When rereading old books, does anyone else feel kind of sad knowing how every character ends up? I know they're just fictional characters, but sometimes it just makes me feel weird to go on this whole journey with a character and see their whole life, and every moment they have been in and know that even though they are alive in this book I'm rereading, in reality they are now dead. For example, Purdy. I was never attached to him, but the fact that he is dead just hasn't settled with me. He's just been around for so long that it's different to think of the books without him, and now if I ever go back and reread the older books where he is still alive, I know that even though he is alive in this moment, he is going to die later down the road. I know his whole life as a character from the first scene to his last and no matter how many times I go back and reread, every scene where he is alive, he is really dead.
And I feel this way with Firestar too, and pretty much every character who has died.

I totally get what you mean, especially with Firestar. He's been around since the beginning that I sometimes forget that Bramblestar is leader of ThunderClan now. Purdy's death hasn't quite settled in with me just yet, either.

I think about this sometimes when I'm reading the books to my baby brother....seeing how great a lot of the characters used to be, also when they're alive. It's kinda a bummer. And I know I don't care for Graystripe as much as I used to, but when he finally kicks the bucket...I'll probably be sad...just like how I was for Ravenpaw, Firestar, Dustpelt and Sandstorm...

I agree, this totally happens to me a lot, especially the first two series in particular. Oh, and when reading Power of the Three, I will always feel bad for Hollyleaf knowing she wasn't part of the three, when she thought she was the whole time. And speaking of Purdy, I really want a novella for him, tbh

Crap, I spoiled myself. And I was doing so well. Thought the spoiler tag was for an older character like Sandstorm. Well, RIP Purdy, honestly not surprised.
Either way, I agree. Especially in OS when literally everyone is dead now, and the ones that suffer horrible deaths like Littlecloud and even Gorsepaw.

Littlecloud being so hopeful and happy to be a medicine cat in the beginning...seeing him die hurt every fiber of my being ;.;

Yep! I always get sad since I know how and when all these characters die. I'll be so sad when Graystripe's time comes. :c

Yeah, I get it every time I read about Onewhisker. Sure, knowing about the whole Darktail thing kinda ruins it- but he was still a chill guy- at least, outside his love life. "You would have died for us. WindClan will never forget that." Always gets me too. So wrong. So, so wrong.
