I'd like to do this:
1) Our own, completely fictionalized land where the cat's get (maybe?) their powers to help deal with the fierce predators and clever prey if they can't deal with the predators because their too strong and the prey because it is too hard to catch.
2) North America's wilderness, with all the thunderpath's and twolegs included. We can make it so that they are having a hard time dealing with twoleg's and other predators.
3) A rocky mountain area. Far away from twoleg's but close to wolves, lynx, deer, and so many other creatures that they could have as prey and predator. They could not be so used to this life-style and have to adapt soon, or many of them will perish.

I like all the options. Maybe we can combine the second and the third one. Like, the clans were once settled in the area like the second one, where their were twolegs nearby and thunderpaths. And something caused them to move, whether it was twolegs building further, or twoleg hunting parties (hunting elk or deer) with their loud guns and hunting dogs making it unsafe every hunting season. Or a plague and the clans had to leave the infested area. So they move further into the mountains (maybe like Yellowstone National Park)and now have to deal with less twolegs and more of the predators and other animals such as (wolves, bison, and bears) and different surrounding areas. Which could be one of the major reasons why the medicine cat of the vanishing clan makes the deal with either the dark forest, first ancestors, or some other mythical force.

It's kind of the reason I tried to make this, so that way people with little time on their hands can all pitch in and create a fanfic together. |
