There was definitely relief when Zacharie seemed to abandon the backpack, though the sudden splintering of the log caused a the fur to raise on the back of his neck before he reached to smooth it down, letting his nails linger as he gave a scratch as he listened, brow furrowing further the more that was said. 'Don't think too hard about it' seemed to be the takeaway here, but it didn't make the confusion any less. "So...there are different worlds?" He felt like there could be a science answer to this, but that wasn't something he would try and dwell on. At least it was noted he wasn't considered missing from his home, though not knowing when or how he'd get back didn't sit really well. He guessed there wasn't anything he could do about it.
His eyebrows raised when he got called interesting, but he seemed to shrug it off. He really wasn't interesting, or he tried not to be. Unless things were really different for other worlds. The merchant had already mentioned ghosts and something else that he didn't know; this really was hard to wrap his head around. "Oh, right. Um, thank you for explaining all of that," Legosi said, dipping his head a bit. It was still difficult to take everything in, but he supposed there were worse things that could have happened. At least, wherever this place resided, he got to sit by a nice fire and have a calm chat. "I'm Legosi, by the way."

Sam | Lodge Outside | Sherlock, Ougi, anyone near the lodge entrance There was a very large squawk from Samuel's lips as literally everything changed. Ice whipped past his face, small scratches forming along his face and arms. What was this place? What could it even do? The wind blasted around him, reminding him of a dream but far more real. "Wha ..." he said, voice trailing out behind him. He liked it less that the body had come along with them, though whatever Ougi might have intended it didn't look like it had worked. When he'd caught enough breath that he could actually talk, he said, "What are you doing!" It was more of an exclamation than a question. He looked over at Ougi and tried to even out his breathing, even though he seemed to feel the tightness in his chest growing at every second. "I was trying to help! You looked like you were ... I don't know ... concerned or something!" Not that he could tell emotions very much at all with Ougi, but he was trying. She had them, she seemed to be aghast now, that was for sure. "I was worried about you!" That at least was true ...

(I almost lost all of this reply. @.@ ) Considering the fact that both The Doctor and Matt seemed to have the same instinct to get in front of the blinkers and face the weapons, it was amazing that they didn't run into each other. The Doctor glanced sideways at Matt, her lips growing a bit thin with concern, but she let him speak. This also meant he was the first to notice Volt and the ready weapons. "Hold on," hissed The Doctor. "No weapons. I have one rule and it's no weapons. Put it away. It isn't gonna help anyone." Of course she knew that someone was going to point out that the House generated people had weapons, but that was besides the point. They all still didn't seem to be listening to Matt, but that was mostly because Volt and Ononoki had both captured their combined attention. The Doctor could hear a very defined sound of weapons priming. "I really do think it has to go this way," said one of the people who The Doctor was really starting to think sounded like several beings she'd met in the past. Which was very infuriating. "Harm or no, our pilots are missing and your story doesn't check out with what our ship is capable of." The Doctor pointed at what she assumed was a captain of some sort. "Ya. Ya're in charge. Why not just properly question us instead of threatening, yeah?" What she could see of eyes - or at least the lights she assumed were eyes - under the visor flickered to what the other House generated people had pulled out of the cargo hold of the ship. The Doctor recognized that look. It was an 'you've seen too much' or 'we think you've seen too much' look. "Hold up," she started, really hoping she'd get a word in edgewise. But Matt hadn't been able to defuse the situation and neither had she. There was a sound from one of the nearest weapon, like something whistling a long way away, and a bright flash burst from the side of it, heading for Volt. The Doctor tensed, ready to order them to run ... Only for the House generated people to run instead, away from them. Still firing, of course. The Doctor grabbed Matt's collar, pulling him down and to the side. The idiot was still in the line of fire, but most of it seemed to be focused on Volt. What had happened? What was in that case they were carrying? "Just our luck if that's our way outta here," she muttered. She really wanted to run after them right now. Everything in her itched to do it. But first she glanced around, trying to check that everyone was okay. (So I figured that no matter what they do it can be in the direction of an exit. Depends on you all what happens. The Doctor will follow the majority. ^^ )

Zacharie - lodge - legosi
The merchant nodded eagerly. “Different worlds, of all shapes and sizes. I have yet to encounter one that uses credits...” The enthusiasm was redirected into a sort of dejected aside then. It truly was a pity no one else in the Paradox House shared his currency; his sales could have been through the roof. The fire popped like a firework and it sent Zacharie jumping nearer to the couch, as if enacting revenge for snapping the wood. “I’m sorry,” he told the fire, as deliberately as someone would say to a person. When he neared Legosi he cleared his throat as if he had not just been afraid of a fire in a fireplace. Even as such a scaredy-cat, it was obvious now he was oblivious that Legosi was supposed to be more menacing. “You’re very welcome. Legosi? That’s a very interesting name.” Again, calling the wolf boy interesting. Zacharie’s pitch changed slightly to signify his smile, and he extended one hand toward his new acquaintance. “I’m Zacharie. If I haven’t already mentioned, I’m a merchant. Whatever you need, I’ve got just the thing.”

Charlie withdrew their hand quickly after they’d taken Kai’s the desire to end the physical contact almost overwhelming. They managed to seem pretty cool and collected about it though, so hopefully they’d made a good first impression. “Witch, Huh? Cool.” They replied, smiling back at the older newbie. They were more relieved then they let on that he seemed to have bought it without any suspicion, which did mean they would have to introduce themself as a werewolf to pretty much everyone now, but that was a prove they were willing to pay. Of course, they had no way of knowing that a lack of magic was a dead giveaway. They hadn’t even known magic existed until a couple minutes ago, and thought they were willing enough to believe it was real, they didn’t have a clue how it was supposed to work. The blank books, for example, could have been cursed or something and they hadn’t thought about avoiding physical contact with them until it was too late. Oops. They gave a short laugh, missing the way Kai turned his back for a minute completely. He seemed nice enough. Maybe they really would have a friend here, to help them figure out what was going on. “Good question.” They said lightly, grinning right back at him. “Maybe there isn’t even a moon here at all. Maybe we should find a way out of this building and find out for ourselves.” They had another question, but they weren’t quite sure how nosy they dared be with a stranger. Actually, scratch that, nosiness was not a personality trait they even pretended to have any control over. “So you’re part of a pair of witches, right? Is the other one, like, your sibling?” They questioned, and scanned his face for any sign of what he thought about the question. “Who are they?”

There was certainly a curiosity that lingered over what other kinds of worlds could be like, or just how different they were. After already encountering Zacharie, Legosi wondered perhaps if he was the only one of his kind in this place.
The popping fire broke the wolf out of his thoughts, blinking fast as Zacharie jumped near him, his head again tipping to one side. Legosi was used to those types of reactions...just in a different way. "...is it?" To be honest, he found Zacharie to be the more interesting one, still unable to tell the species he was supposed to be behind that frog mask. His ears swiveled forward when a hand was presented to him, and Legosi glanced down at his long nails before lifting his own hand, his mindfulness quite apparent when he gingerly took Zacharie's to shake. "Ah, is that so?" Though his thinking went back to the meat comment at first, maybe it was just business for him, not that that made it sit any better for Legosi. "Maybe another time I could see." He'd be polite about it at any rate, as he didn't even know what things he could even need, and Zacharie seemed nice enough with everything.

Zacharie - lodge - legosi
Legosi was presented with an enthusiastic shake, Zacharie not at all acknowledging the other blinker's clawed hand. "It is!" His assurance was unwavering. He puffed out his chest and crossed his arms, nodding with certainty. "This place doesn't translate names, but it does translate language. For example, I'm speaking French." One hand slipped out of the arm-cross to touch his chest with the tips of his fingers, just over the heart shape printed on his turtleneck, and then his index pointed to Legosi. "What language do you speak?"
"Another time another time, worry not. I've been around here a long time compared to most, so if information and advice are what you're after I am available for those as well." Even through his welcoming ranting-or at least ranting with welcoming intent-this was when the merchant noticed Legosi's bashfulness; one might even say the wolf was nervous about something more than being teleported to an unfamiliar place. That wouldn't be out of the question. It could be that this newcomer was like Zacharie, and happened to teleport often enough in his own world that it was not jarring at all to be in the Paradox House. So then what else was making him uncomfortable? "Heh, I'm sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. Perhaps I should have asked what you even are? There are so many species other than humans around here that I have put it out of my mind to make distinctions."

"Eh, really?" That hadn't even crossed his mind with all the different world musings, of course there'd be other languages as well. "French, huh? I speak Japanese," he then said. "You spoke so naturally I wouldn't have thought it was different." To be able to understand each other so seamlessly sure was fascinating. It definitely made things easier too, especially with the idea that everyone came from other places.
After having his head back, Legosi placed it under his chin. More information would be nice, he thought, though wasn't sure what exactly he should ask next. As Zacharie continued, he focused back on the merchant, who was quickly hitting one of his puzzlements over the head, but found a more confusing term. "Hu...mans? S-Sorry, I've never heard of that. I'm a gray wolf, um...are you an herbivore?"

"Strange." Julius simply said in response. He wondered what the science behind it was, but he figured the science in the human's world was different than in Theia's, given that those kinds of feats were even possible. Julius probably wouldn't understand the exact physiology behind it, and that was implying that Vincent knew himself. "My world can piece together certain body parts, but we can't bring back the dead." His tail continued to smack down against the ground, almost as if it was wagging. It seemed like he was starting to pick up some of the pup's habits. The cool temperatures were quite perfect for Julius, and the view continued to put him in quite a good mood. Vincent nodded, seeming to understand. The technology that allowed him to reanimate was still a relatively new science, particularly in it’s success - though the concept of puzzling people back together had been used for quite a while. The medical field moved rapidly in it’s advancements in his word, especially in recent years where experimentation knew little bounds. The blond glanced down as Julius moved his tail, then looked out to the sky again. “What does your world consist of, statistically? Which of us would be the oddity in the eyes of the general population?” "You mean demographically." Julius didn't look at Vincent right away. He wondered if he was able to dig through the cloud, but when he lowered his hand, he was unable to make any progress. The cloud was soft, but also firm. That was probably a good thing, at least for Vincent. Julius could guess the human was referring to his animal parts. "Neither." He continued poking into the cloud-ground with his index finger, pleased with the feeling. The viper should ask the old man if he could make a stress-ball of sorts made out of a cloud. "Regular Theians aren't part animal, and look just like you. How often you see us depends on what part of the world, or country, you live in." He recalled his sister's hometown was mostly Theian, with few Demitheians and Semitheians. Everywhere else he's been in Elisia seemed full of the latter. "If you meant magically, it's the same thing. Some of us have it, some don't."

Zacharie - lodge - legosi
"Japanese!" Zacharie exclaimed. "Some of my good friends here are Japanese. Perhaps you'll meet them. I've met wolves here too, but they typically stand on all-fours instead of upright like you." The thought suddenly overcame him that he should get to know more of the French-speaking blinkers in the Paradox House, but that was for another time. The thought of being an herbivore made Zacharie laugh aloud. "No no, I'm not an herbivore. That would be cows and such, correct?" Cows, cats, and birds were some of the few animals he was familiar with. Even regarding wolves, he only met them when he blinked in here. "Humans are the most common species here." Although he had met blinkers before who had never encountered one in their world. "We stand upright, are practically furless, and have flat faces without muzzles or beaks." At that the merchant did something he rarely did in the Paradox House, and would never do in his own world, and lifted his mask halfway to show his mouth and nose to Legosi before lowering it again. "Wearing clothes is also a human characteristic, but I see that you do the same," he added with a gesture to the wolf's uniform.
As if Zacharie hadn't already given Legosi the wrong impression of the Paradox House, as something warm and inviting where strangers can meet amicably, he took a platter of snacks from the hot chocolate table and brought it to put between the wolf and the fireplace as a shared offering. The merchant wiggled his fingers whilst deciding what to try first, always eager to taste new things that didn't exist in his world. Cheese, crackers, cured meats, and berries. "I'm surprised we're alone. This place is usually quite crowded... But I did see some others just outside!" The end of his phrase was mumbled as he brought a cracker up under his mask.

Volt | Spaceship Room | mintedstar/fur <Raintalon> Razzle Dazzle“Lady,” Volt replied, exasperated, “you must be blind.” The Tenno didn’t elaborate on whether she was referencing the weapons already pointed at them or the fact her species was effectively a walking war crime. Either way the “no weapons” rule had been broken a long time ago. Besides, was pretty clear that communication had broken down regardless of the attempts by Matt and The Doctor to calm the situation. A few moments later, Volt noticed The Doctor tense and drew her swords despite the woman’s order. Electricity crackled around her hands and along the edge of the blades as she managed to get one up in time to deflect the first shot. The second shot, fired by a different guard, glanced off of the Tenno’s left shoulder, gouging a black scorch mark into her armor and causing her to stagger. She took one more hit the arm before getting her swords back up to defend herself. Taking a few steps forward, Volt tried to draw fire away from the others, but the shots were wild now as the guards started to flee. Confused and ticked off, she took a second to glance at the rest of the little squad, checking to make sure they were all in one piece. That’s when she overheard The Doctor. “You want the box?” Volt asked her. The Tenno’s voice was clipped, no-nonsense. “I’ll get you the box.” Instead of slowing her down, the damage had just seemed to provide more incentive. She took off like a shot, leaving sparks in her wake. The goal was to reach the guards before they teleported, there would be no catching them after that. Dropping into a slide, Volt swept the blunt edge of her blades forward and out, attempting to knock the guards off their feet.

Ononoki - spaceship room - matt, the doctor, volt
Ononoki blinked slowly at the mention of her being related to Matt. “Cousin...” she murmured softly. As far as she was concerned, it was true now that he said it. She blinked again slowly when the House-generated enemies started firing their weapons, as if that action carried the same weight as someone just talking about her. These people seemed to be running away from the group of blinkers as they fired, and leaving patterns of holes in the ground. Several holes were cut through Ononoki’s dress, as if the shots had deliberately missed her, which was good because she didn’t show any intention to move out of the line of fire.
What are those weapons? The doll wanted to get a closer look, but sensed that it would only cause trouble to stray from the group. Instead, she crouched down next to Matt and the Doctor and watched Volt. The Tenno was impressive to say the least and probably didn’t need Ononoki’s help.

Matt | Spaceship room | mintedstar/fur Razzle Dazzle »ƑαƖcση |"Yeah, just put the weapons d - AGH - " Matt yelped as he was seized, roughly and suddenly, by his shirt collar, and dragged sharply downwards by the Doctor as all hell broke loose in camp. He ducked, hands over his head as the weapons fire started - he wasn't even sure who was firing - and then he struggled free of the Doctor's grip, peering over the edge of their cover to try and see what was going on. "Dammit, dammit..." he said, fingers tapping in agitation against the edge of their hiding spot. "Doc, we gotta stop them. At this rate, somebody's gonna wind up dead - NO!" He started forward in horror as Volt was hit, not knowing how much damage she could take without fatal injury, and stumbled, held back by his earlier injury. He got up again, though, and started towards the fighters at a run, seemingly unconcerned with the risk of getting hit by a stray bullet. "Volt!" he shouted, over the weapons fire. "Dammit, Volt, leave the case! There's four of us and like...eight billion of them!"

Myrnin | Ice Sculpture Room |Numquam Myrnin arched an eyebrow. Then he said in what he assumed was Latin, but was still translated by the House regardless, "Ah yes. The complicated languages. How I hate them." Then he shook his head, still assuming that Eises hadn't heard a word, and asked instead, "So I take it your boss is a good boss?" His expression had narrowed ever so slightly, though it wasn't very clear why. Something to do with the language, perhaps? He'd just be the last to admit that paistra reminded him far too much of a different word. Someone who wanted respect but had never earned it. But he shoved that thought away, like he had always done. He didn't need to dwell on it. "Oh?" he asked drolly. "You have one too, do you?" What an amusing thing to relate with someone over. "The year was acceptable. Chaotic, but acceptable." Myrnin caught both of the gems with ease, holding them in his hand. If they were cold, he couldn't tell. But then again, he couldn't sense cold to begin with. Vampires had no use for such ability. The gems in his hands didn't even start to melt, since his body temperature was similar to the room's. "You must have had a very interesting childhood," he said. "Just making gems? At least tell my you attempted to make a dress out of these?" He held both of them up to his eyes and looked through them, grinning at Eises and finding this all great fun. "Make some pretty fun bobbles for as long as they were actually whole!" He froze (ha ha) as Eises created a mouse that moved. He lowered the ice-gems and looked at it as it ran off, shocked. "That's so cool!" he murmured. Then he glanced back at his current House companion and snorted. "I think they like you!" he said, completely missing the fact that the lion had made a reappearance and was now chasing Eises' ice-mouse with great, excited abandon. He did notice after a second and curiously watched the large beast. "Wonder if any of them are going to attack us," he said. "So far they don't seem to be interested in what we're doing. How sad. They don't know how very interesting we are." He glanced back at Eises and grinned. "What else can you do?" Eises did not hesitate to nod with a smile. "She's strict and powerful, but she's really nice too." Alistra had a sharp tongue who wouldn't hesitate to chew you out, but she was also someone willing to visit and laugh casually with the soldiers during their free times. Thinking about her usually brought a smile to Eises' face, and that's not even mentioning her looks. "Y-Yeah...he's kind of a handful sometimes." She laughed nervously. When Hyacin was set on eating someone, she usually had little control over him. It was hard stopping a 2 ton dragon from barreling over to someone. "Acceptable....is good." "I-Interesting...? Something like that." Eises' gaze became distant for a second before looking back at Myrnin. "What about your childhood?" The next question caught her a little off guard. "Dress?" She laughed, "I've tried making armour out of ice, but that takes a lot of effort and power if you want it to actually work. Never a dress, though." Wouldn't there be gaps in between the gems, showing off skin? Unless he meant an ice dress with flat gems decorating it, rather than physical ice gems. She kept her eyes upwards, only able to see the ice-bird's beak sticking out. With her luck, she was half-expecting it to start pecking at her...or worse. Eises watched as the bird hopped from her head to Myrnin's head. "Maybe they like you too." Her smile was interrupted for a moment when another ice bird landed on her head. Now they both had birds. She did wonder what other animals were in this room. Not all of the sculptures have started moving, but obviously others have. She watched as the ice-monkey from earlier jumped onto the ground and started tugging on Myrnin's legs. "Y-You mean besides my ice magic? Well, I have another magic." She then summoned a long purple crystal. "It has a lot of forms, the other one could probably melt everything in here." Unless these sculptures weren't able to melt, which she wouldn't be surprised. "N-Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen you use any magic. Do you have any?"

Zacharie - lodge - Legosi
Crumbs fell from behind Zacharie’s mask as he crunched the cracker. Ancestors... Could it be that Legosi was an evolved species, which was why he wore human clothes? But Zacharie wasn’t one to pry too much into other blinkers’ worlds. He had figured out by now that there was not much use to assessing the differences, and that they were often far too different from one another. “Carnivores... Ah, no. Humans are omnivores. But... I’m not like the others you’ll see here because I do only eat meat. If you’re asking me specifically, I’m a carnivore.” At this he picked up another cracker, and a few of the berries from the platter. “I like this place because there are foods other than meat I get to try. It’s the opposite of my world. There, we have swimming pools of meat all around.”
“It could be a problem, for them, but it isn’t my business. Besides, if I had gotten any closer to them I could have been killed,” Zacharie argued. He sat cross-legged, with his back to the fire and his pack within reaching distance as if worried someone might steal it. If they could carry it at all, that is. “Don’t you want any?” His voice was completely mild, deliberately neglecting the safety of any of the blinkers outside. From Zacharie’s perspective, they would surely come inside at some point, and if they were wounded it would be an opportune time to sell some of his healing remedies.

Suddenly, the world seemed to turn upside down. Sherlock sucked in a breath as darkness slammed down all around him, and streaks of pain sliced across his face and arms. He could feel tiny cuts opening up all over him but he ignored them and focused on Ougi, who was the center of all of this. She had powers, of course she did, was he surprised? Most people in the House were not regular humans like he was, which wasn’t surprising considering how many different universes joined as one in this place. But enough of that. The threat dimmed almost as soon as it had begun, the shards turning to dust as Ougi seemed to concentrate. Sherlock forced himself to step towards her, eyes narrowed against the wind, as she spoke to them. Ah. Sam was here, too. The detective shot the boy a quick glance, decided he wasn’t in immediate danger, and turned back to Ougi. “I believe the more relevant question is, what are you doing?” He retorted, and grit his teeth as the wind nearly knocked him over. So it was attached to how she felt, was it? Well, he supposed he better keep her calm, then. “I thought you were doing something with her, and I was right, wasn’t I? What is this, anyway? I’d say you were trying to get information and failed.” He shut up then, John’s voice scolding him for saying something like that in this situation. He was supposed to be diffusing things, not making them worse. “Please do get us out of here.” He agreed, and gave a small, awkward sort of half smile that looked forced. “I don’t really want to suffer death by man-made tornado.”

Ougi - outside lodge - sam, sherlock
Eyes widening, Ougi stared at Samuel shakily, knees starting to creak toward each other as if there was pressure all around her pushing inward. Worried about me? “I-Idiot...” the oddity, as she truly was in this moment while surrounded by shadow, looked away from him and narrowed her eyes out of irritation. That only revealed to her that Sherlock was present with them. A slice through her hair of a stray icicle shard made her jump.
“What am I doing?” There was disappointment in her face, but only for herself. How had she managed to drag them into this? How were they still alive? She had only once brought herself into this place before, not to mention anyone else. Her knees finally buckled and fell to the ground—making a ground. Gravity flipped and put its rules into place with a jolt. Sherlock had been perfectly correct about her intentions, and her level of success. “You’re not gonna die in here. But I might kill you when we get out!” she scolded. And that was what she was working on presently. She averted her eyes to them both, even when she was trying to intimidate them. In reality, it was only because she didn’t want to see them with their cuts and scratches. “Stay still. If you move a muscle I can’t get us all out of here in one piece...” At that, her arms began to strain less and the wind slowly began to wane.

~Shilo Saga~ Location: The Hallway ☠ Interactions: Crutchie (strider ) ☠ Mentions:N/A Shilo took a few seconds to look over the optimistic boy. There was no reason to deny what he was saying. Shilo's world was dangerous, but only more dangerous to her and her Team because they put themselves into dangerous situations. In reality, her world was no more dangerous than Crutchie's, unless you wanted to count technological weapon advancements. But from what she remembered of her son's world, the dangers of every day life weren't the issue, but the fact that the world wasn't going to survive for much longer. She had no idea how time passed over there, but if he wasn't blinking in anymore, she didn't have much hope that Félix was still alive. But was that something she wanted to discuss with her son's best friend, especially now when she just started blinking again? Or did she try to hold on to the joy of it all?
"Right, that's a good point." It had only taken her a moment to run through that thought process, deciding not to bring up the more pessimistic side of things. At the mention of how long she'd been away, Shilo just shrugged. "Yeah, it's a while I guess. I'm not going to lie, it was almost easier not coming here. Not emotionally, of course. I thought about everyone all the time. But I didn't have to worry about fighting, blinking in and out during interrogations, or missions in general. My relationship with my Team accelerated a lot, since I kind of figured out how to open up thanks to people here." The assassin couldn't help but laugh at the thought that her friendships with the Team only happened the way that they did because of people like Kaia, Enjolras, Neb, Arlo, Danny, and so many of the others. Though, she didn't comment on the dangers of her world. But the short answer was, it hadn't gotten any better. In fact, it had gotten worse. But it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. Luckily, Crutchie was good at asking questions and moving the topics along.
"Uh, I saw Arlo," another smile danced across Shilo's lips. "But that's about it so far. I'm hoping to run into a few of the others eventually. If they're still here...that is..." She'd been trying hard not to think about who was here and who wasn't, but sometimes it couldn't be avoided. "And if not, then I guess I have some new friends to make." Losing people was hard, and it could be harder on Shilo than anyone really seemed to realize. But, there was a kind of comfort in knowing that the House was still filled with people that she could get to know just as well as the others before. _____________________________________________________________ Location: Living Room ♊︎ Interactions: Charlie Rhyse (®Hawkpath® ) ♊︎ Mentions: N/A "Yeah, I like to think so," but Kai left out one of the problems with the kind of witch he was. The twenty-two year old looked at the kid a bit surprised, looking him over for a moment as a realization washed over him. Maybe the kid was actually a werewolf, but hadn't turned yet. That would explain the lack of magic. And being in a strange house with a stranger, a witch no less, it would make sense that a kid would try to play off that he had changed. Damn, he was really starting to lose his touch. Too excited about the prospect of getting a taste of magic again.
A smile spread across Kai's lips as the kid started to ask more questions. God, it had been too long since he got to talk about himself and of course he had made the mistake of some how making the conversation about her. Whatever, he just needed to get back into having normal conversations again. "Yup, twin actually. Which is, like, a huge thing in our family. Twins are kind of important. I was actually about to be made the most important witch in the family until I realized they were betraying me." He seemed unusually flippant about the entire thing, until the last few words when his voice hardened a bit to show his annoyance.
As he spoke, Kai walked toward the door of the room, poking his head out to look down the Hallway to see the many doors that lined it. He expected the younger to just follow him, so he merely stepped out into the Hallway and started down it, and stopped in front of the closest door to his right. His survival instinct told him to be cautious, but his curiosity and his need to see more of this strange place was a bit overwhelming.

| Eurydice | Worst Cooks in America the House |
Eurydice took another bite of the peach and began rummaging through the cupboards, loading up her arms with bags and boxes of food. She put the peach in her mouth and balanced a glass jar of brown sugar on top of her pile. Then, she turned and headed back to her station. She unloaded the piled of stuff on one side of the counter provided, then hopped up and sat on the other side, her legs dangling in the air. She took the peach out of her mouth and took another bite, more than half finished with it now. Leaning back on one hand, she looked over at the other two contestants. The boy was making bread and butter. The creepy man was going for some cooking utensil, though she hadn't seen him grab any food yet. That was stupid. Who didn't go for food the moment they got a chance to?
Weighing it over in her mind, she hesitantly spoke to the man. "Eurydice. What's yours, creepy dude?"

(Sorry if this is messy. I've been sick. DX) Forgotten Shrine | zeph!"And you have no need to be so modest." Came the candid response of his own. The guilt he bore didn't completely fade from his scuffed face, but Spinel was able to assuage it with her reassurance. Sandalphon closed his eyes, and allowed his mouth to form a weak smile. While his words and tone didn't exactly indicate so, he was, in his own way, showing that her modesty was welcome. Almost in reply to the gem's question, a blue glow began emitting from the heart of the cloud of debris shrouding the Primarch's double. Sensing the influx of magic behind him, the real one let out a sigh. Hmph. Figured we wouldn't have too long a wait until it was up again. Alright, I'm ready for it this time."Hmm. Can't say that I'm sure." He said, trying to come up with an, at least somewhat, useful answer for her. He continued on, while at the same time turning to face the direction of what he presumed would be danger. "These copies must be here for a reason. I can't help but think they're connected with this room's solution somehow." The dust permeating the air was suddenly blown outward and away by a strong gust of wind from within, momentarily buffeting the others in the room. The archangel quickly lifted an arm to shield himself from the incoming dirt, focusing attentively on what awaited beyond once his view was no longer hindered. Standing there with his wings flared out was, of course, the imitation Primarch. No longer was his head hidden beneath his hood, which had came loose to fully reveal a visage distorted with hatred. His red irises darted between his real version and Spinel's copy, studying them both as if trying to decide which one he wanted to set his ire on first. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't allowed to choose. The real one took a step sideways so he was blocking his copy's view of the gems, aiming another challenging stare straight right at it. In response to this, the fake only sneered, looking more entertained then threatened. "You would get in my way? Again? For what reason?" He questioned, tone both disgusted and genuinely confused. Head tilting sideways like that of a quizzical dog, what he said next was obviously meant to cut deep. "Wasn't finally learning the truth of your meaningless purpose after having it withheld from you for so long, then spending two thousand years sealed in Pandemonium enough torment? Why subject yourself to more for nothing, but the sake of these mortals, who in the end couldn't care anything less about you?" Little did I know, I wasn't the only one in anguish during that time...While not in the same way the replica archangel intended it to, his words did spark a moment of hesitation with his true self. For a brief instant, an expression of grief flashed across his features, accompanied by that familiar shot of sorrow in his chest. Tch. Allowing this imitation to get to me...Pushing both those thoughts and emotions away, Sandalphon's jaw clenched noticably, this time hinting at the uneasiness he felt about it having no qualms about openly spouting out the more sensitive portions of his history. He knew the doubt it was attempting to sow, and was having none of it. "Because this is the purpose I chose." He countered shortly, accompanying his words with a single shake of his head. "It doesn't matter if they do or not. The important thing is that I ensure their safety from threats like you." A 'you', who was another 'him'... What a headache this whole situation was. The replica angel frowned once he realized his ploy wasn't going to work, starting to take a few steps forward as he choose to not waste anymore breath. Once again, his assemblage of blades were summoned, pointed ahead and ready to strike. All it would take was one gesture, and those two mortal nuisances and the wingless spare would be gone... "I'll try to keep the battle as controlled as I can to prevent you two from getting caught in the middle." Sandalphon turned to sternly look at Spinel over his shoulder, before casting a cautionary glance at her copy as well, still not sure what to really think of her. He really didn't want to leave her unattended with the real one again, but it was looking like he would have no choice. There was no traces of any light-heartedness about him anymore, and his voice was imperative. "I would like to tell you not to worry, but quarters in here will be too tight for this kind of fighting. I can't guarantee that the danger will be completely mitigated, so be careful. Got it?" The replica commanded his weapons forward. "We'll figure out how to get out of here once I manage to subdue... Myself." Skies above, that sounded ridiculous when you said it outloud... Or internally... Or at all. Just when it seemed like the incoming projectiles would hit their intended targets uninterrupted, four more of identical form came from behind where the group stood. Each approaching blade was countered with thunderous crashes, which sent them spiraling off into different directions, after which they all vanished. Amidst the chaos, Sandalphon returned his attention to the foe ahead. A warm golden glow engulfed the Primarch's back, and from it grew six, pure white wings. Along with them, his forgotten sword warped from its place over by the door back into it's sheath, from which it's master drew it again as he entered a battle stance. The instant his copy laid eyes on these new wings, he hesitated, actually showing a emotion that he had yet to ever display. Uncertainty. "Lucifer's...? How...?" It didn't last long however, only serving to feed his anger once the sensation wore off. Acting in perfect sync with each other, both angels shot forward at the exact same time, meeting each other head on and engaging in a fierce sword fight as they rose straight up into the air. The pair were almost evenly matched, although the true angel was at a small disadvantage thanks to his only partially healed abdominal injuries rendering his movements not quite as fluid. Soon, the close quarters brawl evolved into a straight out dogfight between two magical beings. Between melee skirmishes, they would occasionally split off from each other to try and hit the other with beams of weaponized light, or a thrown magic blade.

Stiffening, The Doctor didn't move. Not unless someone counted standing up and grabbing a hold of Matt's wrist to hold him back. "Stop," she hissed, even though she wanted to do the same thing. Volt's actions, to her, were reckless. They didn't contain the strategy that The Doctor would have liked. They didn't know if these people had other abilities. She at least knew that the Tenno's armor seemed to be holding up against the blasts. It was more likely that they would escape than they would injure her. The box was being carried by four of the guards. Volt's attempt to knock any of them off their feet wasn't successful for that particular outcome, though it did have a result. One of them fumbled with something - the teleporter they all were using perhaps. The others didn't seem to have a problem as they activated, but it was out of sinc. The box tumbled, hitting the ground, the remaining guard tumbling along with it due to its weight. There was a soft yep, but the guard was up almost at once, weapon trained on Volt and firing, clearly protecting the box. "Volt!" hissed The Doctor. Then she looked at Ononoki. A gamble? "Any way you can get the box without harming the guard?" she hissed. Then again, considering Volt and the guard's current stance on each other, there might not be time.

Sam | Outside Lodge | Ougi, sherlock Sam felt like an idiot too. But he just colored a little and then looked away. Ougi wasn't his friend and clearly she wasn't in any danger (was she?); it was him and Sherlock who had been in danger! At least it seemed a bit like things were working out. Maybe. Being thrown into another location which Ougi seemed to have generated around her - complete with similar shadows to what had been around Zange before. Was that part of the reason that Ougi was here? He wasn't at all sure, but he was trying not to be more nervous than he already was. He blinked into a sentient House with a zillion different types of rooms. It wasn't out of the question that this was just something else like it. He completely froze when Ougi told them to be still. Now he was a bit freaked out. He had moved, he was sure of it. So had Sherlock. How much moving actually counted? She at least seemed to be calming down. Sam tried to calm a bit of his own nerves.

Touka | Lodge room | Iceclaw and mintedstar/fur |Touka paused, feeling like something was stuck in her throat as Myrnin asked how she was doing. How was she supposed to answer that? If she told him a lie, would she be doing it for his sake, to protect his feelings, or for her own sake, because she wanted her last blink to be happy? And if it was the latter...was that selfish? Was it okay? How would she feel if Myrnin never blinked in again? Would she assume he died, or just assume he was living happily away from the house? Or maybe she'd just hope that he was still alive. She took a breath. She didn't know what to say at all - nobody tells you how to act the day you die. But she couldn't just say nothing, could she? She'd already hesitated for several seconds longer than she could hope to pass off as normal. "I'm fine," she said, shrugging in a way she hoped was convincing rather than stiff and awkward. "New day, same old chaos." She turned to Rex, and let out a short laugh at his very characteristically morbid humor. She was surprised, however, when the second note of laughter came out as a strangled sort of sob, and before she could do anything about it or even process that she was feeling anything at all, she felt tears on her face. Mortified, she reached up to brush them away, but ended up pinching the bridge of her nose instead as a fresh wave of emotion welled up in her chest. Damn it.... Rex | Lodge | Touka and MyrninIf Rex caught Touka's hesitation, he also saw no reason to press. Chaos was chaos. They lived and breathed it and sometimes it was worse than other times. Touka seemed fine. Until she very clearly didn't. Rex's eyes widened in surprise as his morbid joke wrenched a choking sound from Touka as she doubled over, trying uselessly to hold back tears. Freezing at the uncharacteristic reaction, he opened his mouth to say something, then shut it. He'd never seen Touka like this before. In the back of his mind, he could feel his trained response taking over as it detached his shock and began sorting this situation out with cold efficiency. It probably wasn't what he had said. That had just been the breaking point. Her earlier hesitation indicated that whatever chaos was going on in her world was indeed worse than usual. Given her current reaction to gallows humor as compared to prior times, it likely had something to do with someone dying or being gravely wounded. He'd seen the same reactions from his soldiers countless times after they lost someone in the field. Touka wasn't one for beating around the bush or gentler types of comfort. He knew that much from last time they had been here. Brows drawing together slightly, Rex rested a hand lightly on her shoulder. "Touka, what's going on?" he asked calmly, but directly.

Touka | Lodge | Iceclaw mintedstar/fur |Touka didn't make eye contact with either of them, shame spreading through her like a vice as she tried and failed to stifle her emotions before they noticed she was crying. Her brain felt fuzzy and blank now, as if part of her hadn't yet gotten the memo that her secret was out, and her mind was frantically flipping switches, aggressively trying to force her feelings back into numb silence before it was too late. She felt sick. Then, Myrnin rested his hand on her shoulder, and Rex followed suit. To stifle her immediate impulse to shrink away from them, to run, to get out of this building, to never face them again, she reached up and grasped both their hands tightly, pressing them against her even though their touch felt like a live wire against her feelings. She couldn't do that. She couldn't run away. They would never see her again, and since apparently she was going to hurt them no matter what, the least she could do was try not to make it worse. Finally, she closed her eyes, and took a deep, shuddering breath, casting around desperately for the courage to put words to the thing that made her throat close up every time she let herself think about it. "I was captured," she said finally, her voice quiet and mirroring Rex's direct calm. She didn't have the strength for anything but pure fact. "In my world, I'm in custody now, waiting to be processed, but, uh...this is. Probably gonna be it for me."

</div> Touka | Temple a Room | ~∂ЄЅТΙИУ |FORGOT TO REPLY TO THIS AAAAAAAAAAAA) "Oh, no, I'm sure we can just walk across and nothing bad will happen to us - yes, there are rules!" said Touka irritably. The fact that the question had annoyed her was a testament to how much Vincent annoyed her as a person - coming from someone else, it would've been harmless, if a bit obvious. She shook off the feeling as well as she could, and returned to the situation at hand. It was a massive board, but the rules should be more or less the same...right? Traditionally, they should have some dice, but she didn't see any...how were they supposed to play, then? "You got any dice on you?" she asked, frowning. There must be a way to play, right? They couldn't just...go across.

Rex | Lodge | Touka, Myrnin
Oh.
Were it not for the iron grip his calm demeanor had on him, Rex would have doubled over from the force with which Touka's words hit him. He blinked, trying to process it in a manner that made sense. It hadn't even occurred to him that the person who was in danger was her. She had just- Touka had always seemed untouchable. Even when things were bad, she always scraped through.
"Okay," he said.
It wasn't connecting. He knew it would hit later, when he had blinked out and was alone. But right now, it didn't seem real. He didn't ask if it was possible she would escape or live. Given that she was this upset, the likelihood would be extremely slim.
"Well," he said, grip tightening ever so slightly on Touka's shoulder as he forced a grin. "Sweet of the House to drag you back one more time. Not like it's tried to off us every other step here." The words tasted bitter in his mouth as his heart began to squeeze, buckling under the weight of keeping a calm exterior. The control he had was fraying, but maybe if Touka laughed they could enjoy this last blink without- f[oops]. He wanted to hold her. As though maybe if he held her tight enough, she wouldn't be able to blink out. And they wouldn't have to lose her- Rex's jaw tensed, the grin threatening to crumbled.

</div>Vincent’s eyebrows raised in immediate surprise when Touka snapped at him, quickly looking away from her and towards the hopscotch board instead; in what appeared to be an attempt to defuse whatever had agitated her so quickly. However, while looking out towards their inevitable next obstacle, his tongue was pressed against the side of of his mouth as he seemed to resist the urge to laugh at her reaction. He stayed like that for a moment, thoroughly amused, then pursed his lips slightly and completely dropped the smile. He looked back at her, expression full of expectancy and refined attention, not seeming to mind his open mockery of her concerns. She had already expressed that the traps in the room were no trouble for her - leaving it obvious that whatever was irritating her revolves around him. As most wonderful things do, he supposed. At her question he promptly checked his pockets, despite already knowing the answer, then looked back at her. “Should we use the pair one typically carries with them?” He asked, gesturing towards her expectantly. His tone was remarkably casual despite the obvious sarcasm dripping off the words.

Vincent | lodge? | Iceclaw Vincent stepped back slowly, retreating to the inside of the lodge. He hadn’t realized it, but it had started to get cold outside, and stepping into the interior of a fire lit building brought forward a comforting breath. He had lost interest in what was unfolding in front of him quickly, so he had chosen to abandon a thread in which there was no point in finding the end of. Looking around inside was an overwhelming and exciting experience, as he was beginning to recognize a number of faces when he arrived in a crowded room. Such a quality warranted opportunity he wasn’t yet familiar with in the house, and it thrilled him. His gaze passed over the huddled group of familiar faces, all wearing saddened expressions which earned a quirked eyebrow, but another passing figure quickly stole his attention. His curious eye dragged after Daud for a moment as he started for the hallway, slowly causing a smirk to sneak onto the man’s lips. With a quick survey of the others, he slipped after the assassin, following at a distance which would allow him to call after the man without calling too much attention from the main room. “Daud!” He said, picking up a spritely pace as he felt they had become more isolated by the two walls on either side. He smirked, nearing the unsuspecting assassin while maintaining the same quickened pace until he reached, and fell into sync with the other man’s stride. “Daud,” he said again, “right?” He asked, seeking confirmation he was using the correct title. He flashed a grin, openly analyzing the man for his reaction to him.

“Yes, that was quite stupid, Sam.” Sherlock agreed impatiently, brushing aside their interaction like it was completely irrelevant to him. Because it was. He was only interested in what Ougi had hoped to accomplish by opening a black hole in the middle of a winter storm. Oh, he knew she’d been trying to get more information - he’d been doing the same in his own lousy human way - but he wanted to know exactly how this part of her worked, he’d have to corner her later and get a full detailed explanation. Stay still. Right, he could do that. The detective glanced at Sam, checking to make sure he was doing as he was told and wasn’t risking anyone’s life on some foolish attempt to rescue them faster. He was, in fact, even more still than Sherlock was, so he quickly froze in place, his head still turned towards Sam because he wasn’t sure it was a good idea to look back at Ougi like he wanted to. How much moving was too much moving, anyway? “You can kill us all you want after we’re not in this thing anymore.” He promised her, a smile in his tone, though not on his face, as she collapsed however, concern slipped into his voice instead. “Careful. If you die of over exertion we’ll never get out of here. We have a case to solve, remember?” We. He’d said we, including her in his case. For him, that was like pledging loyalty for life.
