The leap fell short. Daud's aim was good - but it wasn't fast enough to catch a vampire who was blurring - particularly if Daud wasn't up to aiming for a vampire going that fast. With that speed any vampire could easily avoided the shot or maybe even catch it. The difference? Myrnin had timed the leap. No one who hunted as a species would have made such a gross misjudgment of length. Not unless he'd been aiming to fall short of Daud this whole time. The whole attack had been to provoke him to shoot. The crossbow bolt found its mark in an vampire who was already moving in a different direction, Myrnin timing how he pushed off from the banister as the bolt connected with his chest. That was another thing ... It was clear from the bolt placement that he'd had a similar intention of where it would land. It was planted squarely where a human heart would be. The trajectory of Myrnin's fall jerked a bit as his body suddenly lost graceful intent and was instead replaced completely with the tug of gravity. L's assumption of where he would land was as wrong as Shade's. It would have been correct if Myrnin had intended to fall straight downward. But instead, before he had lost complete touch with the world, he had aimed his jump for the stage. He had missed Shade's transformation - or maybe he had caught only the beginning of it - it was impossible to tell because of how he had done it all. There was certainly no predicting what he had intended - or rather where he had intended. Not until he had actually fallen. His body connected with the stage, and out rang several cracks of bones breaking along with the impact of a couple boards splintering but not outright breaking. The crossbow bolt stayed in by some twist of fate, though part of the shaft splintered as Myrnin's body bounced and skidded (leaving traces of blood behind) before colliding at a fair clip into Vincent. Myrnin had almost landed on top of the man, though if anyone was good at quick mathematics they would have known that he'd originally intended to land in front of him instead of actually running into him. Basic laws of trajectory were fine and dandy if the vampire was still cognitive to complete the swan dive. His body at a stand-still now, the damage could be assessed. Multiple breaks in multiple places (somehow, he'd managed to keep his head, despite what Shade had said and maybe he'd intended to break his neck, but who knew with him). That hadn't stopped him from bleeding from the wound in his chest around the bolt. It had slowed almost at once, like he didn't have enough blood in his body to actually bleed out. One arm was twisted, much like L's was, while several ribs may have been shattered along with who knew how many fractures, and he might have broken his nose as well. It was bleeding a bit too. Nothing healed. Usually, it was possible to see the subtle signs of Myrnin healing. The slight twitch of a muscle under his arms as the bones attempted to adjust back into position or the slow healing of torn flesh. But there was nothing. Myrnin's eyes were wide and he looked straight ahead, unseeing. The color red seemed to have bled out of his very eyes and down one cheek - but that was just a pretty metaphor for the fact that maybe L's words (or his own) had gotten to him. Maybe. Maybe not. There was a slight complication to asking him. He didn't move. Which really just proved the outcome of what half the people in the room thought would happen ...

(Dropping this here as a bit of a test pfft. It's free for anyone to pick up.)
The ruined world was quiet, save for the echo of the wind as it blew through the hollow shells of buildings that had long been abandoned. A few of them still vaguely resembled the skeletons of skyscrapers, but the ones that hadn't been impaled by the giant, Thorn-like protrusions sprouting from the ground had either fallen from damage or were on the verge of it.
Hidden amidst the ruins on the cracked streets below was a small, otherworldly white tree, standing out against the bleak world around it like a beacon. It's branches were dotted with red, tear shaped objects that grew from it like fruit, although these were definitely no such thing. If anything, they resembled beautiful glass ornaments, each holding a sizable amount of red fluid within.
The clearing the tree sat in was empty, with no other living beings in sight around it. All was quiet. Until the sound of bare feet quietly tapping against the concrete ground broke the silence.
A female figure slowly emerged from an ally between two nearby buildings, heading straight for the tree with cautious steps. If there had been any onlookers, she would have stuck out just as much the the object she was making her way towards. She was clad in a pure white overcoat that hung down to her ankles, which was heavily decorated with white bird feathers. She was almost barefoot, with only a pair of long black stockings covering her feet. Her long hair also shared the same shade as her outfit, it's length ending just past her knees. A small bit at the top was done up in a silver barrette, while the rest of her snow colored locks hung free, until they ended in a braid in the last third of their length. All this lack of color contrasted with her skin tone, which was quite tan.
A few steps later, she stopped at the tree's base, casting a quick look around her to make sure she was still alone. Confident that was the case, the woman took one last step closer and reached up with a gloved hand to gently pluck one of the strange red vessels off of a branch. Instantly after taking the thing, her cautious demeanor melted away for one of relief as she let out a contented sigh.
Good, she wouldn't be going hungry today.
She turned back away to check the area once again, then lifted the red bead up to her face. A pair of fangs extended from her mouth as she hungerly bit into the top of the 'fruit', tilting her head back as she started drinking it's contents, her eyes closed in relaxation.
While she was distracted with her meal, the very city around her suddenly morphed into a small living room. Despite her attention being previously absorbed by what she was doing, the young woman's eyes snapped open in alarm as the air around her fell still. The red bead fell from her hands and landed with a soft 'clink' on the floor, as she quickly got into a defensive position, her panicked gaze shooting around the room in confusion.
Now widened like those of a deer in headlights, it was revealed her eyes were totally inhuman, their sclera completely black. The pupils were a bright shade of blue and not only that, they were actively glowing, although this was an effect of her getting at the ready to defend herself. "W-whatever is going on and whoever is there, please! I-I don't mean any harm!" She called. Her voice held a noticeable quiver, the fear behind it quite apparent.

Vincent eyed Shade for a long moment, expression blank. “Do you think that, or did you just feel like asking?” He asked back. His conversation with Shade had no means being long lived, evidently, for she was gone from his side in a sudden instant. As for himself, he fell back several feet when all the chaos broke out, watching with a baffled expression that held a twisted mix of exhilaration. His eyes moved restlessly to track how quickly things were transgressing - alert, as he was determined not to miss anything important. The inhuman speed of nearly every creature involved in the forming brew was either mesmerizing or terrifying to watch, but either way, the man had not looked away. He raised his eyebrows as the sound of cracking bone filled the theater, holding his breath for a moment so he could hear the sound of agony to tremble from the mortal L’s lips. Then, in just a span of several confusing seconds, Myrnin was falling from the ceiling where he - only just a moment ago - had jumped up towards. Myrnin was falling fast. And close. And far too fast. With a sharp suck of air Vincent prepared for a collision, though he still looked surprised when he suddenly found himself on the ground. He wheezed briefly, as if waiting for Myrnin to get off him. He was remarkably patient, waiting nearly a whole two seconds before maneuvering uncomfortably fo move the corpse away. His palm planted itself against the vampire’s shoulder and pushed, aiming to roll him over, but instead the limb just sunk awkwardly against the pressure. He made a face before trying again, this time managing to roll the body off him just enough to scramble away. He seemed startled, but excited nonetheless. He tilted his head back slightly, still sitting next to the body at the distance he’d created himself for some safety. His gaze found Enjolras, who he met with a This is thrilling, type look on his face.

L | Murder and Mayhem | Everyone L was probably only vaguely aware of Enjolras by his side. His attention was clearly elsewhere, his whole body pointed at where he expected Myrnin to fall. He’d misjudged. A thin groan escaped him as Myrnin plummeted towards Vincent, and he turned, shoving roughly past Enjolras in order to get to him. The Frenchmen was right. L seemed to be going into shock, although he didn’t seem to intend to let it stop him. The room was a blur of confusion now, but he made it to the vampire’s side at the same moment Vincent managed to get up. “Get away from him.” He snapped, glaring at the man as though it had been his doing, somehow. Then he kneeled by Myrnin and began to assess the situation. “Not good” was the conclusion he seemed to reach. He looked up, dark eyes flashing as they followed Touka’s bright kagune through the air, and then landed on Daud. His expression darkened. “He’s not dead.” He said it quietly, almost as though he were talking to no one but himself. He reached forward and began to feel Myrnin for broken bones, which turned out to be...a lot. Not the neck, thankfully. He blinked suddenly, and looked up, staring at the spot Myrnin had fallen from. Then back down at the vampire for a split second before it was up again, and something in his face seemed to shift. His eyes found Touka. There was obviously no reaching her, but L looked like he might try before he looked back down at Myrnin and didn’t move again. Whatever his feelings towards the vampire, he resembled a dog told to protect a child now.

Spinel watched once more, her eyes round as the man shot Myrnin, and promptly disappeared himself. It seemed more likely to her that the other man was injured- that he poofed. And yet, she saw him appear near the stairs a moment later, and then into the booths. Did he do it, then? Was he 'it'? She glanced down at the new body on the floor, before joining the others down there. "Is he dead?" She questioned, the last word unfamiliar on her tongue. Even if she knew what it meant beforehand, she would've never had any reason to use it. Truth be told, this place was kind of scaring her. She wanted Pink. Where was Pink? If she was here, she would make everything better. She would heal the two, and stop all the chaos. She would say Spinel had won the game, even though she'd moved just a little. She would bring her back to the Garden, where everything was safe and she was used to it all, and they would play a fun game, one that didn't involve death and poofing and getting hurt... Where was Pink? Where was her best friend?

Small Myrnin | Pogo Stick Room | striderThe small boy didn't notice the slightly unusual phrasing of how Noah had put things about the pogo stick race he had supposedly participated in. He just took things as they were said and started to try and balance on the small stick again. Noah was right. He was picking it up a lot faster than an adult would. He was happily making it between two and four hops now without falling off. After less than a couple minutes, he was lasting closer to seven and seemed much more confident about game. "Wanna race now?" he asked between hops, his mop of hair bouncing around his head now as he grinned at Noah. "I'm gonna win." That's what he'd said about their other games, but you had to admire his persistence.

Touka | M&M Room | everyone but mostly IceclawTouka stopped dead as he vanished, turning a skid into an about-face as she spun on her heel, wide eyes scanning the darkness and locating him again almost immediately. How she was tracking him so effectively was somewhat unclear, but she seemed to be having no trouble following his blinks, and within seconds, she took off again, leaping straight into the air and grabbing the railing of the spectator booths. She swung herself over and aimed a kick at his approximate location, eyes narrowed in concentration.

Touka | M&M Room | Yeah still daud |
Touka landed hard, planting her feet as the assassin disappeared out from underneath her. As Daud’s sword brushed the air around her kagune, triggering her sense of where it was, she spun around in the blink of an eye, letting the sword hit one of the tendrils of her kagune. It shattered on impact, all the way down to the blade, showering the two of them with broken bits of metal as another wisp of the strange organ, hardened into a deadly sharp blade, found its way to his throat.
“Move a muscle and you’re dead,” she said, inhuman eyes flashing with the seriousness of her intent as she stared up at him. “Understand?”

"Yeah, it can be hard to tell time around here- impossible really. I mean, to me, you started blinking about a month ago, but stopped blinking ten years ago when I was eleven..." Arlo trailed off and shook her head, letting out a sort of nervous laugh at the ridiculousness of it. It was a bit worrying, really... a week to her may have been years to other blinkers. Some of them might not even be there anymore. Had she asked Kaito how long it had been since she'd told him about the plane? Even if she had she wouldn't know how long it had been to the others though, it was pretty different for everyone... She would have to deal with that when the time came. There was nothing she could do about it. "Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?"
At Arthur's question she returned her focus to the room and it's odd contents. "Well... considering the equipment and ingredients we've been given, I have a feeling it involves making a potion or something. What that potion or something would be for... I have no idea."

Shade | M&M Room | Kinda everyone but mostly Cloverleaf I think Shade watched Myrnin plummet in what seemed to be slow motion- several meters away. Dread displayed itself clearing over her features and she prepared herself to whip around and still try to catch him, only to hesitate and shudder as she heard him collide with the floor. Everyone else was faster getting to him first, and for a long time, she just stared at them clustering around her (literally) fallen friend. Shaking her head hard, she braced herself against the chairs then launched off of them again, bounding over the rows and back onto the stage until she was skidding over to the clustered group, transforming back as she slid to a stop. She looked at L for a long moment, then at Enjolras as he checked for a pulse. She had a fleeting moment of amusement and chuckled, weak and breathy. "Enjolras, my friend... I don't think..." she shook her head, still smiling vaguely. "He'll be fine, I think... He just needs a few minutes," she said, mostly to the Frenchmen, but also to the creepy lanky kid and the weird handsy blond guy, since they also seemed to be worried... The loud racket behind her caused her to whip her head around, watching Touka attack Daud for only a few fast seconds before it seemed to go deathly quiet. Her ears pricked up and she strained to listen, then jumping as Daud's voice rang out loud and clear in the big open room. "This is not how you solve murder," she mumbled, her face stuck in a very hard frown. Still, in her eyes you could see a nervous glint of uncertainty.

Touka | M&M Room | everyone but mostly daud |
Touka stood very, very still, watching him closely as he began to speak, his words not seeming to register even though they should have. It was as if she was looking through him, not at him - barely even paying attention to the man she had at knife point.
And then, she narrowed her eyes, and her kagune pressed ever so slightly more against his throat, searing the skin a little but not breaking it. Her face broke into a wide smile, frightening when it was up against her red-black eyes.
“You’re right,” she said, very quietly. “Congratulations. You just solved a murder.”
Then, she leapt back, landing about three feet in front of the assassin, and raised her kagune, preparing to strike.

Will | Hallway | <Raintalon> “Right,” Will replied, shaking his head. There really was no way to choose wisely, that was sort of the point. “But sometimes you get instinctual reactions about which one’s going to be good, and which one’s going to be bad, and I’m told that it doesn’t hurt to listen to those.” The truth was he didn’t know if the House worked like that. He had never chosen to go into a room of his own accord, at least not that he could remember. Maybe once or twice, but that was near the beginning, and it had always been with friends. He had mostly just been blinked into rooms that he hadn’t chosen to go into, and a fair number of them hadn’t been too much fun. He just had to hope this one would be different. “You still get to choose which door you go through,” he pointed out. “And maybe they all feel the same to you, I don’t know, but you have to pick off of some basis, so you might as well…” he trailed off, the point getting away from him. It had more just been a figure of speech he had thrown out there rather than a direct order for how Mei should pick. And now it seemed that he was just making a fool of himself. Mei | Hallway | strider |Mei started at him blankly as he rambled on, growing more and more confused as he tried to explain what he’d said to her. Eventually, he stopped talking, even though he hadn’t finished his sentence. She wasn’t really sure what that meant, but at the very least, he seemed to be done trying to explain whatever point he’d had. “That doesn’t make any sense,” she said flatly, but the blunt tone was distilled by the slightest hint of amusement that flickered across her face as she spoke. “Thank you for trying to explain, though. I suppose this entire place defies explanation.” Then, she turned back to the door, and more resolutely this time, placed her hand on the handle and turned it, letting the door swing open. A very strange feeling swept over her as she did, and she stepped back so quickly she almost tripped, recoiling as a horrible, icy feeling swept up her spine, making the hair at the base of her neck stand on end. ”It’s...empty...” she said simply, visible eye wide with surprise. “Cold. It feels like there’s nothing on the other side at all.”

Daud | M&M Room | Touka, Enjolras, everyone
Shock slammed across Daud's face at Touka's words. Whatever he had been expecting, that hadn't even been on his list. The shock was quickly replaced by alarm as she lunged back, preparing to finish him off. Daud launched himself off the balcony, plummeting quickly toward the ground before he transversed to the stage. He landed clumsily, just barely catching himself to stop a fall before he streaked toward the crowd gathered around Myrnin, his burning gaze focused on one person.
Daud slammed into Enjolras at full speed, hauling the man away from the crowd before spinning them around to face everyone, but Touka in particular. His arm wrapped around Enjolras's neck in a chokehold that was just tight enough to make Enjolras struggle to breathe. His other arm rested on the Frenchman's shoulder, the sharp tip of the bolt pointed just behind Enjolras's ear.
Daud's breath came in quiet but rough rasps as he stared Touka down, daring her to make a move.

(ougi / pogo room)
Ougi blinked into the Paradox House. "If you think that, maybe you truly are a fool..." she was murmuring, and her slitted eyes grew larger when her accomplice vanished from her presence. Instead there was a small sea of... pogo sticks. Her head whipped over her shoulder once, then twice when it went the other way. When she determined no other blinkers were around, the student was allowed to focus on her new company. "Oh my, you've done it again." She was speaking directly to the Paradox House of course. No, it was more like she was speaking to the House, through the pogo sticks. She had knelt beside the nearest one and was acknowledging it like a sane person might acknowledge a puppy. "What secrets might you hold, that they are released in such cryptic and teasing manners?" she murmured, almost as if reciting poetry.

(ougi / pogo room) Ougi perked up when another blinker entered the scene. Her knees, which were covered in tights, came together and she balanced herself surprisingly well in her crouching position. "Oh, hello." She tilted her head at him and let her short black hair sway seamlessly to one side. She was searching her memory but couldn't be sure if she knew this person, especially with the mask over his face. "And who might you be?" She directed the courtesy at him, but her stare kept returning to the pogo stick beside her. It was almost as if he had stumbled upon a scandalous scene, the way she was surreptitiously leaning toward the ground to murmur to the object. But to seem less crazy for a moment, she uprighted herself and threw her hands behind her back, clasping them through her pink school uniform. Her skirt fell back into its strangely perfect shape as usual and her chin went up with dignity. "I was just... well, I was investigating to see if these things had any special markings. Things in these rooms sometimes do."

Touka | M&M Room | @ everyone but daud and enj mostly |
Touka skidded to a dead stop, eyes flying wide open as Daud leapt on Enj, taking him hostage with deadly accuracy before she could even begin to approach them. She was frozen now, feet planted to the floor, not moving a muscle as her gaze traveled first to Enj, then to Daud’s weapon, then to his face.
Then, her kagune abruptly hardened, the shifting flames freezing solid into hundreds of spikes, all of them drawn back and ready to fling at the assassin. Her eyes were narrowed and cold, and when she spoke, her voice was careful. Measured.
“If I throw these, you won’t have time to dodge them. There’s enough of them that both you and that blinker you just took hostage will both die. I’m not particularly attached to him, so I don’t really care if that happens, but I’d really rather you weren’t breathing long enough to sic everyone in this room on me.” She lowered her voice a little. “After all, I already killed that other one. I can do one more. But everyone here...? Well, that would just be a pain.”
Her eyes left Daud just for a moment and traveled around the room, and she shook her head a little, seeming to be irritated by something. “Well. Think fast. I won’t sit around forever.”

Vincent hadn’t lifted himself off the floor, choosing to watch the scene from his place on the ground. He’d isolated himself according to his limited space, sliding back slightly further when L and the others ran to analyze Myrnin’s corpse. He was staring at Touka and Daud, giving the vampire’s corpse little attention while the two creatures fought. The whole time he watched with wide eyes and a crooked grin, his index finger resting against his lips and his thumb beneath his chin, like he was thinking. He cocked his head slightly as Enjolras was suddenly ripped away from his spot by the body, his pale eyes narrowing on Daud carefully. His gaze flicked towards Touka when she spoke, tongue pressed to the bottom of his teeth through his smile. If anyone were to spare him a glance, he shook his head ever so slightly, amused gaze not leaving the standoff.

Everything was happening too fast. One second, Enjolras was feeling for a pulse, and L was opening his mouth to chide him for being so foolish as to believe he might find one. And then Daud was there and Enjolras wasn’t, and Touka was there and she was saying horrible, horrible things and looking like she meant them. L didn’t move. He was staring at Touka, eyes wide, but not quite hurt as he searched her face. Something seemed to click in the pale detective’s expression, and he turned away, shaking his head and looking Daud in the eye. “She’s right.” He whispered, and there was real pain in his voice. He was still trembling, badly, but his arm hung forgotten at his side. “I didn’t think she was capable of this, but...I’ll tell you. She’s a murderer in her own world.” He closed his eyes, swaying slightly. “Don’t. Don’t let her kill anyone else. We’ve solved the murder, the room is going to end shortly if we can all stay alive that long.”

Not that anything had ever been fine, but in an instant, it was so, so much further from fine than it had been. It was written plainly on the faces of the audience Touka and Daud had accumulated. Shade was grinning at Enjolras, looking slightly more relaxed until he completely disappeared from her side and immediately she whipped around, going from sitting to a braced stance in a heartbeat. But, seeing the situation clearly for what it was, she went rigid. Her eyes hardened as she stared at Daud, then at Touka, then briefly at L and Myrnin. While she was thinking, she stepped backward a few paces to stand protectively over the two injured men. Amidst the chaos, she thought to look at Vincent, but only to roll her eyes slightly as she saw him standing there, grinning like he was watching an epic murder mystery off of Netflix. Looking over her shoulder at L, she frowned. "Have we really solved it? We haven't even looked at any of the evidence, and who's to know if she isn't lying?" she pointed out quietly, tone even. As he trembled her gaze lingered, looking him over, then turning back to the drama bomb in front of them. "This could very well be a distraction tactic or a..." Silence. She looked at Touka and stared at her. Looking at her for all she was right there, then at Daud as he held poor goddamn Enjolras. (Can y'all just spare him, please? He doesn't need this bs.) "We are so *!cked." A disapproving mumble, almost too low for anyone to hear. She took another step back to her fallen friend and his. other friend? Yeah.

Touka | M&M Room | @ everyone but mostly Iceclaw and Cloverleaf |Touka held her position for another few moments. Watching. Waiting. The seconds seemed to tick by almost audibly as she and Daud faced off, with poor Enj gradually suffocating in the middle. And then, abruptly, she raised her hands to her head and pressed them against her ears, letting out a shout of frustration before she finally stood up straight, kagune first liquefying and then evaporating into thin air as she dropped out of her attack position. “Fine. Just...fine, okay? You got me. Good job. Just...let him go, I’m done.” She raised her hands to the air, gaze leaving Daud to travel around the room in general. “Hey! House! You deaf or something? I said I’m done! We solved the f(oops)ing murder already! Let’s move!”

L watched, his eyes flicking between the two of them as they faced off, and every once in a while he would glance back at Myrnin’s body on the floor behind him. He seemed to be thinking, hard. As the room didn’t end, he began to back away, eyeing Daud as though he expected the other man to lunge at him. Which wouldn’t have been an unreasonable fear, under the circumstances. When Touka’s kagune vanished, he moved, and he was at Myrnin’s side in an instant. He grabbed the stake with both hands and yanked it out as hard as he could, then stumbled back, the weapon held tight in one hand as he stared at the vampire. “Everyone stay back!” He ordered, his voice rising to a shout.

The vampire rolled over almost at once, gasping for air - and then in pain. Then he said, "God damn it, House! I jumped off a rafter and nooooo … that doesn't count! You couldn't have just taken it? Perfectly staged. Just call it a night and me the murderer. But noooooo. That isn't good enough. You just wanna see me do it again! And I broke four ribs!" He coughed several times, a few small specks of blood pooling at the corner of his mouth, and then squinted up at the ceiling. His eyes shifted around before he attempted to use his good arm to sit up. He was apparently not looking around at what had actually been happening, because he just started mumbling in L's direction, "Good job, detective. You caught the murderer. Suppose this damn room needs a confession too. Well, I did it -" He cut himself off, finally grimacing and sitting up. The hole in his chest was bleeding and he gasped enough from the pain that his fangs snapped down. He looked around, eyes hungry, but then they shifted to just plain shock. "How long was I out?" he said, sounding annoyed but, since Touka seemed to have stood down, not outright angry. He looked at her then, eyes narrowed. Then he flopped back to the floor and groaned. Not with pain, but frustration. (Though pain was probably in there too.) "Well, Ghoul Girl," he said. "We're in a pickle. At least both of us know one thing …" He covered his eyes with his good hand as the round orbs turned red. He winced as he brushed against his still broken nose. " Neither of us did it. And we've been making fools out of each other." He squinted up ceiling. Then he sighed. "Give the note to Letter Boy. I promise you ... I didn't kill Joey. And neither did you." He turned his head so he was looking at L. "Can you guess what happened?" The pupils in his eyes expanded and he trembled a bit. He covered his eyes again and muttered into his hand. "Oh God ... I need blood."
