I'm sure they have their reasons. My grandmother's basically Millie, and I understand where she comes from. No, I didn't approve of her parenting, but seeing as she became a shell of her former self and borderline went insane when she had to care for her bed-ridden daughter for 40 years straight, I honestly don't blame her for being snappy, irritable, and pushing people away. I watched her change and struggle, and she's still recovering from that phase even now, 5 years after her daughter passed. I watched first-hand how she changed- and I could tell that that was not her, but a twisted, struggling form of her who was trying to cope with this trial she was going through.
But I don't expect people to understand though- and they don't have to. I just wish more people would understand that not all Millie defenders are insane, terrible people who must be going nuts. I have my reasons, and I'm standing by them.

I hate it when people just absolutely hate Millie. I don't LOVE Millie, I'm neutral on her, so this is where my neutrality comes in because while I do not approve of her being too overly attached to Briarlight, I still defend Millie because I UNDERSTAND HER. If you don't have the time to sit back and look at things from her POV, then you are just hating on her just to hate on her for one or two actions. So please do not say I support bad parenting because I already said I DO NOT.
Millie was a kittypet. She'd been sheltered her entire life. She's used to having sickness and injury being healed very quickly (at least compared to the warriors where medicine takes a bit longer). She knew the risks when she left her twolegs, but she still did it because she cared for Graystripe, whom she got to know really well through training with him. Then she goes to his clan with him and they are mates. They have kits. Millie is a first time mother while Graystripe is a second time father. Millie was great to her kits when they were kits and apprentices. Briarkit got sick with her and they both could have died. Then Briarkit almost got killed by a snake which someone else died saving her from. Those are TWO instances where Briarlight could have died. Her siblings on the other hand, are perfectly fine and healthy. We don't know how Millie thinks. Maybe she's grateful her other two kits are mature, healthy, perfectly responsible for themselves warriors, while she could view Briarlight as cursed and fated for sickness and injury because Briarlight's accident shattered Millie more than it did Briarlight. Millie thought Briarlight was finally going to be okay. She survived those two incidents as a kit and was now going to be a warrior, but the tree accident was the final straw. What was Millie thinking then? Did Millie think it could be her fault for being a former kittypet that Starclan cursed Briarlight to have accidents and never have a normal life? We don't know. Millie's a first time mother and probably will never have another litter (thank god). But this doesn't change the fact that no one helped her understand the situation clearly. Briarlight didn't speak up. Graystripe's a dead beat father who takes his Thunderclan family for granted. Leafpool didn't give Millie a lecture like how she gave Spiderleg. So how is Millie NOT supposed to be over protective of her "cursed" kit? Briarlight has been "cursed" with injury and sickness and accidents all her life: fatal sickness, the snake, the tree, the dogs, and now the flood (which everyone suffered from but she somehow survived). And how is Millie not supposed to yell at Blossomfall? She is always stressed because one of her kits will NEVER EVER feel the joys and pride that comes with serving their clan. She KNOWS Briarlight felt useless and pointless at some point in her life. That's a horrible thing for a parent to learn that their child feels. Blossomfall, in Millie's eyes probably, was taking advantage of her wellbeing. She's able to walk, run, jump, be a warrior, explore, etc. Yet Blossomfall chooses to do something foolish and almost get her and her clanmate KILLED. Millie had every right to yell at Blossomfall for almost taunting Briarlight with being able to walk and run. Blossomfall used her wellbeing to do something foolish instead of serve her clan like how Briarlight wishes she could but can't. That's probably what Millie was thinking and honestly, it's what I thought the more I read that scene. So yes, I defend Millie in these cases, but not where she is in the extremes of "ignoring" Bumblestripe and Blossomfall. Blossomfall could have talked to Millie and we could have seen it on screen, but no. She CHOSE to join the Dark Forest for something so immature.

Just because you don't agree with her parenting style (which I don't think anyone does), doesn't mean you can't find her an interesting character.

I can defend who I want. But, I don't care about useless debates anymore.

Because people take the time to view an action from different perspectives instead of stubbornly seeing things as black and white.
In my eyes, Millie is a great cat who has done and sacrificed so much for those around her, and you don't have the right to put people down for disagreeing with your entirely subjective opinion, especially over something small like scolding her irresponsibly, adult daughter.

I think it is because they see what she was like before, and ignore her actions, even when she doesn't apologize and or change her ways over them. They defend her because they do not think she was abusive, which I strongly, strongly disagree with. I believe bias comes in as well, as they get annoyed of her being hated due to not taking a warrior name and comparing her to Silverstream.

People can have opinions you guys.
I am personally neutral on her, and I think that people are realizing just now that Millie gossip has made the story of her scolding Blossemfall sound like she was abusing her verbally to a intense level.
