The man who had answered Dukku's question looked different than the others, but still had the build of a human. Was he another variant of the species? A separate species entirely? Well, the fox-cat could understand him, so he decided to just go with things and try not to question it for now. So that meant this was the same place as the other one he'd been sucked into, despite most of the environment looking completely different. Just thinking about how such a thing could be possible made his brain hurt. At just that moment, another creature blinked in. She was a quadruped just like himself, but she certainly wasn't his species. She was without a doubt not human, either. Yet another difference and new thing to learn! And would visits continue like this for the rest of his life? The young fox-cat was beginning to get scared. Being surrounded by unfamiliarity. . . "I'm Dukku, and I'm a fox-cat. We're also sometimes called nichelings," his fur was still puffed out and anxiety was evident in his voice, but he still proceded to answer Clementine's question.

Clementine jumped - again. She didn't understand why the woman was acting as she was, there weren't any bad people here. At least as far as Clem knew. She peeked around at the man who had stepped over, her big brown eyes stared up at him in wonder. Aside from the lady just now, this man was the only other adult she'd seen in the house. Everyone else she had met were teenagers (one a dragon!) and other kids.
As the woman was busy with the man, Clementine scooted away a bit so she wasn't between them. The bark caught her attention and she spun around again to see quite the amazing wolf with gears and other such things in her body. Clem blinked once as she stared, then glanced when Dukku spoke up to her. "Nicheling?" He did kind of look like something between a cat and a fox, she noticed when he described himself as such. She took a few more steps away from the adult commotion and then gave a small grin. "Cool!" She wondered if he too could transform into a human like Hyacin had done or if that was special to just him. "Well, I'm Clementine," she said her name again in case it had been missed. Feeling the need to tack it on as well, she added, "and I'm a human!"

Dukku nodded. "Uh, is it normal to see a lot of different types of places here?" he couldn't help but ask. It seemed like she was more knowledgeable and was comfortable with the Paradox House. Turning to address Victoria's question, he realized he didn't know exactly to respond. "Um. . .I'm a fox-cat," he simply clarified his species name because it seemed like that was what she was asking. He'd never heard of just foxes or just cats. Only his species, fox-cats. While her species, wolf, was unfamiliar as expected, at least he knew what she was now.

While Rex’s command was meant to diffuse the situation, the effect it had on Lovelace was...well, quite the opposite. She did quiet down momentarily, but only because she thought she’d realized something, and she’d gone into a spiral of trying to figure out what it meant. This had Command written all over it. This guy...what was he...one of Cutter’s goons? Or worse, someone who outranked Cutter himself? How had they found her so quickly. No...relax. Be logical. Think clearly. That was an extrapolation. He was almost certainly connected to the Hephaestus mission somehow...it always came back to that godforsaken place. An anomaly that has a unique abilityl.. She’d heard words similar to that before. Usually, right from Cutter’s own slimy mouth. “I don’t know who you think you’re ordering around, but I’m not doing anything until you give me a better goddamn explaination than that,” she snapped, not giving him an inch. In fact, she stepped a little closer, intense gaze burning a little brighter as if trying to make up for the height difference with sheer intimidation. “I want your name. Your rank. And what you or your bosses think you’re doing kidnapping people and sticking them on whatever this is. Right the hell now.”

"Oh, ok!" Victoria said to Dukko. She had never heard of a fox-cat before, but she figured it was something common in his world. She nodded at Clem's statement. "Mmhmm, there's lots of different rooms! They're super fun! And some of them are kinda wild, I guess, though."
"Aw, thanks! Clementine is a pretty name too- like that song. The California one." Victoria commented. She looked down at her metallic legs and shrugged. "I dunno if it's like, robot. That sounds so, like, modern, or something, I dunno. I guess it's kinda more like, machine. Like part machine. But I dunno, it just helps me keep going."
Victoria looked over at Rex and Lovelace, wondering if she needed to say anything. Then again, she figured she'd let the adult humans talk and such, and if she needed to like, vouch for Rex not kidnapping people, she could.

Dukku didn't know what a room was or looked like, but he wanted to assume that his first blink had been in one of them, because it wasn't this area. "Does this place here have a name?" he asked, referring to the surrounding area, the living room. At the mention of 'robots' and 'California', he realized that the blinkers were relating terms from where they had came from to each other. First with just plain foxes and just plain cats to this. It wasn't exactly a conversation he could partake in, so he tried to let it slide. However, he couldn't help but continue to think about the sheer amount of differences and precisely how different most of them were.

‘Grand Army of the Republic’? What kind of an organization was that? It definitely wasn’t one she’d ever heard of. Which meant she’d just found yet more secrets from Command. Greeeat.
The momentary confused silence he’d pushed her into with his announcement soon broke, though, and she snapped back into action, firing back at him with an equally complicated introduction. “Captain Isabel Lovelace of the U.S.S. Hephaestus station, Goddard Futuristics, Canaveral branch.” As he repeated his command to stand down, she stood up a little straighter, stubborn. Unyielding. “Damn,” she said, half her mouth twisting into a tight smile. “Must’ve missed the part where they taught us that a captain can give direct orders to another captain. Never was much good at paying attention in class.” Well, Captain. I’m calling your bluff. What are you gonna do...shoot me?

"Yeah, like that," she said. The song everyone quoted when hearing her name. "I think it's cool!" It was cooler than cool, really. A mechanical wolf! Clementine faced Dukku again, raising a hand as if she knew, but then stopped in thought. She couldn't remember this part of the house being mentioned by name to her. "Um...I don't know," she admitted. Aside from the lodge, rooms, and the house's name itself, she really didn't know much. She sent a glance back at Victoria to see if she knew the name.

"If this is the living rooms and there are rooms here, is this one of the rooms?" Dukku asked. The last part of 'living room' sounded the same as the other word used to describe places in the Paradox House, 'rooms'. He still thought that it could be a coincidence, considering Victoria's reaction to hearing about his species.

"Well, yeah, I guess it is a room in the House, but it's not like, a room room." Victoria clarified, though it wasn't much of an enlightening clarification. She looked over to the hallway. "So, it's like, the rooms are the ones that change and everything an' you only blink into 'em if someone's already in'm, so the Living Room is sorta like home-base, y'know?"

"So, this place stays the same but all the other rooms are different each time?" Dukku asked. He didn't understand the term 'home-base', but this was the vibe he seemed to be getting. If it were the case, at least there was one constant. That was a small relief, if it even mattered at all. As for rooms being dangerous, 'Benjamin' had told him that a fight was about to go down in the area he had been in his first blink. "This is only my second blink, but the first time I think I was in one of the rooms you're talking about and a fight was about to take place." The fox-cat was still feeling rather overwhelmed, but he had begun to calm down a bit and his fur was starting to lie flat again. His tone of voice had also become less anxious.

"Oh, yeah, well, yeah, some of them are dangerous." Victoria realized, raising her head a bit. She realized that Clem was a lot shorter than the others- well, 'cause she was a kid. "Some of them are just weird. And some are really fun! But yeah, I guess don't go in alone. I don't anyways, 'cause I don't got thumbs."
"Yeah, yeah- that's it. This one's like, always the same. Unless it's the Lodge." Victoria said. She paused as Dukku mentioned a fight. "Oh, yeah, that happens sometimes. But sometimes those happen in the Living Room, too."

"Dunno. Some people get real scared, though, when they first start coming here, which makes sense, 'cause some people's worlds are real wild and everything so they think the House is like, something bad from their world, I guess." Victoria mused. She pushed her ears under Clem's hand to be petted, the chain rattling a bit. "But I gotcha. I think people should just be nice, too."

"Nichelings sometimes fight over territory, food, or mates," Dukku stated. He didn't know what the case was for humans, however. Last time, he hadn't been in the Paradox House that long. Were some blinked in long enough or simply so hungry that they felt a need to fight over it? Hopefully he'd never end up like that. He was naturally not very strong and his sickness made things even worse. If he had to fight, he knew he'd never win.

"No, it's not like that- not quite. It's a circle, yes- the ocean encircles the world. But it's rather simple to see how someone could stand on a mountain- is that not possible in your world?" There was a hint of irritation in his tone; Hector raised an eyebrow, wondering why it was so important to Maladict. The prince studied Maladict for a moment, then asked, "What's the tortoise standing on anyways, then, if we're scrutinizing each other's worlds?"
"As the Prince of Troy, I am the commander of the Trojan army in war and lord of the city in peace. Now, we are at war, and have been for some time." Hector answered. His tone wasn't exactly haughty, not quite, but it was clear to see that he understood and accepted the gravity of his position- and that he assumed that it crossed over to the House. "And you? What's this talk of deserting?"

Lovelace paused, watching his every move, every facial tic. He wasn’t afraid of her. Well, she wasn’t afraid of him, either. She could stand here all day. She could stand here until her muscles locked up. As he spoke again, she opened her mouth to retort, then closed it again. “Yes...I would,” she said stiffly, caught a bit off guard by Rex’s sudden cooperation. Had he given up on getting her to stand down? Or did he think he’d won? She wasn’t sure. He was hard to read. For now, though, she would go with the opportunity. Maybe he’d just decided to be helpful. “So where exactly am I, Captain Rex?”

Hange promptly sheathed their weapons, deciding to give him a sign on good faith. Though they were quite certain they could take down some knife-happy kid if he decided to attack again, so the gesture wasn’t fully sincere. But a gesture, nonetheless “I am a human person, a soldier, and a scientist,” they said, spitting out all their titles for lack of understanding on which one he needed. “My name is Hange Zoë. What’s yours?”

Matt stared for a moment, curious, as Joey finally removed his mask. “Not looking so bad yourself,” he commented, in a voice that was at least intended to be too quiet to be heard by its target. Then he raised his voice a little, leaning over the side of the wall. So he’d heard it too. That weird beeping. “Hell yeah I wanna see it,” he said, grinning. ‘Who knows - it’s the House, whatever it is could be our way outta here. Or...y’know, it could be a monster trying to kill us. Are you sure you wanna see it?”

"Oh." Victoria said. She hadn't realized how serious the girl's home life was- the happy-go-lucky wolf had assumed that there was arguing going on, but not the horrific scenes the girl was describing. She pressed her ears into Clem's palm again as a comforting gesture.
"Well, my legs'r cut off too, kinda. Well, I got hit by a train but like, kinda the same thing, you know? And I'm ok, 'cause the Inventor helps me out." She lifted one of her metal bar legs, the gears making a discordant creak. "Does your group have an Inventor-like person to fix everyone up?" Victoria asked, unhelpfully failing to extrapolate on who she meant by the Inventor.

(Today is surprisingly a lot busier than yesterday.) "Fine," said Maladict. It seemed like the best option that he had, so he really saw no reason why they could avoid it. Part of him wondered if, because of the stories he'd heard about the House, if it was even possible they could avoid going in that direction anyway. Maybe the room world just loop back on itself. He pointed in the direction the noise had come from before hesitantly walking in that direction. He wasn't willing to move quickly into a war or at least into another blast of noise. As they walked the leaves in the trees started to grow sparser and then drifts of fresh, fallen leaves grew larger until Maladict was looking ahead at a decidedly leaf-less stretch of forest. It went to his left and right ... in a circle ... "That," he muttered. "Is not how forests usually work." His eyes narrowed and he looked out at the bare trunks. "Was that horn blast at the center of this?" (There are invisible wolf bodies at the center of this. Feel free to have someone trip over one.) Perfect //rubs hands together )) Kelsier was fine with being slow. He, too, had no desire to go running into a situation he couldn’t control, even if he did itch to see what was going on as fast as he could. As they walked, and the less and less leaves remained on the branches, the mistborn couldn’t help shielding his eyes with his hand and looking up at the bright sun. It was amazing to be able to see it so clearly without burning tin...amazing to see it at all. It was so bright it made his eyes sting until he was forced to blink and look away, and even then the after image burned red when he closed his eyes. “No.” He agreed. He didn’t have to know what a forest should look like to know something unnatural when he saw it. “No, that looks distinctly artificial, doesn’t it?” He glanced sideways at the vampire. “Cover me?” Then he stepped into the circle and tensed, bracing himself to run or fight or...well, something was bound to happen, right? And it did. His foot hit something invisible and he stumbled into a tree with a sharp inward gasp. (I gave you too much reasons. One reason was too much.) "You shouldn't look directly at the sun," Maladict pointed out. Even he was having a bit of trouble with the light. It had nothing to do with being a vampire - he was fine with the sun - but the fact that the sun on his homeworld was a lot smaller than the one currently overhead and a bit less ... bright. He had to look to the ground and ignore the temptation to study the upper branches of the bare trees. "I have no idea what it looks like," Maladict admitted. "It seems more like something happened from the center and radiated outward. And the center would be ..." He pointed in the direction Kelsier headed. He nodded, tense, at the other blinker's request for cover. He didn't know the exact implication of the words, but he knew it meant to watch for danger while Kelsier couldn't. His senses ached, but he payed close attention to their surroundings. But then Kelsier stumbled and Maladict jumped forward, catching him by the shoulder, expecting something. Instead he just found one of his foot on uneven ground which didn't look uneven. "What on the Disc?" he exclaimed, stepping back and pulling Kelsier with him so he could be sure he was alright. "What's that?"
