hoped they had to fight something (so long as it wasn’t each other) – he really needed a good excuse to blow off some steam. To think about something other than how quickly things might go south in just seconds as soon as he blinked back. |

| Enjolras | Living Room | As Ononoki wandered off and Madoka turned her attention towards Steve, Enjolras took in the sight of the bruised teenager. At first he'd thought Steve had gotten beat up a bit in the random tile room, but it seemed clear now that something was going on in his world. With Riddle and Madoka asking after Steve, Enjolras glanced over towards the hallway again, thinking that, if possible, the group should probably head towards the hallway soon to follow after her. She seemed like a newbie, and he was loathe to think about what would happen if she went into a potentially dangerous room alone. |

Orpheus frowned, looking at Λ’s wrapped feet for a moment. If he was the cause of Λ’s lack of deductive reasoning, he would feel very guilty about that. Still, he would rather Λ not be able to think than not be alive at all. That seemed like the trade off here. Or… wait, he hadn’t wrapped the feet because it would kill Λ, but because he had thought the cold would hurt. The cold had hurt, so was he really that wrong? Was it better to think or to not feel that much pain? Considering Orpheus himself was having a rather difficult time thinking, he thought it didn’t really matter. He was still hurting and unable to think. “Yes,” he murmured in response, “it makes sense that you’re always right.” He smiled, curling a little tighter against Λ as though he could concentrate their combined heat into a smaller area and somehow make it even warmer. “Still… shoes can be warm.” He wasn’t going to debate the merits of shoes right now. He didn’t care enough, and it didn’t bother him if Λ didn’t want to wear them. Besides, right now, it seemed like he was right. Orpheus’ feet were beginning to warm up now that they weren’t constrained by the sopping wet socks. He felt Λ relax against him, and though he was fairly certain that was a big deal, he couldn’t quite place why. Still, it was nice. It added to the warmth. He could feel Λ’s shivers subsiding, and that was how he knew that his own were as well. It had been so cold in that room. If he had known how to make a fire, maybe he would have tried. They didn’t have anything to burn, though, unless they wanted to make the House angry by burning its books. Would that make the House angry? Didn’t it deserve to feel angry after what it had done? He shook the thought away. Even in his compromised state, he knew that picking a fight with the House was not his brightest idea. He didn’t even know how to fight. He was still going to make it even, he would… was it even if they both felt safe now? If they were both getting warmer in spite of what the House had decided to put them through? Orpheus decided to count this as his first victory. “Why would people call you cold?” Orpheus asked, his voice perhaps a little sharper than he meant it to be. “You aren’t cold.” He knew there were two versions of the word, he knew they had slightly different meanings, but he couldn’t quite imagine Λ as either. Λ was nice, both definitions of that word. Not cold, and cold was a very bad thing to be. He let Λ’s words tear him out of his untethered thoughts. He gave a small smile, still running his fingers through Λ’s hair. Was this what friendship felt like? Warm, like something you could just sink into? Orpheus wondered why he hadn’t ever pursued it before. He liked Λ. He liked this feeling, now that they weren’t cold. He didn’t even mind the deep ache in his fingers. He opened his mouth to respond, possibly to say that Λ was nice for perhaps the fiftieth time, but he blinked out before he could manage it. |
