Numquam Ghost didn't respond for about three seconds, eyes visibly glancing between each of Eises' new features. It was like a picture game of "what doesn't belong," trying to match what he was looking at to the person he had last seen, except this was on the body of a living creature. A living creature who wasn't telling him everything. The shepherd's eyes narrowed briefly, suspicious, as the wolf-girl glanced at her necklace. He had been built specifically for espionage, software to read body language was a given. However, Eises wasn't a target of his though. She was friendly and allowed to have secrets. Instead of prying, Ghost returned his expression returned to a more casual look, frown disappearing as his ears cocked forward. "Greetings." The shepherd replied. "I'll live. Figuratively speaking." His wing made another quiet humming sound and the ailerons shifted up and down before going still. It was well and truly jammed; he'd probably have to disassemble it to repair the bent pieces. ""Practicing" magic? How does that work?" Magic was an unknown to the bot, his only understanding of the skill coming from what he had seen demonstrated in the House, and even that was an extremely diverse variety. It seemed like the magic on each world was all slightly different from the others, providing inconsistent data. He tipped his nose in the direction of her face. "Does it always alter your appearance?"

When Arlo appeared she was sitting on the ground, her long coat pooled around her, sleeves rolled up to her elbows revealing multiple scars as well as the strange glowing tattoos that ran along them. Her eyes were closed and her hands were cupped in front of her with a large flower of some sort resting on her scarred palms. It was white and seemed to be emitting a faint blue-tinted glow. “Like this.. it’s tricky to-”
Suddenly sensing the shift in the energy around her, her eyes snapped open, the glow fading quickly from her tattoos and visible eye. She glanced around, looking a bit worried for a moment before realizing there were only two blinkers nearby, Ghost and a young woman with wolf ears and a tail who she’d seen several times before... Eises? She couldn’t remember if they’d actually spoken before.
“Uh... hey guys,” Arlo said as she got to her feet. She brushed the snow from her clothes with one hand, still holding the odd flower in the other. She glanced occasionally toward the lodge, remembering what had happened the last time she’d blinked in. She still wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.

Samuel & Zange Natsume | Winter Lodge | Everyone! There was something in Zange's pocket. Samuel leaned forward just a bit, still quietly annoyed that it seemed like Sherlock and Ougi hasn't really grasped what he had needed from them. "Fine," he muttered. Ougi was right in some part. He didn't know exactly what Zange would have wanted, but he could assume. He could assume from the look she had in her eyes before she died. But her body being here still seemed to have a purpose it would seem. Mostly, the thing which Ougi had just pulled out. It was a note, by the look of it. It was also very, very easy to read for anyone watching. Rosie is dead. Oh, there was a bit more than that. In particular, the handwriting (or lack there of, since it didn't seem to be handwritten) and the fact that it had another name on it. Addressed to Sherlock. How Zange had it, well ... it was anyone's guess.

Myrnin | Ice Sculpture Room | Numquam Myrnin spun, the speed of his actions making him seem like he was surprised, when in actuality he just seemed excited. "Ears!" he said, as if this was her nickname and that he had actually not come up with one (or just didn't remember it). After all, nicknames changed daily often times. "What are you up to?" he asked curious. He was completely oblivious as, behind him, one of the statues of a lion turned its head to look at them, snow eyes looking at Eises with an intensity that shouldn't have been possible for frozen water. "Long time, no seeeeeee," Myrnin continued brightly. It had been almost a year, perhaps? Maybe more? Time was hard to judge, particularly when compared to House time. One of the birds lowly lifted it's wings by one of the pine trees behind Eises and Myrnin's eyes widened, still unaware of the lion. "Oh!" he said. "That's cool. Snow bird!" mintedstar/fur Eises' ears perked up at the sound of Myrnin's voice and twitched in response to his nickname. The tips of her mouth raised in a cat-like grin, her embarrassment gone. She patted down her trench coat to get as much snow off of it as she could. "Y-yeah! It's been...almost a year for me?" Eises recalled she had much shorter hair when she last saw the man, it really was that long ago. "I've been doin' too much! The Istra and my Paistra keep me busy, been in too many fights." She was going to say she'd been in more fights than she could count, but she probably could count them all if she put in a little effort. "W-What about you?" She hadn't talked to Myrnin too many times, now that she thought about it, she barely knew the man. Eises was quite focused on Myrnin that she almost didn't notice the subtle movement behind him. Her face stiffened momentarily as she gazed slightly to his side, seeing if someone else had blinked in. She knew the movement came from around one of the sculptures, but where exactly? She guessed either it was some animal that happened to be a part of the room, or a shy blinker hiding behind one of mounds of snow. At least, she hoped. The way the lion statue looked at her was a little weird, however. Whoever made these sculptures really captured the eyes of a predator....Almost a little too accurately. She turned to see what Myrnin was talking about. "These sculptures don't seem too bad. I can do that in my sleep." It was true that Eises could make figures out of ice, in fact, making gems out of ice was how she scammed people for money. Whether she could actually make something akin to an animal sculpture was left to be seen. Maybe it was exaggeration. Her ice gems were detailed enough to fool a lot of people, so maybe there was a bit of truth behind her claim. She looked at the sculptures to her side and laid her eye on a monkey sculpture with its palm out. Eises took out her hand and, in a flash, summoned a relatively big ice gem. It was so sharp and clear that it looked real. She walked over to the iced-monkey and placed the gem in its palm. Just before she was going to change the bottom of the gem so it could stick to the paw, the monkey sculpture snatched the gem. Eises took several steps back in surprise, her eyes wide (it wasn't like you could see her right eye under her eyepatch, however). Myrnin | Ice Sculpture Room | Numquam "Ah yes!" said Myrnin brightly. "Two words which I do not know the definition of!" He seemed to smile, even as his eyes sparkled with an interest that was unbridled and willing for anything. "I mean," he chewed on his lip, trying to think over what he had been doing. A lot. A lot a lot. "I seem to have ... adopted a small child ... and rescued someone who decided to fall from the sky ... then ended up getting on very bad terms with said person, then ended up having same adopted small child almost eat this other person's friend ... it ... had been a wild year. But that aside, still is a wild year." His mouth was now a grim line. He wasn't particularly amused with his own personal life, honestly. Myrnin had been able to tell that at least the bird was able to move, so the fact that a second later the monkey did as well really wasn't much of a shock on his part. He jumped, but mostly out of excitement, clapping his hands together with a little dance with his feet thrown in. "That's really cute!" he said happily. "Can I have an ice gem?" He was looking Eises up and down, possibly wondering how she could do that with ice. But also maybe because he was just excited and wanted to see if any other creatures were going to run off with anything. "This is all rather cool," he noted with a smile that had thankfully replaced the thin line of before. "Cool. Ha ha, get it. You said you could make ice creatures like these, but can you make yours move?" This was less of a challenge and more of a serious question. Could she?

»ƑαƖcση ; --cato phoenixEises sighed in relief, Ghost didn't seem upset with her in the end. She was expecting him to at least be somewhat annoyed or give her some witty remark. She did eye his wing however, trying to remember if she's ever seen him with wings before. It also looked broken, I didn't do that, did I?Right, she had forgotten magic didn't exist in Ghost's world. Everything was more science-y. Science existed in Theia as well. Elisia in particularly was just as involved in technology as it was magic. "W-Well, a lot of people in my world use magic, but we're not born knowing how to use it perfectly. You have to practice your magic so you can control it better and do cool things with it." From her palm, she summoned a large ice-gem to show him. She shifted her fingers, and it floated towards Ghost. "I can use ice pretty okay, but the element I was just practicing isn't entirely mine..." She subconsciously fingered the jewel on her necklace, hinting who's magic it was. She can use regular Serian just fine as well, she's had enough practice. Calibris' corrupted Serian was an entirely different story, however. Eises bit her lip in response to Ghost's next question. She opened her mouth, but didn't say anything for several seconds. She supposed there was no use in lying; she was a terrible liar and she figured Ghost would be able to see right through her anyway. "Y-yeah..." she lowered her head a bit. "I-I sort of start changing into Calibris whenever I use his magic." It's not like he was doing it on purpose, it was just a side effect of using his magic. "I-It goes away after I stop, at least." One scale on her cheek was already starting to disappear...slowly. She raised her head in alertness, but her ears lowered when another voice appeared. The House could have at least waited until she turned back to normal, she didn't want to scare anyone by seeing her in this state. It was a familiar blinker, but Eises couldn't remember how many times the two have actually talked. "H-Hi!" She greeted Arlo nervously, a hint of Calibris' voice mixed with her own. It seemed like he hadn't fully stepped down from her own conscious. Another scale slowly started disappearing from her cheek.

mintedstar/furEises tilted her head a little. She expected the House to translate her language fully, as it usually does with others. She guessed even the House had its limits to what it could do. She wasn't the best at explaining things on the spot, and usually she had to wait a little to gather her thoughts. Even still, she attempted anyway. " Istra is like...a leader? A boss? Yeah, like a boss leader of an organisation. Istra is for females, and Istre was for males." Eises couldn't' believe she was the one explaining definitions to someone else. Usually, it was her who was asking. "So the Istra I'm talking about is my boss." Okay, so far so good. She hoped she was making sense. " Paistra is...well...it's like, the most respectful thing you can call someone? Like, calling someone your master, but higher and with more respect....It used to be the word for father, but that was hundreds of years ago..." Evina would have explained this a lot more seamlessly. Myrnin's year sounded eventful. "I-I...can relate to having an adopted child try to eat someone." She sighed in amusement. Technically, he's already eaten a lot of people. "I hope your year went well, at least." If the monkey was able to move...Eises suspiciously looked to the lion from earlier. The ice-lion however, was gone. That wasn't a good sign now, was it? She kept her ears perked in case it decided to land a sneak attack sometime soon. She looked to Myrnin for a few seconds before smiling a little. "Sure." In just a second, two balls of icey-mist that suddenly appeared turned into two rotating ice-gems. Just like the one from before, the gems were clear and with enough edges to look like a real gem. They both quickly floated over to Myrnin. "I used to make these all the time as a kid." She had enough practice tricking people that these gems looked perfect now. She playfully rolled her eyes at Myrnin's pun. "Technically, I can!" She said proudly. What she didn't say is that making them move took a lot of effort. Her sculptures couldn't move on their own actually, she had to be the one manipulating the ice for them to move. To demonstrate, she summoned a small ice-horned-mouse from thin air and it landed on her palm. Narrowing one eye, she twitched her finger, and the mouse stood upright with its paws to its chest. She placed it on the ground, and caused it to run in one direction. As she straightened up her back, one of the House's ice-birds landed on her head.

Ghost tipped his head as he listened to Eises' explanation. It did little to help the bot understand exactly what magic was, the information still stuck in limbo between something biological and something he could only classify as "other." The Other file is where most of the data he collected in the Paradox House went anyways though. At least he had more content to add to Eises' personal file.
Then the wolf-girl summoned a floating crystal of ice. It completely defied all known laws of physics, ignoring gravity and temperatures off the surface reading in at well below zero. Ghost flashed a quick laser scan across it, green light reflecting off the smooth edges. This was the first time in a while he had the opportunity to examine something created by magic up close, but he still had no idea how to process the data being received. He had nothing onboard capable of detecting magic.
At least Eises' next statement provided a clue to her odd behavior, but it still didn't explain why she was acting so ashamed. Ghost was starting to form some hypotheses though. He turned his attention from the crystal back to the girl, or at least her necklace. It seemed to act as some sort of catalyst or reliquary, providing access to this "Calibris" person.
"Is Calibris someone you want to become?" Ghost asked, watching her expression. Something about her using this magic was taboo, and he was beginning to think it was dangerous either to herself or to someone else-
Ghost's ears snapped to a sudden sound nearby, followed quickly by the rest of his head. Arlo, doing something with magic as well, given the fact what he was seeing wasn't matching up with known factors. Now that he was aware of this data void, it was going to be obnoxious. He shot a quick glance at Eises as the two females greeted each other. It seemed unlikely that their conversation would continue in front of someone else. Shame.
The shepherd turned back to the newcomer. "Hello Arlo. Experimenting with botany?"

I'm not 100% sure what's going on in the lodge but anyone can pick this up!)
Touka | Lodge | @ anybody |
Touka blinked into the snow, pacing furiously. She only managed to get in a few steps, though, before the crunch of snow under her shoes and the biting cold alerted her to the change in her surrounding, and she stopped, startled, looking up to see where she was.
"Snow..." she said quietly, blinking as snowflakes started to settle on her eyelashes. "The House. I'm in the House."
She shook her head, running a hand through her hair as she realized, absently, that once again, she was happy to be back here. Wherever here currently was. She could see lights not too far away, which she supposed from the landscape must be the lodge. Again already...had it really been a year since last time? What had she been doing last time...
It didn't matter now, she reminded herself bitterly, shaking off the thought. Anyway, she might not see it again, so...might as well make the best of it, right? With that thought still turning itself over in her mind, she began to make her way towards the lodge, marching determinedly through the snow. She wondered how many people she'd see there. She hoped she would at least see Myrnin, and Rex. And Enj...she added, with a twist in her stomach. She didn't want to leave things like that.
Well. She'd see when she got there.

Spinel stumbled slightly as the wings vanished, looking up at him in an almost furious manner. She listened, still fuming, before saying, "Yeah- well- you stole them from his chest. Big difference." The gem was obviously far beyond being reasoned with, too deep in her frustration and panic to actually think about what he was saying. It didn't blow over into a full tantrum, however, as she heard what he said next. Some of her anger faded, quickly replaced by clear cut worry once more. Her counterpart only laughed again. "Ooh! Alrighty then- on with the show." The two pairs of eyes watched him summon his swords, one slightly fearful, and the other watching with light, sadistic glee. That is until he aimed the swords at her. The fake's eyes darkened slightly, whatever maliciously playful expression on her face condensing into an expression that was disappointed- angry, even-, but not surprised. "Hmmmmm. Sure." She said, raising one poised eyebrow. The copy took a moment to flick her gaze around the room, wondering if there was anything to use to her advantage, but other than that looked almost bored. The only other acknowledgment of his statement was a small cross of her arms. Her body language was still relatively open and condescending as compared to Spinel's, who looked like she was trying to invert into herself slightly. She clutched her gem, trying to protect it from whatever was coming in whatever way possible. Her ideology was grim, but surprisingly practical compared to the chaos that was brewing in her head at this point of pure panic; protect her gem. She could be riddled with holes for all she cared or something- with luck he wouldn't know to destroy it and she'd be able to reform. You could see the relief on the best friend's face a moment later as Sandalphon got up, looking so happy that she wasn't stuck facing all of this on her own and that he was okay and maybe she spoke too soon. "Oooohhh golly," She mumbled as Sandalphon was kicked to the floor, eyes wide and still extremely unsure. Should she help? What should she do? She wasn't built for fighting or anything. She was frozen, feeling helpless and wishing Pink was here. She could make things better. Not like her. Spinel's copy, meanwhile, had a far different approach. She watched them absently, her arms going to her sides in a stiff manner. She wondered what would happen if she went over there and- say- grabbed Sandalphon's copy and threw him around. Not because she was angry- nooo- but more because she was intrigued by what his reaction would be. Not like giving him a taste of his medicine wouldn't hurt either. The fake gem smirked softly, clenching her fists together as they began to swell in size, to the point in which she was able to stride over, grab the fake Primarch in both hands, and jerk her arms to the left in an attempt to throw him aside. Her face was tightly controlled, smirking and still trying to keep her playful exterior- but was unable to stop the slight glint of satisfaction out of her gaze at the same time. Hook | Lodge Hallway | Shadepelt15
Hook chuckled at her retort, offering a tilt of his head and a slight raise of one shoulder in a half-assed shrug of agreement. He watched her mosey over to the couch, following her lead after she gestured for him to join her. As he approached the spot in which she’d patted for him to sit; he decided to turn himself around by spinning 180 on the back of one of his muddy heels. He allowed gravity to bring him down into the cushions with a dramatic, and heavy plop. After all the lazy theatrics, he had to readjust himself into an upright position in order to appreciate the contents Shade’s satchel with full attentiveness - though not before casting her a sly smirk for scooting the seat backwards with his impact. “Don’t try and brush me off,” he said defensively, stubbornly nodding for her to proceed. Despite his antics, the pirate could not mask the instant smile that hit his lips when he caught glimpse of the colorful journal. His smile broadened as she cleared her throat, raising his eyebrow at her excuses. “Trust me,” he assured, “the glitter doesn’t make you any less terrifying.” As she awkwardly pushed the conversation onward he inched closer, leaning over to peer at the pages she opened to. He became immersed instantly, his good hand reaching over and levitating above each image as he analyzed it. He seemed to only skim over each large portion of writing, though it surely wasn’t that he wasn’t interested; in fact, he paused over any word that was written with emphasis and tried to piece together the letters. He knew that they likely were the ones with the most important meaning, so he focused on them rather than allow himself to be overwhelmed by the incoherent mess scattered across the page. Mostly, however, he turned his attention towards the pictures themselves. He turned his head curiously as he observed the various creatures and people that supposedly made up her world, a smirk tugging at his lips. He looked towards her, grinning as he snagged her gaze. “You get paid for each of these, right? You got a ‘done in’ list for me?” He asked, noting the size of journal as he spoke.

Sherlock watched as Ougi began to search the body, interested to see what she would uncover. That had been his next move, after all. He was somewhat impressed with her so far, she seemed a bit more interesting than most people. He made a note to talk to her at some point. Then she found the note, and his attention became undivided and completely focused on the paper. Paper. Looked old, not too old, but not recent either. Like it had been written a year ago. He recognized the creases in the paper before he even saw the words and his stomach twisted itself into a knot, his heart beat fast as he moved forward and reached to snatch the paper away from Ougi. “Give me that. That’s mine!” He said sharply, his blue eyes never leaving the paper as he addressed her. He didn’t say any of the other things bouncing around his skull, but he could have said a great deal about that note, all the things he’d had too much time to notice, still far too little to use. He felt... Angry. And something else. Oh, was that fear? He wasn’t accustomed to being afraid and he didn’t like the way it writhed in his body like something alive, or the way it made his brain go fuzzy and difficult to use. He looked at Ougi then, hoping none of it showed in his piercing blue eyes as he said again, “Give it to me.”

Ougi - lodge outside - touka, sherlock, those around zange
Ougi saw Touka coming up the ridge in the corner of her eye, and paused with something in her hand. The pause was brought about from her realizing she held anything at all, instead of the little paper’s contents. She started to turn her gaze downward from the ghoul, her black spotted orbs for eyes sliding about in her skull. Rosie is dead. Ougi held the slip in her paw of a hand and drew it away in slow motion, as if predicting Sherlock’s reach. At the same time, it was instantaneous. The oddity locked her elbow away from the detective like a kid in a playground squabble. “Oh? You think I should hand this over, and you don’t even have so much as one reason why?” She shot him a pitied look, a concentrated one considering how animated she was holding the paper away. She stood on her toes and leaned away as well to consider her height. And then, Ougi brought her hand down. In one sweeping motion her elbow bent and her paw-hand went straight to her face, depositing the slip of paper with Sherlock’s message straight into her mouth. Not a second longer and she had swallowed it, lifting her chin to show the audience. For someone who never seemed to eat actual food, Ougi was hungry for secrets.

"You're Eises, right?" Arlo asked the wolf-woman as the light faded from her tattoos and they returned to their usual dark color. Her head tilted slightly as she looked at the other blinker, watching curiously as what looked like a scale disappeared from her cheek. Had she had scales before? Arlo couldn't remember. It was strange, her necklace seemed to have energy of it's own, but that didn't make sense unless... no it couldn’t be. They weren’t even from the same world. “I’m Arlo- Arlo Crimson. I think we might’ve met before?”
“Huh?” She blinked a couple time at Ghost's question, momentarily forgetting what she'd been doing in her world, then looked down at the flower again. "Oh, that. A... friend of mine back in my world found out about my magic. We were uh... in an accident and I had to heal him- he was wondering how I did it, so I was trying to show him.” She’d owed him that much at least. It was her fault he’d been there at all... yes, she’d tried to warn him, but she hadn’t told him the entire truth. She glanced in the direction of the lodge. Her last blink had been... interesting. She kind of wanted to ask if they’d heard anything about it, but for now she was fine with just having a distraction from it.

»ƑαƖcση ; --cato phoenixEises couldn't help but smile in amusement when Ghost scanned the ice. It prompted her to summon a Serian gem this time and make it float towards him. It looked just like the ice gem, only this one was purple. She wondered how the canine will react. Serian didn't seem like an element found in the other worlds, judging by previous conversations with other blinkers. "I-I guess I never told you before? I'm an Ice and Serian elemental." Her eyes widened in surprise. "Ha, he's kind of hearing us right now..." That wasn't a question she was expecting. "W-Well...no. Even if Calibris wasn't so violent...I want to stay myself. It's kind of scary when he takes over. Remember when he tried to in the temple we entered?" Even though Calibris was doing slightly better since then, she'd rather be herself. "I don't think I want to be part dragon either...Besides, i-it hurts most of the time." At that last sentence, Calibris' voice flared again, making it sound like two voices speaking at once. She placed both hands on the snow and turned her head to somewhat face Arlo. She nodded, "I think so. Maybe a long time ago." She offered an awkward smile. "Nice to meet you again." It seemed that Calibris' voice came and went as Eises talked. Her right eye was still amber, but it slowly started to turn to the light grey it originally was. Eises tilted her head a bit as she glanced at the flower, "What kind of magic do you do?"

Vince | Lodge | Shadepelt15 mintedstar/fur ®Hawkpath® Razzle DazzleVincent remained quiet, standing comfortably off to the side as he observed each persons face and body. He cast Archie a cold look when he spoke to him, not a glare of annoyance, particularly, but an icy enough glance to suggest that he wouldn’t take kindly to being distracted from his work anymore. Whether or not the god took kindly to that implication or not, he didn’t care. After all, people were being interesting at the moment. Generally, the atmosphere was rather unnerved. Everyone seemed to be anticipating some kind of resurrection, or perhaps for the body to combust. Nothing of the sort seemed to be happening, which was standard for a corpse in most places, but presumably not here. A nervous energy, followed by frustration, over took the room. He tracked the way each individual addressed the manner, particularly Samuel, Ougi, and Sherlock, who seemed to be the most determined to get involved. He was silent as the next course of action was poorly discussed before brashly being acted upon, the body being turned over and searched with little time to analyze it’s condition. His eyes narrowed as Ougi stood with a note, curious if she’d read it aloud for them, only to be startled by Sherlocks sudden demand for it. He stared at the man skeptically. For someone acting so oblivious...he sure seemed to have a lot of personal ties to a dead woman. Vincent glanced at the others, wondering if anyone would meet his observations. He quickly returned his eyes to the scene, blinking in confusion at what he was met with. In the few seconds he’d turned his attention in the opposite direction, Ougi had brought the note up to her mouth and was now proceeding to swallow it. What in the hell was it with the people in this place swallowing evidence? Surely there was a more effective way of getting rid of something...but that was besides the point. His eyebrows shot upward, glancing to Sherlock for a reaction.

Touka | Lodge, outdoors | @ anyone, but specifically ®Hawkpath® | As Touka approached the lodge, she noticed that there was a fairly large group of people just outside it, all in a tight little circle around some object of apparent interest that she couldn’t see. Hm. This wasn’t a normal part of the lodge. What was going on? “Hey,” she called up the hill as she neared the group, holding a hand to her eyes to shield them against the wind and snow. “What’s all this about - oh, sh(oops), who’s that??” She spotted Zange’s still form at the same time the humans’ scents began to drift towards her - mostly fear. It was especially rank from Sherlock, which was startling, given that she didn’t think she’d smelled fear on him before. That probably wasn’t a good sign.

Sherlock’s body stiffened in shock as Ougi swallowed the paper, even though usually he’d have been able to predict such an action from a day away. He reached out as though to grab her, but stopped himself and instead clenched his hands into fists. “Happy?” He snarled at her, eyes flashing dangerously as he too a step towards her, now staring straight down at her. “Satisfied? I hope those words burn your stomach.” He let out a breath, trying to stop his emotions before they drowned him completely. This wasn’t like him and he knew it. He hated the way fear changed him, because it was fear, he knew that now. Touka was a welcome distraction. He turned to look at her, noting the way her eyes went to the body and widened slightly. Oh, right, she probably was thinking of food when she saw a human corpse, how interesting, or it would be usually. Now it was just another bit of information filed away in his brain for future reference. “Don’t know.” He answered her question flatly, then looked back at Ougi. “I’d assume you want answers, but seeing as you just ate the only clue you had, maybe not. What is it you want?”

"You healed him with a flower?" Ghost asked Arlo. Medicine could be derived from plants, he knew that much. But in the context Arlo spoke, that was not the case here. More like the flower seemed to visually represent her magic.
"I have seen your ice abilities, but not while in close proximity," The shepherd replied as Eises created another crystal. "Okay, now you're just taunting me." Of course he wanted to examine it.
He ran another laser scan, but this gem didn't return any data worth noting from the visuals. Its temperature matched the environment and, while there were data-void readings from the Theian herself, the crystal did not seem to be producing anything. Ghost sat back on his haunches, extending his damaged wing out again to avoid scraping it through the snow before reaching out with one forepaw to carefully take the purple crystal from the air.
"Sir-ee-an?" He clarified, voice modulating a little with the creation of a new word. He turned the crystal over in his paw, committing it to memory. The chemical makeup of the crystal matched nothing in his knowledge library. Unsure of where it would fit on his world's periodic table without an in-depth analysis, Ghost opened a new file to the side to record the raw data for now.
Then the shepherd froze, unblinking eyes flicking up to lock onto Eises' face without raising his head from the crystal. "I do remember that." The word temple triggered a recollection from his Misc. file, data he hadn't known how to categorize at the time and that he had neglected to return to later. He ran another scan over the girl herself, checking vitals like he had done when she had been injured. And there it was again, a dual heartbeat, the duplicate stronger this time but fading. "That is Calibris?" And the crystal he was holding was the product of this unknown entity. So Eises was a composite, not one creature but two, if not more. Due to magic. Several addendums were added Eises' file, along with a new one opening to record information about Calibris.
Ghost released the purple crystal back into the air, getting to his feet and stamping one back paw to shake the snow out of his fur again. "The way you speak of this Calibris raises concerns," He informed Eises with a troubled expression. "I hope you know what you are doing."

Ougi - lodge outside - touka, sherlock, vincent
“The only clue...?” Ougi murmured it uselessly, eyes straying. She noticed Vincent observing, and Touka had arrived at this point. Good. Even though there weren’t rules in the Paradox House, she doubted an adult like Sherlock would get to fight a teenager without intervention. Even so, she shrunk at his approach. Staring down at Ougi was a little like staring down the barrel of a gun. Or maybe, it was like casting your shadow over an animal. She seemed dormant enough as she stared back, eyes seeing but sightless, but there was no way of knowing if she was the type to fire. “You’re my clue,” she told him, feet glued to the ground. Her hands were clenched just as his were, concentrating the energy she could have used to back off into bunching up her skirt on either side. “Everything you’re doing is a clue. The gamble was worth it. Besides, who said that was the only thing on the body?” A bluff. Or to Sherlock and Ougi, a test. Even with someone as difficult to read as Ougi, if Sherlock was a capable detective than he would recognize it immediately; if she had really found anything else, she would have waited at least one or two seconds more to include that information. Which meant it wasn’t true, and was only mentioned so quickly to distract from her challenge just before, as well as keep her useful in the situation. The ends of her hair cast themselves across her face, which stayed low but upturned. Had Ougi blinked? Without replacing her placidity with any other expression, she said something more genuine for once. It was obvious, as her voice was lower to speak one on one with the detective. “I’m not so interested in your past, your world, or our future. I only want to know who this person is.”

Serian? The word was unfamiliar to Arlo as well. She might not have known everything about magic in her own world, but she thought that she would have at least heard of it if it existed there. Perhaps that was one of the ways magic differed between worlds. Ghost didn't seem to recognize it either but Arlo wasn't sure if magic existed in his world at all. "I haven't heard of it either," she said, watching the dog paw at the purple crystal. It was different from other magics she'd seen and she wasn't really sure what to compare it to. She noticed the occasional change in the demitheian's voice but felt that it would probably make Eises uncomfortable if she asked about it, especially when they'd only just met. Still, it made her very curious. Was she talking about her necklace when she referred to 'Calibris'? Arlo subconsciously reached up to the arrowhead on her own necklace as she listened to Eises and Ghost.
At Eises' question, Arlo smiled slightly then swished her free hand, causing the tattoo-like markings on her arms to glow slightly again as energy twisted around her hand and formed into a ball over her palm. "Energy manipulation," She replied. Arlo shook her head, trying not to laugh at Ghost's question "No, I didn't heal him with a flower, I was just trying to show him how my magic works." She let the ball of energy dissipate, and picked the flower up by it's stem so that it was easier for the other blinkers to see. "I can absorb energy from things, or use it to heal." The glow faded from the flower as it withered and died. A moment later, it seemed to reverse, returning to its original state. "I'm still learning about it though. I guess you could say I... found magic about a decade ago, but I didn't really have anyone in my world to teach me what it did."

»ƑαƖcση ; --cato phoenix Eises tried to think back and remember when she had shown Ghost her ice abilities. It had already been a while since she last saw him, and with everything that had been happening back home, it was a little difficult to remember some of her blinks. Nodding as Ghost tried the new word, she looked back at Arlo and then to Ghost. She then lifted her palm to demonstrate more. "It's a weird element. Sometimes it's a crystal and sometimes it's-" She yelped when Serian, in its corrupted fire form, flared upwards suddenly. Rather than the brilliant purple that the element normally was, its corrupted form was a dark, greyish purple. She narrowed one eye in frustration and immediately covered her hand. "S-Sorry...Calibris was also a Serian elemental, so when he's awake, my Serian becomes his..." She was glad the blast of flame wasn't enough to catch anyone on fire. Would Ghost carry a fire extinguisher with him? Serian flame was much messier to deal with than regular fire. "I-I promise mine isn't corrupted like his is, and it's not as hard to control. R-Regular Serian, my Serian, is a really pretty purple." Calibris being awake always made everything difficult. The wolf sighed, she wasn't surprised that Ghost would be concerned. Especially after what happened in the temple room. "H-He's...a little better now. He still sleeps most of the time, b-but he doesn't try taking control every time he wakes up. My Paistra told me to control him better, Calibris is really really strong you see." Terrifyingly so, but that strength wasn't something Eises was going to practice here in the house. It was far too risky and she wouldn't know what she would do if she hurt another blinker while under his influence again. "I can only practice his power when my Paistra is around...w-we sort of need someone to knock me out if Calibris starts to take over..." She laughed nervously, he was still a little unpredictable. The sealed dragon's voice continued to show itself every few words. He was awfully calm at this moment, Eises didn't know why but she wasn't going to question it either. If anything, it was a relief. "T-This probably sounds a little strange..." She lightly scratched her cheek as her necklace lit up faintly. It seemed like Calibris wasn't entirely ready to go back to sleep. Could it be that he was actually curious to the conversation? Eises' eyes widened as she watched Arlo's markings glow. It reminded her of the Cave of Runes, whose walls were full of embedded markings that glowed when you walked by. Found the magic? It reminded her of elementals who didn't discover their magic until their teenage years. Maurice was one such elemental, so she supposed it wasn't a strange occurrence. Of course, Eises didn't realise at all that she had misinterpreted what Arlo meant. "S-So...if you were sleepy and feeling tired could you just absorb someone's energy and it'll make you feel better?" She tilted her head with a hint of excitement in her eyes. "Can you make people feel tired by stealing their energy too?" That sounded useful. While she talked, she made shapes in the snow, and lazily started to pick up small amounts of it and compacted them a large ball.

Sam | Winter Lodge | Iceclaw and anyone else! This was, for the small vampire who had never asked for any of this nonsense, the last straw. He turned on his heals without looking and very literally ran into the chest of a rather tall man compared to himself. The top of his head literally rammed into the underside of this man's chin. It didn't really hurt Sam, but it might have hurt the assassin. Maybe. There was a larger chance that both of them were fine. "W-w-what?" asked Sam, taking a step back, almost onto Zange, and then took a step forward again because he really wasn't going to do that. This meant his face was almost buried in Daud's chest again. Sam was caught between scared stiff and very embarrassed.

Touka | Lodge | mintedstar/fur mostly |"Okay..." muttered Touka, watching as whatever disagreement Ougi and Sherlock we're having seemed to intensify. Wasn't Sherlock a detective? Shouldn't he be more interested in...oh, I don't know, a dead body? Well, if no one else was going to do it, she'd just have to figure it out herself - no, wait. She didn't care, either. This wasn't the murder mystery room, so she didn't have to play detective this time. Satisfied with that thought, she stepped away from the group and headed into the lodge, swinging open the door and savoring the warmth and.....complete chaos. There were people everywhere in here. Everywhere. And it was loud. This was definitely not the peaceful, idyllic setting she remembered. Goddamn newbies... Her irritation quickly melted into relief, though, when she spotted a familiar face not far from the front door. Oh, good. He, at least, was here. "Hey," she said, crossing the small space between the vampire and herself to lean on the wall a few inches away from him. "Busy lodge, right? Wait - have you been here before?"

Sherlock stopped where he was, which was directly in front of Ougi but not touching her. He had no intention of fighting her, but he wanted her to stop talking. Right now. She didn’t seem interested in doing that though. The more she spoke, the more he understood her and what she was doing, and slowly he began to calm down a bit. Not much, but the first shock of seeing the note was wearing off. He was beginning to be able to think a little through the panic. That was a good thing. He glared down at her, then took a step back, widening the distance between them not out of respect or because he was giving up, but because he disliked being that close to anyone, especially someone he barely knew. “Oh, shut up.” He told her, shoving his hands into the pockets of his coat. Now that he was a bit calmer, things were falling into place and he was pretty sure he had a good sense of what she was up to. “You’ve just gone and proven there was nothing else, obviously. Did I pass your test, then?” He said it so flatly it was as though she had previously informed him there would be a tear, and he had studied for it. He snorted, but the danger seemed to have passed for the moment. He no longer looked any more frightening than usual, which was nothing more than an odd sort of detective in an overcoat. “Relax, I’m not going to do anything. You don’t even have to convince me I need you alive. As for her...” The consulting detective glanced at the body, and a shadow seemed to pass over his thin face. “I’m afraid i don’t know anything more about her than you do. But I’m going to find out.” The last part was a murmur, almost more to himself than her. He didn’t look back at her as he stepped to the side and approached the body, crouched down, and searched it for himself. As expected, nothing more was to be found. But that wasn’t why he had done it. His real purpose had been to have a look at her clothes, her hair, where the eyes had been, any details that could get him anywhere.

Ougi - lodge outside - Sherlock or anyone around Zange
Ougi stood like a short pole in the ground, looking up at Sherlock. She was actually quite aerodynamic from the top down, her hair laying back and her body fanning out only at her skirt, then her feet standing one against the other. The student didn't return any of the detective's animosity in her expression, but she did have it. It was deeper inside than the surface, if only just barely. She didn't acknowledge whether or not he had passed the test--he had, it meant. It took a few moments for her to start moving after he retreated; her hair started to flurry normally in the wind and her hands unclutched themselves from her skirt. "Well then, I'm interested... How do you intend to find out? What might your first step be?" She couldn't help but advance slightly, leaning with square shoulders over him as she connected her hands behind her back. The oddity was not only interested in his general plan, but what he would go about first. It would speak volumes of his process. Before he had completely evaluated the body, her eyes suddenly narrowed. She began to wonder if... Ougi raised one of her hands out from behind her back, letting the pink sleeve fall away to reveal gloved digits. She was considering trying something, but already knew it would be undesirable to do it in front of the others.

Daud | Lodge | Sam Daud watched flatly as Sherlock and Ougi immediately started going at each other. He felt as though he were in the last room. Unlike the last room, however, he had not committed this murder, and therefore had no reason to hang around. Just as he was about to turn away, however, a young boy ran into him with enough force that Daud bit his tongue. Swearing, he took a step back, glaring at the kid. "Watch it," he snapped, stepping aside solely to give the boy the option not to stand on the corpse or uncomfortably close to him.

Rex | Inside the Lodge, completely oblivious to the body and it's gonna stay that way | Touka, Myrnin Rex blinked into the lodge's main space near the fireplace. He immediately recognized the area, looking around curiously. Strange how this room was consistently repeated. Now they just had to hope it wouldn't burn down this time, he thought with a snort. It didn't seem like anyone else was here, though he could hear shouts and voices. Maybe they were all outside. He smiled faintly as he recalled the last time he had been here, having the snowball fight with Touka. Warmth that had little to do with the fire crept through him. He wished they could be that carefree all the time here.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he turned from the fireplace and made his way toward the hall leading outside. Catching sight of Touka and Myrnin by the door, he waved. "Touka! Myrnin!"

Aizawa | Hallway | Hange Aizawa watched them shift onto their back as they spoke, rambling on and on and on- didn't they have any filter? Not that he should be complaining he supposed, but still. Usually people had a little more sense than this. Someone else in the House had made them a vampire? Aizawa turned this piece of information over in his mind. That would imply that there was a manifestation here that was a vampire.
What they said about interactions caught his attention. As far as he had seen, most manifestations seemed solitary and confined to their own ideas and space. This was one of the rare times someone had mentioned a direct relationship with another manifestation. And this relationship seemed to have permanent consequences. What was the point? "Who made you one?" he asked, tone just as flat as always. He completely ignored their question about his capture weapon. Unlike them, he knew how to keep his secrets.

Sherlock paused in the act of searching Zange’s pockets, considering the question. What did he plan to do? He could, of course, wait until Zange blinked in again (he was decently confident that she would) but did he want to do that} he realized it would make him look helpless, which was the opposite of what he was trying to accomplish right now. He didn’t look at Ougi as he finished his search, uncovered nothing useful, and sat back on his heels. “First, we see if anyone knew her.” He decided out loud, and looked over his shoulder at Arlo, or at least, where Arlo had been. He wasn’t sure whether she’d blinked out or not. “She’s going to blink in again, obviously, the House doesn’t like to leave things so open ended. It wouldn’t be much of a puzzle worth having if this was it, after all, and the House is all about puzzles, with answers.” Then he did look at her, his eyes narrowed. “And yourself? I assume you aren’t going to leave this alone, are you? No, you’re going to investigate just like I am, only I doubt you’ll be doing it my way, so what are you going to do next? Keep questioning me, or someone who might actually know something?”

Touka | Lodge | mintedstar/fur Iceclaw |Touka looked up instantly at the sound of yet another familiar voice, and she stubbornly choked down the lump in her throat that formed the second she saw him. No. This blink was not going to be a tragic one. If she was going to have their faces in her mind when the doves came for her, she wanted them to be smiling faces. Happy faces. Damn it. That was sentimental, and it was going to make her cry. So instead of following that train of thought any further, she pushed all thoughts of goodbyes and all the emotion she could from her mind, rooting herself as firmly as she could in the immediate present. The Lodge. The House. Her friends. "Rex!" she returned, breaking into a grin and waving him closer to the two of them. "God, it's been...how long? I haven't seen you in so many blinks. Thought maybe the House finally got sick of you."

Ougi - lodge outside - Sherlock, others around Zange
Ougi’s eyes faded as her thoughts found themselves elsewhere than on Sherlock’s searching. Her fingers twitched the instant he spoke, as if she had anticipated the sound. “See if anyone knew her...” It was the most obvious direction, but it wasn’t as specific of an answer as the student was looking for. “I’m going to stay by the body. If anyone recognizes her, I’ll find out that way.” Her answer was technically vague, purposefully. “And in the meantime, I’ll build an igloo.” The oddity turned away from Sherlock, crouched on the ground, and began scooping snow for her build. She looked over her shoulder to shoot Sherlock an expectant glance. Either he would leave, or he would have to challenge her somehow.

Sherlock couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed af her response. Okay, he didn’t exactly have a Major Overarching Plan right now, but he was getting there. His mind was spinning with information, it just hadn’t quite...solved anything yet. Very frustrating when that happened. “If no one knew her, we’ll just have to get to know her ourselves, won’t we?” He added, eager to prove he wasn’t just standing around doing nothing. “I’ve already made some progress there. Say she’s from the future, for example, which she almost definitely is, then she knew all of us because she knew our future selves, theory holds up when you consider how she knew we wouldn’t know her, of course if you think about House time it’s also a possibility she wasn’t from our future in any kind of linear sense but we may as well think of it that way. On to TJ he obvious, everyone saw the eyes all over her I assume? Almost as though she were ‘seeing’ something, isn’t it? But what? You might say, ‘what if she can see the future’, but no she didn’t just see it, she lived it, or she wouldn’t know us. Again, if she’d only seen the future she couldn’t have had that note on her pocket, so she must be seeing something else. And then we’re on to the subject of what’s killed her.” He took a breath of air and continued, eyes on Ougi the whole time he was speaking. “Cause of death: unclear. Did it have something to do with the eyes that covered her body, or were those normal for her? Was magic involved or did she die of natural causes? You see, in my world, I could rule out magic as a cause of death off the bat and save myself a lot of time, but I can’t do that here, making this take longer to solve. Also, I can’t investigate her world, more specifically areas she frequented, or people who knew her. I’ve come to understand that I’m rather handicapped and have to take things a little slower, come at them from a different angle, and not miss a single detail while I’m in the House. Which is why I think seeing whether anyone knows her is the first step, and then letting the House blink her in again is next.” He was getting calmer by the second, and being able to get all his thoughts out there was what was helping. He was thinking out loud now, and deep down he was grateful to Ougi for giving him an excuse to get out of his head and back into the real world. Oh, right. She was challenging him. He smirked right back at her and followed, hands in his pockets. “All that being said….” He said slowly, and bent down, scooping up a handful of snow in his gloved hands. “...need a hand?”
