(Heeeeeeello! Welcome! Thiiiiiiiiiiis is for yooooooooooooou, CrystalRoseGems!) (I promised you'd meet my children.)Blinking in, Samuel spat out a mouthful of blood. Something which he found very hard to do. His eyes were red pupils in his eyes and his teeth - fangs really - were slightly poking out. It was something like day three of his hunger strike. Which wasn't much of a strike, because people kept trying to be very convincing that he should eat. The fact he was in the House and there was someone already there - who wasn't the few who actually knew what he was - shocked Sam's eyes back to brown. He took a step back, fangs snapping back behind his canines. "Uhhh." Had she seen? Probably. But she'd been looking at the books. Not like the small splash of read wasn't noticable. The boy fidgeted, his spirits plummeting. "Hey," he said after a second. "Not what it looks like." It was exactly what it looked like. But how else was he supposed to get over this? (Edit: Arlo: Yeah. Got any preference of who I use? Me: Ha ha take one twelve year old! XD If you have a preference for who I use, I also have a selection on the joining page. You have Myrnin, who's currently the younger version of himself (because I wanted to RP him as a kiddo), Sammy here, Kid (who, like Arlo, is good at those intros), Maladict (another vampire. You caught me when I was collecting them. Nothing special about him other than he's going to adopt everyone), and the 13th Doctor (who's fun). Up to you!)

Startled, Marinette dropped the book in her hand, and she narrowly avoided hitting her feet. Her eyes widened, and automatically pulled her arms up in defense. With the flick of her wrist, she twirled her yoyo till it was a blur in front of her- an effective barrier between her and the strange boy. Her eyes narrowed. What did he mean "not what is looks like." Was he her kidnapper? Marinette knew logically that he could may as well be in the same position as her, but if her past fighting experiences have taught her anything, is to never assume who is good and bad. Also considering the fact that there was blood everywhere. "Who are you? And where am I?" Marinette asked, her voice clear and free of the fear that pulsed through her veins. She had to concentrate. Fear wouldn't solve this situation. Especially since she was clearly at the disadvantage. She realized he didn't have to answer her question at all- at any point he could be lying to her. But at this point she had no other choice.

Yep, sure!) late post, edited!)
Arlo appeared, leaning against the doorframe like she had been the last few times. The House seemed to like blinking her in there. She hadn't rewrapped her hands since her last blink, so the burnt scraps of fabric from before still clung to them. Busy writing something in her notebook,it took a moment for her to notice the change in her surroundings. Her gaze was first drawn to the blinker wearing bright red with black spots who was looking at books nearby, then flitted over to the other person who appeared to be a young vampire. She couldn't remember seeing either of them before, but as she'd been dead for a year to some blinkers, she figured there were probably quite a few people she hadn't met yet. Though the girl's back was to her, she could guess by her reaction to the empty book and to the vampire that she actually was new. "Hey it's alright, you're in the Paradox House," she said, lowering her book as she walked toward the other two blinkers. "It's a living dimension that has the ability to pull people in from other worlds and times, he didn't bring you here," she paused, waiting to see how the girl would react.

Holding up his hands, Sam took a step back. He didn't know if he was very impressed with the yo-yo, but he was at least impressed at this blinker's desire to keep themself safe and on the defensive. He just wished she didn't have to be like that with him. "I'm Samuel," he said easily, adjusting the color of his overlarge green hoodie and trying to not look where he'd spat. If he ignored that, then he could easily be mistaken for human. Not like this girl would ever see him as that now. "I'm not g-going to hurt you or anyone else." If it was possible for the Latino boy to be more pale than undeath had already made him, he was now even moreso. He looked nervous, very nervous, and almost like he was going to be sick with whatever emotions were swirling around in his eyes. "It's the Paradox House," he said, feeling a bit helpless about introducing a newbie this way. He relaxed greatly when someone who seemed to have actual authority blinked in. Explaining the House on the other end of a spinning yo-yo wasn't the best situation he could face. Glancing at Arlo, then at the new blinker, he couldn't help relaxing. He was still in a room full of strangers, but at least Arlo wasn't looking panicked. "Y-yeah," he agreed with the older blinker. "That's ... a bit more of the advanced introduction people get. Usually we start with 'we come in peace' and 'you'll go home soon so try not to kill anyone while you're here.'" His grin was awkward. Very awkward. Neither of these things had been told to him when he started blinking in, but he kinda wanted to tell this new girl it just so she'd drop the yo-yo.

Auransky HᥲꙆƒꙆɩɠᖾt <Raintalon> Myrnin was in a mood. And that mood was not talking to Elliot because he was made at him. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Hange and tangled up his hands in their coat. "I hit ... everything," he said to Hange more than anyone else. "And I want out of here." He really didn't plan to move from this point onward. He hurt - a lot - and he wasn't sure he could walk without hurting. So either way, there was no reason to continue with trying to follow Elliot's instructions. He just wouldn't. (Short. Whoops. ) (you’re totally good mint!) Hange patted the child, pleased that for once, they’d been thrust into a situation they can deal with. Kids made more sense to them than adults, most of the time. ”There there, that is understandable,” they told him, staying low and allowing him to continue clinging as long as he liked. “But!” they added, gently grasping his arm and turning him so they could see his face and so he could see their smile. “This is another thing I must teach you about being a scientist - a scientist doesn’t give up. Not even if they get scared, or hurt, because they know what they’re doing is important no matter what. And sometimes...” They pulled back their sleeve a little, to reveal a snaking pattern of raised white, an old burn scar, against their skin. “Getting hurt can teach you something. This taught me that titans can generate heat, and as for you...” they gestured around at the room, “You found your way in here, when none of us could.”

</div>Laaaaaate reply whoops Also I just played laser tag for the first time the other day so I’m prepared now NDJDNDJND) ”Here’s hopin’,” agreed Matt, then ducked as he saw the first of the figures run out from behind one of the obstacles. He could hear one more too, and judging by the sound of the footsteps and the estimated distance between the two of them(6.24 meters give or take a decimal), they were working together. ”They’re trying to flush us out,” he hissed to Nico, grinning at the younger boy. “Their mistake. I’ll rush em - you find a way to get onto their turf.” And with that, he jumped out from behind the cover, sprinting in a straight line for the next one. “Hey kids! Catch me if you can!”

“A room filled with only new blinkers?” L’s eyes widened at that. “I’ve never heard of that happening before. It does sound like something the House would do, though. And no, you were not the first, and neither was I. The first that we’re currently aware of was named Arlo, but she died not long ago. I don’t know who the second was.” Right, if this was only his second blink, he needed the talk. Usually new people were good about asking for it, so he’d forgotten that Orpheus hadn’t had anything explained yet. He made a mental note to get back to that before they went in any rooms. “Apollo? There are myths in my universe about a god named that, but I don’t know whether he has anything to do with yours.” The detective glanced down at the guitar, and he found to his surprise that the idea of it being alive wasn’t as inconceivable as it should have been. Then again, he was in the House. “Inconceivable” was a meaningless term here. He let the other man adjust his fingers until they rested on the strings, with barely any force behind them. He was a little worried he’d break it, and if it was alive, wouldn’t that hurt it? Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe- L pressed down gently and strummed a tentative, short-lived C chord. Tentative because he was only sort of pressing and short-lived because he touched the strings again too soon. “Did I do something wrong?” The young man looked at Orpheus again, an anxious shadow in the whites of his wide eyes. “I didn’t want to hurt it. How hard should I press?” "Maybe this place wanted some fresh blood," Orpheus shrugged. "I'm not really sure about what this place is, if I'm being honest. But it is nice to hear that there are others who might have a better grasp of what's going on here," he admitted, grinning somewhat abashedly. L seemed to know a lot more about this place than Orpheus did, and although he knew he would probably be a great source of information, it was a little bit strange to just be presented with so many of the answers to the questions the Hosue, if that was what it was called, had probably wanted all of the new blinkers to figure out on their own. "Yes!" He added, grinning. "Apollo's a god. Of the sun and music and healing, but I think he liked me because of my music. That's why he gave me the guitar. Does that mean that we may be from the same universe?" He had originally assumed that everyone was, but it was quickly becoming evident that such an assumption was invariably wrong. How many universes were there, then? He had always thought there was just the one, though he knew there were different planets within that universe. He turned his attention towards L and the guitar, nodding softly as L strummed the chord. "You can put more force into it. It isn't alive until you feel it is... until the music is rushing through you and it just feels like an extension of yourself. Any instrument is like that. You won't break it, I promise." He placed his fingers over L's, pushing down to the right amount of force. "Careful to let the chord resonate before you touch the strings again with your other hand." “Could be.” L agreed thoughtfully. “It could also be that because I’m not new, the chances of my knowing about a room such as that are lower. Of course it was likely to happen eventually, as it just did, because of meeting someone who tells me about them, but I personally wouldn’t blink into one unless it was a past version of me.” Something he’d wondered about for a long time before it was confirmed by all the child versions of his friends. His eyes widened, surprised to hear that it was in fact his Apollo in question. “Yes, but there’s only a very small chance of that.” He explained. “I don’t think the Apollo I read about really exists, for starters. I also doubt that any of the other gods exist, although it’s true that I have no concrete proof for either of those.” He looked down as he felt the other blinker’s fingers touch his, and watched with hawk-like awe as the chord seemed to travel through him in stead of the instrument. “It’s incredible.” He murmured, and did it again. A smooth C chord. Not as good as Orpheus by a long shot, but he was proud of it so he did it again. “Incredible.”

A man who looked somewhere in his early twenties blinked into the monster room, and immediately became just a shade less...there. He was no longer human temperature, anyway. He spun around, but the street stretched out behind him too, as though nothing else had ever been under his feet. “Celty.....” He murmured, but he didn’t think she could teleport people. Not without her head, anyway, and he was sure he still had the real one. He turned again, and this time his brown eyes found the group of other odd people he’d been unconsciously listening too. “What a fascinating dream.” He continued, coming to the other probably possibly conclusion that came to him. It made sense, he’d probably gotten knocked out or poisoned or something, although the fact that he hadn’t seen it coming and still didn’t know exactly what had happened was so impressive he wanted to meet whoever had done it. Probably explained why his heart wasn’t beating, Just to test it, the human-turned-poltergeist took a literally flying leap into the air and soared gracefully up, until he hovered directly above the crowd. He grinned and flipped over upside down, then snapped his fingers and set a nearby tree on fire. “What a good dream. Hope I wake up soon so I can congratulate whoever got the jump on me.”

“You’ll get some odd looks,” Arno warned in a good natured tone. “At first.” The man who raised him still occasionally got comments from other well-to-do persons about Arno’s habits. Not that Arno particularly cared what they thought of him. He watched Orpheus descend down the side of the building with surprising ease. Maybe the man had had some practice in this after all. Arno reached the edge of the roof and turned to climb down after him, only to feel his arm muscles start to tense of their own accord. “Oh hell.” The clouds shifted overhead and Arno had a flash of realization before he was bathed in silver light. He dug his fingernails into the edge of the roof to keep from falling and gritted his teeth, trying to ride out the pain. Instead, to his alarm, his arms seemed to ripple and change, fingernails becoming claws, hands becoming hairy and disfigured. Then he slipped. Two floors down he hit the pavement on his back, his lungs forced empty by the impact. His shirt and vest were uncomfortably tight, seams straining as his body contorted. However, after what seemed like an eternity, the moon vanished behind another cloud. Arno gasped for breath, stunned but somehow not otherwise injured from the fall. He was quiet for a few moments before sitting up, stray hairs loose around his face. “Orpheus, we really have to get out of this place.” As if that wasn’t already obvious. ( strider and also anyone who wants to have their character standing nearby lol) Orpheus gave a soft chuckle. He could imagine - it appeared that Arno was likely a member of some sort of elite, and having anyone of a higher class just climbing buildings when there was probably "important" work to be done... well, he could imagine his own father having a heart attack about something like that. He kept his thoughts to himself. He hadn't thought about his father in a long time, and he wasn't going to start now. Not because of anything wrong that had happened, but just because that part of his life was behind him. Yet when Orpheus looked back at Arno, he could tell something was happening. Something that appeared frightening, but he wasn't so sure... Arno looked to be in pain, to be changing into something until finally the light no longer touched him and he was okay, as though it had all been some sort of strange, messed up illusion. Orpheus shuddered at the thought. He raced over, holding his breath as he waited to see if Arno was okay. A fall like that probably could have been fatal, but it appeared that Arno was mostly unharmed. "Perhaps we should try to go inside," he suggested, looking at some of the buildings. Some of them were bound to be unlocked, right? There had to be a safe place to go.

It was interesting to him, that L made so much sense and yet thought in a completely different way than he himself did. It made him want to talk more to L, to get a better understanding for how, exactly, he saw the world. It was as though so many options had opened up just by virtue of meeting someone who existed in an entirely different reality from him. "Perhaps not," Orpheus admitted, meeting L's gaze. "But there are Egyptian gods from a long time ago that my people are certain don't exist because they have no proof, and yet... I don't believe that those people were just making up gods. Which leads me to believe that perhaps those gods existed once, so perhaps when my people have faded into obscurity, the memory of Apollo and our other gods will live on, even if the actual gods die with us." It was an interesting theory, but one he hoped he never lived long enough to prove. A smile broke out on his face at the chord. "Exactly!" He grinned, adjusting L's fingers once again. "This is an A chord. There are about 8 chords you need to know to start playing a lot of basic songs. Not that... not that you probably know most of the songs my people sing."

L tilted his head, puzzled and interested at the same time by the hypotheses. That gods were written into stories because they’d once been writers, and humans had decided to remember them. He supposed it was possible in theory, but it would have to be significantly different from the current stories, as they seemed to contradict one another in places. “That’s a fascinating idea.” He said out loud, still chewing on the details. “Sadly, it’s hard to investigate any of that now without becoming an archeologist or someone who studies myths, so I may never know whether that’s the case. But I won’t say it is isn’t possible that we share a universe.” A chord. He played that one too, getting it right in the first try this time. A wide smile broke out over his face. “If you teach me to play this, I can show you some of the songs I know of.” He offered, switching from A to C and back again, with some in between confusion as his fingers found their places. “And you can teach me yours.”

L was right. It was unfortunate to be given the opportunity to speak with someone who believed in such different things, and to have no way of knowing if the ideas such a meeting formed were even close to right. Then again, wasn't poetry just the space in between the known and the unknown? Wasn't it the way one understood the unknown by manipulating the known? It was an in between that Orpheus was comfortable residing in. The lack of certainty about his ideas, or any ideas L presented, wasn't as uncomfortable to him as it probably should have been. "I'm writing a song," Orpheus murmured. "To bring back Spring. If you hear it in your world one day, you'll know we share a universe." He wanted to succeed. He wanted his songs to be sung until civilization itself died out. He knew it was a lofty goal, but what was more precious to humanity than music? His expression - for once, rather intense - softened as the A chord rolled through him. L was a quick learner, that was for certain. "I'd like that. An exchange of songs." He watched L continue to practice when a realization hit him. "Oh! I never asked your name. I'm Orpheus."

His own look of worry, very clear in the eyes of the vampire, flickered light a dying star. While he was here, there was really nothing he could do about getting that coffee he had mentioned. Or there might be, but it might be very, very hard. He'd still run into a bit while he was here. "How have you missed out on the most wonderful drink in existence?" Mal asked, mouth still agape. He almost wished they'd stop talking about it now, because he desperately wanted some. "What do you drink then?" he asked, grudgingly.

Lucian looked down at Duad's hand, watching it pass through his chest as if he wasn't there. He wasn't sure how it was happening, or why, but he figured it might be sort of useful here if he got into a fight there considering how many magic users seemed to be in the area... or did they even have magic? Originally he'd thought so but seeing how he was now transparent and about as solid as air he wasn't so sure. For all he knew their 'magic' was something they'd gained when they'd appeared in this place. "Yeah, I guess so," he replied finally. He was quiet for a few moments, glancing between the groups of people further away. "Do you think any of them have learned anything about this place?" IceclawPeter looked back at Lucian sympathetically, getting the feeling that the man wasn’t too comfortable with his new state. Neat as it was, he figured that was only reasonable. He could remember his own reaction after first being bit, so warming up to the idea of unnatural abilities was a understandably stressful process. At the question he sighed a little, looking out toward the others. “It’s hard to know, everyone seems disoriented, but surely there’s an explanation somewhere. We just need to look around some.” He glanced at Daud, giving a small huff then a nod towards one of the nearest groups. “We need to start somewhere, huh? Let’s go see what everyone’s thinking.” (sorry this is short,, I didn’t really read any recent post before posting oops. I’m not used to having sociable characters

Unfortunate, but thanks to the House, it didn’t apply to them. L felt an unexpected sense of warmth towards the Paradox House, and the opportunity it represented. The friendships he knew he couldn’t manage to forge in his own world, because who would he trust there? Who wouldn’t be put off by the mysterious faceless detective on the other side of a screen? That was the point, if you were a criminal. If you were anything else, it was merely a side effect. He was getting better at switching chords. It felt quite natural to him, the precise movements and the instant reward of the sound in his ears. He was smiling, but he didn’t know it. “I’d like to hear it, if you’re willing.” The detective looked up dark eyes bright with a childish eagerness at the prospect. “I’m never considered guitar as something I would enjoy, but here you are, from a different universe or a different time proving me wrong. Remarkable.”

Orpheus tilted his head, watching L continue to practice. The detective's smile was all he needed to know that he was doing a good thing. This... this could only be a good thing, yet he knew that wasn't the reason why he was doing it. He didn't do things to be good or to earn the trust or care of other people. He did things because they felt right, or because he wanted to, and sometimes the reward for that... well, it was priceless. Wordlessly, he took the guitar back. "I'll teach you some more chords after, if you'd like," he said after he'd finished adjusting the instrument so the strap rested comfortably across his back. "And the song isn't done yet, by the way. It's barely started." He let his eyes drift closed, channeling something in him that was feeding him chords and notes, something that he didn't quite understand. Right away as he played the first chord there was something almost... transformed about him. It was as though he suddenly came into sharp clarity, as though everything else was a dream and this song was his reality. A rather awkward and kind young man became confident and rather looming, but almost in a comforting way. And he continued, a few chords, and then his voice cutting in with a song that felt much older than the man himself. He continued still, voice high and arching and playing soft yet intense, something warm and calm shining through him, pouring itself into the air by means of the man and his guitar. And then without warning, he stopped. His eyes opened and his hand fell to the side and he met L's gaze. "It's not finished yet," he said again.

L let the guitar go, a mixture of regret and relief playing out in his eyes as both the chance to learn and the possibility of messing up vanished. Music, something he always seemed to underestimate. Much like art, he supposed. It took a day, a week, five minutes of wandering through the halls of the orphanage and seeing the children bloom like midnight flowers in art, song, dance, and anything else he could conceive of, to even begin to gaze at the possibilities it offered, and a lifetime to touch them. The song cut deep into his heart. No, not cut, he corrects himself, more....filled. Or maybe something else, that the human language had failed to invent a word for yet. His eyes fluttered closed and his head tilted back, as his body swayed gently and a sense of peace swallowed him whole. Yes, Orpheus could have been a child at Wammy’s house, had they lived in the same version of time and space. He opened his eyes slowly as the music cut off and blinked, then blinked again as something else came to life in his brain. “Oh, I’m sorry, you asked my name, didn’t you? I’m L. Did you really write that?”

Good, everyone had made it. Although a few of them were worse off then the rest...
Myrnin was already being comforted by the other human he still didn't have a name for, so, "Are you alright?" The sound of heeled boots tapping against the concrete floor echoed throughout the garage as Sandalphon took a few steps closer to Elliot. His previous question did hold the tone of concern, but his next words were a bit less serious as he tilted his head slightly in amusement. "Looks like you had a rough trip." From the way the other blinker was reclining back against the wall, he looked like he'd just ran a marathon.
"So, how long-" Before he could say any more, the Primarch's head shot up as his words were cut off by the resounding noise of the house above them being torn apart, dust falling from the cavern's roof as it strained from the power beating down on it. The storm had arrived, the realization of which sent an invisible shiver down his spine. Had they remained above ground only a few minutes longer...
A long crack had started snaking it's way across the ceiling, causing the quick semblance of safety that the garage had held to fade. It would be wise to get moving again.
Sandalphon cast his attention to the strange metal carts sharing space with them. A few of the machines resembled the ones that had been displayed on the screen in the bar room, while others were less refined in appearance. If any of these worked like those, they would be a big asset in possibly getting out of here. In the blink of an eye, the archangel was standing next to the nearest one, a sleek sliver Porsche.
Following what the mortals on the tv had done, he reached down to try the driver's side door, only to find it locked.
Of course it was, why wouldn't it be...
Red eyes closing in annoyance, he let out another sigh... Before turning away to protect his face and bringing an elbow down on the glass window, smashing it into pieces. Now that was out of the way, he managed to get the door open and was free to begin exploring the interior to hopefully figure out how to run this thing. Despite this, he silently prayed one of the other members of the group could man the vehicle instead, because he knew wasn't really qualified to do it.

Questions zoomed through Anika's head: Who brought me there? Where was that place? What was that place? Am I dead right now? Despite trying to focus on other things, the odd situation that occurred a couple days prior kept floating into her thoughts. Maybe it was some weird dream, but it had seemed too real. She could still recall the Emperor's ghastly voice. In the blink of an eye, the dragon's surroundings shifted. This place, it was all too familiar. It was where the incident had taken place. She felt one of her paws claw the ground and her wings, which weren't broken anymore, flutter. "oH my PlaGUeBrinGeR. . . " Yes, it had happened again! For the second time, she was part of an 11-headed Emperor. The other heads looked the same as last time, too. She wanted to know what the cause was, now more than ever. Just then, a thought (or rather, urge) suddenly came to her - HUNGRY. MUST. FIND. FOOD. Without giving a say in it, the Emperor's body lifted into flight. Anika was once again reminded of how good flying felt, but the current situation and the voice in her head replaced happiness with confusion, worry and hunger. Landing on top of a few buildings, which were crushed under her massive frame and immense weight, she now found herself in front of a small group. Nearby was a flaming tree, which had been ablaze before she came here. The man from before wasn't among the few people on the ground, though that wouldn't stop her from asking the question she'd been meaning to ask him. "do AnY oF YOu. . ." she cut off, another thought storming to take over her brain. FOOD. FOOD. FOOD. Trying to force it out, she realized that she couldn't remember what she'd been about to ask.

The room had gotten just a bit crazier than a very slow mummy could handle. But Kid tried. He'd been about to answer Joey when he heard a thump not to far away. He turned to see someone had fallen off a roof and for a second Kid felt his heart leap into his throat. But then the man seemed to sit up and Kid was relieved. One perk to most of them being undead in this room. He turned back to Joey only to have two more things happen. A ... ghost? appeared and proceeded to set a tree on fire and then a dragon - with almost a dozen heads - which was looking around at everyone with the expression(s) of looking at cooking stakes. Kid tensed. "I hate newbie rooms when magic is involved," he muttered. He couldn't move very fast and there was an overwhelming urge to lift his arms straight in front of him, but he shambled (the only word which could be used) toward the newbie poltergeist. "Hey!" Kid rasped as loudly as possible. "Get down here. Maybe your 'dream' doesn't want to be burned." It took a bit of shuffling, but he looked back at Joey. He was hoping for a little back up. And there was the dragon. He wasn't sure what to do about that. "You," he rasped at the dragon. "If you got enough blinker in your head, then you'll try and find somewhere else to get hungry. Otherwise, you're not going to find much meat from me, Joey's a skeleton, and the new guy is a ghost! So good luck to you." The man who'd fallen from the roof already seemed to have someone looking after him, so Kid hoped he didn't have to cut in.

Did you really write that?” Orpheus watched L's reaction carefully once he had stopped playing. He wanted to make a good impression, wanted L to like it, wanted some proof that what he was doing was going to be worth something some day. He knew he didn't usually rely on validation, but it was the first anyone had heard of the song he was writing. Or... writing was definitely the wrong word. It was the first anyone had heard of the song he was discovering, like it was some ancient thing that was just being awoken after far too long. "Right. Nice to meet you, L." Orpheus held out his hand to shake. He gave a soft smile as well, unsure if L wanted to continue learning, or if he had just been humoring him. He didn't want to force anyone to play who didn't want to, and although L had seemed to enjoy it, there was always the possibility that he didn't want to continue. "Yes," he murmured after a pause. "Though I'm not sure it can qualify as writing when I hear it sometimes... in dreams, or in moments when I'm not quite anchored to reality... it speaks through me more than I'm the one writing it," he admitted.

Noah didn't call Myrnin out for the colossal breath he took, though it was funny how seriously Myrnin was taking this. It didn't seem fair to just let Myrnin win, so he would do the best he could to refrain from giggling at how adorably serious Myrnin looked in his serious pose. The issue was that serious just wasn't a look that suited anyone so young, no matter who they were. Obviously, Myrnin was doing his best not to blink, and Noah had to admit it was a valiant effort. He hadn't blinked himself yet, but he knew he probably would soon. Or not. His hidden skills included not blinking for what seemed like ridiculous amounts of time just to freak people out. Nowadays he didn't even need that to freak people out, but he didn't want to dwell on that particular thought. Noah made up his mind. If Myrnin held out for another fifteen seconds, Noah would purposefully move to let him win. He wouldn't be obvious about it, but he would still do it. But Myrnin did not last another fifteen seconds. It wasn't really his fault. His eyes just weren't used to staying open that long. So, soon enough, one of them watered and a tear ran down the side of his face. Myrnin sagged a bit, disappointed, and wiped at his skin. He seemed a bit annoyed that his own body had betrayed him. He blinked several times, trying to work feeling back into his gaze. His eyes felt really dry. He shook his head several times and then admitted, "You win. But it was close!" Noah had shown no signs of moving, but that didn't mean much. Myrnin wanted to believe that he had been close to winning, so that was what he believed. But he grinned and seemed happy enough with second place. "You were close," Noah replied with a small smile, kneeling down and holding out his hand for a high five. Would Myrnin know what a high five was? Noah hoped he would, but considering what the kid had seemed to know and not know... he somehow doubted it. Yet maybe the high five had been invented a long time ago and had just been forgotten to time before someone picked it back up in the... when was the high five supposed to have been invented? It was a tangent he hadn't really meant to go on, so he redirected his mind pretty quickly. "Next time you'll have me for sure!" Noah promised, pushing some of Myrnin's hair out of his eyes. He liked spending time with the kid, he found. He hoped the House would let them have a little more time.

Anika was rather shocked that a creature of Kid's size would stand up to an Emperor. However, it was better than running away. He'd given her what she thought to be a clue, more than she'd gotten from talking to Bigby. Newbie rooms and blinkers. Just then, Anika recalled something: the question she was going to ask. "dO aNY Of yOu know WHeRe i aM. . ." The answer seemed so close. Close. . .FOOD. FOOD IS CLOSE. Though she'd tried to push it out, the urge to eat the group kept trying to take control of her thoughts.
