mm yes okay i'm very sorry noct is such an uninteresting non-compelling character who's been wasting all our precious time it's not like i gave notice that i was starting his redemption arc and that he was leaving in feb- oh wait i did whenever other chars like kaia and rae had plots they were going through, you seemed more than happy to set time aside for them but i digress five months is a long time, i agree i would never ask the people on this thread to center completely around me and my character for all that time. i don't want that. all i want is to rp his redemption arc straight through bc it means a lot to me. it makes me happy to see him getting better and realizing that maybe, just maybe he is worth something. i don't care if you guys do this month thing. i never said you had to wait or not do it at all. i just said i wouldn't participate. you can all do it, but you really don't have to act like noctin's plot is a major inconvenience to everything. i'm sorry you find him so lackluster, but i don't and i will continue his plot whether you do this month thing or not.) (Please don't get mad, I'm just trying help make things fun for the entire group :C By putting things like 'well you don't care about my character' in your responses, it makes it difficult for me to know how to respond, especially when it's not true. I've never said or implied anything like that. I like Notcin, and I really enjoy rping with you, which is why I was just tossing out ideas to maybe help include you. I was also simply explaining my reasoning to Razz for why I was suggesting the thing to be sooner than later. That doesn't mean it will absolutely be when I say it is, thats not fair at all and wouldn't be any fun for anyone (plus you all would hate me lol) I just try to give reasons and explain my thinking a little more thoroughly online since inflection and expression doesn't carry over text )

(Maybe I'm just an old man but five months doesn't seem like that long, especially for something that might last a whole month. It'd be more fun with everyone doing it, and if we plan ahead there won't be plot conflicts imo) (To be honest if you would like to do the plot that is completely fine and understandable. Plus I don't mind if it takes five months since character development shouldn't be rushed.) oh i'm sorry i thought five months was way too long if you guys want to get in on the plot that's cool i'd be more than happy to throw noct at your chars i'm sorry i didn't think people really cared haha and falcon i'm not mad just frustrated bc how you're talking about noct and the plot makes it seem like it's an inconvenience. letting me sit it out isn't exactly hard. it's not like noct is going to warn the newbies much beyond 'the rooms are dangerous sometimes'.)

Sherlock obediently went fairly limp, although he couldn't resist squirming a bit in discomfort. He craned his neck, looking up at the robot dog curiously, noting the boosters and immediately taking note of approximately how fast they were rising, in addition to his own weight, in an attempt to guess how much power Ghost was using. Evidently someone had built him, and he wondered what sort of energy the other creature used as he touched down on the branch. Straightening, he dusted off his coat and turned up his collar, watching Ghost land with bright, alert eyes. "I was wondering, what sort of energy do yourself use?" He questioned. "Obviously quite efficient." Actually, the detective didn't have any way to know whether it was efficient or not, but he guess if he expressed the opinion that it was Ghost would either correct him, giving him an accurate description, or agree with him, which from what he could tell of the dog would also be accurate.

(I didn't mean to come off that way apologies. Just trying to include everyone who might want to be. one last idea on the topic and then I'll shut up, promise Cx What if there was some sort of reflux from the whole 'two houses' thing, and although the older characters can see and hear everyone, the newbie's can't see or hear any of the older members? Like they're existing in the same place on different planes? That way everyone who didn't want to do a new character could still rp like normal (or whatever amount to normal when there's a bunch of clueless people running around XD )

Ghost took a moment to respond, almost if he had gotten stuck on delay. He looked up, pupils resizing for few seconds as he re-focused on Sherlock. "Space Rainbows." Sarcasm first, as usual. Although technically true. He had an small, internal plasma core that kept him from completely exhausting his power supply. "I siphon electricity from various facilities in my own world." The shepherd replied. "Efficient maybe, but incredibly unreliable. I have no energy sources here. However, I'm working on an alternative." He didn't elaborate, and he also didn't explain that he was operating on maybe a fourth of the capabilities he usually did. In fact, he had dropped dangerously low after hoisting the man to safety, although that might have been made obvious by his lack of balance and response time. At least he was almost dry now. "On the topic of alternatives, I would venture to assume that our previous entrance has since vanished and we will need to find another way back."

The sarcasm didn't seem to phase the detective, having both given and taken a significant amount in his own world. His eyes had narrowed slightly when Ghost seemed to struggle to respond. He had already concluded that the house had an effect on the robot's power, which in fact was mostly the reason for his curiosity about the type of power. "The people on your world, I suppose they either don't typically leave it, or you were created for some other purpose." He said out loud, mostly to himself. The world had to be similar to earth in certain ways, or Ghost wouldn't look like a dog, but it had to be different enough to make creating such a complex system possible. Unless of course, this was a future earth. However, judging from how obsessed with space the people on his world were it was unlikely they would make such a creation in the future only to have it stuck on the already explored planet, so an alternate one was more likely. Efficient but not reliable...reliable on his own world? He had boosters and a cannon, so Sherlock allowed himself to hypothesize some sort of war, happening on Ghost's world.
Suddenly realizing he had forgotten to listen to the rest of the dog's answer, he glanced up to find it was his turn to speak. "Sorry, what did you say?" He asked, looking attentively at his companion.

(Does anyone have a brief rundown of events? I have no idea what is going on.) ( What was happening when you were here last? The only big things I can think of is that we tried to do a side plot and ended up getting too busy to finish it and a few different rooms. Right now we're discussing a possible upcoming plot/event/thingy/idek but it's still a pretty rough idea xD )

Ghost watched Sherlock's face as the man thought, an eyebrow raised in mild amusement. "Our worlds are similar enough that I can identify your brand of coat." He offered, possibly enjoying his status as an enigma a little more than he should. "And I recommend not assuming too much based off of physical appearance. I personally made modifications to this unit to better suit my own purposes, beyond what is widely considered capable by 'modern' technology."
At the detective's last question, one side of Ghost's mouth quirked up in more amusement. "Where to next?"
(Edit: Oh wow I just realized I never put up my character forms on these forums x-x brilliant. I'll go do that )

"Indeed." While somewhat annoyed to discover his reasoning had missed an option, the detective was mostly just fascinated by all the variables here. So he could modify himself? It wasn't actually shocking when you thought about it, he supposed it made sense that an intelligent, seemingly sentient robotic being would be able to change its appearance, at least the part that wasn't directly related to its core systems. His eyebrows raised slightly when he considered Ghost's first statement, he couldn't pretend he wasn't somewhat comforted by the fact that he'd been right about something. Dragging himself again out of his own head, he nodded and glanced around at the enormous tree. "Well, down, I suppose." He said, peering downwards carefully. "A safer way this time, maybe with a slightly smaller chance of death."

Ghost looked down as well. "I could not maintain power long enough to lower us both, and the g-forces from a drop with a controlled landing would probably kill you." He sounded annoyed with himself and his inability to immediately fix everything. "Closer to the trunk may be a better option...." It was still a risk though, with the branches becoming so much farther apart lower down the tree, not to mention the large gap between the last branch and the ground. Assuming there was a ground, for all they knew this could be an infinite tree. The shepherd looked up at their surroundings, calculating. "Humans are known for their mastery of taming animals." He said slowly. "Perhaps if I was able to lure the squirrel back..." He trailed off.
(What if they rode leaves down? XD)

That sounds like exactly the kind of thing the Paradox House would make them do. )
It wasn't a bad idea. Closer to the trunk they would also have a better chance of catching themselves if the slipped, the branches would be thicker, and hopefully less deadly acorns would come their way. The detective glanced at the trunk, trying to find a way down just by looking. The problem was, he couldn't see the bottom. He was interrupted from this thought when Ghost mentioned calling the squirrel back, and he threw the robot a sharp look. "Don't be so sure. I don't know anyone who can control squirrels, especially when they already have so much food and are significantly bigger than you. Besides, there's a high chance the House will have made it carnivorous, or something like that, so we might have a better chance simply jumping." He shook his head, starting towards the trunk. "If all else fails, you could always go down on your own, clear out whatever dangers are there."

Ghost put his ears back momentarily at Sherlock's glance, more in a dismissive way than a threatening move, then padded after the man as he started back towards the trunk. "The only danger currently present is gravity, and unfortunately I can do nothing about that." He pointed out, stalking along the branch. "That and being swept away by one of these enormous leaves."
(Ghost is not creative in any way, it'll probably be up to Sherlock to see the flight capabilities of a leaf xD)

Sherlock stopped, putting forward a hand and touching the trunk. He looked downward, seeing quite clearly that the next branch was dangerously far down. "You're the one that warned me about the rooms." He pointed out absent mindedly, trying hard to think of a good solution. "It doesn't seem likely to let us leave without some entertainment in the form of near death experiences." Gazing down, an oversized leaf flipped past him, nearly knocking him off the branch again. Then it hit him. Swept away by enormous leaves. Entertainment. He closed his eyes for an instant, shaking his head almost imperceptibly. "Ah. Of course." He muttered.

"I did indeed. So I cannot be held responsible for any occurring events." The reply was in jest. Ghost stopped when Sherlock did, ears up as he cocked his head in interest. "What is it"

No worries. )
"The leaves." Sherlock said in reply, watching one soar gracefully just out of reach, it's vivid fall colours seeming to catch the light as it flipped and fell. He guessed they would seem significantly less graceful when he put his idea into action. "Oh, never mind," He added in an impatient tone, shaking his head and not looking at Ghost, "if I explain it to you, you won't do it, panic will have too much time to- Think fast!" He interrupted himself loudly, and his feet left the branch as he leapt, catching a wide leaf by one edge just in time to get flipped upside down. He would have hoped not to die, but he didn't have time just now.

(Hey guys watching the LoL World Series, it's intense o-o ) "You're insane!" Ghost skidded to a stop at the edge of the branch after initially jumping to catch the crazy human. Again. However, the shepherd simply watched wide-eyed as Sherlock executed his plan, drifting away on the leaf. Then he bared his teeth in a grin. It was a shame not all the humans he met were like this. Eyes flicking back and forth, the bot targeted his own leaf and jumped after Sherlock

Sherlock craned his neck, looking over his should in time to see Ghost leap. That was good, now they had some chance not to get separated, and he didn't really want to be stuck in a room without a more experienced member. Although he wasn't that much of a new person himself anymore, he realized, and grinned to himself as his leaf righted himself. "Been called worse." He called over his shoulder, in a tone that suggested he didn't care in the slightest. "Still, you did jump after me."

(Ghost and Sherlock are riding fall leaves XD )
"I'mnot going to splat if I hit the ground." Ghost called back, throwing his weight forward to send his leaf sailing back towards Sherlock's. He overshot a little and went soaring past, having to vault another leaf as his ride went sailing under. Then an acorn the size of a beachball hurtled out of the sky, almost clipping him. "Oh yeah, this has so much less risk than climbing the tree."

Sherlock felt a little competitive tug, and he too threw his weight forward. He must have done something wrong though, because his leaf turned stubbornly upside down again and almost dropped him. "Oh, I doubt I would." He answered casually, struggling to right himself. Suddenly, he realized it was mostly his coat's fault. It kept catching the wind and almost killing him, so he managed to let go with one hand long enough to throw it off. Gripping his leaf once more he continued as if nothing had happened. "I'm very small now, weigh next to nothing. Of course, I could still die, but I'd have a better chance."

"Relativity." Ghost recalled back to their previous conversation, shifting back and forth as he attempted to keep his leaf from doing the same thing as Sherlock's had just done. "I had to use the same amount of power to stay aloft as I would have on my own world, which wouldn't be true if gravity had any less effect on us." He shot a quick glance back and up, towards where they had come from. "I believe it's the tree that's disproportionate."
( I could be mistaken in my own assumptions about gravity but I think that's how it works? XD Welcome to science and physics class with TPH
