What if Jayfeather stayed with Half Moon? How would it be if they had kits? That's what I am answering in this fan fiction of mine. My other fan fiction got pretty much nothing so I wanted to do this because I though more People would be interested in this. I thought it would be pretty cool to write myself! Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this fan fiction and tell me in the comments what you think might happen next, Plot ideas or things that you think I could improve on. Thanks!
QUICK UPDATE :
Hello everyone! I just wanted to tell you guys that I'm going to be gone from April 19-May 20. I will not be posting any new chapters within that time. I hope you guys understand.
PROLOGUE :
Jayfeather flicked his ear and settled beside Half Moon. He was glad he said no to Rock, no one could make him leave Half Moon! He looked beside him at Half Moon. Her chest rising and falling as she slept.
Her white pelt glistened in the moonlight. Jayfeather thought she looked so pretty. He was glad to be here with her, just him and her, forever.
He did wonder how Lionblaze and Dovewing were doing though. I will miss them…he thought. It’s kinda funny how I’m just fine leaving them. Jayfeather shook himself. They’ll manage. Leafpool can take on another apprentice.
Jayfeather looked around to make sure all the cats were sleeping. He wanted to go out to look at the moon. He could think there.
He got up carefully, not disturbing Half Moon. He slowly moved toward the exit to the cave. When he got out he looked up at the silver, shining moon. He was so glad he could see in this time. It wasn’t harder for him back home but…He could see Half Moon.
Half Moon was all that mattered.
He wondered how the moon was so big and beautiful. After a while of looking at the moon and thinking, he thought he should get back to Half Moon. He carefully tiptoed back into the cave and settled down beside Half Moon. He fell into a deep sleep.
Chapter 1 :
Jayfeather lazily blinked open one eye. It had been 3 moons since Jayfeather had chosen to be with Half Moon. It had been going great.
He was now mates with his beautiful Half Moon and Stone Song was Stoneteller. All had been going well.
Shy Fawn had named her other 3 kits, the female was named Dark Fawn after both parents and one of the males was named Leaping Fox because he jumped higher then any other cat, he was very energetic too. The final male being Racing Wave because he could run fast.
Dark Fawn liked to stay behind, with her mother. Jayfeather didn’t know if she was shy or not because she always had a look of pure calmness on her face, like a wise cat would.
Dark Fawn was a strange one.
Leaping Fox was everyone’s friend. He was the clumsiest of all the kits, always landing on his face and bumping into every cat. But he was fun to play with and he made sure he had a decent amount of friends.
Racing Wave was always finding trouble. He had a good nose though. He could sniff a mouse from a mile away!
Lion’s Roar mostly stayed by his brothers, playing whatever they were playing.
They were all three moons old. Still 5 moons until they would be to-bes.
The group had adapted to the tribe ways, they had cave guards and prey-hunters. They kept their system of naming though.
Jayfeather stood up and shook his fur. He looked beside him to see if Half Moon was there but she wasn’t. How strange…Jayfeather thought, she’s always right beside me when I wake up.
Jayfeather walked out of his and Half Moon’s den and into the bustling camp. Rising Moon was munching on a scrawny mouse next to Dove’s Wing. Broken Shadow, Chasing Clouds and Fish Leap were out on a hunting patrol.
Jayfeather walked over to Dove’s Wing. “Have you seen Half Moon? I didn't see her in her our den.” Jayfeather asked.
Dove’s Wind nodded. “She went into the nursery this morning.” Dove’s Wing’s voice lowered to a excited whisper, “Her belly looked big! I think she’s gonna be a kit-mother!”
Jayfeather gasped in surprise. Him? A father? This was incredible! “R-really!?”
Dove’s Wing grinned. “Yes!”
Jayfeather dashed to the nursery. When he got inside he saw Half Moon, with a large, rounded belly.
Half Moon’s eyes glittered with delight when she saw Jayfeather. “I’m a kit-mother!” Half Moon mewed.
Jayfeather’s heart sparked with joy. He had never felt such happiness in his whole life! “Half Moon! That’s wonderful!” Jayfeather ran to Half Moon and gently licked her cheek.
Half Moon purred. “Yes, yes it is.”
Jayfeather let this moment sink in. He was going to be a father. Just as he had wanted.
Chapter 2:
Dovewing opened one eye and raised her head, her smoky gray pelt glistening. She yawned. It had been a tiring day yesterday, helping the tribe cats.
Dovewing looked around. She saw all the dens were empty. Dovewing shuddered in shame. Oh gosh! I must have slept in really late!
Dovewing scrambled to her paws and leaped out of her den, landing gracefully on her feet. Dovewing arrived to the camp just in time to see Lionblaze dash out of the Cave of Pointed Stones.
“Jayfeather’s gone!” Lionblaze shouted.
All the camp gasped in fear. Dovewing tilted her head in confusion. Jayfeather? Gone? Dovewing would have to talk to Lionblaze about this later.
“He wasn’t here this morning and I looked everywhere in the Cave of Pointed Stones! He’s gone!” Lionblaze announced.
Just then, Stoneteller stepped from behind a rock, his fur bristling and his lips curling in a snarl.
“No cat is supposed to go in the Cave of Pointed Stones except me and Jayfeather!” Stoneteller hissed.
Lionblaze stared sternly but respectfully at Stoneteller. “I could not find Jayfeather anywhere. I had to look in the Cave of Pointed Stones. It was an emergency! Surely you can understand?” Lionblaze meowed, seeming very annoyed.
Stoneteller arched his back threateningly at Lionblaze. “That is still no reason to go in there! You don’t know how sacred that place is to us! Stupid clan cats!” Stoneteller meowed angrily before lashing his tail and slipping back into the Cave of Pointed Stones.
Lionblaze grumbled angrily and lashed his tail. He was clearly very annoyed.
Dovewing raised her voice so all could hear. “I’m sure there is an good explanation for all this. Maybe early this morning he went out to search for herbs without telling anyone? How about we send a patrol out to find him.” Dovewing suggested.
Lionblaze nodded approvingly at her. “That seems likely. How about Bird, Talon and Brook go on the patrol?”
All the cats in the camp nodded approvingly and the chosen cats stood beside Lionblaze.
“The patrol begins at dawn.” Lionblaze concluded. “Meeting dismissed!”
As soon as the meeting began to dismiss the chosen cats huddled together in a group to talk.
Dovewing knew she could hear what they were saying if she wanted too but, she didn’t.
Dovewing scraped the rock with her claws. Why hadn’t Lionblaze chosen her for the patrol? She knew Jayfeather better then the other cats on the patrol and Lionblaze trusted her!
Dovewing sulked as she went off on a hunting patrol. She was very envious of the chosen cats.
Dovewing then got an idea. She perked her ears up excitedly.
She was going to follow the patrol!
Chapter 3 Part 1:
Half Moon’s belly got bigger every day. It made Jayfeather nervous. Not that there was anything wrong with it but he was just so…so…Excited and astonished to become a father. He never thought in any time or age he would get to be a father!
Half Moon was still the happy being that she was, always wearing a bright smile on her face that lit up the whole cave. Jayfeather didn’t know how she could do it.
He was so proud of her, so proud of Half Moon, for everything. Every little thing that she had done and everything she was about to go through.
She was what made him get over his homesickness. She was what made him happy.
Jayfeather carried the limp mouse in his jaws that he had caught on a hunting patrol earlier and gave it to Half Moon. Jayfeather entered the nursery. He could smell Half Moon’s sweet scent, like a new tulip blossom.
“Half Moon. I’ve brought a mouse for you.” Jayfeather meowed to Half Moon.
Half Moon stared at him with that amazing smile of hers. “Thank you.” She meowed gratefully. “Set it down right next to me.” Half Moon signaled to the spot with her nose.
Jayfeather carefully set the mouse down beside Half Moon. Half Moon picked the mouse up in her jaws and started munching on it.
“The kits will come soon.” Jayfeather mewed, breaking the silence.
Half Moon smiled. “Yes! I’m so excited!” Half Moon purred excitedly, looking fondly at Jayfeather, “This is what I always wanted. The first time I saw you I knew we were meant to be together.”
Jayfeather blushed. “I love you Half Moon…What would I do without you?” He meowed. He gently licked Half Moon’s cheek, the time seeming to be endless.
