so near the end of the book, Hawkwing was trying to encourage Twig and Violet to join him in Skyclan. Both cats are hesitant and want more time to think about it.
I think Twigpaw will choose to go to SkyClan with Hawkwing, and Violetpaw will choose to stay in ShadowClan.
why? well, I think the erins made some very deliberate choices in the way they described certain things. if this was intentional, then I'd almost say they were being obvious.
First of all, Twigpaw is shown feeling more and more isolated within thunderclan. She is very upset when the Clan decides they don't want to look for her kin, and she specifically mentions Lilyheart, Ivypool, and Violetpaw (3 cats she trusted the most) as cats who have betrayed her.
It's also important to note that Twigpaw has always wanted kin around her.. She spends the entirety of SS and a good portion of TAS seeking her family and being upset that she has no one else but violetpaw.
The most obvious thing, in my opinion, is how well she adapted to SkyClan's way of fighting. Firestar said "remember your names" (basically 'use your own strengths') and Twigpaw DIDN'T fight like ThunderClan, she fought like SkyClan. She was nervous about the trees at first, but when she gets used to it she is very confident and has no second thoughts about jumping from branch to branch.
I like this scene:
"Do you want to join me?" [Hawkwing] asked. "I'd feel better, knowing you were close."
At once, Violetpaw shook her head. "Thanks, but I'll fight better down here, on the ground," she replied. "I know every paw step of this territory."
"Take care, then," Hawkwing responded. "Twigpaw, how about you?"
In answer, Twigpaw scrambled up the trunk, excitement surging through her as she balanced beside her father on the branch.
Notice their very different reactions to climbing the tree. Violetpaw immediately refuses and wants to stay on the ground (she wants to fight like SHADOWCLAN, not SkyClan) while Twigpaw is so eager that she climbs the tree the moment she's asked.
Violetpaw has also been notable for not really caring about kin. In TAS, while Twigpaw is upset to think that her parents might be dead, Violetpaw just straight up doesn't care. She never knew them so she didn't grieve, but Twigpaw was so wound up that she went on a journey just to find their mom.
Violetpaw's only family was Needletail and she was content with that. She values friendships while Twigpaw values family. I also found it interesting that in TAS Scorchfur was one of the cats that distrusted Violetpaw the most. I mean, he was CONSTANTLY questioning her loyalty, challenging her, and being a general pain in the rear. In Shattered Sky, near the end, he calls her a hero. Snowbird also praises Violetpaw, and I think that was a very obvious hint that even though Needletail is dead, Violet still has allies and even potential friends in ShadowClan. They're not the only ones who have reason to be grateful-- Ratscar and Oakfur are also friendlier towards her after she saved them. I think the erins are setting Violetpaw up to have a much better time in shadowclan now.
At the end of the book, Rowanstar allows Violetpaw to spend a day or two with her kin (can you say OOC????). I think this was a very convenient way of having the book end on a cliff, where both apprentices are kinda in limbo. They don't choose to stay with their respective clans, but they don't choose to go to SkyClan either.
Last thing, I remember a while back Kate or someone confirmed that there would be a ShadowClan POV throughout the entire arc. This was long ago, before we knew who the shadowclan POV would even be, so it could be that things have changed, but its just something worth noting.
also... this way, we would have a thunderclan, skyclan, and shadowclan pov. That way, none of the clans are getting too much spotlight and there is only one pov in each clan (instead of thunderclan having 2 povs). Twigpaw was also shown being interested in medicine, and wow which clan needs a medicine cat??? hmm....................
