I noticed that back then we'd pretty much worship the series. But now after realizing its flaws, more and more people are starting to dislike it.
The original series, in my opinion, is still great. There's a HUGE quality difference between this series compared to the rest. The writing was more detailed, you can even feel the characters' pain in the books, and the development. No one was tossed aside as a bland background character, they all served a purpose.
The New Prophecy. Still not too bad, but I wish they still ended in Dawn. But they still kept to the original style of the series for these cats.
Power of Three. Cats having powers? Seriously? First off, these cats aren't pokemon. At least Jayfeather's power is somewhat realistic. The development was still good, most characters still had personalities, but unfortunately more cats were being tossed aside in the background and had no personality.
Omen of the Stars. Ugh. Ghost cats returning to the real world? Are you serious? Using old villains again that should have stayed dead? Scourge is gone, why can't Tigerstar stay dead? Using a very overused and predictable and annoying villain (Mapleshade) just because the fandom loves her? Giving them poor development like jealousy and popularity, and using romance on Dovewing and Ivypool? One who is unbearable and wants to be popular, and the other one who can't decide whether she wants Tiggy or Bumble. Dear god, what is this series becoming?
A Vision of Shadows.. no. Just.. no. The only reason I'd still continue this series is because of Alderheart and Needletail.
It's just a shame at what warriors has become. And don't even get me started on the current series. I dislike how the Erins don't PLAN AHEAD. Hollyleaf was originally going to be part of the Three but they couldn't think of a power for her. That's no excuse. And this whole random news we've heard about recently? It feels like the Erins are lazy. They're putting random ideas and thinking it works when it doesn't. And I hope to God that they won't rush Breezepelt's development to make it feel so forced. I can rant all day about AVOS. OotS was bad, but I feel like this is even worse. I tried my darned hardest to like AVOS but I just don't. I only like 2 characters in this series and that's it.

That's one reason why I quit the series, but I still read the original and the new prophecy

as someone who likes to complain OS: it definitely has its flaws, but it's honestly not bad TNP: plot is a little exhausting, but it's readable POT: some of the character development is interesting but it has no plot??? not worth it! OOTS: awful to read
DOTC: TST was boring sorry AVOS: I still have no desire to read the actual books but I love reading the spoilers AVOS is a great fanfiction

I can honestly never tell if it's just because I'm becoming an old bitter person and so can't relate to the new characters as well, or if it really has just changed its tone as a series. My perspective will be a little different than all of yours because the first arc I read was actually TNP (started reading around the time Moonrise came out, then went back and read Midnight, then just read them sequentially). So to me I will always "relate" to that generation of cats a little bit better and appreciate their development a little more. But I do agree, once I got to POT things started out good (like the way the Erins revealed Jayfeather's blindness so....casually I guess?) but they kind of snowballed into a huge mess that only increased exponentially in size with OOTS. The cats just seemed less....mature? Like heck, even Squirrelpaw, hands down THE most annoying apprentice on the journey IMO, had it together as an APPRENTICE better than some of the OOTS characters did as full blown warriors (cough cough Dovewing, Tigerheart, etc). They just irked me. And then as I read the series I was focusing too much energy into getting frustrated with characters and then couldn't enjoy the plot as much as a result.

I found the OS to be as poor as PoT.

admittedly i definitely do think the quality of the series has declined. the OS and TNP are definitely my favorites, and while that could be nostalgia, i kinda doubt it since both series make for enjoyable rereads thanks to how fresh they are & the fact that the writers at least tried to keep up with their own continuity instead of rewriting/altering things all the time *coughSHcough* and ruining the immersiveness of the story in doing so. overall, they're definitely pretty solid books. PoT was readable, but i wouldn't say it's something i'd want to reread or even something i'd recommend to others to read. i feel like they just dropped the ball way too many times with that series, especially in regards to what felt like laziness & bad work ethic when they admitted to not planning ahead in regards to hollyleaf. it ended up being a bland and forgettable read because of this & there being no conclusion to the series, just so they could drag that plotline out for OotS, definitely didn't help either. OotS i ended up dropping halfway through, i couldn't bring myself to get invested in any of the new characters, especially because i unfortunately felt bitter that they decided to waste an entire 6 books on a red herring with hollyleaf and then, instead of resolving PoT's plot, they just carried it on and made it a 12 book thing instead. i still don't get that since it was easily one of the worst ideas & weakest plot points in the series.
i cant weigh in on DotC or AVoS writing wise, since i haven't read either, though i've heard DotC was good & gave a vibe like the OS apparently. however, i will say i wish they'd given the AVoS plot (of bringing skyclan back) to the PoT cats. i feel like it would've fit a whole lot better there & would've been a whole lot more interesting than zombie ghost cats vs 3 baseless supercats & a whole lotta regular cats.
