When it appeared Lovelace didn't need much convincing, Ougi blinked and drew her hands close to her as if taken aback slightly. If this blinker was willing to go head-first into things, maybe the two of them would get along after all. She turned away fully now and swung open the door to the hallway, heading outside. "It doesn't matter which one you pick," she informed her, "Or that's what everyone believes anyway." She said it like she had her own theories, ones that might actually work for selecting rooms. In reality, she didn't at all. There was no inductive way to make a rule like that in a place like this. The student now turned her gaze to the other blinker as if ready to evaluate her next decision closely. "Well then... why don't you pick one? What does your instinct tell you to choose?"

Rowlin had caught up even after his brief hesitation. It doesn't seem to be from the family... He observed the rather large canine. The dog talking was the least of surprises, but it did mention an important fact. Paradox house? Is that what this is? He crossed his arms to ponder, What world, or what place? A club, or council? New contractor? He couldn't help but dive deeper into his thoughts, somewhat zoning out from the other two present. Then the dog like being itself, it wasn't from The Family, clearly. So where was it from? or was it allied with anyone for that matter? Actually, is it real to begin with? Sometimes those spirits like to pull our legs.»ƑαƖcση

Ononoki stared at Ghost as the dog spoke to her, or, more like she stared just above him. She seemed to have no differentiation between talking to an animal and talking to a person. Only when she had encountered a dragon in her previous blink had there been hesitation. "Hmm," she said when he questioned her posed look, or lack thereof. "I don't know what you mean." It was as though she couldn't tell from the inside that her appearance didn't look posed at all. Possibly more likely was the chance that she just wanted to avoid the question. Even as an expressionless doll, she could guide a conversation if she really wanted to. Her head turned slightly, as if sensing a growing vibe of concentration from Rowlin. He seemed to have a lot to consider, enough that when her response to Ghost died down and she expected that he would talk next, he seemed to have nothing to say--nothing to say out loud that is. "...Big Brother Row, is something the matter?" she said, staring at him blankly. Although there was no emotion, she couldn't help but look expectant by virtue of her lack of dawdling during the wait.

Lovelace followed Ougi into the hall, noting that she’d seemed surprised at her willingness to go in the rooms. Understandable, if most people were too scared to do so after what they’d been told. She stopped in the doorway, disoriented and completely taken aback by the sheer number of doors...they seemed to go on, and on, and on, until she couldn’t even see them anymore. How many were there in all...? It took a moment, but finally she shook herself, acknowledging Ougi’s statement. “Why have me pick one if it doesn’t matter?” she muttered, frowning, but despite that observation, she stepped forward, crossing her arms as she ran her gaze down the row of doors in front of the two of them. “This may sound like a stupid question,” she warned, absently fiddling with the cuff of her jumpsuit sleeve, “but can we just...open one up and look inside? Without going in? That seems...safer.”

Ougi smirked and stepped--or danced, rather--to the opposite side of the hallway, turning to have her back to the wall as if she were advertising one of the doors to Lovelace. She seemed to think that the other blinker's ideas were amusing for their naivety. She stuck out one leg and pointed her toe at the bottom of the door, leaning forward ever so slightly and making creases in the front of her uniform. "Ah, trying to relieve yourself from commitment as much as possible? I'm afraid that hypothesis won't work. By the time you know what is in the room, it is already too late." She raised one hand and bent her torso back the other way now, as if about to brush the hair out of her face. "You're welcome to try it though," she murmured smugly as she looked down her nose at the captain.

Ghost was silent for a moment, considering. His eyes weren't glowing anymore, that had shut off as soon as the pair walked up, but they still peered at the girl with un-doglike intelligence. Her behavior was abnormal, even for a visitor to the house. In fact, Ghost was becoming increasingly convinced that the body he was seeing in a physical sense did not actually belong to the entity he was conversing with. He was about to respond, but the girl suddenly turned to the teen. The look of puzzlement on his face was nearly tangible. While the girl's "posed look" was a mystery, this expression was one Ghost was able to recognize. "Just go ahead and ask," the shepherd said with a shrug. "It's not going to do you any good to keep silent."

Lovelace smiled - a tight, wry smile, and shook her head. Of course...Ougi was just playing with her. She knew a lot about this place, clearly, and she was stringing her along, watching her steps with the idle curiosity of a scientist observing a specimen. Reminded her of Selberg, a little...but without the cold, harsh edge the man had had. This girl was more passive, more cheerful about her exploits - she doubted she had any sense of duty about all this. “Okay...pick a door, any door,” she said, running her hand across a couple doorknobs until it tightened around one in particular. Identical to all the others, of course...but what else did she have than instinct here?
She pulled the door open, and saw nothing. Just fog, and darkness, and vague, imperceptible shapes somewhere in the distance of that fog. So she closed that door, and opened another, then another, then another...but they were all the same. Carbon copies of each other. So she returned to the first one. “Here goes nothing...” One step, and she was inside, and the hallway vanished behind her, swallowed in the same dark fog as this room had been moments before. At the same moment, a rush of familiar sights and smells hit her - she was now standing in the middle of a large basketball court, shoes squeaking on the polished wood floor as her steps echoed around the wide open space. It wasn’t exactly like the one she’d had in high school, there were discrepancies, but...damn, even the ugly shag carpet on the stands was the same.

Ougi smiled proudly when Lovelace finally selected a door, and was already removing her back from the wall and shifting on her heels to follow. She bounced into step and slowed to a stop once more when their surroundings changed around them, less looking around quickly and more gradually swiveling her head to almost mock-assess the situation. The head swiveling turned into a slow nod, showing that she approved of Lovelace's 'choice'. While the other blinker moved forward, she stayed where she was, stare boring into the other blinker's back. "Well, what do you think?" she questioned--more like interrogated. She didn't turn her gaze away from Lovelace's back, and now noticed something odd about the place she was looking. There was a... light? She had started a fire. Like lighting a match, except without the match. Her eyebrows raised gradually, then suddenly, her eyes widening as she raised one hand and started to reach for her. "-Oh..."

Dukku blinked into the House. The scenery around him and the texture under his paws was unfamiliar, but he knew where he was - The Paradox House. There were a couple of humans nearby, one of which he'd recognized from a previous blink (but who he hadn't met) and another who he'd never seen before. At least there were no scary tree height creatures right now. The fox-cat sat down on the floor. Whatever material this was, the hardness surely felt unnatural.

"A bit," admitted Kid. "She's been here now and again." He didn't exactly care if Arlo knew or not or if it caused a problem in the timelines. As far as Kid knew, this young Arlo was a completely different version from the one he knew. "I see," said Kid. He'd wondered about the books. He remembered Deemo writing on them to talk to others and using the books for his magic sometimes. He'd wondered why they were blank. This didn't explain anything, but it did give some different information. "Clones?" he muttered, slightly disturbed as he once again remembered the apparently alternate reality version pictures from the time they'd been kids. "I imagine it was strange." He was slightly surprised at Arlo's request to keep the paper plane, but he nodded. "Sure." He then waved a hand at the surrounding forest. "Guess it's time to explore." He started walking in a random direction. (Do you want to add anything?) [[ Forest Room || Mini Arlo (2? I think she might be the only one left now) || mintedstar/fur ]] "Oh cool! She told me she'd been here before but I haven't really had a chance to ask her much about it." Arlo would definitely be asking Vyra about the House when she blinked back though. Well, once they were somewhere she felt safer. Vyra seemed to think that the little village was safe enough as long as you didn't use magic where you could be seen, but Arlo wasn't so sure about it.
"Yeah, I guess it was..." she trailed off as she thought about it, looking into the forest. "I didn't really see much of what happened with the clones though, I kept having to ask what was going on because I kept freezing," she admitted, a bit of irritation in her voice. It seemed like she frozen every time she'd tried to do anything. "Really? Thanks!" she said, her annoyance at the House forgotten again. She carefully folded the plane's wings to its sides and tucked it between the pages of her notebook to keep it safe before following Kid. (to the room? idk, is there anything there besides the trees and mushrooms rn?)

“This is...huh...” Well, there weren’t really the right words to describe it. This place, recreated so nearly perfectly, and this had been the one place she was sure Goddard Futuristics couldn’t get to. There was just no way they had the power to do this...it was impossible. Ha. She’d said that before. As she heard Ougi’s little exclamation, she turned around, taking an automatic step back as she noticed she was being reached for. “What’s wr - OW, god, what the - “ She twisted around, grabbing at her shirt as something stung her on the back of the neck, then she noticed the steadily growing flame. Blurting a colorful string of expletives, she stumbled backwards and tripped. She flailed as she fell, throwing her arms out in front of her to try and grab onto something, and as she did, white tendrils shot from her wrists and curled around her fingers, growing rapidly into long whips that curled themselves into the air, mirroring her attempt to grab onto something and flinging white liquid in every direction as they did so. Wherever the liquid drops landed, there was a little hiss, the material underneath warping and melting in response to the corrosive substance.

Dukku's ears perked up as the fire started. What was that light? How was it created? By the other blinker's reaction, it seemed to be painful. All of a sudden, blasts of white. . .stuff was suddenly projected into the air. One landed near him, almost touching his tail. What was that? Upon seeing what the effects of these projections were, he got to his paws. Just as he was about to run away, mud which seemingly came out of his paws started appearing under him. What in the world? Every time an acid blast came near him, a thick wall of mud rose up to block it. Was he somehow making and controlling the mud? What was going on? Even with everything he'd experienced so far between weird places and odd creatures, this was beyond anything of that. The fox-cat stood frozen with fear.

Ougi sidestepped away from Lovelace, nearly tripping over Dukku when the other blinker appeared at an inopportune moment. She jumped instead and her feet stuttered aside, admittedly surprised by the power she suddenly seemed to display. It was perhaps most surprising because it was coming from her, and not simply something that the Paradox House was doing unto them. Lovelace's own ability only seemed to intensify the situation. Ougi fell onto the ground trying to avoid the sudden attack, swiftly removing her shoe from her foot when the liquid landed on it and began to melt a hole. "...Oh," she said again, but this time with different inflection. Now, it was one of realization, or maybe very slight understanding. Something was clearly off about this situation, even though she shouldn't technically be aware that Lovelace's ability was new as well. While she was contemplating, and staring at the hole in her shoe, she started to notice something odd again about the spot where she was staring. Now, that was catching on fire. She dropped the shoe on the floor and it squeaked against the polish, then bounced and completely burst into flames. Well... apparently that was what would happen if she didn't relent her stare on whatever she was looking at.

Lovelace fell flat on her back with a huff as all the air was driven out of her lungs, and the acidic whips she’d created collapsed, creating rivets of the white liquid that were slowly burning their way through the floor, evaporating as they went. “What...the everloving hell...was that...” she asked no one in particular, turning her head weakly to see that she’d landed right next to a...well, a something. A terrified little creature that seemed to be surrounding himself with mud against his own will. Aaand now Ougi was setting the place on fire a few feet away. Okay, maybe the others hadn’t been kidding about the rooms being dangerous. She slowly pushed herself into an upright position, wincing. “Okay. Okay...this is fine. This is great...just another wonderful day in the life of Captain Isabel Lovelace...” She took a deep breath, then turned back to the creature. “Hey, you,” she called to Dukku, coughing a little as she finished getting the words out. “Try to calm down - these things seem to show up when we’re startled.” And now there was the problem of Ougi...she apparently needed to be doused with water, or something. She just hoped she wouldn’t set one of them on fire again before they could get this figured out.

Loki blinked into the House, appearing on the steep shag carpet bleachers. The prinxe had been walking, and not expecting the sudden change in footing. They suppressed a yelp as they fell forward, throwing their hands out in front of them. Before they hit the bleacher directly in front of them, it transformed into a pile of multicolored gummi bears with a pop. The candy broke their fall, and they sat back up immediately, gummi bears shifting as they did so and falling down the bleachers. "What the-" They scrambled to their feet, surveying the scene carefully, spotting a pair of people and a small creature. A woman who seemed to be both on fire and flailing wildly around, as well as someone lighting fires. Never a dull moment in the House, then. They stepped out of the pile of gummi bears, approaching enough to see what was going on while avoiding the lashing whips.

Ougi climbed to her feet, her skirt ruffled from the commotion, and stomped on her shoe with her other foot to put out the flame. When it was over, her shoe was in tatters, but she still put it back on her foot anyway. When she ended up looking at the floor nearby and started to see the sparks again, she hastily averted her eyes and nearly glared as she changed her gaze frequently to avoid this problem. "Great... what are we going to do if I can't look at anything?" she questioned, offering the problem to the several blinkers who were here now. She only surveyed Dukku for a moment, and didn't have the audacity to look at Loki lest someone burst into flames who she didn't intend to. "Can someone tell me what we have to work with?" the student commanded as she took a step back, instinctively tilting her head up to avoid looking anywhere in particular.

(Sorry I'm so late! O.O ) The young boy didn't quite catch the water gun that was tossed to him and instead fumbled it. He hurriedly grabbed it and proceeded to hold it upside-down. "What? They're plants right? Wont they die out of water?" He was concerned. But it didn't feel like a plant. There were too many weird parts. "Or are they swords that require watering?" He played around with it but couldn't work it out. Was red a good color for these swords? He waved it around a bit, but there didn't seem to be any sharp edges. "Queen?" asked Myrnin looking up, eyes wide and wonder-filled but also suddenly very wary. "Which queen?" He looked back at the container of water. "Are you expecting me to dump this on you? I would not if it offended your queen." (No worries! ) “Nah, they’re just toys, see?” Sherlock held his up the right way, showing the boy. He was grinning like a kid on a snow day, his blue eyes bright with fun as he casually aimed at Myrnin. “You’re getting warmer.” He added with a low chuckle as the smaller blinker mentioned swords, and he curled his finger around the trigger, though he didn’t press it yet. “The queen of England, don’t worry about her, she’s nothing like anyone you’re thinking of, she doesn’t behead people unless they really get on her nerves, and nothing you could do to me would annoy her in the slightest, I don’t think she likes me much.” His tone suggested he was more amused than concerned by that fact, which threw some doubt on his casual remark on her beheadings. “Anyhow, I’d never tell you to go and do anything like that without building up to it, you’ve got to start small, as in...!” Water shot from his toy as the detective suddenly squeezed, straight towards Myrnin’s chest. The little boy yelped when he was suddenly just a bit wetter than he had expected. He looked down at the spot, then back at the 'toy' that Sherlock was holding. The boy ogled it and then looked down at his own. He turned it around a couple times and then tried to find the thing Sherlock had pushed to get the 'toy' to produce water. He found it after a couple of seconds and a long stream of water came out of the opening at the end onto Myrnin arm. "Amazing!" he exclaimed, looking up at Sherlock with an impressed look on his face. He'd apparently forgotten about the queen for now and instead was focused on this new technological discovery. He pointed it in the direction and ... hit him in his hair. Which was exactly where he'd been aiming. Myrnin shrieked with laughter, hopping up and down.

Kelsier felt the vampire leave the ground a fraction of a second before he leapt after him and spread his arms. The gray strips of cloth from his mistcloak fluttered and twisted in the air like their namesake and for a moment he looked like he might really be able to glide safely to the ground, as light as a droplet of water. Then he started to fall. He looked down first, judging the distance of the ground below him and how many obstacles there were. Maladict had jumped before him so he should be - Wait. The mistborn’s eyes widened as he saw the man twist midair, a flash of greenish blue on black feathers caught the light and he was no longer falling, but flying. Changing his plan in an instant, Kelsier plunged his hand into his pocket and threw down a small coin, then flared steel to Push to into the ground, where it sank under the weight it now held. there was enough ground trapped under it to hold him, and his fall slowed, until he hovered about three inches off the ground. He extinguished his metals and landed lightly in the soft grass, then looked up, a lopsided smile tugging the left side of his lips up one as his sharp eyes found the magpie sitting in a branch just over his head. “I think I like you better as a bird.” He called up. “Feathers suit you.” The bird gave an indignant squawk and ruffled his feathers. He flapped his wings and landed on the forest floor and hopped around a bit, looking up at Kelsier. Then he turned and flapped a bit, gliding along the forest floor ahead of the mistborn. He was impressed that Kelsier had made it here without becoming a small grease stain on the carpet of grass, but they still should probably get as far away from the invisible wolves as possible. He didn't know if or how many had fallen with them or if they could have survived it. The vampire didn't want to find out. He didn't speak - because he couldn't - but he didn't change back either. There would be too many questions if he did and he would rather avoid them for as long as possibly. He could move around in magpie form for a little without getting confused and trying to go hunt bugs instead. Anyway, it did give him one advantage. He pulled himself higher, flying toward the above tree mark. He wasn't sure how they could get out, but he was tired of running from wolves. (How should they get out, do you think? Echo had an idea about following where the wind is going, but we didn't get that far.) (That sounds good to me! Especially with Mal being a bird, he’ll be able follow the currents even better. ) Kelsier waited for the bird to change back, a boyish grin giving away just how impressed he was. He was also curious, but that could wait. Either until they got out, or longer, since Maladict hadn’t brought it up himself and might not want to talk about it. He himself had no reason to force any answers here, so he was content for now just to admire the other blinker’s beautiful iridescent plumage. “Where are we going?” He asked as the magpie suddenly took to the air. Apparently, he didn’t intend to shift back right now anyway, which the mistborn could respect. Unless he couldn’t...? “You’re not stuck, are you?” He called up, jogging to keep up with Maladict’s quick movements. “You can still understand me, right? Do a loop in the air if you’re still you up there.”

"I don't know what's going on," anxiety was evident in Dukku's words. Eyes wide, he looked up at Lovelace. Wasn't she the one who had created the acid whips? Just then, he noticed that the mud around him was changing. It was no longer building a barrier, but now it was spreading. The circle of mud looked a little larger than it had a couple minutes ago, and parts of it appeared to be reaching out. Who or what was doing this? Then, a thought came to him: was he somehow creating the mud? What am I going to do? he thought to himself, I don't know how to stop it or how long it's going to last.

A young girl with messy black hair blinked into the powers room. "Tag! You're it!" she stopped running as her outstretched hand came in contact with nothing as opposed to her classmate who had been there moments ago. Somehow, she was in a place that looked like the gym of the high school down the street. A few other people were nearby, but they weren't students or coaches (at least, they didn't look to be). They were also dressed strangely. That wasn't even the oddest part - a few spots on the floor looked burned and there was also a large puddle of mud. Plus, there was a creature in the mud. At first glance it looked like a kitten, but then she noticed it had what looked to be a gem on its chest along with a mane that was similar to a lion's. What on Earth? The girl shook her head and pinched her arm. Even when she didn't wake up in her bed, this still felt like a dream. There were just too many things wrong for it to be real. Just then, she did appear in her bed. I knew it was just a dream, she thought. However, when she sat up, she noticed she was still in the weird high school gym. Her bed had somehow been transported here. She shook her head again, even more confused than before.

“Alright, just...try to calm down,” said Lovelace, lifting her hand as the mud began inching towards her, resonating in waves from the frightened...whatever-he-was. “Look, obviously we all suddenly have weird powers we can’t control properly - “ and as if confirming her statement, a little strand of whiplike acid sprang from her fingers, flying into the air like silly string before landing with a sizzle in the mud, “ - but I’m guessing it gets worse if we’re agitated. So if we all just take a deep breath and relax, everything should be fine.” Her tone was comically firm, as if by commanding calmness she would singlehandedly strangle the life out of everyone’s fears. As she heard a suggestion, she looked over to see a tall person dressed in a green cape, wearing a ridiculous headset and ordering people around like they owned the place. “Wait - no, don’t close your eyes!” she exclaimed hastily, overriding their suggestion to Ougi. She had no desire to see anyone’s head go up in flames today. “Think about it - you’ll be looking at your own eyelids.”

Rowlin pondered some more, questions about this place and yet-questions about something prior completely unrelated crossed his mind. His green eyes shifted unconsciously as he considered thinking, clearly giving himself away to the other two present. It was when Ononoki addressed him that he blinked multiple times. Placing a hand along the back of his messy red hair he couldn't help but awkwardly laugh, given that Ghost was backing the question. "Nothing of urgency." He attempted to assure the two, his eyes glimpsing between the two, and then occasionally back at the walls. Yet their expressions weren't buying his words. "I'm just thinking about the connections to well-" He pointed downwards , "-well here." He began his explanation. "Seeing as this isn't my first experience being warped without warning, I couldn't help but wonder if my great nephew lost a bet to fate and put me under her whim." Midway through his sentence he crossed his arms then tilted his head. "Knowing the kid, he likes to get out of responsibilities sometimes." He closed his eyes, twitching his right eye in annoyance. "On the other hand." He brought he balanced his head upright, "If he didn't make a deal with lady luck, then it's gotta be someone." He closed his eyes once more, tilting his head forwards. "Did I make an agreement with someone, at some point in time? I can't remember..." He returned his head upwards, "It could have also been the Canadians." He last mentioned. "But.." he now shifted a hand along the side of his cheek, "If you are both asking me to spew my concerns." he thought it was a better time then never. His attention turned mainly to Ghost. "I take it you are not associated with The Family?" He asked the canine, yet the hint of relief made it sound more like a statement. His attention briefly turned towards Ononoki, "That's all I really had to say." He smiled a bit, as a means to recompose himself. »ƑαƖcση Razzle Dazzle

"So we're all causing this?" Dukku asked, already knowing what the answer would likely be. He was still worried that the mud powers would stay with him even when he went back to his world. Mud attracted insects, which brought sleeping sickness. That would weaken him even more, especially because of the disease he'd been born with. And what if the insects spawned here? He tried taking some deep breaths per Lovelace's orders, but because of all his worries and the stress of the situation he didn't feel calmed down. However, the mud puddle had shrunk a bit.

"The Canad... nevermind." Ghost decided it was probably best not to pursue that line of questioning. Instead he offered what he could to try and straighten out the mess of logic that the boy had just produced. "We have yet to discover conclusive evidence that any force outside the House is responsible for our arrival here. And no," the shepherd added, almost as an after thought. "I am not. I have no familial ties, or know any organizations by that name." Tension seemingly resolved, Ghost peered around the two down the hall towards the living room door. No telling how far they had actually walked past the point of the entrance, with the door's supernatural ability to position itself at the end of nearly every hallway. "So, are you two just out on a stroll?" Auransky
