THE CLANS: Cloudclan, Rainclan, and Rippleclan
HOW THEY WERE FORMED:
There were once three cats: Rain, Ripple, and Cloud.
These three cats were friends, and had grown up together traveling and exploring. Eventually the cats decided to settle down somewhere.
The cats called upon Starclan to lead them where they should go. Starclan obliged. These cats were honest, only wanting a place to call home and to be happy, and so Starclan agreed to guide them. They traveled together, led by Starclan, for a moon, until they came upon an ocean. It was the biggest thing they had ever seen, rippling waves lapping at the pristine white beaches. It was a paradise, and yet something told them that this was not the place they were to stay.
The three decided to stay for the night and see if anything might change in the morning. Ripple, ever the worrier, was not able to fall asleep. The tom left the makeshift den where the friends were staying and walked onto the beach, spying a shape in the water, lit by moonlight. As he watched, the tide lowered wave by wave and soon a landbridge had risen from the water. He hurried to go tell his friends, and the three cats traveled down the landbridge, their path lit by Starclan in the moonlight.
Soon they reached an island, full of giant trees, many plants, colorful flowers, and diverse animals. The cats found a river meandering through the middle of the island, a small island in the middle. A giant tree stood in the center, and the cats nestled in it's mossy roots to rest. This island is now the Gathering place for the three clans.
Rain, Ripple, and Cloud woke from a shared dream by Starclan; they had been blessed with powers. Rain had the power to make raindrops appear, which came in handy for annoying Ripple. Cloud had the power to conjure fog, which was useful for keeping hidden. Ripple had the power to make earth or water ripple, which was useful in hunting.
Before the three cats knew it, rogues and loners began crossing the landbridge, which they found only stayed for a moon at a time during the dry season. The rogues, led by Rain, Ripple, and Cloud, soon formed a clan before the landbridge disappeared again. The cats thrived, fed by the fruits and wildlife throughout the forest. However, tensions arose from the cats, and Rain, Ripple, and Cloud began to have disagreements over things like who was to be leader, etc. The cats in their now large clan divided, also, and were split to choose between the three. Cloud, ever the peacekeeper, suggested starting the three clans instead of the war that was sure to come.
The cats agreed; this generation was peaceful, the rogues had come for a happy home like Rain, Ripple, and Cloud, and so they didn't want a war. They split the territories into three clans: Rainclan, Rippleclan, and Cloudclan.
-
Cloudclan lives in the canopy, their dens a mix of weaving and holes in trees.
Rainclan is much the same as Cloudclan, living in the canopy with the same style dens, though they come to the ground more often.
Rippleclan lives on the forest floor, their dens hidden in tree roots and weaved into bushes.

Here's what I have for CloudClan so far!
CloudClan cats tend to thrive in the canopy of the rainforest, making their dens in hollow trees or weaving them out of leaves and branches. Their bodies are lean, and their legs long, in order to help them survive in their environment. Cats of CloudClan come in many colors ranging from light Greys and whites to dark brown. They excel at leaping through the treetops after monkeys and birds and being able to navigate their habitat during even the worst rains. - The hierarchy of the clan goes somewhat like this: The leader rules the clan from afar, issuing battles and action during emergencies. The second (aka deputy) carries out the leader's wishes and orders commands for everyday life. The peacekeeper, who is usually a warrior, makes sure that all the cats of the clan are satisfied, and will alert the deputy with any cats concerns. The healer (aka medicine cat) is in charge of healing all the ill members of the clan and receiving messages from StarClan, the are not given enough power to have their interpretations believed in, but often times a leader will consult with them before deciding for themselves. The mentors, cats who are mentoring, or have mentored a cat. The powered warriors, these are the warriors with some sort of power. The other warriors, warriors who don't have powers. Queens, mothering she-cats who either have or expecting kits. Elders, cats who have retired from the life of a warrior. Apprentices, warriors in training. Kits, young cats who have not reached the age of seven moons to be trained. Leaders, seconds, and healers all need to have some sort of power, peacemakers do not. - Some CloudClan traditions include: when an apprentice reaches 12 moons the will journey to the crystal (or whatever we're calling it) and spend the night in its presence. If they're lucky, StarClan will grant them a power, if not then they'll just stay the same. For the last two moons of their training the apprentices will be assigned a better mentor (like if a normal cat had a powered mentor, they’d be assigned a ‘normal mentor’ or vice versa. - To become a healer, you must first train as a warrior, then when you receive your power you're considered mature enough to make the decision whether or not to be a healer. If they choose to become a healer then they must spend six more moons training with joint mentors, one a healer to train them in the ways of a healer, and the second a cat's with similar powers to help train them in power usage. Once they are ready to become a fully fledged healer they visit the crystal for a second time with their healer Mentor. During this visit the cats of StarClan will come down and either accept or deny the apprentice. If they accept the cats of StarClan will present the healer with their full name. There can be a total of four healers or healers in training at a time. - To become a warrior there are many assessments one must pass, the first being a treetop race. The apprentice must be able to out race their mentor with a twelve second head start. This assessment is supposed to judge not only your agile for hunting, but for avoiding Predators like Ocelots and Jaguars. The second is a treetop battle. If the apprentices skills are sufficient then they'll be able to continue on to the hunting portion, if not they're expected to train for another moon before trying again. The hunting assessment has two parts. The first one is a solo hunt in which an apprentice is expected to catch at least three animals of their choice and one that their mentor assigns them (these are usually the type of prey the apprentice has the most difficulty hunting). During the second one, the apprentice is placed as the hunting patrol leader and is assessed on their ability to work in a team. For the final assessment the apprentice is dropped off somewhere in the forest and must find their way back to camp before the day ends. This is often regarded as the easiest assessment, but it is still used to test an apprentice's knowledge of the rainforest they live in. - When two warriors fall in love and wish to become mates they go to the leader who will announce the couple. The couple then awaits the clans approval and once approved, go to the crystal to spend the night. Mates are made for life and the only way they can Mate someone else is if their previous partner dies or the whole clan approves the split. If the couple is not approved, the cats are forced to break up and have little to no interactions. - When a warrior is chosen to be the second, the healers will bring them to the crystal for StarClan's approval. If StarClan doesn't interact, it's taken as a sign they gave no complaints. The same happens when a deputy becomes a leader, except for the fact that they'll receive nine lives. - When a warrior wishes to retire they must attend one final hunting patrol, whatever is brought back us distributed throughout the whole clan and while the cats feast the other elders tell stories and entertain the clan .
