Cloverleaf Auransky zeph!(Dia reminded me to reply to the Monster room. Have my boring reply. At this point, someone else would probably need to take control because Kid has OPINIONS and they will not change.) The muscles in Kid's jaw had progressively gotten tighter as he listened to yet more details on the views of everyone. Nothing conducive. No proof. He didn't even have solid first hand accounts. None of one side had actually seen the doctor do anything. All that had happened was they were talking about a ... a ... friend of a friend situation. Words in Bibles, "someone said they saw"s, and whatever else. But the other side was just as useless. Second hand notes the green-yellow eyed man had, and the doctor just seemed resigned. The largest problem was he could not begin to tell who was right. His breath was hot and raspy in his throat. Someone was going to die. Could he stop it? The choices were impossible. The answers weren't enough. And truthfully he did not enjoy the attitude of the 'prosecution'. It was stubborn. There wasn't a large chance, but maybe he could stall until this game started over. "And how do you know who they are?" he asked, raising a hand covered in bandages to point toward the yellow-green eyed man.

“Oh,” Morrigan looked faintly surprised. “Alright.” She paused, this time actually thinking about what she was going to say. She had been extremely close to revealing something she shouldn’t, and was now feeling extremely cautious as a result. When she started, it was slowly and more thought-out. “Jupiter and I live in the Hotel Deucalion. It’s the best hotel in the city, and is magic all on it’s own. “The smoking parlor, for example. Instead of a place where you smoke, brightly colored fog comes out the walls. The smoke can be anything from peppermint to strawberries-and-cream. “The bedrooms are amazing too- they shape to your personality, moods, and interests. I have this octopus chair in my room that enfolds over you while you’re reading, and-“ She caught herself early this time, before going on. “Then, there’s other random rooms, like the Rain Room, and the Hall of Shadows-“ She frowned slightly at the latter. “-that one wasn’t great. Your shadow comes to life and tries to scare you... Fun for a while, but then it becomes too terrifying.” Morrigan paused again, thinking of what to say. She hesitantly began speaking, aware that this was once again straying into a more restricted topic. “The only place that can compare is the Proudfoot House. It’s where the Wundrous Society is based. It has five stories aboveground, nine below, it’s own station, and even weather. We call it Wunsoc weather; everything in it’s gates is a bit more. More sunny and hot in the summer, but also more cold and bleak in the winter. “Anyways, each subterranean floor has different classes and resources. Five are dedicated to the Mundane Arts, like dragon riding and politics. Then, two are for the Arcane Arts, which are more of the magical ones. “Then, two are for basic accommodations and dining.” She hesitated one last time, and gave a small shrug. “I don’t know what else to say, I guess. What about your worlds?” (Yeah :3) ~∂єѕтιиу and Shadepelt15

Ougi stifled a chuckle at this point. He was embellishing it, sure, but... "Sorry, I must have misheard you. Oh, what a terrible thing for me to have done." She smiled as she said this, "I thought you had said you don't agree with me. But you haven't exactly gone against it. The only difference is that you're attempting to akin such an existence with your current one. It is something that can't be described using the words 'thinking' and 'feeling'. 'Different' is so vast of an understatement that it almost sounds like 'similar'." The vagrant said this as though she had been to this existence and back, as though she had been born from a void and been conscious all along the way. As if this were the case, and she drew too close to speaking of it, she reared back and drew her hands under the table in her recoil. She twiddled her thumbs together in restraint from grabbing at his poetry once again. She wanted to rebuke the way he interpreted her comment on mirrors. She hadn't at all thought about it in the sense of looking at oneself. But if she brought that up, she would easily reveal her level of investment in the topic. The dark color of her eyes made it look like two marbles dropping, and swooping to one side as she directed her gaze away. Can the aberration of a mirror be what is beautiful in it? Where had she heard that word? Aberration? The girl's shoulders began to rise as she thought she felt eyes on her. "I think we can make the world beautiful. We can change it, can't we?" There was a twinge of fatigue, and malice in her voice. It was the voice of someone who had lost their home.

Hook shot Shade a cross look, seeing her move her head away from him out of corner of his eye. The sight of her smile, however, caused him to dismiss the act, and he focused back on his work with the brush. He listened in as Shade encouraged the girl on, cocking his head curiously at her words. It was impossible to fake...no...it was impossible that Shade would fake such friendly intrigue. Despite her character, it was still fascinating to see how she interacted with others - just the fact that it all came so genuine and easy to her. He was far from loathsome of such a trait, but his partner’s way with words was quite the enjoyable spectacle. While Morrigan spoke of her world the pirate gave a minimal reaction to the mentioning of flavored smoke. The concept was not found on his realm of origin, but he’d encountered it on various planes. The rest of her world sounded like hellish rooms that could be found within the House, again, no place he’d like to visit. The man swirled his brush around the colorful powder for a moment longer than necessary, allowing the exchange between the two to come a pause. “Not much really.” He answered Morrigan’s prompt flatly. When Shade addressed him his bored expression melted into an instant grin. “No, close your eyes,” he answered her question simply, lifting up his hand. “Be patient,” he added smugly, smirking still. It was obvious for the newbie where his interest lied between the two blinkers sharing the space with him, as he had yet to turn around and face the new girl for an introduction. His dark gaze had lifted only to eye her through the mirror, his face a scowl until Shade stole his attention back. Perhaps he was annoyed to have company besides his singular friend; or perhaps the look of frustration on his face was just natural for him. ( zeph! (AAA IM THE WORST SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG) Vincent chuckled, seeming to have grasped an accurate mental image. His eyebrows raised as the conversation was turned towards himself, flattered to seize the opportunity but not quick to let his guard down. While he spoke, his hand movements were elegant and minimal; relying on his facial expressions to be bold and expressive as the reach of his body movements were strictly monitored. As flamboyant as the performer portrayed himself, he remained skillfully collected amongst the busy tavern. “I’m a performer myself!” He explained, pleased with the answer. “I’d noticed that the steps you took to get inside seemed measured,” he noted in further explanation, nodding towards the entrance. “But I suppose a sense of rhythm isn’t the only thing that can carry someone across a tavern floor,” He mused dryly - distracted as he eyed the others in the Inn. “Perhaps the means of avoiding those floor cracks created an illusion of grace - apologies.” He didn’t sound remorseful, as his words came out quite flat. A trickle of taunting amusement lingered in his smile, absentmindedly toying with the man before him. <Raintalon>

zeph! ®Hawkpath®(I .... may have mentally replied instead of actually replied. Sorry both of you. x.x ) It took a second for Kid to really get his barrings once he saw the drift of the outlines on the other side of the sheet of glass. Taking a breath and leaning away from the window, he said to Sherlock and Morrigan, "I'm not sure if they can see us or even know we're here. Sherlock's ... interesting way of cleaning would have caused a bit of attention otherwise." Recently he had been able to see what the detective was doing as he cleaned and it was not exactly what Kid had expected. Apparently, Sherlock wasn't used to the more practical side of simple tasks like house maintenance. And wasn't familiar with movies. "We could try," Kid said allowed, supposing it couldn't hurt. Directing his attention back at the window, Kid took a breath, and then said in a loud voice, "Hello! Can any of you hear me?" His voice rose at an end. There was no reaction from the shadows behind the window. For a second, he though a shadow had turned enough to address him, but instead it turned further and pushed a fellow shadow. Hard. Kid stiffened. Was the House about escalate?

After a moment, he turned back to his drink, taking another sip before turning back to his new friend. “So, a performer, huh?” he said, peering at him from behind his cup. “What’s that like? Do you just dance, or do you do other stuff, too? I’ve never met somebody with that job before.”

Raizal was making an origami crane, with colorful decrotative paper. The man’s scarlet eyes focused intensely on each careful fold that he initiated on the bright and vibrant color. The paper was small, hence the small crane, but his enhanced vision would more then suffice. And so he folded and carefully pulled the tabs, as he built the paper crane. A soft smile came to his face as the crane small enough to sit in his palm had been completed. He blinked, and in that second he literally blinked into the living room, but his senses were entirely focused on the crane itself. He thrusted his arm outwards, showing the crane off to his audience of one, Frankenstein. And yet, there was no one-he too was gone. Had Raizel taken too long to make the the crane that even his servant, his best friend, the closest person left too ? He looked at the crane then looked around the room, a slight frown on his face as it still didn’t click that he blinked into the living room. living room - Raizel mintedstar/fur

With a huff of what sounded almost like displaced air, Arthur appeared in the House. A hand was braced against his chin as he muttered, "Are you really that unconcerned about Samuel or are you just trying not to draw attention to him?" He blinked then, at the surrounding room, and the fact that he wasn't talking ... well ... he hadn't been talking to anyone. Just himself. Because no one else was going to hear him. Unless he was here, apparently. He was a bit surprised when he saw someone he recognized someone this time, however. Head jerking, Arthur found Raizel's eyes, surprised. "You still blink in?" he asked, the surprise making it's way into his voice. He'd had no idea how long it had been for the people of the House since he had been here.

Your world sounds absolutely fascinating! I love the thought of a bedroom that caters to the inhabitants feelings and desires," she said, absolutely enthralled with the concept. Not just of the rooms, but all of the things Morrigan had described. Absolutely amazing, The question regarding their own worlds and Hooks answer made her snort, then she snorted again when he denied her access to a mirror. "Oh fine..." Closing her eyes again, she hummed thoughtfully, then chuckled and spoke again; "He greatly underplays the magnificence of his world, really. If you've any sort of legends or fairy tales in your world, thats essentially what his is. A magic, very dramatic and fantastical book brought to life. Obviously a book in which hes the main character, and the best of the lot of them." Opening one yee, she grinned at him cheekily, then closed it again. "My world isn't particularly exciting, its one of a few Earths, similar in kind to some of the other blinkers' worlds. Although, I will say that theres a sort of magic underworld. A black market, mythical crime bosses... It gets pretty crazy in that regard, but most of the normal-living humans don't see it much, its all very secret," she said, sighing softly. "Which is unfortunate, theres a lot of really incredible things people can do." ~∂єѕтιиу zeph! ))

Raizel’s expression shifted from disappointed, to a mixture between off guard and embarrassed. Despite his intended audience of one not being present, it was both a pleasant revival, and well appreciated company of Arthur that brought back a soft smile to the man. He slowly nodded, as he retracted his hand back, but still held the paper crane in his palm. It was clicking, at least the realization that he had blinked in. So much for always being on guard-but then again, when it came to human interactions, even more human activities, who wouldn’t get distracted with such tiny yet colorful interactions. “It’s a pleasure to see you Arthur..” He politely addressed the other individual. It was a pleasure to make his acquaintance once more. “More or less I still find myself here, but if my absence has been noted, I truly do apologize for my rude absence.” He addressed something that probably didn’t need any addressing. He couldn’t help but glimpse at the crane. While he was excited that someone saw his completed work, he kinda wished it was Frankenstein who had seen it first. The man did take the time to provide the books, the least Raizel could have done was show him the completed work first. “I take it things are fair on your end?” He was a bit curious about the other individual and his other companion.

"No, no," said Arthur, in an attempt at lightness. "I've been away for a bit too." It was the best way he had to describe it. It wasn't like he'd really not been around, but time had lapsed here when it hadn't. Though how Arthur understood time was slightly ... odd. He glanced at the paper crane instead, for something to look at, and seemed slightly relieved when he could come up with a question for Raizel. "What's that?" His imagination wasn't exactly in tune with the idea that the piece of paper had been folded into that of a crane. Raizel's own question was slightly surprising only because - while expected - it didn't come with an actual answer. "They fair well enough," he answered, tipping his head. Was that true? He couldn't say. "What about you? Have you been doing well?"

He watched the other man speak, there was relief in his eyes to see familiarity. And to hear that the other’s were fairing well-er Myrnin more specifically, that was a wonderful reassurance. His scarlet eyes glimpsed at the crane, and then slightly at his surroundings. when asked about the crane, Raizel almost dropped the colorful paper crane. He reassured his grip by slightly leaning out forward to rebalance himself. “This is a paper crane.” He began, excitement beaming from his relaxed body posture. “I found another classmate with one on his desk, and I wanted to learn how to do it too.” He added, moving the crane in his palm sideways. “Frankenstein, my friend, he collected books for me to attempt it myself.” He then hovered his free hand behind his ear and pulled out a paper ninja star. “I was going to surprise Frankenstein with this.” He held a black paper ninja star within his fingers. “I noticed the books have other designs I could make too.” He smiled softly.
He paused briefly, admiring the colorful paper crane. Next he spoke up, “I have been fairing myself. I hit a situation in my life recently that I was certain would take my life.” He turned his head slightly away. “At least it should have.” A smile returned to his face. “I cannot explain it, but it seems fate wished otherwise.”

“I see,” Vincent agreed, nodding in understanding. “You demonstrated excellent balance, I’m sure you’ll be safe.” The man sounded very genuine in his reassurance, but his eyes were sharp as he watched for any signs of a façade. It would be a clever stunt if Matt was trying to hustle him, but in the back of his mind, he was decently confident that the man saw his peculiar words as true. It seemed like the poor bastard’s situation should’ve been sad...but instead it was just amusing to him. He dipped his head into a small nod at the question, pausing to let Matt speak at full length before answering. Questions about the details of his job were puzzling to place simple responses for, but there was no hesitation in the confident man’s though process. The lad was probably innocent enough - more importantly - he was too broke to be implying anything beyond the direct interpretation of his words. The prompt about work outside his dancing performance was doubtfully out of interest to submit a payment. “I do as I’m paid,” he answered with a smile, “but usually I stick to dancing. I conform my art for the city I find myself in, and for the folk paying.” His necklace knocked softly against the countertop from where it hung on his neck. His blue eyes had yet to move from Matt’s face, his gaze bored. <Raintalon>

Arthur had actually said nothing about Myrnin - Raizel's question about Arthur's well-being had been too vague for Arthur to consider (or want to consider) the fact that he might have also included the vampire in the situation. But Rai had interpreted it one way and Arthur another, both unaware of how things were for each other. That was, if not alright, then at least interesting. Then again, Myrnin was, as far as Arthur could tell as an observer, well. He studied the paper crafts that Raizel had made, suddenly impressed now that he actually knew what he was looking at. "I see!" he said, more interested in the throwing star than in the crane. "So like an artist." He could at least understand that concept. Arthur didn't noticeably stiffen at Raizel's words, but something about his body grew tight. Yeah ... fate ... ha ha. "I'm glad you are okay," he said, honestly meaning that. "So the situation is better now? What was so worrying?"

Lyre heard the hesitation in Kelsier’s voice, but perhaps it was just because he had never heard of the instrument. It seemed that music in Kelsier’s world was probably quite different - perhaps an indication that this was the real Kelsier? He couldn’t tell for sure, but there was no follow up question, so Lyre shrugged and went along with it. Calliope was more focused on the choice of names by both Kelsiers. It seemed both wanted Mare, although who that was remained a mystery. Obviously Mare was to Kelsier as Hermes was to Orpheus… he had heard the accusation one of the Kelsier’s had made to the other. Mare had been the one to die in whatever room Kelsier was in. Just as Hermes had been the one to die in Orpheus’. “Mare and Spook,” he repeated after a moment. Suddenly, Lyre frowned, the expression surprising Calliope. Slowly, the man spoke. “We have names for each other now, so I can refer to… to you,” he stuttered, glancing over at Calliope, “As Calliope, but how do I know which Kelsier is speaking if you both have the same voice?” Unless they all just said their code name whenever they finished speaking, but how then did you know that they were telling the truth. Although if fake Kelsier used the wrong code name, Lyre was almost sure that the real Kelsier would call him out. He knew he would call out Calliope if he did the same thing. At least if Calliope started to refer to himself as Lyre, Lyre would know that he was the real Orpheus. Why else would the House try to steal the nickname? Calliope had no such doubt in his mind, though he was aware that Lyre raised a good question. “I… I’m scared the House has all of the information we would know, and we don’t know each other well enough anyway to know, I don’t know how we figure this out,” he admitted. “Maybe we ask questions? Try to find a gap in what the other person knows?” Spook wasn’t entirely sure what strategy was behind each name, but he knew there had to be one, intentional or not. For him, the name he’d chosen was one he knew the real Orpheus had no knowledge of, and that the House did. Any different between Orpheus and the House was a good thing, right? It was something that could be used to tell the, apart. So maybe, they weren’t looking for something they knew that the House didn’t. Maybe it was the other way around. “Always another secret.” He murmured to himself, and grinned at Mare, who smiled back with the same devious expression. “We could say who’s speaking. It’s Mare right now.” Mare suggested. He didn’t see any reason why Spook wouldn’t try and steal his codename when it was the one they both wanted, but if he did, wouldn’t that prove he was the fake? Unless Orpheus believed him of course, but Mare wouldn’t let that happen. Mare had to know something the House didn’t, something so deep and emotional and personal that the House couldn’t touch it. “Okay. It’s still Mare.” He agreed cautiously, then froze, his eyes widening a little as Spook shook his head. “It’s Spook now. I think we should ask questions, but I don’t think there’s going to be anything we know that the House doesn’t.” He called, louder over the lack in his voice. He was gonna have a killer sore throat when all this was over.... ”rememberers that room I told you about, with me and the other blinker? The House knew exactly what to ask us to make us reveal our deepest secrets. I think the House probably knows what we’re thinking before we even say it out loud, which means as soon as we think of a question, we give away the answer. To the House.” Mare frowned, and Spook smiled back, stepping towards the glass as his opposite took a step back. “But You two, Lyre and Calliope. Whichever one of you is real doesn’t know me that well. So whichever one of you is real can’t mess up and say something I haven’t told you yet, right?”

Raizel nodded, casually waving the ninja star back and forth. “The books Frankenstein got for me have many more things.” He lightly put the crane on the top of his head. “The books if I recall, show various kinds of weapons, utensils, and many other animals.” He spoke, and kept the crane on his head well balanced despite it being paper. “This is a form of art that humans find well amusing, and well worth their time. It appears to bring peace to others.” He turned his head towards the right, trying to recall something. “I have seen these paper crafts used for memorials, shrines, and funerals.” He recalled now. “Humans get very invested with this sort of art.” He smiled softly.
“It’s even more reassuring to know that we can happily engage in such curious art, knowing that the world is no longer in danger from nuclear warheads.” With his free hand he jerked it forward to pull out a paper key from his sleeve. When the paper made key slid out, he grabbed it with his fingers, then flipped it outwards to show Arthur. His face turned shyly red. “I made more paper crafts to show Frankenstein.” He really couldn’t resist sharing these crafts with the man who too seem fascinated with the concept. “In a way this art is my way of showing appreciation to everyone who has and continues to stand by my side. The bomb, or the two shot at the same time would have obliterated the massive population. We were too late to stop them from launching, so we-“ He paused, pulling out a paper craft from his coat pocket. This one was a blue colored paper shaped in the head of a wolf. “My friend Muzaka too stood by myself to catch the weapon of mass destruction.” He moved the wolf head paper over to the same hand holding the ninja star. “If we physically stop these weapons, they would still explode and destroy everything within its reach.” His gaze softened as his head tilted downwards. The crane slowly slid off his head, but he caught it with his free hand. “We made the weapon implode, and I created a field using what I know-“ He stopped himself, slightly shaking his head. “At least I thought I knew, that was the end of my life. Unlike myself, my friend was almost new, as if the first day we had met, whereas I was on my final string.” He reflected on the paper crafts on his palm. “And yet, after a while-I woke up.Some time had passed, but I was fine, at least it appears so.”

Arthur hadn't ever heard such things before. Paper crafts either weren't common with what he was familiar with or he had just never seen them. He watched with interest the paper crane, more because Raizel was balancing it so effectively on his head rather than because of what Raizel was saying. Though he was interested. He certainly didn't know what a nuclear warhead was. He stared at Rai blankly before slowly asking, "I see." He didn't. The description that Raizel gave he could grasp - at least in parts. Something dangerous would explode and Raizel and a friend had stopped it. That was good. He wasn't sure whether Raizel knew completely what that meant. "And your friend is ...?" he questioned, slightly doubtfully. Raizel had implied he was older - more experienced with things like death and destruction stopping. His friend might not have been. Either way ... "I'm glad you're okay." He meant that too. "What are you going to do next?"

You’re good Mint! mintedstar/fur zeph!)) Sherlock huffed a bit at that. His method of cleaning wasn’t that strange, and it worked, didn’t it? What, was there some correct way of cleaning windows he wasn’t aware of? He got over it fast when Kid called to the shapes, his bright blue eyes instantly focused on them as he waited for a response. For a moment he though they’d been heard, but- “Something’s happening.” He said sharply, his fingernails moving over the dirt on the windows as he tried to get a better look. He was close to being able to see fairly clearly, and more and more it was looking like something they were supposed to see, not touch, He wasn’t sure he was going to be alright with that, but he needed to see what was going on to find out. “There has to be a better way to clean these.” He called to the others, his frustration perfectly clear even without being able to see his face. He stepped back and glanced around in case he’d missed anything that could speed things up, but all the tools looked about as useful as the one in his hand. He scowled, and swung as hard as he could. Bang. He hit the window hard enough for a large piece of the filth caked on it to come free and shatter on the floor at his feet. The detective let out a low, victorious laugh and peered through the hole he’d made, mentally congratulating himself at the same time. “Never mind, I’ve worked it out. You two getting along all right?”

Raizel’s scarlet eyes glimpsed at the paper key, star, crane, and wolf head in his palm. “Humans are fascinating.” He happily shared. “Indeed they too have guilt driving moments, as do we but no matter how much time passes, I still find myself very fond of them.” He was almost tempted to throw the ninja star across the room. He had seen children do it at the park, but he refrained from doing so.
Raizel’s has softened as he took a moment to reflect on his closest friend. The one individual who would come visit him, and later force him out of his dwelling. “My friend, Muzaka.” He softly spoke. “He is a werewolf, the leader of his pack in fact. A strong, headfirst man who is not afraid to disagree with me.” He blushed, quickly moving his free hand in a fist over his mouth.” He coughed, gracefully closing his eyes to recompose himself. There was a smile on his face, which he tried to keep at a minimum, but talking about Muzaka always brought relief to him, even now more then ever. “He took on this bomb with me. We risked our lives to save the people. Unlike him, I was and still continue to die. On his end, he had science. Unknowingly to us both, an organization found his remains, and rehabilitated him. They brought him back from the dead, and to a newer and much stronger capacity.” He paused, head head tilting down, and his eyes skimming the paper crafts in his other hand.. His scarlet eyes eyed the wolf head. He reflected on his friend’s supposed death, and the shock of his revival. He further omitted a few notable details, such as why his friend was in remains, let alone the dispute that lead to it.
He returned the paper crane to the top of his head, then proceeded to balance it, and mentally reminded himself not to tilt his head. “He is leading his pack, by spending the majority of his time with me.” He couldn’t help but lightly chuckle at the thought of his friend skipping out on responsibilities, as per usual. But that’s exactly what he wanted-things to return to as they were, or at least similarly. “We are exploring the human world , engaging with people, and the different cultures. Though Muzaka thinks I should discontinue my studies, I intend to keep studying at school to further learn about the modern world.” He happily shared his future engagements.

So whichever one of you is real can’t mess up and say something I haven’t told you yet, right?” Both young men were getting the feeling that Kelsier was more cunning than he had originally let on. Unless Spook was the House and he was trying to create an inaccurate depiction of the other man. Spook was right… neither Orpheus knew Kelsier well enough to know for certain. Lyre frowned. It was odd, being at the receiving end of a friend’s suspicion. There really was no way to know for sure which was the House yet… and how did he know that what he did know about Kelsier was something he had found out through Kelsier? How did he know that the memories in his head weren’t just planted there. “I promised we would find a way to balance out the House,” Calliope murmured, something almost broken in his voice. “I promised L that, and the House was listening, but how can we fight against it when it knows enough about us to create almost an exact replica? Oh… it’s Calliope.” “Lyre now. We don’t know that the House doesn’t have a perfect memory,” Lyre added, shaking his head. He couldn’t look at Calliope, couldn’t see that hopelessness in his own eyes when he had his own world to get back to and he had a hell of a lot to do in that world once they knew for sure which man was which. “I’ll try, but there’s no guarantee that the House is even capable of giving something away…” Calliope shuddered at the strain in Spook’s voice - he needed to make it abundantly obvious to Kelsier - whichever was the real Kelsier - that he was the real Orpheus, otherwise Kelsier was going to continue losing his voice. All four of them now were trying to shout over a difference in volume that they were all too stubborn to admit to. He looked over at Lyre, something tearing at his heart when he noticed the flash of panic that crossed the other man’s face, the way he seemed resigned to the fact that this room wouldn’t work. It was so… human… it had to be a trick, right? “I’m afraid,” Lyre admitted, staring at the ground and swallowing hard. It was as though the words had been difficult to push out. “I’m afraid two of us are deluded.” Calliope shook his head, but he couldn’t shake Lyre’s words - or perhaps his own word’s or the House’s, whoever Lyre was - from his mind. This challenge would be all the more difficult if Lyre was right. He had thought the real blinkers needed to convince each other of their truth. Perhaps the real fight would be to convince themselves. He kept the thought to himself for now, instead choosing to push forward. “Calliope again. What’s your first question?”

Outside, the entire village was cloaked in the darkness of night. Lanterns hung from the eaves of the Inn, spilling golden light across the ground, but beyond the candles' flickering touch lay shadows ripe with dangerous promises of the unknown threat lurking out of sight.
The last person to enter the Inn had done so long before, but now there was suddenly a presence on the other side of the large oaken door. The locks rattled as something feebly scrambled against the solid wood planks, trying in earnest to gain entry but lacking the strength to do so. "Please." A voice quavered, either with age or weakness, it was impossible to tell. The sound barely rose above the hubbub of the packed tavern, but perhaps it was just loud enough to gain the attention of someone close by...

Neither man exactly considered himself cunning. At least, he didn’t think of it that way. He did think he was smart, but that was because he had evidence for it, and there was no use in ignoring it, right? Which Orpheus was real? Mare frowned, turning it over in his head. How were they supposed to tell? As much as he hated to admit it, his double was right; they didn’t know each other well enough to be able to guess something the House wouldn’t be able to replicate convincingly enough. His head hurt. For the first time, doubt seeped into him...he had to assume he was the real Kelsier. He had to assume that much, or where could he start from to figure out which Orpheus was real? He had to start somewhere. No, he had to be real. So Spook has to be the fake. All he had to figure out was which Kelsier was right. Spook nodded, even though the only one who could see it was himself. He didn’t know who L was, but he had to guess it was someone else in the House his new friend had met. It didn’t matter. Calliope was right, how could they fight something as powerful as the House? “Hope.” Spook answered his own silent question softly, watching Mare as the other version began to pace. “Whichever Orpheus is real; we can do this. It’s not impossible to beat this room, all right? We just need to figure a way out, and I think we can both do that. It’s Spook, by the way.” Mare didn’t stop pacing, and he didn’t take his eyes off Spook. What was he doing? If he was trying to trip the House up with that speech, he was doing a poor job. Maybe he thought parroting things the real Kelsier might say would get him picked faster? “It’s Mare.” He spoke up, and Spook’s eyes met his. “There’s no guarantee that we can beat this room, but we don’t need one. There has to be something about the fake versions that’s off, something the House can’t replicate, right? If we can find that, we can guess right.” “It’s Spook again. I actually agree with myself.” Spook managed a smile, and he even managed to halfway mean it. “And I think you’re right. I know I believe I’m the real Kelsier, and I believe Mare does, too. So probably both of you believe it too.” Mare interrupted, stopping his pacing abruptly. “Mare again. I just thought of something, how do we know...we aren’t both real?” His voice cracked a little on the last word, so he tried again. “I mean, the House can blink in different real versions of the same blinker, right? What if it just blinked us in...twice?”

Madeline had wandered back to the door, and was currently leaning against the door, trying to get her thoughts together while she waited for the innkeeper. She stiffened at the noise, lifting herself upright and eying the door. One hand creeped to her bag, where it took out a reddish-pink vial. She gripped it in that hand as she unlocked the door slowly and swung it open. She studied the person there without a word, the vial still tight in her hand.

Enjolras in the Monster Room
Enjolras watched the proceedings carefully, or as carefully as he could as everyone's heightened pulses roared in his ears. He did not speak, sharp blue eyes watching the whole process scathingly. There was no way to parse out what was the truth. Every person- the group of five, the doctor, the mysterious guide- all had their own agendas and vindications to work through. Any action on their part would not be justice. It was too much- too extreme, too violent. There was no logic or justice to be found here. He would not choose for them. He would not kill for them.
"I will have no part in your injustice. There's no logic to be found here, only frantic and impassioned half truths and conjecture." Enjolras spoke. He'd gotten so caught up in the situation that he'd nearly forgotten that it was the House that had put them up to this. He would not be forced to play judge, jury, and executioner here for its amusement. This was not his fight. If it ever came to that in his own world, he would surely condemn himself along with whoever he might have to condemn. But here, unlike his own world, he could step away. "It is your actions that have brought you here, not ours. I will not do your dirty work for you."

zeph! ®Hawkpath® Cloverleaf <Raintalon> Iceclaw Lark »ƑαƖcσηAmico had gotten distracted halfway through. The adults were looking shifty. They clearly wanted his parents. And his parents were probably looking for him. And his sister. Sure, he loved them an all ... but he couldn't just stay there. He didn't want to sleep. That meant nightmares and he couldn't deal with that. So he looked at Kelsier and then Hector ... And then bolted for Madeline. Not the door. He wanted that to be clear. He was not bolting to exit the building. Instead, he ran straight into the side of Madeline's leg and grabbed at her clothing. " Don't go outside!" he said in a shrill voice that carried all around the small inn. Then his eyes found the dark edges of the door and what lay beyond, and he squeaked and squeezed himself behind Madeline like he was familiar with her.

It was hard to remember a time when Arthur couldn't have understood what it meant to be something other than human. The fact he was listening to Raizel talk about interacting with humans and learning about them because he wasn't one. There was a part of Arthur that still felt it was odd and weird and made him slightly uncomfortable, but that was the same part which liked to pretend that he was and had been in the category of 'non-human' for a long time now. "I see," he said. He was slightly relieved that Raizel's friend was okay ... for a given definition of the word 'okay'. It was all the ghost could do not to wince at the thought of what this Muzaka had gone through. "Why?" he finally asked. "Why do you want to live with and learn from humans? Is it just interest or do you have a goal?" It was an honest question and one that puzzled Arthur. Myrnin seemed to live with humans just because it wasn't so easy to separate the two species of vampires and humans from each other. But for all Raizel had said, it made it sound like being what Rai was (what had he called it? Noble-something?) wasn't something that needed to be in constant contact with humanity. So if it was a choice, why did Raizel make it? Other than the fact that he was more naive than a child and just a bit ditsy.
