"Don't be scared," assured Kaito, realizing he probably should have explained something. He patted his pockets. "One second." After a little, he pulled out a letter opener from somewhere that wasn't a pocket. He had no intention of hurting himself to prove a point, but luckily he wouldn't have to. "Watch," he said, reaching up to his head and grabbing some of his hair. It was and always would be just a little too long. Using the letter opened, he sawed at it until he was holding a chunk of it in his hand. He continued to look at Arlo until the chunk just ... dissolved. As it did, the badly cut part of his hair grew out again. "My body's in stasis," he said with a sign. "As best as I could describe it. Even if you do mess up, I'll just ... regenerate again. My arms will heal for about as long as I had my hair cut before they just go back to how they are now." It was fairly clear, however, that Arlo was struggling with clearing her mind and following what limited instructions he had for her. So the question, while it surprised him, was something he knew meant to distract her from what had happened. He thought about the question for a second, then said, "Yes. We did." It wasn't very hard to talk about Arlo. Not because he didn't miss her, he missed her very much, but he didn't think that should stand in the way of what she had been and done. "She was the first blinker and ... a lot of the other original blinkers are gone now or she didn't see them anymore. But I don't think that ever stopped her from talking to others." It had been his problem, after his death (or whatever you called it), to get stuck in the past and who he'd once known. Arlo hadn't seemed to do that, which Kaito could hardly believe, considering. "We ended up in a lot of rooms together. She was a lot more experienced than me and just had a lot of insight. She kept a journal and would draw or write in it. So I started keeping one as well, since it seemed to work for her." He patted at his pockets again, more for show than because he'd lost it. He pulled out a gray and black bound notebook and held it out to her. "It's full. It doesn't include anything from two years ago. Just ... from when I stopped blinking in for a while. If you wanted to see."

"I mean," said Mal. "It's the only thing I can think of." He tapped his foot against the leaf strewn ground. He almost chuckled as Kelsier took him up on the offer of throwing rocks. The vampire searched around for a couple as well before pulling up a couple which had been half buried in the earth. They turned out to be bigger than Kelsier's and slightly muddy. Maladict raised both eyebrows before saying, "Ready as I'll ever be." Then he tossed one rock up in the air, caught it, and then threw it back in the direction they'd come. He wasn't perfect with his aim ... but he watched as the rock didn't quite strike the ground and then bounce away. He winced and then tossed the other, though this time it did properly hit the earth. Kelsier glanced at his companion, eyebrows raised, as the stone failed to obey the regular laws of physics. “Well, that’s not normal.” He tossed his own rock, aiming for the center of the circle. He missed it by a few inches, and his rock hit the ground and bounced the way it should, so he readied his nest one. “If it is an animal, we’re probably making it pretty mad. Unless it’s dead. But in case it’s alive, how are you with hand-to-hand combat?” He tossed his next rock, which also hit only visible obstacles. He was almost beginning to wonder whether Maladict was pulling his leg when his third rock bounced very clearly off something he couldn’t see and rolled to the side, coming to a stop about a two feet in the wrong direction. “So how are your ears feeling?” The mistborn added, pursing his lips in a concerned sort of grimace/smile hybrid. "Probably better than you would expect," said Maladict with a grimace. He didn't particularly want to show that skill off. "I'm better at hand-to-hand than any other form." He tilted his head just a bit when Kelsier's rocks missed and his eyebrows knitted together. He wasn't sure why his rock hadn't done much. But he couldn't help that. "My ears are doing fine," he assured the mistborn. He glanced over at him. "Did you have something in mind?"

It had been almost four days since Arlo's parents had been killed and she'd been stranded on the island, almost four days since her last blink. In those three days, there had been only a couple of things that Arlo wanted more than returning to the House, but when she finally appeared in the living room she almost didn't notice the change. The girl blinked in running and skidded to a stop just in time to avoid crashing into someone on the couch, leaving a trail of muddy footprints on the floor. She was... a bit of a mess. Twigs and leaves were caught in her messy, wet hair, small scrapes were visible on her face and hands and raindrops spattered her clothes. "K-Kaito-" she started, but quickly stopped when she realized that the blinker in front of her was definitely not the one she'd been talking to the last two times she'd been in the House- she didn't remember seeing him in the House before at all actually.

"I- there was-" Arlo started, looking behind her as if worried she'd been followed, even though she knew it wasn't possible. "I'm," she tried again, glancing at the other blinker, then around the room again. She really wasn't alright. Her parents were dead, she'd been alone on an island for four days and there was still no sign of James Brennan or the boat, and things didn't seem to be improving, but she didn't even know who she was talking to yet. "I'm... lost. And something was chasing me," she said finally. It was the truth, just not all of it. Not anywhere near all of it. Four days might not have seemed like a long time, but to Arlo it felt like so much longer and the House was currently the best escape she could hope for. "I'm really glad I finally came back here," she admitted quietly, reaching up to brush her hair away from her eyes.

Arlo nodded as he repeated part of what she'd said. Despite her current situation, she still managed a quiet, "Arlo Crimson, welcome to the Paradox House," after he introduced himself and confirmed her guess that he was a new blinker. At his question however, the girl glanced away again. Right now she didn't feel like she could trust anyone in her world, but this wasn't her world and she'd never had any problems with the people here, aside from that one newbie in the Lodge who'd yelled at her and Maladict. Quincy seemed like one of the nice blinkers... "I-I went to an island on a trip with my parents but some people came to our camp and... and they killed them..." As she spoke, she'd started twisting the cord of her locket again. "I was supposed to go back to our friend's boat and show him something I found," she wasn't sure if she should mention the necklace, "But the boat was gone and that was days ago and now someone's following me..." another pause. "I-I think it might be them... My mother said they'd come after me if they realized I was there."

Arlo Crimson, the name was so familiar. One of Shilo's close friends. The one who gave her the opal knife as a memento of the assassin's time in the House. Quincy couldn't muse on that for long as he heard the rest of the girl's story. His eyes widened once again. "I...I'm so sorry." He couldn't imagine something like that...and at such a young age. What did he say? What advice was there to give? Quincy moved from his place on the couch onto one knee so he was eye level with Arlo. "Do you know who they are? Why they're following you? Is it because of what you found?" His stutter was gone now, too focused on helping the child. He tried to think of any information Shilo had given him to help the girl without skewing any timeline. Though... would it be skewing a timeline if the events had not come to pass yet? Wouldn't it just cut into a second universe? Maybe, if one considered theories to be fact. Despite all the knowledge that Team 73 had, even they weren't able to know for sure. Ghost, wolf, magic, auras... God, what could he tell the girl... "You have magic powers, right?" He asked, deciding to start there. He could explain how he knew later, but right now, she needed help and he was all she had.

"I don't know who they are... but yes, I think they're after what I found," Arlo replied. She didn't really intend to say what she'd found, but his next question surprised her. The girl quickly checked her hands to make sure that they weren't sparking or anything. How would he know about her powers if he was a new blinker? Had someone told him? Did being the first blinker really make you that well known? "Yeah..?" she said finally, unable to completely hide her confusion. "I just got them when I found this," she reached up to touch the necklace. "I've been trying to learn how to use them... a friend of mine told me that I'm going to be a healer, but I haven't figured it out yet."She had been practicing though. As she spoke, the eleven year old raised her hands, palms facing each other, fingertips almost touching, and watched as flickering strands of greenish light twisted over her fingers, sparking and jumping between her hands occasionally.

Elliot turned his head, silence emitting from his reaction to the other individual speaking. He blinked seeing the band-aid and handkerchief. Seeing it reached out, he hesitated for a moment before reaching out. The comment of hurting himself, he couldn't help but tilt his head to notice his hand coated in oozing blood. He jerked a bit, only now realizing that he had been inflicting pain on himself. He took the items then began to apply around the wound, before wiping his hand clean. "Safe?" He softly asked with skepticism. A part of him hoped that was true, it was an odd yet simple statement. Seeing that the handkerchief was coated in blood, he folded it neatly feeling a bit unsatisfied with ruining a perfectly good piece of cloth. "A-Apologies.." He handed it back feeling bad about it.

Arlo's eyes followed the letter opener, concern soon turning to surprise and amazement as she watched him cut a piece of his hair, only from it to grow back a moment later. "Whoa! Your... immortal?" Immortality was something she usually only heard about in stories and she was still getting used to the fact that magic like that could be real.
She quickly went quiet again when he started to answer her other questions. She was a bit disappointed to hear that a lot of the original blinkers were gone, she'd been hoping that she would get to meet some of them. At the mention of the journal, Arlo reached into her pocket and took it out- still nowhere near as full as it had been when the older Arlo had been carrying it- then put it back when Kaito held out his own notebook. "Oh, you don't mind-" she'd just started to reach for the book when she disappeared.

It had been two days since Arlo's last blink, six days since her parents had been killed, when she blinked in again. This time however she actually appeared to be doing a little better, though she still had a lot of dirt and scratches on her. She was sitting on the floor with the her notebook on her lap, looking at something or someone that had been across from her. "-think I've kinda got it," the eleven year old said quietly, signing as she spoke. Since she didn't know much sign language besides the alphabet, she couldn't do much more than spelling out things. Kind of slow when trying to have a conversation, but at least it worked. Arlo looked up when her surroundings changed, spotting a small group of blinkers she didn't recognize. She quickly closed her book and put it back into her pocket before getting to her feet and waving at them. "Hello," she said as taking a few cautious steps toward them.

Ougi pushed herself up out of her sitting position, her feet flat on the floor and heaving her body upright. Her black tights made her legs just as voidlike as her eyes, strange contraptions that carried her around. She perceived immediately that Rachel hadn’t been here before. The way she could ‘read people’, she understood that the newcomer wasn’t just someone surprised by the traps like herself. “Oh?” She flopped her shoulders toward Rachel, for a moment seemingly interested in her. But it was something else she was interested in. One hand removed itself from its sleeve, revealing a black glove. She drew her finger over Rachel’s arm to steal some peanut butter. “Delicious!” As if that weren’t creepy enough, she put her face right in the newcomer’s personal space bubble, smiling evilly. “Hello there.”

Arlo listened to the other blinkers as she approached. They seemed to be discussing the House. Were they new? They weren't freaking out about blinking, but it didn't seem like either of them knew much about the place yet. She glanced between the two of them. "I..." She started to speak, but trailed off again. Even in the House she was still a bit wary of people she didn't know, especially when there were more than one. It would probably take quite awhile for her to feel anywhere close to normal again. "I don't remember seeing either of you before..." the girl tried again, "Did you start blinking recently?"

Madoka shook her head. "Oh, no! It's been a long time for me," she said with a slight laugh. It was strange to think about all the things she'd experienced here. "I haven't seen you either, what's your name?" she asked the girl. As Aizawa went on to press Madoka, she lifted her head back up to face him, the words right on the tip of her tongue as a pause followed her actions. "Ah, about two months!" she then blurted out. That felt right, but why had that slipped her mind? A lot sure could happen in such a short time, though, she mused to herself as she recounted her house memories.

"Oh, s-sorry," Arlo replied. She should probably stop assuming that everyone she didn't recognize was new, there were probably still a lot of older blinkers she hadn't met yet. "I'm Arlo- Arlo Crimson. I guess I've only been here for about a month but it seems like it's been longer because of that one room and... stuff." She didn't really want to go into detail about her world right now. She glanced at Aizawa when he confirmed that he was a newbie. "Welcome to the Paradox House."

</div>“Huh...” said Matt, still caught off guard by the sudden darkness. “Yeah, this is...” Well, it was something. He hadn’t quite been in a room like this before - he’d been in dark rooms, of course, but not one that felt so...deep. Endless. It was like standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon, except you couldn’t see three feet in front of your face. ”It kinda does, doesn’t it,” he said, nodding in agreement with Nico’s observation. He shivered, then straightened up, taking a breath. “I wonder what the deal with this place is - I mean, not much to work with, is th - “ BANG. Abruptly, the door slammed behind them, plunging them into complete and utter darkness before Matt could even finish his sentence. ”Woah...” he said in a hushed tone, blinking. Then, realizing he could no longer see at all, he reached out a little in his new friend’s direction. ”Nico, you still there?” he asked. Just wanting to confirm that the House hadn’t swept him away.

"It's nice to meet you too," Arlo replied, finally managing a slight smile. "Yeah, for awhile I was blinking in really often, like several times a day," she paused, glancing away from the other girl. "I haven't been blinking in much for about a week though... I've missed the House."Her gaze landed on Aizawa again, who'd went silent when she introduced herself. While it could have been a coincidence, after all, he hadn't really said that much since she'd blinked in, she'd learned to expect reactions from the other blinkers when she told them her name. "There was... another version of me here," she said, then tilted her head slightly as she looked at him. "But how long have you been coming here?"
