Czes - living room
Czeslaw blinked his eyes, straightening himself and stepping out from behind the couch arm. "I'm Czeslaw. Czeslaw Meyer." For once, he introduced himself with his real name. When most everyone around here knew it, including Myrnin who had been his biggest potential threat, it was useless to lie. He reached out his right hand to shake. It was becoming apparent that this person not only was a weak threat if any, but they may not have been here before. "If you haven't been here before, maybe I can show you around." He visibly winced after saying that. When had he become so nice? It was an automatic response based on what Firo, one of his guardians, had taught him about manners. Without waiting too long, he pointed to the door to the hallway. "That door is the only way out of this room. It leads you to a hallway that's also safe, but the rooms aren't other than this one. It's called the Paradox House, probably because the whole place is like a paradox."

Gin | Living room | Lark Razzle Dazzle“Oh, don’t worry, I’ve been here before,” said Gin easily, waving a lazy hand in the air. “No need to show me around, I’m a regular.” Door’s the only way out. Leads to a dangerous hallway. This place is called the Paradox House. He could remember that. Door’s the only way out…… Wait. If the door was the only way out of the room, and it just led to a hallway…...where was the exit? Damn...he couldn’t ask. If he was supposed to have been here before, he’d obviously know where the exit was. Slowly, he stood up, and began to make his way to the hallway, keeping one suspicious eye on Czes as he inched past the strange, slightly unsettling child. Then, just as he’d turned to head down the hall, someone appeared out of thin air, right in front of him. “AAAAAAH!” he shouted, jumping backwards, hands in front of his face. He froze like that for a second, realizing what had happened, then lowered his hands, leaning on the nearby arm of the couch and trying to look nonchalant.

Czeslaw - living room - gin and joey
Czeslaw, an experienced liar, could tell that Gin had no idea where he was or what was going on, no matter how big he talked. He watched the man head for the hallway, intent on letting him find out for himself why that was a bad idea. Thankfully, Joey appearing stopped him in his tracks. "Just give it up," he sighed quietly, letting his typical childish facade slip for just a moment. It returned quickly though and he approached the other two. The only reason he had cowered from Gin was because the house had caught him off guard. But now, there seemed to be nothing to worry about. The boy looked up at Joey curiously; at his stature, the look probably came off as a shy one. "It's someone new," he informed the other blinker, who he recalled seeing around here before. He was trying to prompt Joey to help explain everything to Gin.

Kelsier | Trust Exercise Room | striderOnce they were both down, Kelsier wondered whether the house would let them out. Could it really be that simple? He had assumed there would be other challenges to face, monsters maybe, or chasms, but he realized that wasn’t necessarily how the House worked. It seemed to squeeze them until they gave it some entertainment, then let them go. The question was what it would find entertaining. Dropping Nico, probably. Kelsier almost snorted, because there was no way in hell he was doing that. There had been a few close, heart-pounding calls already, and he wasn’t going to play the House’s game any more than he had to. Unfortunately, he did, in fact, have to. There was no other way forward. Kelsier lowered the rope, remembered to go a little faster, and lowered it a little more. What was Nico thinking about? His mind was probably fairly occupied by his current situation, but there was no way he wasn’t thinking about the man literally holding his life with both hands. They both knew that if Kelsier was lying and he did hold a grudge against Nico, then it would be as easy as letting go to end it. What they didn’t both know for sure was that Kelsier would die before he did anything of the kind, even if he had once taken the life he was now protecting with everything he had. He wished he could make Nico believe that, but there was nothing but time that could do it, so he was going to have to wait as patiently as he could. When Kelsier wasn’t in the House, his life was both simpler and more complicated. Simpler because he didn’t worry so much about which side people were on, he knew that already. He knew who belonged where in his mind like he knew the color of his hair and the feeling of metals burning in his stomach, it was familiar and it made sense. In the House things were a little bit harder, though he didn’t think it was because the sides were any less defined. He had just been here for a shorter amount of time and wasn’t quite used to it all yet. As soon as he was used to it...well. Then he’d have a better idea of how to judge people. More complicated because he had more to do. More responsibility. He was a hero in his own world, and here he was just another blinker with no overarching plans or missions to achieve. Just rooms, and people to talk to. People he wanted to get to know better. Including Nico. He cared about the boy, there wasn’t anything he could do about that now, but he also only knew his secrets. He didn’t know what Nico’s favorite food was, whether he liked art and music, what he thought about other kids….he wanted to know the unimportant details as much as he wanted to know anything else, and the House had stolen Nico’s ability to tell him those things before anything deeper. They were forced to work backwards, and it wasn’t fair. Not that he expected to become more than not-enemies with Nico anyway. He was surprised they had come as far as they had already, he didn’t expect much more to come from this relationship, and he was grateful that he’d at least had the chance to try and make things right. Not grateful to the House though. He would never be grateful to the House, not after what it had done to them. He hated the House, and no amount of “good rooms” was going to change that. Some said Kelsier didn’t care, but the truth was, he cared too much. He cared about people he’d never met so much he risked his life daily to save them. He cared about Nico, I’m spite of everything. He didn’t even expect Nico to care about him back, because that wasn’t how feelings worked. It wasn’t a transaction, it was just...emotions doing whatever they wanted. And usually for Kelsier, what they wanted was to become too attached, feel too much, and demand he try to save the world. He heard Nico’s voice, but he couldn’t make out what he was saying. He was still talking though, so he was probably fine. That’s what Kelsier decided to assume, anyway, because there wasn’t much he could do about it if he wasn’t. Besides, he thought the rope would have gone limp if Nico had fallen, and he couldn’t imagine what else might have happened to him. He hoped there wasn’t anything else. Be optimistic. He chided himself, letting down more rope. And then, suddenly, the weight was gone and Kelsier stiffened. He hadn’t heard anything, but Nico had been retry far down. Had he just fallen…? Kelsier hesitated, then ran for the edge and looked over. It was very far down, he realized with a jolt of fear. Then panic, as he failed to spot Nico immediately, and the worst case scenario sliced into his brain. Then he spotted a splash of black against the stone, not red, and he allowed himself to breathe again, because Nico was alive, he wasn’t mush at the bottom of the mountain, and it was going to be fine. Unless something went wrong when Kelsier went down. That wasn’t going to happen though, he wouldn’t let it happen. It was going to work out because he decided it would. How to tell Nico he was coming down…. Kelsier hesitated. There wasn’t much he could do. He went back and secured the rope, tugging on it to make sure it would hold him, then paced, trying to think. How could he send a message? Eventually, he pulled on the rope, until he was reasonable sure it wasn’t touching the ground. Taking a deep breath, he prepared himself mentally and physically, then dropped the rope back down and waited just a moment before he hung on and slowly lowered himself off the ledge. It was far more terrifying to be in someone else’s hands than in his own. But Nico wasn’t going to drop him. He was going to trust him, so they would both get out of this I’m one piece.

Vince - Living Room
Vincent carefully watched Ougi’s back as she started towards the hallway, not looking towards the Doctor as the woman asked what he was talking about. He, instead, kept his gaze fixed on the student as she neared the hall entrance, a slight grin on his face as he tried to read her response. From her words alone, he had little left of anything to do but to assume that she’d solved the case after blinking out, and that whatever had happened was now in the past. She hardly seemed fazed by what she’d apparently ‘solved’, which was entirely what he’d been expecting, but her brief pause to consider his words - whatever the reason behind it had been - made him curious. “Ah,” he said simply, assuming that the answer to the mystery, should it be of any importance, could come up again in later; as he believed it was better to milk the discussion for as long as he could if he wanted to find out more about this student. She seemed dangerously competent, after all. With that, he gave the Doctor a sideways glance and smirk, then proceeded after Ougi into the room of her choosing.

The Doctor | Hallway | Des/Raz
The Doctor followed after Ougi, though she was keeping tabs on Vincent. He said nothing to her, probably to see if it would annoy her. It did, just a little, but now wasn't the time for that. Instead, The Doctor approached the door and waited for Vincent and Ougi to enter the room. She could have left them in there. The mix of personalities was probably very unusual right now. She looked back, sure she'd heard people blink in behind her. But the thought really didn't cross her mind. Instead, she approached the door, pulled it open a bit more, and then entered the room behind the others.

Madoka blinked into the middle of the living room. Half of her pink hair was down while the other side was being fumbled with as her hands worked the red ribbon around it. Another ribbon dangled lightly from her teeth, and she seemed to reach for something before she almost tipped over the armrest of the couch. Catching herself, the rest of her hair came loose and after a steadying breath she glanced up and around, a smile curving her lips. It felt like it had been awhile, but...that couldn't be right, it was only a few days ago she'd last blinked. She hummed her thoughts to herself, scanning what appeared to be an empty house.

Lark dawn | Flandre Scarlet | Living RoomNext to the pink magical girl, another magical girl appeared-- albeit of a very different, undead kind. The blonde's wings were fluttering softly, familiar piercing red eyes and pale blonde hair marking her as the colorful vampire that many house veterans would recognize. Flandre had been bouncing a rubber ball against a wall in her room, clearly having been bored out of her skull. Unfortunately, her new positioning meant that Madoka was exactly where the wall had previously been at home. As such, the ball went shooting straight towards the chest of the other girl. Flandre gasped out in fear, knowing very well by now that her strength (especially when she was bored) was too much for a human. What if she hurt her by mistake-?! Not that there was much time to move out of the way, given that due to how much strength Flandre had used to hurtle it, the ball was going at a ridiculous speed.

"It is," Myrnin agreed. His expression had shifted almost at once as soon as Hange made their comment. "I wonder what sort of things are usual for the living room, however? I've had a couple odd returnings ..." But like this? This really was unusual. He leaned forward, fingers brushing against the window. Then he pulled away. "I'm going to test something. Stay here for a second. I want to know if I can leave the building while someone is still in it." He was at the door in less than a second and had it open within that time. He blinked out at the low light of the familiar living room, stepping out into it. Then he closed the door behind him and turned to look at the building. It looked like it was half fused with the wall around it. A bit of the living room was just gone, replaced by this structure. "Hange!" he said excitedly. "This is so cool!" This could happen? Did that mean there was a room in the living room? Would it stay there if they both exited it? (We can blink them out at any point you want, of course. ^^ )

That first statement didn't come across to Myrnin as ... peaceful. Which was probably L's intent, but still made him shift in his seat. He had never trapped anyone. But it sounded to him like L was trying to make some sort of connection between Myrnin's actions and the game. He didn't move until he was sure he could take one of the blocks without his hand jerking from any more to-the-point statements. He took one of the blocks, a bit of a risky option since it wasn't one of the loose fitting ones, before saying, "Are you referring to our most recent interaction or the room no one ever speaks of anymore?" He spun the block between his fingers, looking at it rather than L. "Assuming the first ... I didn't. I never resigned myself to one option while within that room. Just one person. I could only be sure of my own thoughts and actions. I didn't pick my choice until I had been in the room long enough to ascertain my own concerns." He set the block down. "You only gave yourself one option within the Murder Mystery Room. How long did it take you to decide?" Myrnin's voice was neutral. He wasn't mad. He just thought he knew how L had gotten to a conclusion.

Will | Art Room | <Raintalon> Will looked over at Mei, smiling a little bit. She was nice, which he had come to almost expect among people in the House. With the exception of Hook, it seemed. He had really only met nice people… Ougi, Rex, Duck, Dipper, Arthur… and now Mei. No, he definitely liked this place, even if it could be scary at times. It was no scarier than his world had suddenly become, that was for certain. Will shook the thought away, taking a step back so he could examine his drawing. It looked as done as it was going to get. One look over at Mei’s drawing just made his smile widen. “Thanks! You’re so good at art!” he exclaimed, turning his head to look at her. “I’m glad I got to draw with you.”

Atreus - Living Room
Atreus blinked into the living room, the hard surface of the boat seat abruptly disappearing beneath him as he sunk into the cushions of the couch. His feet had been swinging absently while in his world, and they continued to for a moment, though they stopped when he noticed he was somewhere new. “Oh,” he said softly, his face slowly lighting up. With a newfound smile, the boy looked around the room curiously; taking the time to check the soft surface beneath him, and then scan the floor for whatever company the house was going to give him. As he waited, he pulled his feet up onto the couch, letting his weight pull him backwards and into the depths of the cushions - feeling remarkably comfortable amongst the pillows with the likes of which his world could never supply. Everything seemed to have a way of feeling softer here.

Orpheus | Living Room (Time Nonsense for Orpheus oops) | ~∂єѕтιиу “-Mister Hermes, what…” Orpheus trailed off as he noticed the House, a small smile flitting across his features. For all L had warned him about, for the room he had gone through with Kelsier, he couldn’t help the fact that the idea of the House was exciting, and so far he hadn’t met anyone he didn’t want to see again. They were all people he never would have met otherwise, and they all had interesting things to say, and Orpheus didn’t think it was quite fair that his conversation with each of them kept getting cut short by whatever force in the House decided that blinking was the best way to handle people getting in and out of the House. If they could leave when they wanted… well, that was just wishful thinking. But it would’ve been ideal. When Orpheus turned his head, however, he was somewhat shocked to see a boy. The idea of other adults blinking in made sense. They were able to handle this on top of whatever their world had to throw at them, and he had never really considered that there might be kids blinking in as well. He offered the boy a smile, adjusting his guitar so it rested against his back – much more convenient for actually moving around and interacting with people.

Atreus - Living Room
Atreus perked up as someone arrived, watching the stranger with wide eyes as the man registered his surroundings. When Orpheus faced him he was sure to acknowledge him with the same smile of greeting, giving a soft; “humph,” as he sat up from the couch cushions. “Hi,” he said happily, taking a quick look over the new figure’s strange possessions and clothing. He tilted his head to follow the motion of Orpheus’s guitar as it was moved behind his back, curious as to what the instrument was. He let his feet slip back off the couch, kicking again as he struggled to maintain his energy. His father had been keeping him shushed on the boat, but the friendly smile of the stranger seemed like a promising opportunity to let out some of his excitement. “Where are you - oh, first, my name’s Atreus. What’s yours?”

Orpheus | Living Room (Time Warp) | ~∂єѕтιиу “Hello,” Orpheus returned, grateful to have gotten what seemed to be a more relaxed greeting from the child. If the boy had been scared… well, Orpheus wasn’t quite sure what he would have done. He probably would have just hoped that music would solve the problem. “My name is Orpheus,” Orpheus replied, not dropping his smile. “I’m from Thrace. On Earth, I suppose.” He wasn’t really used to stating the planet, but the House was odd. He hadn’t heard of any of the places that other people were from, so he doubted anyone would have heard of Thrace. Earth, best he could tell, seemed like a popular planet to be from, though. “Nice to meet you, Atreus. Where are you from?” Orpheus had never spent much time around kids, but that was alright. He figured if he just treated Atreus like a small adult with a little bit more of the childlike wonder that Orpheus himself had maintained… things should go smoothly enough. Probably.

Ougi - statue room - vince, the doctor
The sound of chirping birds faded in and out of earshot overhead. Ougi’s flat brown shoes, part of her school uniform, were stepping onto broad stone tiles now that formed a square path around a center of grass. In this center were tall hedges that overshadowed life-size marble sculptures. These statues were only made threatening at this point by the wall around the path to keep them inside. It was metal, and at least the height of a two-story building. “My my, what a lovely place,” Ougi commented, as if it had feelings and she had to accommodate them. But she never made compliments in earnest, even to real people, and it was apparent in her voice. She waltzed up to the nearest sculpture, which was a person with long flowing hair reaching down for a hunting bow at their feet. She was already planning to touch it carelessly, for closer inspection.

Atreus - Living Room
Atreus scooted closer to the end of the cushions, nodding along with the man’s answer. “I’ve heard of Earth from the other blinkers. It’s weird that most of you from there look pretty different though.” He thought back briefly to some of the others he’d spoken to about Earth, knocking his feet against the bottom edge of the couch as he pondered. At the returned query, the boy smiled again. “Nice to meet you too, Orpheus. I’m from Midgard, which, from what I’ve heard, is a little like Earth but with more magic. Then again, some blinkers from Earth have more magic than others, so I’m not really sure. Do you have magic on the Earth you’re from?”

Vincent - Statue Room
Vincent followed into the room behind the student, glancing upwards as fresh air engulfed what he had expected to be an enclosed space. It was hardly refreshing, however, as his gaze was drawn down towards the statues in the center grass in just a few moments after entering. In an instant, the clean air seemed to become stagnant with the eerie atmosphere, though it caused no hesitation for the man as he entered the space with a curious expression. He tracked around the grass in the center for a few paces, looking around thoroughly, before coming to a halt somewhere in the middle of the path extending towards the right. He watched as Ougi moved to one of the statues, eyebrows raising in surprise at her brashness but not acting to stop her.

Vincent easily ignored the vexed expression that crossed her face, pretending not to notice how rapidly he had gotten on her nerves. To have the ghoul frustrated with him could be a convenient advantage - should she allow her attitude to disorientate her thought process and cause her to make reckless decisions. Even if she ended up working well in her current state, all her bristling and sighs would still be enough to satisfy the man. At her suggestion he glanced around briefly, then looked back at her. “What would we use dice for?” He asked, more seriously. “Explain the rules.” He added lightly, tone not very commanding although he was certainly curious how she’d respond to such a blatant command. L’s eyes were steady as they rested on Myrnin, not even looking away to see which block he chose to remove. They were both playing a dangerous game here, and the blocks had nothing to do with it. And he was playing both games as though he thought he could win. You could win at Jenga. All it took was the other person making a mistake, or more to the point, you not making one. Make one wrong move and the game would end, and no one wanted to be under the tower when it fell. His eyes widened just a little at the next question. It was blunt, to the point, and not entirely expected. He paused, thinking it over carefully, and didn’t answer. He let Myrnin assume he meant the first option, and listened to his answer, fingers tapping the table in a restless rhythm. “You were impulsive and acted emotionally.” He said bluntly. “And I believed it was you, because I believe you’re capable of worse. I was wrong in that room, though. And I am sorry for that.” If it pained him to admit he was wrong, he hid it well. It was more like he was puzzled with himself, unsure of how he’d managed to mess up so badly, and maybe a little bit shaken in his self-confidence. His dark gaze flicked away from the vampire’s face and to the tower, and he reached forward, his fingers closing around a block. He wasn’t playing it safe anymore. The tower trembled as he slid it free, but it didn’t fall. “I came to that conclusion almost immediately.” He admitted without hesitation. “Because of all the people in that room, you were the one I trusted the least.” He didn’t mean “liked the least”, or he would have said that. The truth was, he still liked Myrnin, still wanted to be his friend deep down. But trust? That had been broken when his heart stopped beating.
